da Opera Contemporary per intrepretare il linguaggio
sempre più contemporaneo del brand attraverso proposte
di design innovative e dall’anima sartoriale.
Draga & Aurel sono riconosciuti a livello internazionale per
il loro approccio artistico e sperimentale ai materiali e ai
processi di lavorazione.
Un arredo iconico che coniuga il desiderio di libertà
assoluta con la presenza di un legame forte all’intima
routine della vita privata. Aurora è la possibilità di infiniti

chosen by Opera Contemporary to interpret the increasingly
contemporary language of the brand through proposals of
innovative design with a tailor-made approach.
Draga & Aurel are known on an international level for
their artistic, experimental approach to materials and
workmanship.
An iconic piece that combines the desire for absolute
freedom with the presence of a strong bond with personal
routines in private life. Aurora embodies the possibility of
infinite physical spaces, to be experienced and discovered
with the intensity of constantly new emotions.
Sinuous lines, well-gauged thicknesses and fine
workmanship are the distinctive features of the first
product among the new developments for 2021. The refined
shaping of the wood establishes a dialogue with the soft
padding of the leather.
A product that is striking for its lightness and character,
almost a sculpture to display in any room of the home, as
a perfect blend of elegance, comfort and functional quality.

dall’arredamento all’artigianato. Il loro percorso parte dalla
reinvenzione di pezzi vintage, per approdare alla firma di
collezioni di prodotti contemporanei dalla forte espressività,
disegnati per alcuni tra i più importanti brand del panorama
internazionale del furniture design.
Una vivace e costante sperimentazione nell’utilizzo di
materiali e colori è il filo conduttore che guida il processo
delle loro creazioni.

Draga Obradovic and Aurel K. Basedow have an eclectic

background that ranges from fashion to art, décor to
crafts. Their career began with the reinvention of vintage
pieces, leading to the design of collections of contemporary
products of great expressive impact, created for some of
the most important brands on the international furniture
design scene. Constant, lively experimentation with the use
of materials and colors is a leitmotif that guides the process
of their creations.

INSPIRATION -

La moda, da sempre una grande passione di Draga, è stata

la fonte principale d’ispirazione di Aurora, lounge chair la
cui struttura richiama i profili scultorei di alcuni sandali
femminili e nel cui rivestimento si ritrovano gli intrecci
eleganti e le pieghe morbide dei pellami che impreziosiscono
borse e pochette. I designer hanno puntato a una silhouette
sinuosa, evocativa del design anni ’60, capace di valorizzare
l’eccellenza manifatturiera dell’azienda.

Fashion, which has always been one of Draga’s great

passions, has been the main source of inspiration for Aurora,
the lounge chair whose structure suggests the sculptural
profiles of certain women’s sandals, with covering informed
by the elegant weaves and soft folds of leather, enhancing
handbags and pochettes. The designers have focused on a
sinuous silhouette, in the spirit of Sixties design, capable of
bringing out the manufacturing prowess of the company.

Il suo valore primario si riscontra nell’ingegnerizzazione
della struttura in massello.
Un processo virtuoso tra i designer e il team di ricerca
& sviluppo interno all’azienda ha permesso di ottenere
un prodotto solido e al tempo stesso leggero e slanciato
nell’aspetto. Il preliminare studio ergonomico e il codice
estetico individuato hanno guidato la prototipazione e
permesso di scegliere la tecnologia ideale. Il risultato si
apprezza nel massimo livello di assottigliamento delle
sezioni del legno, nel punto in cui le leve si incrociano, e
nell’allungamento estremo delle gambe che diventano
un segno architettonico deciso grazie alla presenza di
un’anima metallica.

A lounge chair with curved, well-balanced organic forms.

Its primary value lies in the engineering of the solid wood
structure. A fertile dialogue between the designers and
the in-house research and development team has led to a
product that is solid but visually light and slender at the same
time. The preliminary ergonomic studies and the aesthetic
code identified for the model guided the prototyping,
leading to selection of the ideal technology. The results can
be admired in the maximum slimming of the cross-sections
of the wood, in the point where the levers cross, and in the
extreme extension of the legs, which become a decisive
architectural sign, thanks to a metal core.
