MAST
DESCRIZIONE GENERALE
all’estremo con i pistoni idraulici, è fissata a 16300 mm.
fine corsa idraulici, rimanendo attivi quelli meccanici.
- I blocchi idraulici.

HH 102 – HYDRAULIC ROTARY DRILLING RIG
OPERATIONS DESCRIPTION
During drilling (FLOATING PHASE), two max. pressure valves are engaged: one is for pushing and the other for pulling. In this case the oil that keeps the ropes tight
gets into the two tension cylinders but can’t get out because a one-way valve prevents that; in this way the downward thrust is also operated. Then, when the oil
gets into the rod chamber, the main cylinders tends to close. In this way the tension tackles are pushed downwards and thus the carriage is pushed downwards too
and the rods in the well get the final thrust.
HOLE REAMING
If the hole needs reaming before extracting the bit, the operation can be performed according to the “floating phase” method, using the pull regulator and
increasing the adjustment.
If during the reaming or extraction phase the drill string gets stuck in the well (stuck pipe), the overpulling of the top drive stresses the drill string up to the
previously set value.
To exceed such value it will be necessary to increase the pressure to achieve the maximum pulling admitted for the type of rods in use.
If the bit must be lowered again, adjust the speed again via the pull regulator; in this case you have to decrease the adjustment.
42
HH 102 – HYDRAULIC ROTARY DRILLING RIG

OPERATIONS DESCRIPTION
TAKE A DRILL PIPE FROM THE BINS AND STORE IT TO THE MOUSE HOLE:
- This operation is executed using the auxiliary jib crane, installed on the top of the mast fixed
section, connected to an apposite device that permits drill pipes handling;
- Position the drill pipes lifting device in proximity of the selected drill pipe body;
- Open the clamps of the device by acting on the apposite lever, than grab the pipe releasing
the lever.
- Lift the device by means of the jib crane winch; doing this operation the clamps of the device
will grab the tool joint of the drill pipe;
- Acting on the jib crane auxiliary winch, completely lift up the drill pipe and rotate the crane
arm to take the pipe in proximity of the mouse hole;
- Verify that the mouse hole clamps are completely open;
- Complete the rotation of the jib crane arm to put the pipe inside the mouse hole .
- Lift the jib crane winch down, to position the upper tool joint to the correct height to execute
the successive operations;
- Position the jib crane arm externally to the top drive working range.
IN ORDER TO MOVE A ROD FROM THE MOUSE HOLE TO THE WELL CENTER:
- Move the top drive from the well center to the mouse hole (top drive tilting).
- Screw the rod by means of the top drive (spinning).
- Open the mouse hole vice.
- Lift the top drive until the rod gets out of the mouse hole.
- Move the top drive from the mouse hole to the well center .
- Clamp the top connection with a torque wrench to the torque value required.
- Screw up the single drill pipe onto the rod wedged in the rotary table
(spinning).
- Tighten to the required torque value using the power tong.
- Lift the drill string to remove the wedges .
- Re-start running.
