CONTENUTO DEL MANUALE

Il SERVICE MANUAL viene messo a disposizione dell’operatore per facilitare alcune

operazioni come la manutenzione ordinaria e straordinaria dell’ apparecchio, nonchè una breve
guida ai guasti più comuni che si possono verificare ed anche la spiegazione di come effettuare
le operazioni di taratura dell’ apparecchio.
L’ Ekos mod.9000, deve essere correttamente installato e utilizzato secondo le specifiche del
manuale di istruzioni; ha bisogno di manutenzione ordinaria e straordinaria a seconda di quanto
specificato nel manuale di istruzioni.
Il capitolo 1 dei ricambi è sostituito dal SERVICE MANUAL RICAMBI.
Nel capitolo 2 viene messa a disposizione dell’ operatore una breve guida per poter risolvere
i guasti più comuni seguendo le relative verifiche da effettuare caso per caso.
Nel capitolo 3 vengono riportate le parti fondamentali per poter effettuare le riparazioni sulle
schede elettroniche: lo schema elettrico e la serigrafia componenti.
Nel capitolo 4 vengono descritte le operazioni da eseguire per fare la manutenzione ordinaria
e straordinaria dell’ apparecchio, inoltre vengono descritte anche le operazioni per eseguire la
taratura dell’ apparecchio completo.
Nel capitolo 5 sono raccolti tutti i FOGLI SERVICE inviati direttamente al SERVIZIO
TECNICO.

CONTENTS OF THE MANUAL

The SERVICE MANUAL is compiled in order to help the operator carry out certain
operations such as routine and extraordinary maintenance and identification of spare parts. It also
contains a brief troubleshooting guide listing the most common faults that may occur along with
an explanation on how to calibrate the instrument.
The Ekos mod.9000 must be correctly installed and used in compliance with the specifica-
tions given in the instruction manual; it needs of normal and particular maintenance wich are
content in the instruction manual.
Chapter 1 of the rechange is replaced from SERVICE MANUAL SPARE.
Chapter 2 gives the operator a brief guide allowing him to resolve the most common faults
and giving details on how to carry out all the necessary inspections.
Chapter 3 shows the basic parts enabling operators to repair the electronic boards: the wiring
diagram and the screen-print of the components.
Chapter 4 describes the operations required for routine and extraordinary maintenance.
Instructions on how to calibrate the complete instrument are also given.
Chapter 5 summarizes the SERVICE COMUNICATIONS directly sent to the TECNICAL
SERVICE.

GUIDA AI GUASTI

Questo capitolo guida l’operatore all’individuazione dei guasti associati alle casistiche di
errori fino ad ora rilevati.
Ogni guasto è individuato con un codice ed associato alla verifica da effettuare: inoltre per
ogni verifica, viene riportato anche il numero di riferimento del pezzo di ricambio, in modo da
identificarlo chiaramente nel capitolo 1.
Inoltre tutti questi codici dei guasti sono memorizzati all’interno di una BANCA DATI
(mantenuta aggiornata in tempo reale) dove sono associati anche i tipi di interventi fino ad ora
intrapresi.

E’ intenzione della MOTORSCAN, al fine di facilitare le operazioni di riparazione, mettere

a disposizione del SERVIZIO TECNICO questi dati, inviando periodicamente il dischetto o
consentendo il collegamento via MODEM.
Al fine di aumentare sempre più i contenuti di questa BANCA DATI, invitiamo il ns
SERVIZIO TECNICO a compilare ed inviare (tramite FAX al numero 0521/266339) il MODU-
LO SEGNALAZIONE GUASTI allegato a questo capitolo.
Tutti gli apparecchi, dopo essere stati riparati, dovranno essere sottoposti a ritaratura o
verifica come descritto nel capitolo 4 paragrafo 1 "Tarature Apparecchio Finito".
Per facilitare l’analisi dei guasti, lo Smoke module prevede che il software SMT verifichi lo
stato di funzionamento dell’apparecchio.

TROUBLESHOOTING

This chapter helps the operator to identify faults according to the errors that have occurred up
to that time.
Each fault is identified by a code and is associated with the required inspection procedure.
Each inspection procedure also gives the reference number of the spare part so that this can be
clearly identified in chapter 1.
Furthermore, all these fault codes are memorized in a DATA BANK (kept updated in real
time) where the types of action taken to date are also given.
To facilitate repair work, MOTORSCAN intends to periodically send the TECHNICAL
SERVICE these data by simply forwarding the relative computer disk or by transmitting the
updates via MODEM.
Our TECHNICAL SERVICE technicians are therefore asked to fill out the FAULT FORM
enclosed with this chapter and to FAX it back to us on number 0521/266339 in order to increase
the contents of the DATA BANK on an on-going basis.
After they have been repaired, all the instruments must be calibrated again or inspected as
described in chapter 4, section 1 ‘‘Calibrating the Finished Instrument’’.
To facilitate the troubleshooting operations, Smoke module has a software SMT check the
status of the instrument.

PARTI FONDAMENTALI

Questo capitolo riporta le parti fondamentali per poter effettuare le riparazioni sulle schede
elettroniche quali: lo schema elettrico e la serigrafia componenti.
Per l’ Ekos mod. 9000 in caso di guasti a schede o a componenti di esse, sono previste
riparazioni, o in caso non si riesca a ripararle sostituzioni delle schede guaste; per questo vengono
riportati schema elettrico e la serigrafia componenti delle schede sono riportati di seguito.
In caso di riparazione o sostituzione di schede si dovrà procedere alla ritaratura o verifica
dell’apparecchio come previsto al capitolo 4 paragrafo 1 "Tarature Apparecchio Finito".

BASIC PARTS

This chapter lists the basic parts enabling the electronic boards to be repaired, i.e. the wiring
diagram and the screen-print of the components themselves.
Faulty boards or board components in Ekos mod.9000 can be repaired, or replaced if repairing
is impossible. The relative wiring diagram and screen print of the board components are hereby
enclosed.
If boards are repaired or replaced, the instrument must be re-calibrated or inspected as
indicated in chapter 4, section 1 ‘‘Calibrating the Finished Instrument’’.

Nella precedente figura è rappresentato lo schema di collegamento dei cavi elettrici tra le
schede dell’ apparecchio Smoke Module (ver.9000); partendo da destra abbiamo la scheda di
alimentazione (ME0050A), poi viene la scheda micro (ME0051B) e la scheda di pressione
(ME0087).
Le schede comunicano con vari dispositivi interni allo Smoke Module (ver.9000) e con l’
esterno tramite alcuni connettori e prese.

MANUTENZIONE

Questo capitolo descrive le operazioni da eseguire per fare la manutenzione ordinaria e

straordinaria dell’apparecchio.
Nel caso dell’ Ekos mod.9000, l’ apparecchio va correttamente installato, fatto funzionare
alle condizioni di lavoro e vanno eseguite le manutenzioni periodiche ordinarie e straordinarie
secondo quanto descritto nel manuale di istruzioni.
Nel SERVICE MANUAL SM9010 vengono descritte anche le operazioni per eseguire la
taratura dell’apparecchio completo.

MAINTENANCE

This chapter describes the required routine and extraordinary maintenance operations.
In the case of Ekos mod.9000, the instruments should be correctly installed, allowed to ope-
rate in normal work conditionsand subjected to periodic routine and extraordinary maintenan-
ce work as described in the instruction manual.
The SERVICE MANUAL SM9010 describes how to calibrate the complete instrument.

1 AGGIORNAMENTO SOFTWARE

Per aggiornare il software presente nella memoria interna dell’ Ekos, è sufficiente essere
muniti di:
A) Disco di Aggiornamento;
B) Personal Computer.

Procedere nel seguente modo:

1) Accendere l’ EKOS;
2) Verificare con i tasti <CTRL + F1> la versione del programma; se la versione è prece-
dente alla 1.1 del 16/02/95 procedere all’aggiornamento;
3) Spegnere l’EKOS ed accendere il Personal Computer;
4) Scollegare il cavo dalla presa RS232 dello Smoke Module MOD.9010 e collegarlo alla
COM1 del Personal Computer; inserire il dischetto di aggiornamento nel Drive A e digitare
<9000>: apparirà un messaggio sul monitor del PC per selezionare la normativa.
Digitare il numero corrispondente alla normativa desiderata.
A questo punto il programma partirà immediatamente;
5) Se il programma è partito correttamente, sul monitor del computer appariranno le se-
guenti scritte:
"Connect RS232 cable from PC (COM1) to EKOS"
"Press any PC key, turn on EKOS and wait"
6) Accendere l’ EKOS, premere un tasto sul PC ed attendere alcuni istanti: apparirà la scrit-
ta "RECEIVING NEW PROGRAM" che indica il trasferimento del nuovo programma. A que-
sto punto occorre attendere alcuni minuti;
7) Una volta completato il trasferimento apparirà "PROGRAMMING FLASH" che indica
la memorizzazione del programma nella memoria interna. Attendere alcuni istanti che l’
EKOS riparta automaticamente:

1 UPDATING SOFTWARE EKOS

To Update the software in the internal memory of Ekos, all you need is:
A) The updating Disk;
B) Personal Computer.

Proceed in the following way:

1) Power EKOS;
2) Press key <CTRL + F1> to check the installed program version. If it differs from the 1.1
of the 16/02/1995, proceed with the updating operation;
3) Switch off Ekos and power Personal Computer;
4) Disconnect the cable from socket RS232 on Smoke Module MOD.9010 and connect it
to COM1 on Personal Computer; insert the updating disk on drive A and type <9000> and
wait a few seconds: it will appears a message on the PC to select the regulation.
Press the number according to the desired regulation.
The program will immediatly begin;
5) If the program is correctly launched, the following messages will appear on the compu-
ter monitor:
"Connect RS232 cable from PC (COM1) to EKOS"
"Press any PC key, turn on EKOS and wait"
6) Power EKOS, press any key on PC and wait a few seconds. The message "RECEIVING
NEW PROGRAM" will appear on the display. This means that the new program is being tran-
sferred. Wait a few minutes;
7) Once transfert has termina-
ted, the "PROGRAMMING
FLASH" message will indicate
that the program has been memori-
zed in the internal memory. Wait a
few seconds for EKOS to automat-
ically restart. Ekos will have now
been updated.

A seguito segnalazioni che riportavano problemi di mantenimento ora e data, sono state fatte opportune
verifiche che hanno portato ad una serie di suggerimenti da seguire per evitare questo problema.
I suggerimenti che diamo e che saranno riportati anche sul manuale di istruzioni sono i seguenti:

• Per una perfetta ricarica della batteria mantenere acceso lo strumento (solo la parte superiore in quanto lo
SMOKE MODULE può restare spento) per almeno 36 ore consecutive. Questo garantirà un mantenimento
di ora e data per un periodo di almeno 30 giorni senza più riaccendere lo strumento.

• Se lo strumento viene acceso saltuariamente, ripetere almeno una volta al mese l’operazione descritta al
punto precedente per un tempo di almeno 12 ore.

Due to some malfunctions encountered with data and time keeping functions, we suggest the following
countermeasures to avoid the problem (these will be reported in the Istruction Manual, too):

- The instrument (the upper part only, not the Smoke Module) should be left turned on for at least 36 hours
consecutevely in order to perfectly recharge the battery. This operation guarantees that the data and time
keeping functions work correctly for at least 30 days without applying power to the instrument.

- Even if the instrument is sometimes turned on, the operation above should be repeated at least once a
month for 12 hours minimum.

Modifica per mantenimento

ora e data

La modifica descritta in questa comunicazione va fatta solo nel caso in cui, nonostante la ricarica di 36 ore
del terminale non abbia risolto il problema di perdita ora e data (vedi foglio “SERVICE” N° 26).

Aprire il terminale ed accedere al circuito stampato come indicato in figura 1.

Con un attrezzo apposito (tronchesino piccolo o forbice) eliminare il componente come indicato in figura 1.

Accertarsi della corretta operazione verificando che di aver asportato solamente il componente ed aver
lasciato intatto il ponticello di filo (figura 2).

Modification data and time

keeping

The following modification must be done only if, even if the keyboard has been recharged for 36 hours, the
problem of lack of data and time keeping hasn’t resolved.
Open the terminal and approach to the circuit as in picture 1.
With a cutting nipper or a pair of small scissors, take the component off, as in picture 1.
Check the operation and verify that only the component is taken off and the small bridge of wire is intact.

Ogni volta che viene digitato S + <INVIO> viene eseguita una stampa.
Digitando N si esce dalla prova.
È quindi possibile eseguire un numero arbitario di copie del report (da 0 a infinito).

Il software aggiornato nelle varie versioni è disponibile sul BBS MOTORSCAN.

Prelevandolo e scompattandolo su floppy disk, secondo le istruzioni del BBS stesso, verrà creato un disco di
installazione che sostituisce a tutti gli effetti quelli esistenti.

In alternativa può essere richiesto l’invio del nuovo software compilando e ritornando il modulo seguente:
