TERME SENSORIALI. RIQUALIFICAZIONE FUNZIONALE DEL PADIGLIONE GARBOLI

Concetto
L'intervento di riqualificazione funzionale del Padiglione Garboli si inserisce all'interno di un pi
ampio programma d'intervento che interessa l'intera area delle Terme di Chianciano, Parco
Fucoli, Sorgente Sillene e Stabilimento Acqua Santa.
Il progetto, unico in Italia, si struttura attraverso un percorso a spirale che si sviluppa lungo i
tre livelli dell'edificio in cui si ritrovano i cinque elementi (acqua, fuoco, terra, aria, etere).
L'intento quello di realizzare un edificio in cui sia possibile riequilibrare le energie del proprio
corpo attraverso il Percorso Sensoriale che i diversi ambienti mettono in scena, ciascuno con
una sua peculiarit. Il concept di progetto, studiato in collaborazione con una equipe di
specialisti, messa a disposizione dalla committenza, trae origine dalla medicina Ayurvedica che
ha una visione olistica dell'uomo: cio vede l'essere umano formato da mente, corpo e spirito
e il cui benessere psico-fisico dato dall'equilibrio del campo energetico di tali elementi.

Si compongono cos i percorsi del progetto "TERME SENSORIALI" basati sul riequilibrio del
campo energetico umano attraverso l'armonia dei 5 elementi. I percorsi iniziano dalla parte pi
materiale fino ad arrivare a quella pi sottile, attraverso questa sequenza: ACQUA, FUOCO,
TERRA, ARIA, ETERE.
Ledificio stato concepito secondo i concetti di sostenibilit inteso come perseguimento della
compatibilit tra fattori economici, la tutela delle risorse e la qualit dellambiente.
Tutti i materiali utilizzati sono eco-compatibili.

Sono stati utilizzati collettori solari termici per la produzione di acqua calda per lalimentazione
delle vasche, delle docce, di alcune attivit del Centro e per il riscaldamento degli ambienti
tramite pannelli radianti sotto pavimento e a parete, garantendo un microclima ottimale sia
estivo che invernale.
Sono stati utilizzati sistemi di illuminazione ad alta efficienza, basso consumo e durata cinque
volte superiore a sorgenti tradizionali quali i led: sono stati installati oltre 1000 micro punti
luce da 2W.

Il concetto della luce
Il settore dellilluminazione fonte di nuove possibilit, la ricerca in questo campo deve
proseguire sui due aspetti pi importanti: quello delleffetto luminoso sempre pi raffinato e
originale e quello del risparmio energetico e della durata, che inserisce la luce a pieno titolo fra
le scelte strutturali in un progetto. Nel progetto architettonico,infatti, la luce la quarta
dimensione, lelemento immateriale, la componente spirituale che si contrappone alla materia
del costruire. Ogni materiale ha le proprie caratteristiche fisiche: il cemento, il vetro, i colori
dialogano tra loro, ma con un linguaggio sordo, la luce, naturale o artificiale, che pu
nascondere o esaltare, svelare o sfumare con magia larchitettura e ne lanima. Oggi, grazie
alle nuove tecnologie, la sorgente luminosa acquisisce materialit, diventando un elemento da
costruzione, quantificabile in termini di potenza, rendimento energetico e soprattutto
durabilit infinita.
Le aree funzionali

Le attivit inserite all interno del grande involucro esistente si distribuiscono secondo uno
schema planimetrico a forma di spirale che si evolve dall area di accoglienza, sino al termine
del percorso.

Dentro del llamado Corredor Termal del Paran, el terreno designado para la
implantacin del complejo posee una calidad paisajstica que por s sola amerita no solo
un diseo que la preserve, sino que adems saque el mayor partido y la potencie. La
barranca, el ro, el verde, no son slo entorno. Pasan a constituirse en estructurantes del
proyecto.
A continuacin les mostramos la propuesta ganadora del primer lugar en el concurso,
proyecto del equipo de dls.arquitectura .

La posibilidad de sumar al ya nutrido sistema Termal de Entre Ros un nuevo complejo
en la ciudad de Paran, plantea el problema de cualificar la oferta de manera de que la
misma sea competitiva dentro de la red Entre Ros Termal.
A escala urbana, el Complejo pasa a constituir una oferta altamente calificada para la
recreacin y el turismo. Es deseable que se integre a la oferta que la ciudad posee y que
ha ido recuperando a lo largo de los aos sobre la costa del Paran. La conexin vial
directa, si bien es deseable, implica obras infraestructurales complejas y poco probables
en el corto plazo. Las vinculaciones planteadas corresponden a las existentes. Las
mismas debern ser recualificadas para abastecer adecuadamente el caudal de visitantes
esperado, permitir la provisin de insumos, la evacuacin de residuos, y dems
movimientos logsticos.

La imponente presencia del ro Paran, observado desde la barranca, la exuberancia del
verde autctono, son, como se dijo, argumentos estructurantes para la propuesta del
masterplan.
El contrapunto dado por la presencia de construcciones, en desigual estado de
conservacin y de calidades arquitectnicas dismiles, son asimismo huellas de la
historia de la ciudad. Algunas de ellas tienen un interesante potencial icnico, como el
edificio de la antigua toma de agua, conocido como el Anderson y sus chimeneas.
En la propuesta, estos edificios, se ponen en valor y refuncionalizan. Tienen una funcin
de anclaje simblico con la memoria del lugar y por lo mismo, se los recupera para ser
insertados al conjunto de edificios que completarn la intervencin.

En una problemtica compleja como la que supone la que es objeto del presente
concurso, con un programa de alto impacto y un ambiente susceptible de sufrir el
mismo, es importante esbozar las estrategias que preserven el ambiente natural y el
cultural, ya que del suceso de stas depende la sostenibilidad de la inversin en el
tiempo.
Preservar la memoria y el paisaje es lo que confiere al Complejo la condicin de lugar,
tanto a los ojos del turista como de los ciudadanos que incorporarn el espacio como
integrante legtimo del paisaje urbano.

Por otra parte, las acciones tendientes al uso racional de los recursos (naturales,
paisajsticos, culturales y humanos) de hecho, necesarias y recomendables, as como su
difusin, colaboran para erradicar cierto pensamiento generalizado de que toda
explotacin termal es nociva para el medio ambiente en que se la implanta.

Arosa offers an extraordinary geographic configuration of natural basin surrounded by
mountains. We imagined to build without building, to assert the presence of the new through
the emergent parts (artificial trees as metaphor of the nature) and to leave interred the great
volume with the functional program. The cover of the hypogeal spaces becomes a stage
marked by geometric vegetal presences that rouse the visitor curiosity.
This particular context therefore suggested us an intriguing solution of visual impact and,
above all, of great respect for the surrounding village. The great volume disappears into the
earth; only the vegetal and, at the same time, mechanical trees of light emerge, marking the
recreational and collective character of the structure.
The inner space appears as a terraced continuum with the slope in order to limit the
excavation works. Further to the clients indications, the modular design allows the maximum
of flexibility in the organization of the different functions.
The different areas of "Berg Oase" are characterized by their interrelation and privileged
relationship with the environment through technological trees that guarantee natural lighting,
an extraordinary sight towards the landscape and, at night, they are the signs of the in-house
life of the resort which, through artificial lighting, gains a magic atmosphere.
The interior space is divided into four levels and the external sauna, solarium and swimming
pool are reachable directly from the swimming pools and set on a attractive terracing, dipped
into nature.
The new structure is accessible through a glass walkway ("promenade architecturale"), from
the existing hotel as well as from the entrance level to the hotel. The new building, beyond the
unbuilt space" of the "trees", resolves the relationship with the existing hotel and the ground
through a great wall in natural stone. The external public space is therefore redesigned in
order to create a cosy atmosphere and to solve the car parks problem thus discreetly
integrated in the plan.

Im neuen Spabereich des Palais Thermal schtzt ein weies Membrandach von formTL die
Gste vor Witterung und Blicken.

Radolfzell / Tbingen, im Oktober 2012. Das alte Graf-Eberhard-Bad in Bad Wildbad im
Nordschwarzwald gilt seit 165 Jahren als einer der schnsten Badetempel Europas. 1847 direkt
ber einer Thermalquelle erbaut, erfuhr es im Laufe der Jahre verschiedene Erweiterungen
und Modernisierungen. Geprgt wird das Ensemble durch das neue Eberhardsbad, einem
Terrassenbau aus den 70er Jahren, der seit einigen Jahren leer steht. Das historische
Erlebnisbad mit seiner maurischen Halle und den Frstenbdern erweitert nun sein
Wellnessangebot mit einer segelberspannten Spaanlage im Auenbereich.

Die Gemeinde Bad Wildbad liegt idyllisch, aber auch beengt im Enztal im Nordschwarzwald.
Daher entschloss man sich die brachliegenden Auenflchen des 70er-Jahre Baus fr die
Erweiterung zu nutzen. Das renommierte Stuttgarter Architekturbro Kauffmann Theilig &
Partner gestaltete auf den Terrassenflchen im zweiten und dritten Obergeschoss eine
freundliche Spalandschaft geprgt von warmen Holztnen. Sie wird durch eine speziell
ausgewhlte Beleuchtung zustzlich in Szene gesetzt wird. Den Besucher leitet eine hlzerne
Freitreppenanlage vom Saunainnenhof des historischen Bades hinauf in die neue Anlage. Von
dort bewegt er sich in einer polygonalen Holzlandschaft vorbei an verschiedenen
Saunaangeboten zum Glanzpunkt der Anlage: einem neuen Auenbecken auf dem Dach, das
seinen Nutzern einen beeindruckenden Ausblick ber das Tal bietet.

Um den Einblick vom nahegelegenen Thermenhotel zu verhindern und den Saunabesuchern
Privatheit zu bieten, spannt ber die gesamte Nordseite der Becken-Ebene eine filigrane
Membrankonstruktion. Sie bietet zudem Witterungsschutz und rahmt den Blick nach Sden
und Osten ins Tal ein.

Die leichte Konstruktion wirkt trotz der geometrischen und konstruktiven Herausforderungen
schwebend oder auch gerade deshalb. formTL, die Membranspezialisten vom Bodensee,
waren als Tragwerksplaner von der Entwurfsplanung bis zur Bauberwachung fr das
Membrandach verantwortlich. In der Grundstruktur handelt es sich um eine vorgespannte
Membran mit drei Hochpunkten und seitlicher Randabspannung. Um einen effektiven
Sichtschutz zu bieten, ist das Membrandach um die Lngsachse gekippt, woraus eine extreme
Geometrie entsteht: Die Konstruktion hat sehr steile und flache Bereiche letztere sind
insbesondere wegen der winterlichen Schneelasten eine Herausforderung. Darber hinaus
sind die organisch geformten Hochpunktringe rund um die Masten geometrisch exakt in die
zweiachsig gekrmmte Membranoberflche integriert und bieten freie Durchsicht in den
Himmel. Auffllig ist die auergewhnliche Lnge des sttzenfreien vorderen Randes. Schon
auf freiem Gelnde wre dies eine anspruchsvolle Konstruktion. Die Errichtung auf dem
Bestandsbau in Bad Wildbad erhht den Schwierigkeitsgrad. Sowohl das von Kauffmann,
Theilig & Partner geplante Auenbecken als auch der Membran-Sichtschutz waren mit
mglichst geringen Eingriffen in die Substanz zu planen. Bei der Platzierung der Fu- oder
Abspannpunkte galt es zustzlich zu bercksichtigen, wo die Unterzge der darunter liegenden
Ebenen verlaufen. Mit ihrer Komplexitt und Anmutung kann sich diese Konstruktion deshalb
mit anspruchsvollen Groprojekten aus dem Portfolio der Membranspezialisten von formTL
messen.

The building is part of the surrounding landscape being located directly at the river Lahn. The
beauty of the flowing water and the nature in the immediate vicinity are what makes it to a
special place.

Architecture and light also focus on the two themes: water and river. Light islands, round
organic forms and groups of luminaires like pebbles in a flowing stream reflect the basic design
ideas. The rooms get a flowing and pure atmosphere at the same time the light structures
them. Belonging areas can be seen and felt. At the major orientation points the light guides
the visitor with bright surfaces.

The Rmerbad Spa Baths in the Austrian ski resort of Bad Kleinkirchheim are to be extended
with facilities for children, health and beauty. When the Rmerbad was built in 1978, it was
one of the first spa baths with special attractions which are now so much en vogue. Both its
architectural qualities reminiscent of the antique spa and the stunning natural
surroundings immediately made it stand out against other similar spa baths.

Drawing on the existing geometrical forms the design proposal is defined by a new, terraced
landscape punctuated by 3 similar circular pavilions.

The various new amenities are characterised by different moods and atmospheres ranging
from a cave-like meditation zone dug in an existing hill through to lightflooded spaces
affording beautiful vistas of the surrounding mountains.
