La trasmissione è di tipo meccanico monovelocità,
destinata per applicazioni su macchine industriali
(muletti o terne).
La trasmissione è realizzata con una quaterna di
ingranaggi con rapporto 1/1. Il moto viene trasmesso
in entrata ed uscita tramite flange. Gli alberi sono
sostenuti da cuscinetti a rulli conici per i quali
necessita la registrazione durante le operazione di
rimontaggio.

GENERAL INFORMATION
The transfer box dealt with in this manual is ia
single speed-mechanical type and intended for
industrial purposes (fork-lifts or back hoes).
The transfer box is equipped with a set of four gears
with ratio 1/1.
Torque is transferred through input and output
shafts. Shafts are supported by tapered roller
bearings which need adjusting during re-assembly.

A.2 INTRODUZIONE
II buon funzionamento ed il rendimento degli orga-
ni meccanici dipendono principalmente da una co-
stante e corretta manutenzione, QUINDI LA CON-
SULTAZIONE TOTALE DEL PRESENTE MA-
NUALE può favorire la durata e I'integrità del pro-
dotto ed evitare danni o infortuni
Nell'eventualità di guasti o anomalie anche il tem-
pestivo intervento da parte di personale specializ-
zato puo essere motivo di una durata piu lunga del
gruppo, evitando danni maggiori nel tempo. Inoltre
la valutazione del tipo di intervento di riparazione
può richiedere solamente lo smontaggio di alcuni
componenti operando solo parzialmente nel grup-
po.
Le illustrazioni per lo smontaggio/montaggio del
prodotto sono state impostate nell'eventualità di una
overhaulinge totale del gruppo, descritte in sequenza
tramite disegni con relativa spiegazione per in-
terventi precisi, ottenendo una guida totale e sicu-
ra per ogni fase dell'operazione e riportando, dove
necessario, le avvertenze relative all'operazione in
corso.
Nel caso di una overhaulinge o di una manutenzione
che richieda la rimozione dell'assale dal veicolo si
dovrà consultare il manuale fornito a tale proposito
dal costruttore del veicolo stesso: infatti nella de-
scrizione delle operazioni si presuppone che il pro-
dotto e sia stato già rimosso dal veicolo.
Il prodotto, se utilizzato in un impiego diverso da quel-
lo previsto, è da considerarsi soggetto ad "uso non
previsto". CARRARO SpA declina ogni responsa-
bilità per danni o incidenti risultanti da un uso di-
verso da quello previsto; tali conseguenze saran-
no a carico esclusivo del cliente.
Costituisce inoltre un elemento essenziale, nell'am-
bito dell'uso previsto, I'osservanza scrupolosa del-
le modalità di funzionamento e delle regolari ma-
nutenzioni e riparazioni specificate da CARRARO
SpA.
N.B. Prima di svolgere qualsiasi operazione è op-
portuno procedere ad una accurata pulizia del pro-
dotto togliendo se neccessario incrostazioni ed ac-
cumuli di terriccio e/o grasso.
Il prodotto deve essere controllato e/o riparato solo
da persone a conoscenza delle sue particolari ca-
ratteristiche e delle relative norme di sicurezza (pre-
venzione infortuni).

GENERAL INFORMATION
A.2 INTRODUCTION
CONSULT THIS MANUAL THOROUGHLY ,as
proper functioning and good efficiency of
mechanical organs depends mostly on constant
and correct maintenance which could promote the
integrity and duration of the axle and avoid
damages or any harm to the mechanic.
Quick intervention by specialised personnel in case
of any damages or anomalies could avoid future
impairment and lengthen the working life of this
group.
Moreover repair work estimation could merely
require dismounting of only a few components and
thus operating partially on the group.
The LEFT and RIGHT side can be identified by
looking at the line of march.
Product disassembly /assembly illustrations have
been outlined with a possibility for total group
overhauling. They have also been described in
sequence through photographs with revelant
explanation for specific interventions, thus
obtaining a complete and safe guide for each and
every phase of an operation. Whereever
necessary, instructions regarding the operation in
progress have been included.
The manual supplied by the vehicle manufacturer
should be consulted in case of a overhauling or
maintenance intervention requiring the removal of
axle from the vehicle. Operation description
presumes that the product has already been
removed from the vehicle.
If product is used for any other purpose than the one
foreseen, CARRARO SpA declines any
responsibility regarding damages or accidents
caused by it. All consequences will be at the
expense of the client.
However, when used as foreseen, operational
formalities as well as regular maintenance repair
specifications given by CARRARO SpA are to be
observed strictly.
Please Note:
Before performing any operation it is advisable to
carry out product cleaning accurately by removing
soil\grease encrustings and accumulation.
Product should be checked \repaired only by
people acquainted with its peculiar features and
well aware of all safety instructions.

I A.2 PREMESSA
Le misure in questo manuale sono espresse sia
nel sistema metrico decimale che nel sistema in-
glese.
Utilizzare solo parti di ricambio e viteria corrette
onde evitare problemi di tenuta o altro, inoltre usa-
re utensili metrici per la viteria metrica e inglesi per
la viteria inglese.
Tutti gli organi meccanici smontati devono essere
accuratamente puliti con prodotti adeguati, per evi-
tare possibili danni, verificandone I'integrità, sosti-
tuendoli in caso di danni, usura, incrinature, grippaggi
o altro che potrebbe intaccare il buon funzionamen-
to dell'assale.
In particolar modo si deve verificare I'integrità del-
le parti in movimento (cuscinetti, ingranaggi, albe-
ri) e delle parti di tenuta (anelli OR, paraoli), sog-
gette a maggiori sollecitazioni, usura, invecchia-
mento.
Si consiglia vivamente di sostituire ad ogni revisio-
ne o riparazione gli organi di tenuta.
Alcune operazioni sono distruttive per alcuni
componenti del prodotto, quindi leggere attentamen-
te le descrizioni delle varie fasi dell'operazione

GENERAL INFORMATION
A.2 FOREWORD
This manual indicates all measurements in Metric
Decimal System as well as Imperial Measure.
Use appropriate spare parts, nuts and bolts to avoid
any other problems. Moreover use metric tools for
metric nuts and bolts and Imperial tools for the
other.
All disassembled mechanical parts must be
cleaned accurately with suitable products to avoid
possible damage. Parts should be replaced if
damaged, worn out, cracked,seized, etc as they
could affect proper functioning of the axle.
Wholeness of parts in movement (bearings, gears,
shaft) and that of tightening parts should be
examined carefully as they are subject to major
stress, wearing and ageing.
We highly advice you to replace tightening parts
during every teardown or repair.
Replacement of a part of the bevel gear set requires
the replacement of the other part too. Please read
the intervention instructions very carefully because
same operations are destructive for some axle
components.
Weight and dimension measurements are not
reliable as the illustrations such as photographs,
drawings and other manual components are not to
scale due to description and space limitations.
The illustrations are supposed to point out the
various handling sequences and phases of product
and their components.

Il livello del lubrificante nel prodotto deve essere a
filo del tappo di controllo (3), altrimenti provvedere
al rabbocco con olio dello stesso tipo (Vedi Sez. A3)
dal tappo (1).
Nel caso in cui si riscontri una perdita o altro che
determini l'abbassamento del livello, è opportuno
intervenire immediatamente onde evitare possibili
danni agli organi meccanici.
Per scaricare l'olio dalla trasmissione svitare il
tappo (2). O = 370.13 + 371.10
P = 80 ±
In the product, lubricant should flush the control
tap (3), if not, it should be filled up with the same
oil (See section A.3) from plug (1).
If leakage or any other factor determining fall in the
oil level is found, then it is advisable to cheek
immediately, in order to avoid damages to the
mechanical parts.
Loosen and remove the drain plug (2) for oil
draining (Part.2).

A.7 ACCORGIMENTI ED A.7 RECOMMENDATIONS AND

OPERAZIONI DI REVISIONE OVERHAULING OPERATIONS
Anelli di tenuta per alberi Shafts seals

Per il montaggio degli anelli di tenuta attenersi alle
seguenti raccomandazioni:
- Pulire accuratamente l'albero ed assicurarsi che la
zona di contatto con gli anelli non sia danneg- giata,
rigata o ovalizzata.
- Montare gli anelli in modo che il labbro sia rivolto
verso il lato olio.
- Lubrificare il labbro degli anelli (usare preferibil-
mente olio) e riempire per 3/4 di grasso la camera
degli anelli stessi.
- Montare gli anelli usando un appropriato
calettatore. Non usare il martello direttamente sugli
anelli.
- Non danneggiare gli anelli durante il montaggio
dell'albero.
Respect the following recommendations during
seal and gasket assembly:
- Clean shaft very carefully and ensure that the part
in contact with the rings is not damaged, cut or out
of roundness.
- Assemble the seals so that the lip is fitted towards
the oil side.
- Lubricate seal lips (use oil) and fill 3/4 of seal
barrel with grease.
- Use appropriate driver. Do not use a hammer
directly on the seals.
- Do not damage the seals while assembling the
shaft.

Cuscinetti Bearings

Per un corretto montaggio è consigliabile riscal-
darli in forno ad una temperatura di 80° C - 90° C
prima di montarli sui rispettivi alberi o raffreddarli
prima di inserirli nelle relative sedi con piantaggio
esterno.
It's advisable to heat up bearings to 80°C - 90°C
before assembling them onto their respective
shafts or to cool them (dry ice) before inserting into
corresponding bedding.

Spine elastiche Elastic pins

Al montaggio delle spine elastiche ad intaglio Make sure that the stressing force is towards the

Le spine elastiche a spirale invece non necessitano
di alcun orientamento di montaggio.
Sigillante
Usare sigillanti secondo le specifiche. Assicurarsi
che le parti da sigillare siano pulite, asciutte e
completamente prive di grasso.
Scarico dell'olio
Prima di intervenire sull'assale è necessario
scaricare l'olio dalla scatola assale. (Vedi Sez. A.4).
ATTENZIONE
Smaltire gli oli esausti nel rispetto delle vigenti
norme.
Pulizia
Lavare accuratamente tutte le parti in movimento
relativo (ingranaggi, cuscinetti, ecc.) utilizzando
gasolio o cherosene.
E' da evitare l'uso di benzina e soluzioni acquose
alcaline. Evitare lavaggi con vapore o acqua calda
perchè sarebbe difficile eliminare completamente
l'umidità superficiale.
Asciugare accuratamente tutti i particolari
mediante un getto d'aria o stracci per evitare di
rigare le superfici con residui abrasivi.
Tutte le superfici devono essere ricoperte da un
leggero strato di lubrificante per proteggerle da
eventuali ossidazioni.
Controlli
Verificare accuratamente tutti i cuscinetti, gli anelli
esterni eventualmente ancora piantati nelle proprie
sedi; i perni su cui rotolano i rullini. Sostituire quei
particolari che presentano tracce di usura o di
danneggiamento.
Controllare che tutti gli ingranaggi non presentino
avarie od usure eccessive delle dentature: gli
smussi dei denti non devono essere deteriorati.
Controllare che tutti i tratti scanalati siano privi di
usure eccessive o di altri danneggiamenti.
Sostituire i particolari avariati con ricambi originali.
Dopo ogni smontaggio è buona norma sostituire le
guarnizioni di tenuta sugli alberi rotanti.

Oil drain
Before operating on the axle, oil should be drained
out from the box. (Ref. Section A.4).
WARNING
Disposal of exhaust oil must be done according
to laws.
Cleaning
All moving parts (gears, bearings, etc) are to be
washed accurately with gas oil or kerosene.
Petrol and watery alkline solutions are to be
avoided. Do not wash with steam or hot water as it
will be very difficult to eliminate surface humidity.
Dry all parts with a rag or air jet to avoid scratching
from abrasive residuals.
All surface area should be covered with lubricant so
as to protect it from future oxidation.
Checks
Examine accurately that all bearings,external rings
which may be still stuck in their position;pivot pins
on which rolls rotate and replace those which are
worn out or damaged.
Gears should not be spoiled and toothing should
not be excessively used.Teeth smoothing should
not be deteriorated.
Check all grooves: assure that they are not worn out
or damaged.
Replace spoiled parts with original spare parts.

Manutenzioni in sicurezza

Fix the group elements before starting vehicle.
Remove the paint before welding or reheating
Avoid potential toxic smoke and dust.
Dangerous fumes can be produced when the paint
is being heated by welding or using a welding torch.
Carry out the work in a well ventilated area.
Remove paint and solvents in a appropriate way.
If you use solvents or varnish removers, remove
them with soap and water before welding.
Remove solvent containers, varnish removers or
other flammable products from the working area.
Let the fumes disperse for at least 15 minutes
before welding, heating or restart working on the

Per rimontare il gruppo si dovrebbe impiegare

sollevamento.

Cuscinetti
Usare estrattori adatti per rimuovere i cuscinetti.
Prima di rimontarli, pulirli, ispezionarli e lubrificarli.
Raccomandazioni sul lubrificante per assali e
trasmissioni CARRARO.
Per ottenere una corretta lubrificazione ed una
esatta temperatura di funzionamento nei prodotti
CARRARO, è importante usare lubrificanti adatti
(SEZ. A.3), mantenendo inoltre i livelli costanti.

While hammering at flange and tool ends during
removal or installation, attention must be paid to the
varios phases. Funtioning and integrity of tool as
well as various components must not be
endangered.
Reassembling methods
Adequate holding equipment should be used for
reassembling the group.
Lifting system will be necessary for reconnecting,
disassembling and reassembling the ring gear or
for holding the gear box.
Use cross section drawings to ease assembly and
disassembly operations.
Bearings
Use correct pullers for bearings removal.
Clean, lubricate and inspect well before
reassembling the bearings.
Recommendations regarding lubrication of the
CARRARO axles and transmissions.
Use suitable lubricants and regularly check the
levels to ensure correct lubrication and operating
temperature in CARRARO transmissions
