ARSUTORIA is the leading School of Footwear at a worldwide level.
No doubt ARSUTORIA is the more known international school for

The school has been organising courses in the field of footwear
pattern making since 1947. Initially all our courses were targeted to
the technicians working in the italian footwear factories
Today the majority of our students are international. Language
spoken is english and we welcome this amazing experiences of
having so many different cultures in our classes
We are strongly committed to keep a focus on the good practices to
design and manufacture quality shoes. ARS-LAB is the name of our
sample room, a unique facility equipped with all the machineries
used in factories to make shoes
The school is located near the center town of Milan. In the early 60s
a 7.000 sqm building was built in via Nievo 33 where ARSUTORIA
still today has its offices and classrooms. We offer accommodation
to our students in apartments located in the same building of the
school
OUR VALUES
FOCUS
We believe it is important to keep our courses focused on making
shoes. Today we organize design and range building classes too but
we strongly believe that everything starts from a deep knowledge
of materials and components, of technical constructions,
manufacturing and engineering techniques.
Shoes are not bags is another fundamental value in our training
offer. Here at ARSUTORIA School courses in the field of shoes and
bags are separate curriculums: everything is different: from the
teachers to the materials, tools and machines used.
DURATION
Our target students cannot spend years at school. Most of our
students already have a working experience or they have graduated
in other schools. Mainly their background is in fashion design or
business administration. We do not require a diploma to enroll in
our courses nor a specific background.
Our courses start from the fundamentals but at the same time our
graduates are considered ready to work. We offer courses with a
maximum duration of three months. All our courses are full time
intensive: class hours are 9 am to 5 pm. One or two teachers are full
time in the class every day interacting with our students.
INTERNATIONAL
Most of our teachers come from Italy but not only. We welcome
professionals from all over the world and the same for students. We
encourage all students to speak english during the entire course
because our industry is fully globalized. Apart from italian students
here you will find participants from United States, Europe, Latin
America and Far East.
ACCREDITATION
During 2015 we have obtained the ISO 9001:2008 certification from
SGS, for development and provision of courses on footwear and
handbags design, engineering and manufacturing. EA sector: 37

SPECIALIZZAZIONE
Crediamo sia importante mantenere un forte indirizzo tecnico ai
nostri corsi. Organizziamo anche corsi di design e progettazione
collezioni, ma crediamo che alla base della formazione di chi opera
nel settore delle scarpe ci debba essere una profonda conoscenza
del prodotto: dei materiali dei componenti, delle costruzioni, della
progettazione e della produzione.
Le scarpe non sono borse un altro valore fondamentale dei nostri
corsi: in ARSUTORIA i corsi di scarpe e di borse sono separati: gli
insegnanti sono differenti cos come i materiali e i macchinari usati.
DURATA
I nostri studenti non possono stare a scuola per anni. Molti di loro
hanno gi una esperienza lavorativa in fabbrica o hanno studiato
in scuola di moda o ad indirizzo economico. Non richiediamo un
diploma come prerequisito per partecipare ai corsi e nemmeno un
background particolare.
I nostri corsi iniziano dai fondamentali ma allo stesso tempo i
nostri diplomati sono considerati dalle aziende pronti a lavorare.
Offriamo corsi di una durata massima di tre mesi: tutti i nostri corsi
sono a tempo pieno. Le lezioni si tengono dalle 9 alle 17. Uno o due
docenti dedicano tutta la giornata alla classe ogni giorno lavorando
con gli studenti.
INTERNAZIONALIT
Molti dei nostri docenti sono italiani, ma non solo. Abbiamo docenti
da ogni parte del mondo e lo stesso vale per i nostri studenti.

In the past few years we have been organising short courses to
teach the fundamentals of shoemaking in the US. Since 2009 with

INTERNATIONAL COURSES
For more than 10 years we have been organising footwear classes
in different countries in collaboration with footwear associations.
To mention a few: ACICAM in Colombia, CLE in India, APIMEX in
Mexico. We have been working also with footwear associations in
Japan, Thailand and Vietnam.
We welcome collaborations with other italian and international
schools. In these past few years we have been teaching classes and
making prototypes for Istituto Marangoni, Domus Academy and
IED in Italy, FDDI in India, TafTC in Singapore, Inescop and CoCo
in Spain. In 2014 we have started a collaboration with the University
of Oregon to create a short course targeted to the US sport footwear
industry

Profile and background of the students have changed along these
years: we keep on training pattern makers and technical developers.
Even though now a relevant part of our graduates are looking for a
design job. Recently we have also trained professionals working in
footwear retail
Still part of our students represent the second or third generation of
owners of footwear brands and shoe factories. Just to name a few
Pura Lopez, Ursula Mascar, Chetan Gupta, Dario Rossetti, among
the others.

students are financed by a company. For those that finance the
course directly we try to put them in contact with italian (those that
speak a very good italian and do not need a visa to work in Italy) and

SUPPORT TO YOUNG DESIGNERS
There is also an increasing number of students that are willing to
start a shoe brand. Graduates that recently started a footwear brand
are Cristina Palomo of Freda Salvador, Heather Williams, Martha
Davis, Nicole Brundage, Sarah Flint and Emily Cooper of Meandher
among the others
During 2015 we have decided to launch a new consulting service
to support those graduates that wish to start a shoe brand and
want to manufacture their shoes in Italy. Every year we will select
very few graduates and we will work with them in the start-up of
their business. We will operate only in the supply side: sourcing of
materials, development of lasts, soles and heels and manufacturing
in Lombardia. We also rely on a network of past students of
ARSUTORIA that can support our graduates if we are not in the
condition to work directly with them

PREREQUISITES
A prior experience in the footwear industry is beneficial but not
required to attend this course. Students are required to attend
three online courses on the fundamentals of shoemaking on our

DESCRIPTION AND OBJECTIVES
This 13 weeks class has been the core offering of ARSUTORIA School
for almost 70 years. Objective of the course is to teach footwear
pattern making techniques.
The pattern engineer is the professional that translates the ideas
of the designer into a product. His main responsibility is the
engineering of the patterns for upper and lining. He also needs to
have a good knowledge of:
the entire manufacturing process
the development of the shoe last and of all the bottom components
such as insoles, soles and heels
the performance of the different materials that can be used in
production such as leathers, synthetics and fabrics
The pattern making techniques are fundamental to the design
process that leads to the creation of a footwear collection. The
strength of Italian pattern engineers is one of the key ingredients
for Italian reputation in the field of footwear.
The industrial shoe making process is the main focus of the course.
Those that wish to work in the field of handmade/bespoke shoes
can benefit a lot from this course but we target professionals that
deal with both italian and international factories. That is one of the
reasons why we have invested in the set up of a footwear sample
room equipped with all the machines needed to make shoes in a
factory (including toe and back lasting machines). Our students
need to learn in depth every step of the shoemaking process in a
conveyor line
The ARSUTORIA diploma is issued at the end of the course to
students that have successfully completed the assessment.
Our graduates have different career options: pattern maker in a
shoe factory but also designer or product manager of shoes.

Questo corso di 13 settimane stato il cuore degli insegnamenti di
ARSUTORIA da quasi settantanni. Obiettivo del corso insegnare le
tecniche di modelleria della calzatura.
Il modellista il professionista che traduce le idee del designer in
un prodotto. La sua responsabilit principale lingegnerizzazione
del modello di tomaia e fodera. per importante che abbia una
buona conoscenza di:

Le tecniche di modelleria sono fondamentali a supporto del processo
creativo che porta alla realizzazione di una collezione di calzature.

reputazione italiana nel settore della calzatura
La produzione di calzature a livello industriale il focus di questo
corso. Coloro che desiderano lavorare nel campo della calzatura
fatta a mano possono trarre grande beneficio dal corso ma le
tecniche che vengono insegnate sono principalmente rivolte
a chi nel futuro lavorer con le fabbriche di scarpe italiane ed
internazionali. Questo uno dei motivi per i quali abbiamo deciso
di investire nella creazione di un laboratorio prototipi equipaggiato
con le stesse macchine di una fabbrica (incluse premonta e calzera).
I nostri studenti devono conoscere nel dettaglio tutti i passi della
produzione di una scarpa su una manovia

DETAILED COURSE AGENDA
WEEK 1 - 9: PATTERN MAKING
The learning approach of the ARSUTORIA working method begins
with cemented / board lasted constructions and the pattern making
of the easier and more classic styles such as pump, ballerina, derby,
oxford and loafer. The course starts teaching the main classic
measures, traditional proportions and correct style lines for every
type of basic mens and womens shoes.
Once the basis is established, the learning path brings students
to a more advanced level with the study of more difficult designs
such as: more complicated pumps and challenging lace-up shoes
together with simple and asymmetric sandals.
Ankle boots and boots (including lessons on patterns needed for
vamp crimping), moccasins with a hand stitched sample and
asymmetric styles are also part of this second stage.
Recently we have decided to introduce one final week dedicated
to strobel pattern making, a construction commonly used in the
athletic industry which is becoming more and more popular in the
casual segment too
One entire week is dedicated to the use of CAD systems in the
footwear industry. We focus our training on the use of CAD for
pattern making of upper and lining. Lessons cover both 3D and 2D:
the use of the digital file of a last, the flattening of the shell, pattern
making, basics of size grading, nesting and cutting and calculation
of material consumptions.
WEEK 10 - 12: PROTOTYPING
Starting from week 10 students are challenged to put in practice the
techniques they have learned and they are required to develop one
or two prototypes with the support of the ARS-LAB
At the beginning of week 10, students have to think of a design that
they are going to make: they choose bottom components among
those available at the school. Along these years we have developed
few shoe structures on sample sizes: coordinated sets of lasts,
insoles, soles and heels that students can use for their designs.
During week 10 they develop the technical project of the patterns
for upper and lining and they cut the pieces in the materials they
have chosen. Leathers, fabrics and synthetics are also available at
the School. Students can decided to buy different materials if they
do not find a proper choice among those available at the school
In week 11 they work side by side with a professional stitcher that
works with them in the preparation of the uppers: splitting, skiving,
reinforcing and then stitching
During week 12 they work with expert italian shoe technicians in
the sample room making the prototypes of their shoes: toe and
back lasting, bottom roughing and pounding, heel nailing and
sole attaching. One of their prototypes is lasted with the machines
(unless it requires hand lasting) and one is hand lasted by students.
In week 13 students spend a day at the Kenda Farben shoe finishing
laboratory where they can apply different finishing to their
prototypes with the help of the company specialists.
WEEK 13: FINAL ASSESSMENT
The final exam is an opportunity to recap all the subjects covered
during the course and to assess the progress in skills and
knowledge. It takes the entire week and it includes a fit testing
session on students prototypes, a written test, a practical exercise
and an interview
AGENDA DEL CORSO
SETTIMANA 1 - 9: MODELLERIA
Il metodo ARSUTORIA parte dallimparare la costruzione incollata
e la realizzazione dei modelli pi semplici e pi classici come la
dcolletee, la ballerina, il derby, loxford e la pantofola. Il corso inizia
con linsegnamento delle principali misure classiche, le proporzioni
tradizionali e linee di stile corrette per ogni tipo di scarpa, sia da
uomo sia da donna.
Una volta stabilita questa base, il percorso di apprendimento porta
gli studenti ad un livello pi avanzato attraverso lo studio di modelli
pi difficili: dcolletee e calzature allacciate pi complesse, oltre a
sandali semplici e asimmetrici. Stivaletti e stivali (incluse lezioni
sui modelli e sulla tecnica per la cambratura della mascherina),
mocassini con una prova cucita a mano dagli studenti e stili
asimmetrici fanno parte di questa seconda fase.
Recentemente abbiamo deciso di introdurre una settimana finale
dedicata alla costruzione strobel, una tecnica tradizionalmente
usata per la calzatura sportiva che ha sempre maggior successo
anche nel segmento casual
Una intera settimana dedicata allutilizzo del CAD nel settore
della calzatura. Ci concentriamo sulluso del CAD per la modelleria
di tomaia e fodera. Le lezioni riguardano luso del 3D e del 2D: il
trattamento del file della forma, lo spianamento della camicia, la
realizzazione dei pezzi del modello, nozioni di sviluppo taglie, di
piazzamento e di taglio, di calcolo dei consumi di materiale.
SETTIMANA 10 - 12: PROTOTIPIA
A partire dalla settimana 10, gli studenti si mettono alla prova nel
mettere in pratica le tecniche che hanno imparato e sviluppano uno
o due prototipi con il supporto del ARS-LAB
Allinizio della settimana 10 gli studenti devono pensare ad un
proprio design che poi andranno a realizzare: scelgono componenti
tra quelli disponibili presso la scuola.
Nel corso di questi anni abbiamo sviluppato diverse strutture sulle
taglie base: forme coordinate con sottopiedi, suole e tacchi che gli
studenti possono utilizzare per sviluppare i loro design.
Durante la settimana 10 si sviluppa il progetto tecnico dei modelli
per tomaia e fodera e si tagliano i pezzi nei materiali scelti
Pelli, tessuti e sintetici sono disponibili presso la Scuola. Gli studenti
possono scegliere di acquistare materiali differenti se non trovano i
materiali giusti per il loro design tra quelli disponibili a scuola
Nella settimana 11 lavorano fianco a fianco con una orlatrice
professionista nella preparazione della tomaia: spaccatura,
scarnitura, rinforzo ed orlatura
Durante la settimana 12 lavorano con tecnici italiani di grande
esperienza nel montaggio dei loro prototipi nel laboratorio:
premonta e calzera, smeriglia, ribattitrice, inchiodatura tacchi ed
incollaggio suola. Un protototipo viene montato a macchina dai
tecnici (a meno che richieda un montaggio manuale) e un secondo
viene montato a mano direttamente dallo studente
Nellultima settimana gli studenti passano una giornata intera nel
laboratorio di finissaggio di Kenda Farben, dove sperimentano le
differenti tecniche di finissaggio sui loro prototipi.
SETTIMANA 13: ESAME FINALE
Lesame finale una opportunit per riassumere tutti gli argomenti
coperti durante il corso e per valutare il progresso di ogni singolo
studente. Lesame dura una settimana intera ed include una
sessione di prova di calzata dei prototipi realizzati dagli studenti, un
test scritto, una prova pratica e un colloquio.

(cemented, stitched, injected, vulcanised) and materials used
(leathers, rubbers,thermoplastics, polyurethanes, EVA, etc)
edge finishing and proper use of threads
machines, processes and constructions to manufacture shoes
PATTERN MAKING LESSONS
Most of the class time is dedicated to footwear pattern making, a
topic which we believe is indispensable for both designers and
technicians. We do not teach the ARSUTORIA working method just
because it is the most accurate set of engineering rules used in the
footwear industry. There are many different ways to work the same
shoe pattern and some of them are good, fast and precise. Even our
past students have often adapted and refined what they have learned
at school. What is really unique of this learning approach is that our
instructors do not teach only their experience but they teach a basic
framework of knowledge that is very practical and helps students
address the challenges they will face in a real environment of shoe
design and production.

VISITS TO FACTORIES
During the course we organise visits to one footwear manufacturing
plant and one leather tannery. This is a unique opportunity for our
students to better understand the exceptional heritage of the Italian
factories in the fields of leather and footwear manufacturing. In
these past few years we had the chance to visit those factories
that produces shoes for Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Fratelli Rossetti,
Louboutin, Manolo Blahnik.
PROTOTYPING AT ARS-LAB
We strongly believe that a shoe pattern making course must include
a number of hours dedicated to making shoes. During the first part
of the course students are directly involved in hand lasting sessions
of basic styles to learn the principles of the pattern engineering
techniques taught and how they influence footwear construction.
Then in the second half of the course they watch our instructors
using the same machines of a shoe factory to make their prototypes.

Gran parte del tempo in aula dedicato alle tecniche di modelleria
di calzature, un argomento che riteniamo indispensabile sia per i
designer che per i tecnici. Non insegniamo il metodo ARSUTORIA
solo perch il pi accurato sistema di regole ingegneristiche usato
nel settore delle calzature. Ci sono diversi metodi per realizzare gli
stessi modelli e alcuni sono ottimi, veloci e precisi. Anche i nostri
ex allievi hanno spesso adattato e messo a punto quanto hanno
imparato a scuola. Quello che davvero unico di questo metodo di
insegnamento che i nostri docenti non si limitano a trasmettere la
loro esperienza ma insegnano un sistema di regole e principi molto
pratico e immediatamente spendibile per affrontare le sfide di un
ambiente di lavoro reale.

di calzature ricercano nella loro selezione.

Durante il corso organizziamo una visita ad un calzaturificio e una
visita ad una conceria. Questa unopportunit unica offerta ai
nostri studenti per comprendere la straordinaria tradizione delle
fabbriche Italiane nel campo della manifattura della pelle e delle
calzature. In questi anni abbiamo avuto la possibilit di visitare le
fabbriche dove vengono realizzate le calzature per Chanel, Louis
Vuitton, Fratelli Rossetti, Louboutin, Manolo Blahnik.
REALIZZAZIONE PROTOTIPI NELL ARS-LAB
Siamo convinti che un corso di modelleria scarpe debba includere
alcune ore dedicate a realizzare le scarpe. Durante la prima parte
del corso gli studenti sono coinvolti direttamente in sessioni di
montaggio a mano di modelli semplici al fine di comprendere
meglio i principi delle tecniche di modelleria insegnate e come
esse influenzano la costruzione. Nella seconda parte del corso
osservano da vicino i nostri istruttori che realizzano i loro prototipi
con lutilizzo dei macchinari di una fabbrica.

The quality of a shoe often depends on the quality of materials used.
Nevertheless the ability of factory workers contribute to a relevant
part of the final result together with the quality and accuracy of
components used (e.g. lasts and insoles)
That is the reason why we have decided to set up a complete and
running sample making facility in ARSUTORIA School. A team
of italian expert workers guide our students through the unique
experience of making shoes.
Students do not learn how to use the machines but they will
understand what happens in production. They can interact with
the technicians while their prototypes flows through the different
steps of manufacturing. They assist step by step while their design
is translated into a real product
Every student work on his/her shoe sample but they all also have the
opportunity to learn by looking at the projects of the other students.

3D/2D CAD CAD 3D/2D
Nowadays 2D CAD systems are commonly used in most of the
footwear factories for pattern engineering and cutting.
For this reason we have decided to dedicate one classroom to
footwear CAD with state of the art workstations and industry
software. 2D pattern making, material consumption calculation and
spec sheet preparation are covered during the 13 week course. An
automatic cutting table is available at the ARS-LAB for students to
practice pattern nesting on various materials and automatic cutting.
3D CAD has been available on the market for many years, our
teachers have been using these softwares and they have been
testing their performances ever since.
In the recent years 3D CAD technology has reached a very good
quality and footwear companies are increasingly implementing
these technologies both in the pattern making area and in the design
/ line-building area.
The use of 3D CAD requires specific skills. ARSUTORIA School
has decided to dedicate part of the 13 week course to teach the
fundamentals of use of a technical 3D CAD.
Lessons cover last digitizing, flattening and pattern making.
ARSUTORIA School teachers are currently involved in projects with
footwear companies aimed at implementing 3D CAD solutions in
the field of 3D design and virtual prototyping.

implementare queste tecnologie per la modelleria e la progettazione

DESCRIPTION AND OBJECTIVES
Overall objective of the course is to immerse participants in the
process of creative development of a collection of footwear.
The course is targeted to students graduated in fashion schools, to
professionals already working in the field of shoes (both in shoe
brands or retailers) and to profiles with different backgrounds who
intend to explore the possibility to pursue a career in the footwear
industry. After completing this course students will learn how to
focus their creative ideas and present them through a good level of
sketching.
A great advantage of this class is the duration: four weeks only make
possible for workers to take a period off and travel to Italy. That is
why a significant part of the class is made of senior professionals.
Part of them have an experience in the footwear industry, while
others are completely new and theyre willing to gain a better
understanding of the industry in a short time.
The course is very intense: full time, five days per week. Teachers
have a challenging schedule to provide a solid foundation or to

Obiettivo generale del corso immergere i partecipanti nel processo
di sviluppo creativo di una collezione di calzature.
Il corso rivolto a studenti diplomati in scuole di moda, a
professionisti che gi lavorano allinterno di aziende di calzature
(brand o retail) o a profili provenienti da settori diversi che
intendono valutare la possibilit di iniziare una carriera nel settore
delle calzature. Al termine del corso gli studenti acquisiranno le
competenze per ricercare a mettere a fuoco le proprie idee creative
e presentarle attraverso lo strumento del disegno.
Un grande vantaggio di questo corso la durata: quattro settimane
soltanto permettono a chi lavora di prendersi un periodo di ferie
e frequentare la classe. Per questa caratteristica, una buona parte
della classe composta da professionisti. Alcuni con esperienza nel

BEFORE THE BEGINNING OF THE COURSE
Those students that have not attended the 13 week course before this
4 week collection design class, are required to complete three online
courses. These three online courses provide the fundamentals
of shoemaking that we believe are needed to better leverage this

WEEK 1: HAND SKETCHING
During the first week of the course, participants will learn the basic
concepts of the construction and hand drawing of different styles
of footwear. Starting from an analysis of the proportions of the shoe
last, each student will create sketches of insoles, heels and outsoles
of various kinds. Then a selection of the most important upper
constructions will be studied and students will learn how to draw
them.
In order to develop his/her own creativity, each student will be
asked to draw a variation of each style studied, taking inspiration
from an image. For each type of footwear and component discussed
there will be a practical example and teaching materials.
WEEK 2: USE OF PHOTOSHOP AND ILLUSTRATOR
The second week of the course will be dedicated to the use of Adobe
Illustrator to create technical drawings and Photoshop to create
illustrations of footwear.
Initially we will explain the main basic functions of the two
programs. Subsequently, starting from a hand sketch, we will teach
how to make a precise technical drawing of a shoe with stitching
details and accessories with the support of Adobe Illustrator.
Next step is how to add materials such as leather and fabrics and
other details needed for a realistic illustration with Photoshop.
To take the course each student will have to carry a notebook (a
mouse or graphic tablet is highly reccomended) with the Adobe
software that will be used for the course (Photoshop and Illustrator,
recommended version CS6, freely downloadable as a 30 day-trial
from the Adobe website)
WEEK 3 - 4: COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT
During the third week we will address the processes of collection
development: from market analysis to the application of the
important activities of merchandising. That means how to set up
a collection and how to research your idea, both for those creative
people who want to work in a company or those who want to realize
their own line.
We will delve into trend forecasting activities to plan a succesfull
collection, starting with the basis of the trend forecasting process,
with the aid of our very own ARSUTORIA Trend Guide and the
analysys of the most important fashion shows (NYC, London, Milan,
Paris) to find coherence between products.
In particular, we will analyze structures of collection, families of
products, materials and their applications. The different activities
and functions involved in the process for more structured realities
will also be explained. Timing of collection development from design
to retail according to the timing of the sector and the moments of
delivery within the A/W and S/S seasons.
Actual examples of merchandising plan from fashion companies
are explained and analyzed.

SETTIMANA 1: DISEGNO A MANO
Durante la prima settimana del corso i partecipanti impareranno i
concetti di base della costruzione e del disegno a mano di diversi
stili di calzature. Partendo dallo studio delle proporzioni della forma,
si arriver a creare lo schizzo di sottopiedi, tacchi, suole e fondi
di vario genere. Si studier poi una selezione dei pi importanti
modelli di tomaie e ogni studente imparer a disegnarli.
Ogni partecipante, allo scopo di iniziare a sviluppare la propria
creativit, disegner una variazione di ogni modello trattato
prendendo ispirazione da unimmagine. Per ogni tipologia di
calzatura e componente trattato vi sar un esempio pratico e
materiale didattico.
SETTIMANA 2: UTILIZZO DI PHOTOSHOP E ILLUSTRATOR
La seconda settimana di corso sar dedicata allutilizzo del
programma Adobe Illustrator al fine di creare disegni tecnici e di
Photoshop per creare illustrazioni di calzature.
Inizialmente verranno spiegate le funzioni di base dei due
programmi. Di seguito, partendo da uno schizzo a matita, verr
insegnato come realizzare un disegno tecnico preciso con cuciture
e dettagli di accessori con il supporto di Adobe Illustrator.
Il passo successivo linserimento di materiali quali pelli e tessuti e
di altri dettagli per una illustrazione realistica con Photoshop.
Per partecipare al corso ciascun studente dovr portare con
s un computer (mouse e/o tavoletta grafjca sono caldamente
raccomandati) con installati i software Adobe che saranno usati per
il corso (Photoshop e Illustrator, versione consigliata CS6, scaricabili
gratutamente come prova di 30 giorni dal sito Adobe)
SETTIMANA 3 -4: SVILUPPO DI COLLEZIONE
Durante la terza settimana verranno affrontati i processi di
sviluppo di una collezione: dallanalisi del mercato allapplicazione
dellimportante attivit del merchandising. Quindi come impostare
una collezione e come ricercare la propria idea sia che il creativo
desideri lavorare in una azienda sia che voglia realizzare la propria
linea.
Gli studenti verranno immersi nel processo di ricerca tendenze, a
cominciare dalle fondamenta della ricerca tendenze, servendoci
di strumenti come la nostra ARSUTORIA Trend Guide e lanalisi
delle pi importanti passerelle internazionali (NYC, Londra, Milano,
Parigi) per individuare temi ed elementi comuni tra i prodotti
presentati.
In particolare si analizzeranno strutture di collezione, famiglie di
prodotti, materiali e loro applicazioni. Verranno anche spiegate le
diverse attivit e funzioni aziendali che partecipano al processo
nelle realt pi strutturate. Verranno affrontati i timing di sviluppo
collezioni dal design al retail secondo le tempistiche di settore ed i

During the last week students will work on a project that will be
assigned to them. We will recreate the atmosphere of a typical style/
product office of a footwear company.
Students will work as a team to design collections and the creative
part will be supported by the teachers.
This phase will stimulate students and their creativity, and will allow
them to deal directly with all that they have acquired in previous
lessons.
In particular, a preliminary group activity will take place, to study
the DNA of the brand, check its position in the market and analyze
competitors. We will highlight the key elements of the brand itself
and the thorough way in which this brand communicates and sets
its collections
Then, individual work will follow, aiming to design and build
a moodboard and from this to create a mini collection through
freehand drawings, rendering and application of materials and
colors
Each student will present his/her draft collection to the teachers and
to the other participants for a final evaluation. The draft prepared for
the final presentation can then be used by the participants as their
portfolio.
Parte del tempo in aula inoltre verr dedicato allimportanza di
come comunicare la propria idea: riteniamo infatti il tema della
comunicazione un anello fondamentale di questo processo
Durante lultima settimana gli studenti lavoreranno su un progetto
che verr loro affidato. Verr ricreato lambiente caratteristico di un
ufficio stile/prodotto di una azienda di calzature.
Gli studenti lavoreranno come un team di progettazione collezioni e
la parte creativa verr supportata dai docenti.
Questa fase oltre a stimolare creativamente lo studente gli
permetter di confrontarsi in modo diretto con tutto quello che
hanno acquisito nelle lezioni precedenti.
In particolare verr svolta una preliminare attivit di gruppo per
studiare il DNA del brand, verificare la sua posizione sul mercato ed
analizzare i competitors. Verranno messi in evidenza gli elementi
chiave del brand stesso e approfondito il modo in cui tale brand
comunica e come imposta le sue collezioni
Seguir poi un lavoro individuale volto a ideare e costruire un
moodboard e a partire da questo creare una mini collezione
attraverso disegni a mano libera, rendering e applicazione di
materiali e colori
Al termine del lavoro ciascuno studente presenter il proprio
progetto di collezione ai docenti e agli altri partecipanti per una
valutazione finale. Il progetto preparato per la presentazione finale

Durante un percorso di nove mesi, con lezioni tenute al sabato, gli studenti potranno apprendere il rinomato metodo
ARSUTORIA di sviluppo dei modelli conosciuto e utilizzato in tutto il mondo da circa 70 anni.

Il metodo si basa sullapprendimento di una serie di regole classiche e di tecniche di risoluzione dei problemi di modelleria
Tipologie di calzature affrontate: Derby, Decollt, Oxford, Sandalo, Pantofola, Polacco, Stivaletto, Stivale, Mocassino tubolare, nelle varianti
sia maschili che femminili.

La sequenza del percorso didattico prevede:

Creazione delle basi generiche delle forme e tramite delle prove in carta controllo della precisione della tecnica appresa.
Disegno e interpretazione del modello assegnato. Questa operazione viene effettuata sia in piano che sulla forma
mostrando quando e come utilizzare le due tecniche complementari.
Realizzazione dei modelli specifici, e controllo con delle prove in carta al fine di apprendere come realizzare i pezzi componenti
della tomaia, delle fodere e dei rinforzi.
Disegno e compilazione delle buste produzione.

Tutto il lavoro manuale propedeutico allutilizzo di sistemi di sviluppo tramite sistemi CAD-CAM specifici della calzatura, che durante la
seconda parte del corso (due settimane di perfezionamento) vengono inseriti nellattivit didattica per permettere agli studenti di ottenere una
competenza attualmente molto richiesta dai calzaturifici.

Il corso prevede anche lezioni teoriche mirate alla conoscenza base dei materiali e dei componenti della calzatura, quali per esempio: pellami,
forme, sottopiede e suole. Gli studenti imparano i dettagli tecnici che sono strettamente necessari a lavorare nelle modellerie e a confrontarsi
con i fornitori del calzaturicio.

Il corso si conclude con 2 settimane in sede a Milano, durante il quale viene verificato il percorso didattico svolto nei mesi precedenti
integrandolo con dettagli stilistici e tecnici che permettono di affrontare modelli di difficolt superiore.
In questo periodo viene afrontato anche lutilizzo degli strumenti CAD

Infine agli studenti viene riconosciuto un diploma ARSUTORIA che certifica la partecipazione e il conseguimento di uno standard di
preparazione.

This class can be taken as a full 5 day training session or split into two modules. First three days are dedicated to Footwear Fundamentals with
last two days focused on the Awareness of Value: Costing. Complimentary, unique and invaluable tools and devices will be given to attendees
to take away for future personal use in addition to a USB pen drive with information on all topics addressed.

PRE-REQUISITES
Attendees should have at least two/three years industry experience prior to attending our class OR take previously our 10 hour e-learning course
which will prepare them to understand better the topics that will be addressed. This unique on-line course will be offered complimentary to
those who sign up for the full five day class or the first three day session on Footwear Fundamentals.

place in Milan: TheMicam and Lineapelle are both organised in the
Milan fairground and they attract thousands of professionals every
year to the city
APPLICATION AND ENROLLMENT
Applications have to be submitted online at

Upon receiving the application the school issues a proposal with
tuition and accommodation fees.
In order to keep a reasonable ratio between students and teachers
we accept only a limited number of students for each class and we
enroll them on a first arrived basis. Once we receive an application
from you we will keep you in the loop of next dates and number of
seats available in each class.
PAYMENT AND REFUND POLICY
Enrollment fee, not refundable: 30% to secure a seat in the class
(and the accommodation). The balance 70% has to be settled one
month before the beginning of the course. In case the student is not
in the condition to attend the course, the school allows to postpone
the participation to a future session: the student has to pay again the
enrollment fee.
VISA
Depending on your citizenship, the duration and reasons for your
stay you may need to obtain a visa before coming to Italy.

If you plan to stay in Italy for more than 90 days to attend both the
13 week and the 4 week course, you need a study VISA. ARSUTORIA
School is a Professional training centre recognized by Lombardia
Region (Registration Number 939). Among the documents you
have to provide the Italian consulate, you need the invoice of the
tuition fees and an enrollment letter from the School. More info are

As soon as the full payment is received, our offices will prepare and
send the student all the needed documents.

ISCRIZIONE ED AMMISSIONE

Una volta ricevuta la domanda di iscrizione la scuola invia una
proposta con le quotazioni per i corsi scelti e leventuale alloggio
Al fine di tenere un rapporto equilibrato tra numero di studenti ed
insegnanti accettiamo un numero limitato di studenti e lammissione
avviene in ordine di iscrizione. Una volta ricevuta la domanda di
iscrizione vi terremo aggiornati sulle prossime date e sul numero di
posti disponibili in ciascuna classe
PAGAMENTO E RIMBORSO
Tassa di iscrizione, non rimborsabile: 30% della retta per riservare
un posto in aula (e lalloggio). Il restante 70% deve essere saldato un
mese prima dellinizio del corso. Nel caso lo studente non fosse in
grado di partecipare al corso, la scuola permette di partecipare a una
sessione successiva: lo studente dovr pagare nuovamente la tassa
di iscrizione.
VISTO PER STUDIO
A seconda della tua cittadinanza della durata e delle ragioni della
tua permanenza, possibile che tu debba ottenere un visto prima di

Se intendi rimanere in Italia per pi di 90 giorni per frequentare
