We are pleased to be able to present
a new club troll, and hope that you
like the package.
Only 2000 of this troll are being
produced, and the package will only
be on sale in 2005 while supplies last.
This cheerful troll was originally
designed by New Form Troll founder
Trygve Torgersen, but remained
hidden in his papers for a long
time, before re-emerging recently.
We thought the little guy looked
so cheerful, and we wanted to
present him as a club troll – in all his
simplicity. We hope that his cheerful
disposition will serve to inspire and
bring joy!
Last year we launched a new product
here in Norway which we call “Troll
Tea”. It was a success, and we decided
that we would also let you, our troll
collectors, get to taste it. Hope it
tastes good – enjoy!

Troll wurden 2000 Exemplare
angefertigt. Das Angebot ist in 2005

Dieser fröhliche Troll wurde zu seiner
Zeit von dem Ny Form Troll-Gründer
Trygve Torgersen gezeichnet, doch
der Entwurf war in einer Schublade
liegengeblieben, bis er vor Kurzem
wieder aufgetaucht ist. Der kleine Kerl
machte einen so fröhlichen Eindruck
auf uns, dass wir Lust bekamen, ihn
als neuen Klub-Troll zu präsentieren
– in all seiner Einfachheit. Hoffentlich
kann sein positives Wesen als
Inspirationsquelle dienen und Freude
spenden!
Im letzten Jahr haben wir hier in
Norwegen ein neues Produkt lanciert,
das wir „Troll-Tee“ nennen. Der Tee
war ein riesiger Erfolg und deshalb
möchten wir, dass Ihr, die Sammler
unserer Trolle, ihn auch probieren
könnt. Wir hoffen, er schmeckt Euch
– zum Wohl!

Hi - here I am!
Your new club troll! I am a happy and cheerful
troll, and my favorite thing is when everyone
around me is cheerful, too. I know that the saying
that “laughter is contagious” is entirely right. I
smile at you – and you smile at me!
Of course, I come from the mountain village Tynset in Norway,
like all of the other real Norwegian trolls, but what is special
about me is that I lay a bit forgotten in a drawer for several
years. When the people of Tynset found me there was a big
fuss: production was set in motion, and up I stood from the
drawing block. Not surprising that I am stretching a bit!
My design father is the same as that of the very first New Form
trolls, Trygve Torgersen. You can read more about him on our

I hope you can give me a good place in your home – but make
sure I don’t get too much sunlight directly on me. That is a little
too much of a good thing for us trolls!

Dein neuer Klub-Troll! Ich bin ein fröhlicher und
glücklicher Kerl und fühle mich am wohlsten, wenn alle
um mich herum ebenfalls froh sind. Ich weiß, dass das
Sprichwort „Lächeln ist ansteckend“ wahr ist. Ich schenke
dir ein Lächeln – du lächelst zurück!
Selbstverständlich komme ich aus dem Bergort Tynset
in Norwegen, so wie alle anderen echten norwegischen
Trolle. Das Besondere an mir ist, dass ich einige Jahre
vergessen in einer Schublade lag. Als die Leute aus
Tynset mich endlich fanden, brach großer Jubel aus.
Die Produktion wurde aufgenommen, ich habe Gestalt
angenommen und den Zeichenblock verlassen. Kein
Wunder, dass ich mich strecke!
Der Vater meines Entwurfs ist der gleiche, der auch schon
die aller ersten Ny Form-Trolle entworfen hatte, nämlich

Il vostro nuovo troll del club! Sono un troll allegro e
vivace e la cosa che mi fa più piacere è vedere felici
anche tutti coloro che mi circondano. Sono convinto che
il detto “l’allegria è contagiosa” sia proprio giusto. Io vi
sorrido – e voi mi sorridete!
Ovviamente provengo dal paesino montuoso di Tynset
in Norvegia, come tutti gli altri veri troll norvegesi,
ma ciò che mi rende speciale e l’essere rimasto un po’
dimenticato in un cassetto per molti anni. Quando la
gente di Tynset mi trovò ci fu un gran trambusto: la
produzione fu messa in movimento ed io schizzai fuori
dal foglio da disegno. Nessuna sorpresa quindi se mi
stiracchio un po’!
Il mio creatore è lo stesso che ha disegnato i primi troll

Interview with Paco Labiaga:
Los Troll – Mexico
In November we were lucky to have Paco
Labiaga from Los Troll in Mexico on a visit.
It was snowing terrible here that weekend,
but Paco was as cheerful as always.
He also brought his nephew this time, and
they spend the weekend at Oppdal with
us. We used the chance to make an inter-
wiev with him:
1. Why do you think trolls are popular in Mexico?
– Because they bring good luck, cute beings!
2. What kind of trolls do we find in Mexican fairytales?
– We don’t have fairytales in Mexico. We have “spirits of
the dead people of the forest” but nothing about trolls. The
creatures Alushes, Cheneques and Alebrijes are “the spirits of
the forest”. They are both good and bad.
3. Do you grow up with trolls in Mexico?
– My son Pacito grew up with trolls. His 100 is his best friend.
The kids that are 12 year old grew up with trolls, since I started
with trolls 12 years ago. I have met a family that has over 100
trolls!
4. What do you think about Ny Form trolls?
– They are horribly beautiful
5. How, do you think, should we treat our trolls?
– With love, take care of them in the dark side of the house.

You have to believe in them, that the energy of the troll can help
you. I believe in the energy of the trolls.
6. Do you believe that trolls has a soul?
– No, sorry! I have soul, they have energy. The soul is my energy
as a human being, but do you think Energizer (the battery) has
a soul? A troll has a personality there are no trolls that are the
same, they are all different. All trolls have charisma.
7. Do you think that it is true that trolls bring good luck?
– Yes, definitely.
8. Is there any kind of troll activities in Mexico, like a troll
festival for example?
– No, but there is a Trolls Royce. We don’t have festivals. I
drive the Trolls Royce all over the city. People react by asking
and talking to me. They are very well accepted now, but they
weren’t at the beginning.
9. What kind of a company is Los Trolls, and where in
Mexico do we find you?
– A happy company. You can find us in the Santa Fe Mall and in
Valle de Bravo that is the original place where the troll came to
Mexico. There is a place in the wood at Valle de bravo where I
found a green hill with a house that looks like it was made for
trolls. (He will send a picture)
10. I have heard that you have a story about a troll-egg.
Can you please share that story with our troll-collectors?
– It was not an egg, there were live trolls. On the TV, on the
best rating programme in Mexico, they asked me about trolls.
I have alive trolls. I came through the castoms and there was
a special place for the trolls, but when they asked me to open
I said that they would be stone if I open the box. After that
everybody started calling me saying “wow I also have a live troll.
It kidnapped my son into the forrest.” People went crazy! I was
born again after I met the trolls. I was a lawyer and then started
a new life.
11. How did you meet the trolls?
– I was in the forest and some time in the night they attacked
me! Ha, ha – no, I saw them in the Norwegian shops on a
holyday, bought one and took it to Mexico, and my good luck
started.
You cannot just buy a troll, you have to adopt a troll. When you
get a troll, you have to treat him. You have to have an attitude
“I’ll behave in the right way”. There’s a chemistry when people
buy trolls. People ask how do I find the right troll and I say don’t
choose, the troll will choose you. And they say “Oh yes, it’s
looking at me,” and I say, “well, take this one then!” So the trolls
are accepting you as a parent.
Trolls in Mexico
Everybody told me that it would last 1-2 years. That it would just
be a swift fashion. I was going to go all the way from Mexico
City to Hollywood, to Beverly Hills, in the Troll Mobile. My wife
is a writer and I want to ask her to write a movie about trolls
and maybe Steven Spielberg would be interested?
I didn’t do that because they said it was just a fashion. But I’m
still going after 12 years. And Harry Potter and LOTR have trolls
in the story. – I live on trolls!

Los Troll – Mexiko

Im November hatten wir die Ehre, Paco Labiaga zu Besuch zu haben. Es
schneite ganz fürchterlich an diesem Wochenende, aber Paco war wie immer
bester Laune. Er hatte diesmal seinen Neffen mitgebracht und zusammen
verbrachten wir das Wochenende bei uns in Oppsal. Wir haben die Gelegenheit
dazu genutzt, ein Interview zu machen:

1. Warum glaubt ihr, dass Trolle so beliebt in Mexiko sind?

- Weil sie Glücksbringer sind, nette Kerle!
2. Welche Art von Trollen finden wir in mexikanischen Erzählungen?
- Wir haben keine Trollgeschichten in Mexiko. Wir haben „die Geister der
toten Waldleute“, aber nichts über Trolle. Die Gestalten Alushes, Cheneques
und Alebrijes sind „Geister des Waldes“. Sie sind sowohl gut und böse.
3. Wächst man in Mexiko mit Trollen auf?
- Mein Sohn Pacito ist mit Trollen aufgewachsen. Nr. 100 ist sein bester
Freund. Die Kinder, die älter als 12 Jahre alt sind, kennen sich mit Trollen aus,
weil ich vor 12 Jahren mit dem Verkauf von Trollen begonnen habe. Ich habe
eine Familie getroffen, die über hundert Trolle hat!
4. Was haltet ihr von den Ny Form Trollen?
- Sie sind schrecklich schön.
5. Wie glaubt ihr, sollte man Trolle behandeln?
- Mit Liebe. Passt gut auf sie auf und platziert sie an einer dunklen Stelle im
Hause. Man muss an Trolle glauben, daran, dass ihre Energie uns Menschen
helfen kann. Ich glaube an die Energie der Trolle.
6. Glaubt ihr, dass Trolle eine Seele haben?
- Nein, leider nicht. Menschen habe eine Seele, Trolle haben Energie. Die
Seele ist die Energiequelle des Menschen, aber glaubst du, dass Energizer (die
Batterie) eine Seele haben? Ein Troll hat Persönlichkeit. Kein Troll gleicht dem
anderen; sie sind alle unterschiedlich. Trolle haben Charisma.
7. Glaubt ihr, es ist wahr, dass Trolle Glück bringen?
- Ja, ohne Zweifel.
8. Gibt es in Mexiko Troll-Veranstaltungen, wie zum Beispiel ein
Trollfestival?
- Nein, wir haben keine Festivals, aber es gibt einen Trolls Royce, mit dem ich
durch die Stadt fahre. Die Leute reagieren auf den Wagen, stellen Fragen und
unterhalten sich mit mir. Mittlerweile haben sie den Trolls Royce akzeptiert; am
Anfang war das anders.
9. Was für ein Betrieb ist Los Trolls und wo in Mexiko kann man ihn
finden?
- Los Troll ist ein glücklicher Betrieb. Man kann uns in der Santa Fe Mall und in
der Valle de Bravo finden. Dies sind die Orte, an denen die Trolle ursprünglich
in Mexiko angekommen sind. Im Wald von Valle de Bravo gibt es einen grünen
Hügel mit einem Haus, das so aussieht, als wäre es für Trolle gemacht. (Er wird
uns ein Bild schicken).
10. Ich habe davon gehört, dass du eine Geschichte über ein Troll-Ei
kennst. Würdest du diese Geschichte bitte unseren Troll-Sammlern
erzählen?
- Es handelte sich nicht um ein Ei, sondern um lebendige Trolle. In einem
Fernsehprogramm mit sehr hohen Einschaltquoten in Mexiko habe ich von
meiner Begeisterung für Trolle berichtet. Ich erzählte, dass ich lebendige Trolle
habe. Und weiter: Einmal bin ich durch den Zoll gegangen und hatte die Trolle
in einer speziellen Schachtel untergebracht. Als die Zöllner mich baten, meine
Gepäck zu öffnen, sagte ich, dass die Trolle sich in Steine verwandeln würden,
wenn ich die Schachtel öffnete. Nach dieser Episode haben mich viele Leute
angerufen und erzählt, dass auch sie lebendige Trolle haben. Einer sagte sogar,
dass Trolle vor einiger Zeit seinen Sohn entführt und in den Wald verschleppt
haben. Wahnsinn! Seitdem ich die Bekanntschaft der Trollen gemacht habe,
fühle ich mich wie neugeboren. Früher war ich Anwalt, aber jetzt habe ich ein
neues Leben begonnen.
11. Wie hast du die Trolle kennen gelernt?
- Ich war im Wald und irgendwann in der Nacht haben sie mich angefallen!
Ha, ha, ha.... nein, nein, ich habe sie in den Ferien in einem norwegischen
Geschäft gesehen, habe einen gekauft und mit nach Mexiko genommen. Und
so nahm mein Glück seinen Lauf.

Man kann nicht einfach einen Troll kaufen, man muss ihn adoptieren. Wenn du
einen Troll bekommst, solltest du ihn richtig behandeln. Man muss die richtige
Einstellung haben und sich immer wieder sagen: „Ich mache das Richtige.“ Es
entsteht eine eigene Chemie zwischen Troll und Käufer. Die Leute fragen mich
oft, wie sie den richtigen Troll finden können. Ich antworte ihnen, dass nicht
der Käufer den Troll wählt, sondern der Troll den Käufer. Oft sagen die Leute:
„Oh ja, er sieht mich an“ und ich antworte: „O.k., dann nimm ihn doch!“ Die
Trolle akzeptieren den Menschen dann als Elternteil.

Trolle in Mexiko
Jeder hat mir gesagt, dass das Interesse für Trolle nicht länger als ein bis zwei
Jahre andauern würde. Dass es eine Modeerscheinung sei. Ich wollte den
ganzen Weg von Mexiko City nach Hollywood, nach Beverly Hills in meinem
Troll-Mobil zurücklegen. Meine Frau ist Schriftstellerin und ich wollte sie bitten,
einen Film über Trolle zu schreiben, der vielleicht Steven Spielberg interessant
finden würde? Ich habe meine Frau nicht gefragt, weil viele der Meinung
waren, dass es sich lediglich um eine Modeerscheinung handelt. Aber nach
12 Jahren laufen die Geschäfte immer noch fabelhaft. Und sowohl bei Harry
Potter als auch im Herr der Ringe kommen Trolle vor. –Trolle sind mein Leben!

from Tynset
New Form Trolls are

a fantasy about, and New
Form trolls were very well

generation of the family in
developing the trolls.

Who is Espen Schulze?

- I grew up with trolls, and have always
had them in my life. I am a grandson
of Trygve and Evelyn Torgersen, who
started New Form, and my parents
continued to run the production

What is your role at New Form
today?
Espen is now the managing director of
New Form Souvenir, the part of New
Form which owns the trolls which
New Form produces. He is involved in
choosing new models, and his aim is to
carry on the form and style created by
Trygve Torgersen and Bjørn Schulze.
– We constantly work with the classic
New Form model, and are very focused
on maintaining quality.

Con i troll verso il futuro
Per aiutarci a sviluppare nuovi
modelli ci avvaliamo ora di due nuovi
collaboratori provenienti dall’Istituto
di Arti e Mestieri di Oslo, che si
cimenteranno nel disegnare nuovi
troll. Provengono dalla stessa scuola in
cui si è formato Trygve Torgersen tanti
anni fa’.
Come vengono creati i troll?
I nuovi modelli di troll nascono dai
suggerimenti e dalle reazioni dei
collezionisti nonché dell’intero sistema
di marketing correlato. Molte persone
ci inviano i loro commenti e noi stessi
cerchiamo di essere un po’ creativi.
L’aspetto più importante è il fatto di
sentirci dentro al mondo dei troll e di
non lasciarci trasportare dal dilagante
materialismo che ci circonda.
Il troll preferito di Espen è il numero
211, il troll più grande di Trygve
Torgersen.

Modelle. Mein Ziel ist
die Weiterentwicklung
der Stilform, die
Trygve Torgersen
und Björn Schulze
entworfen hatten.

besonders
auf die

Troll-tea
Trolls love tea, and for
generations trolls have grown
herbs for their very own
special troll tea.
The tea that is included in this year’s club
pack includes apple-mint, peppermint,
strawberry leaves, anise hyssop, fireweed
and stonecrop petals. The high quality
of the tea is a matter of honour for
the trolls, so the time of harvesting is
carefully chosen, and they are careful not
to dry their herbs at temperatures over
100°F.
“Our pure natural environment helps
to ensure that we have the best quality
herbs, and by growing them organically,
we emphasize the importance of
respecting the environment,” explain
the trolls. “We keep the herbs in the
bag whole, so that we can maintain the
taste and aroma as well as possible. The Herbal tea is usually light colored and

lintananza un teatro molto antico,
forse cercava qualche altro troll,
magari un troll Greco Romano
com’e’ d’orgine questo antico
teatro, communque io scalai l’isloa
Bella fino a raggiungerlo e gli feci
compagnia per tutto li tempo che
lui rimase li.

Try to find a funny situation and of course take a photo and send

1. Das Troll-Haus
Ich sende Euch diese Bilder, um
meiner Leidenschaft für Trolle Ausdruck
2003 zu verleihen. Sie zeigen meine gesamten
Arbeiten von 1999 bis heute.
Alles fing eines Abends im Keller meines
Hauses an und noch heute besitze ich die
gleiche Leidenschaft wie am ersten Tag.

Hi everybody!
My name is Laura and I am 22 years
old. At the moment I work as a
babysitter, but my dream is to have my
own shop and sell trolls.
I am writing this letter to tell you how
the wonderful world of trolls fascinates
me. everything started on the date
of my 21st birtday. I was at an open
air market with my stall - I was selling
articles I had hand-made (bibs, rosettes
for birth events, flowers, boxes etc.)
Two stalls after mine there was a stall
with some trolls. When I saw them I
was immediately struck by these really
nice creatures. Then I drew near and
asked the vendor, a gentle lady, what
they were. She gave me a brochure
with their story and after reading it I
got more and more curious about them
and I promised I would buy one as
soon as possible.
On that same date the lady’s grandchild
was born and she came to my stall to
buy a rosette for him. since then as
Look at this! Stefan Boonen has
decorated his bedroom with this great
painting. I am impressed!

Hallo Ihr!
Ich heiße Laura und bin 22 Jahre alt. Zur Zeit
arbeite ich als Babysitter, aber mein Traum ist,
ein eigenes Geschäft zu gründen und Trolle zu
verkaufen.
Ich schreibe Euch diesen Brief, um Euch zu
sagen, wie sehr mich die wunderbare Welt der
Trolle fasziniert. Alles begann am Tage
meines 21. Geburtstags. Ich hatte einen
Stand auf einem Markt und verkaufte
dort selbst gemachte Artikel (Lätzchen,
Rosetten zu Geburtsfeiern, Blumen, Schachteln
usw.).
Zwei Marktstände von mir entfernt wurden
Trolle verkauft. Als ich sie sah, war ich sofort
von diesen wirklich netten Kerlchen gefesselt.
Ich ging näher und fragte die Verkäuferin, eine
freundliche Dame, was sie da verkaufe. Sie
gab mir eine Broschüre, die die Herkunft und
Geschichte der Trolle beschrieb. Die Lektüre
weckte meine Neugier mehr und mehr und ich
versprach, so bald wie möglich einen Troll zu
kaufen.
Am gleichen Tag wurde das Enkelkind der
freundlichen Dame geboren und sie erwarb
eine Rosette an meinem Stand. Endlich hatte
ich Geld, mir einen Troll zu kaufen. Und wenn
mich heute jemand fragt, was ich mir zum
Geburtstag wünsche, lautet die Antwort: Einen
Troll!
Auf Wiedersehen! Bitte behandelt Eure Trolle
gut und kauft so viele, wie Ihr könnt, weil sie
Euer Haus mit Ruhe und Frohsinn erfüllen.
Wenn Ihr Euch einmal einsam fühlt, könnt Ihr
mit ihnen sprechen. Die Trolle wissen immer,
wie sie Euch helfen können.

started many years
ago, my source was
the Old Sautee Store
in North Georgia.
With the death of the
owner, the store being
run by a relative until
this year to a new
owner, their inventory
is limited. A number of years ago on a visitt til San Francisco,
I found Scan Trends. I just received the 2004 Troll along with
their new catalog. Enclosed is a picture of my collection. My
membership dates back to January 1999.

Ich habe schon vor vielen Jahren angefangen, Trolle zu sammeln.

Meine Bezugsquelle war der Old Sautee Store in North Georgia.
Als der Besitzer starb, hat ein Verwandter den Laden übernommen,
bis vor zwei Jahren ein neuer Besitzer kam. Seitdem ist das
Angebot kleiner geworden. Vor einigen Jahren bei einem Besuch
in San Francisco, habe ich Scan Trends entdeckt. Ich habe in diesen
Tagen den 2004 Troll zusammen mit dem neuen Katalog erhalten.
Im Anhang sende ich ein Photo von meiner Sammlung. Ich bin seit
Januar 1999 Mitglied.

5. Mein Name ist De Col Adriano. Ich wurde am 3. August 1965 in

My name is De Col Adriano. i was born in Turin on 3rd August
1965 and I live in Torre Pellie (Turin), Italy.
I have been collecting Trolls since 1995 and I joined the Club in
1998. I have got as many as 52 trolls, including the Club Trolls
of the years 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002/03. I also
have number 706 assigd to troll Club members. I care much
for them and they give me back cheerfulness and happiness. I
made a small house and a van for them and also created a little
village. In the future I’d like to build a real kingdom for them.
I hope you continue to produce new trolls to make collectors
happy. I’m a voluntary fireman, so an idea could be to make a
Fireman Troll. I’d really appreciate it.
Thank you for your letter Adriano. I can see that you have
collected a lot of trolls and also all the clubtrolls. I will take
your idea to our designers of trolls.

Turin geboren und ich wohne in der Torre Pellie (Turin), Italien.
Seit 1995 sammele ich Trolle und seit 1998 bin ich Klubmitglied.
Ich besitze 52 Trolle sowie die Klub-Trolle aus den Jahren 1997,
1998, 2000, 2001 und 2002/03. Außerdem habe ich Nr. 706, der
den Klubmitgliedern gewidmet ist. Ich kümmere mich sehr gut
um meine Trolle und erhalte zum Dank Fröhlichkeit und Glück
