American state could ever prohibit abortion within the first trimester of conception. this sentence
was fundamental because it promoted the idea that a woman is first of all a person, that she belongs
only to herself and that no one has the right to prevent her from acting on her body according to her
An important change took place in 2019, when some states managed, thanks to the help of the
Trump administration, to pass a series of new restrictive laws. Other states have passed laws that
would allow the termination of pregnancy only until the heartbeat is noticeable, or about 6 weeks
after conception. Legal abortion, protected by law and by the state, is a guarantee for all women.
This theme has assumed great importance in the political debate. As for the future, the most
plausible hypothesis is that abortion will not be made illegal throughout the country, giving each
federal state the possibility of making it more or less accessible according to its own laws.
