1 INFORMAZIONI DI BASE SUL VEICOLO

Il veicolo ZEUS è equipaggiato con un pacco batterie da 288 V e 57 kWh nominali,

composto da 78 celle litio-polimeri di fornitura Kokam, del tipo 200 Ah High Power
Density.
Il cassone è realizzato in acciaio, le pareti interne sono rivestite in materiale isolante
ed ammortizzante che protegge le celle da urti e vibrazioni; il materiale in questione
è di tipo autoestinguente; i morsetti di collegamento delle celle sono ricoperti di
apposito materiale isolante. Delle traverse interne in acciaio impediscono lo
spostamento delle celle all’interno del cassone e garantiscono una ulteriore
resistenza alle deformazioni. Un fusibile extrarapido da 250 A collocato all’interno
del cassone, protegge la batteria ed i cavi di collegamento da cortocircuiti esterni. Il
connettore dei cavi di potenza è posto sulla parte superiore del cassone.

1 BASIC INFORMATION ABOUT THE VEHICLE

The ZEUS vehicle is equipped with a 288 V and 57 kWh nominal batteries pack;
composed of 78 lithium-polymer cells supplied by Kokam, of 200 Ah High Power
Density type.
The housing is realised in steel, the internal walls are covered with insulating and
dampening material that protects the cells against bumps and vibrations; the
aforementioned material is of self-extinguishing type; the contact clamps of the cells
are covered with appropriate insulating material. The internal steel crosspieces
prevent the moving of the cells inside the housing and guarantee additional
resistance against deformations. A 250 A extra fast fuse placed inside the housing
protects the battery and connection cables against external short-circuit. The
connector of the power cables is placed on the upper part of the housing.

2 AVVERTENZE GENERALI

Prima di qualsiasi movimentazione e/o attività sul cassone batterie tenere presente
le seguenti prescrizioni:
• Non aprire il cassone. Solo personale specializzato ed autorizzato dal costruttore
può accedere alle parti interne della cassa batterie.
• Non collegare il polo positivo e il polo negativo del connettore di potenza tramite
oggetti metallici
• Non danneggiare il cassone batterie e le celle in esso contenute.
• Per rimuovere il cassone utilizzare adeguati ed idonei mezzi di sollevamento,
sollevandolo dal basso nei punti previsti. Il peso della cassa completa è di circa
500kg.
• La rimozione dal veicolo può essere eseguita solo dopo aver disconnesso i
connettori presenti sulla parte superiore del cassone e sganciato i due fermi
meccanici laterali.
• In caso di contatto accidentale delle sostanze contenute nelle batterie con la
pelle o con gli occhi sciacquare immediatamente con abbondante acqua pulita e
contattare subito un medico per evitare danni e irritazioni delle parti interessate.
• Non effettuare saldature sul veicolo con le batterie di trazione collegate; non
effettuare saldature sul cassone o nelle parti limitrofe per evitare
danneggiamenti alle celle. In caso di necessità di saldature interpellare il
costruttore.
• Non utilizzare misuratori di isolamento su parti in tensione e parti elettroniche,
pena il danneggiamento delle stesse.
• Ricordare che la tensione di batteria, potenzialmente superiore a 300V, è sempre
presente sul connettore di uscita di potenza e sui cavi ad esso collegati , anche a
veicolo fermo e spento e anche quando il cassone è scollegato dal veicolo e/o
poggiato in terra all’esterno del veicolo
• Tutti i lavori eseguiti su parti elettriche devono essere eseguiti solo da personale
tecnico specializzato e abilitato a tale scopo.
• Se la cassa batterie mostra una perdita di isolamento non porre in ricarica e
contattare il fornitore.
• Non ricaricare mai batterie anche lievemente danneggiate.
• In caso si sviluppino gas o odori durante la ricarica staccare immediatamente le
batterie e contattare il fornitore.
• Non ricaricare le batterie a bordo di un veicolo danneggiato o su cui si siano
riscontrate perdite o diminuzioni di isolamento
• Per la ricarica e la custodia delle batterie attenersi alle istruzioni contenute nel
manuale di uso e manutenzione del veicolo

2 GENERAL WARNINGS

Before any handling and/or activity on the batteries housing, please remember the
following instructions:
• Do not open the housing. Only qualified personnel authorised by the
manufacturer can access the internal parts of the batteries housing.
• Do not connect the positive and negative poles of the power connector by means
of metallic objects.
• Do not damage the batteries housing and the cells contained in it.
• To remove the housing use adequate and suitable lifting means, lifting it from the
prearranged points at the bottom. The weight of the complete housing is about
500kg.
• The removal from the vehicle can be executed only after having disconnected the
connectors present on the upper part of the housing and unhooked the two
lateral mechanical retainers.
• In case of accidental contact of the substances contained in the batteries, with
skin or eyes immediately rinse with abundant clean water and contact a doctor
right away to prevent damages and irritations of the parts involved.
• Do not execute welding on the vehicle with the traction batteries connected; do
not execute welding on the housing or on the surrounding parts to prevent
damaging the cells. If welding is necessary, contact the manufacturer.
• Do not use insulation meters on live parts and electronic parts, to prevent them
from being damaged.
• Remember that the battery tension, potentially over 300V, is always present on
the power output connector and on the cables connected to it, even with vehicle
stopped and turned off and when the housing is disconnected from the vehicle
and/or placed on the ground external to the same vehicle.
• All the works executed on the electric parts must be executed only by trained
and qualified technical personnel.
• If the batteries pack shows an insulation loss, do not recharge and contact the
supplier.
• Never recharge batteries that are even slightly damaged.
• If gas or odours develop during recharging, immediately disconnect the batteries
and contact the supplier.
• Do not recharge the batteries on board a damaged vehicle or on which insulation
losses or reductions have been detected.
• For the batteries recharging and keeping, follow the instructions in the vehicle’s
use and maintenance manual.

3 COSA FARE IN CASO DI INCIDENTE

• Mettere in sicurezza il veicolo, aprire le porte per consentire l’uscita dei
passeggeri
• Ruotare la chiave di accensione in posizione OFF
• Aprire il sezionatore delle batterie ausiliarie a 24 V
• Evacuare il veicolo il più rapidamente possibile, facendo allontanare le persone
dal mezzo e dall’area interessata dall’evento. Richiedere tassativamente
l’intervento di personale specializzato per gestire l’emergenza.

Prima di ogni intervento il personale specializzato deve sempre:

• Indossare guanti di protezione
• Scollegare il morsetto di potenza e il BMS tra veicolo e batteria
• Verificare sempre l’isolamento del veicolo rispetto ai poli della batteria e
l’isolamento degli stessi rispetto alla carcassa del cassone. la lettura tramite
voltmetro adeguato deve sempre mostrare valori non superiori ad 1 V verso la
massa del veicolo.
• Accertarsi inoltre che le altre parti del veicolo siano integre e consentano la
circolazione su strada
• Trainare il veicolo fino all’officina

Operazioni da eseguire in officina:

Nel caso in cui il cassone risulti visibilmente danneggiato e/o si sia verificata una
perdita di isolamento:
• Indossare i guanti di protezione
• Rimuovere il cassone dal veicolo avendo cura di controllare che tutti i
collegamenti elettrici del medesimo verso il veicolo siano scollegati e che i fermi
laterali del cassone siano stati sbloccati; interporre del materiale isolante tra il
cassone e le forche del transpallet.
• Poggiare il cassone su un supporto isolante
• Mettere in sicurezza l’area circostante il cassone ed impedire che personale non
autorizzato abbia accesso all’area in oggetto
• Contattare il fornitore per ripristinare il corretto funzionamento della batteria
• Effettuare un accurato controllo visivo del veicolo, delle parti danneggiate e di
tutti i componenti alimentati a tensione di batteria di trazione. Accertarsi che
non vi siano danni
• Effettuare sempre e comunque sul veicolo la prova di isolamento dopo un
incidente, anche in assenza di danni evidenti; contattare il fornitore per
l’esecuzione della prova di isolamento.

3 WHAT TO DO IN CASE OF ACCIDENT

• Adopt safety measures for the vehicle, open the doors to allow passengers to exit
• Rotate the ignition key to OFF position
• Open the disconnecting switch of the 24 V auxiliary batteries
• Evacuate the vehicle as fast as possible, making the people move away from the
vehicle and area involved by the event. Strictly request the intervention of
qualified personnel to handle the emergency.

Before every intervention, the qualified personnel must always:

• Wear protection gloves
• Disconnect the power clamp and the BMS between the vehicle and battery
• Always verify the insulation of the vehicle compared to the poles of the batteries
and insulation of the same compared to the body of the housing. The reading
through suitable voltmeter must always show values not over 1 V on the vehicle
mass.
• Also make sure that the other parts of the vehicle are intact and allow road
circulation
• Tow the vehicle to the workshop

Operations to be executed in workshop:

• If the vehicle is visibly damaged and/or an insulation loss has occurred:
• Wear protection gloves
• Remove the housing from the vehicle being sure to check that all the electric
connections of the same to the vehicle are disconnected and that the lateral
retainers of the housing are unblocked; place some insulation material between
the housing and the transpallet forks.
• Place the housing on an insulating support
• Adopt safety measures for the area surrounding the housing and prevent that
unauthorised personnel has access to the mentioned area
• Contact the supplier to restore the correct operation of the battery
• Execute an accurate visual check of the vehicle, damaged parts, and all the
components powered by the traction battery. Make sure that there are not any
damages
• Always execute the insulation test on the vehicle after an accident, even in
absence of visible damages; contact the supplier for the execution of the
insulation test.

4 COSA FARE IN CASO DI INCENDIO O PRINCIPIO DI INCENDIO

• Mettere in sicurezza il veicolo, aprire le porte per consentire l’uscita dei

passeggeri
• Ruotare la chiave di accensione in posizione OFF
• Aprire il sezionatore delle batterie ausiliarie a 24 V
• Evacuare il veicolo ed allontanare le persone dal mezzo
• Contattare i Vigili del Fuoco
• Indossare i guanti di protezione e contenere l’incendio con l’estintore in
dotazione
• Non respirare i gas generati dalla combustione
• Non toccare il cassone e l’area del veicolo interessata dall’incendio neanche con
i guanti per le elevate temperature che si possono generare
• Se l’incendio interessa il vano batterie evitare di aprire il portellone per non
alimentare le fiamme con una maggiore portata d’aria.

I Vigili del Fuoco debbono:

• Indossare i guanti di protezione

• Scollegare il morsetto di potenza e il BMS dal veicolo.
• Spegnere le fiamme utilizzando solo estintori del tipo adatto ad incendi di natura
elettrica (normalmente caricati a CO2)per spegnere eventuali fiamme.
ATTENZIONE: non utilizzare acqua per spegnere incendi per non generare
cortocircuiti. Evitare accuratamente di toccare contemporaneamente il veicolo e
il cassone batterie oppure il veicolo e le parti in tensione (DC/DC Converter,
inverter, motore , caricabatteria, se presente sul veicolo, e cablaggi provenienti
dalle batterie di trazione).

4 WHAT TO DO IN CASE OF FIRE OR STARTING OF A FIRE

• Adopt safety measures for the vehicle, open the doors to allow passengers to exit
• Rotate the ignition key to OFF position
• Open the disconnecting switch of the 24 V auxiliary batteries
• Evacuate the vehicle and make the people move away from it
• Contact the Firemen
• Wear the protection gloves and contain the fire with the supplied fire
extinguisher
• Do not breathe the gasses generated by the combustion
• Do not touch the housing and the area of the vehicle involved by the fire, not
even with gloves due to the high temperatures that can be generated
• If the fire involves the batteries compartment, avoid opening the hatchback so to
not feed the flames with more air.

The Firemen must:

• Wear protection gloves.

• Disconnect the power clamp and the BMS from the vehicle.
• Extinguish the flames only using fire extinguishers suitable for electrical fires
(normally loaded with CO2) to extinguish possible flames. WARNING: do not use
water to extinguish fires in order to not generate short-circuits. Carefully avoid
touching the vehicle and the batteries housing or the vehicle and the live parts
(DC/DC Converter, inverter, motor, battery charger, if present on the vehicle, and
cabling coming from the traction batteries) at the same time.
