Have you ever seen a real Troll?
This summer a German TV-company
was visiting us, on their circular tour
in Norway, hunting for vikings, trolls
and people who are burning with
desire for their special interest.
They found most of it, I think, and we
helped them to find some “real” troll,
by of course using disguise.
They got their film, we got good
promotion - and we all had a
pleasant time helping each other
with this.
But it is possible to find real trolls
in the nature!
Try to visit the forest or a mountain
in the twilight and I am sure you will
find trolls. No wonder the Norwegian
nature has given many ideas to
fairytales, - both to be scary and
mysterious. The nature creates a lot
of pictures only by using light.
We have a lot of trolls in our nature,
for instance in Senja.
The Senja Troll in “The Hulder- and
Trollpark” is located at road E86
from Finnsnes towards Gryllefjord.
This troll is based on an old Senja
legend of a troll seen both on land
and sea, and it is the worlds largest
troll. It is registered in the 1997
Guinness Book of Records. The
troll is 17,96 m high as it sits and
with its 125.000 kg it is certainly an
impressive sight.
Well, of course someone helped the
nature in Senja, but with a watchful
eye I am sure there are a lot of real
troll in the nature. Just go out and
see for yourself! Enjoy the nature!

Avete mai visto un vero Troll?
Quest’estate una TV Tedesca è
venuta a visitarci, durante un giro
della Norvegia, in cerca di vichinghi,
di troll e di gente che bruci di
passione per i propri hobby.
Hanno trovato quasi tutto quello
che cercavano, credo, e noi li
abbiamo aiutati a trovare qualche
“vero” troll, naturalmente usando un
travestimento.
Loro hanno potuto fare il loro film,
noi abbiamo ottenuto una buona
pubblicità, e tutti ci siamo divertiti
molto aiutandoci a vicenda.
Ma in realtà è davvero possibile
trovare veri troll nella natura!
Provate a visitare una foresta o una
montagna al crepuscolo e sono
sicura che troverete dei troll. Non
c’è da meravigliarsi se la natura
Norvegese ha fornito così tante
idee – paurose e misteriose - per la
favole.
La natura crea moltissime immagini
con il solo uso della luce.
Abbiamo molti troll nella nostra
natura, per esempio a Senja.
Il troll di Senja nello “ Hulder- and
Trollpark” si trova sulla ”road” E86
tra Finnsnes e Gryllefjord.
Una vecchia leggenda di Senja
racconta di un troll che si vedeva
sia sulla terra che sul mare, ed è il
più grande troll del mondo.
E’ registrato sul Guinness dei
primati. E’ alto 17,96 metri da

Echte Trolle
Hast du jemals einen Troll gesehen?
Diesen Sommer bekamen wir Besuch
von einem deutschen Fernsehteam.
Auf ihrer Rundreise waren sie auf
der Jagd nach Vikingern, Trollen
und Leuten mit einer brennenden
Leidenschaft für ihr besonderes
Interessengebiet.
Sie fanden das meiste. Denke ich
zumindest! Wir haben ihnen geholfen
“echte” Trolle zu erleben – natürlich
mit Hilfe von Kostümen. Sie bekamen
ihren Film, wir bekamen Werbung –
und alle hatten eine angenehme Zeit
während wir einander halfen.
Aber ist es möglich echte Trolle in
der Natur zu sehen? Geh wärend der
Abenddämmerung in den Wald oder
in die Berge und ich bin mir sicher,
du wirst einen Troll finden. Kein
Wunder, dass die norwegische Natur
viele Ideen für Märchen - sowohl
schaurige, als auch mysteriöse -
gegeben hat. Die Lichtspiele der
Natur kreieren viele Bilder.
Es gibt eine Menge Trolle bei uns in
der Natur - zum Beispiel in Senja. Der
Senja Troll im “Hulder- und Trollpark”
befindet sich an der E86, wenn man
von Finnsnes Richtung Gryllefjord
fährt. Diese Trollfigur basiert auf
einer alten Senja-Legende eines
Trolls, welcher auf dem Land und
auf dem Meer gesehen wurde. Er ist
der weltgrößte Troll und registriert
im Guinnessbuch der Rekorde von
1997. Der sitzende Troll ist 17,96m
hoch und mit seinen 125.000kg ein
beeindruckender Anblick.
Ok, zugegebener Massen wurde der
Natur in Senja etwas auf die Sprünge
geholfen. Aber ich bin mir sicher,
dass man mit einem wachsamen
Auge viele echte Trolle in der Natur
entdecken kann. Komm und erlebe es
selbst! Viel Spass in der Natur!

This summer two TV-teams
from the German TV-company
ZDF were traveling whole

Hurtigruta and what is hiding
behind the mountains they
are passing on their way.
Hurtigruta is a large ship
that sails from Bergen along
the Norwegian west coast to
Kirkenes in the north. And of
course they wanted to meet
the famous Norwegian Trolls
from Ny Form, both in figures
and live in the woods.

Deutschland
Diesen Somme waren zwei
Fernsehteams des ZDF in Norwegen
auf der Reise mit der Hurtigrute, um
herauszufinden, was sich hinter den
Bergen, an denen sie vorbeikamen,
verbirgt. Von Bergen aus segeln die
Hurtigboote entlang der norwegischen
Küste in den Norden nach Kirkenes.
Natürlich wollten die Teams auch die
berühmten norwegischen Trolle “Ny
Form” treffen – sowohl als Figuren,
als auch live in den Wäldern.
Da Brødrene Flaarønning AS
der Großhändler der Trolle ist,
besuchte auch uns eines der
Fernsehteams. Um ihnen zu
helfen einen interessanten Film
zu drehen, nahmen wir unsere
Besucher mit in den Wald, wo zwei
lebende Trolle spielten. Es wurde
für mehrer Stunden gefilmt und man
fand die Trolle sehr charmant und
unterhaltsam.
Der gedrehte Troll-Film war ein
Teil der Hurtigruten-Reportage,
welche man in zwei Teilen
ausgestrahlt. Neben unseren Trollen
besuchte die Filmcrew auch den
Vikingermarkt in Ona Fyr, gingen
auf Walsafari auf Andøya, trafen die
enthusiastischen Betreiber eines
Stockfischunternehmens in Balstad
und waren dabei, als ein original aus
Holz handgefertigtes Nordland-Boot
zu Wasser gelassen wurde. Einer
der Teammintglieder erzählte uns,
dass es 15 Personen auf jeder Seite
benötigte, um das Boot ins Wasser
zu befördern. Grund dafür ist, dass
Tonnen von Steinen zur Stabilisierung
im Rumpf des Bootes gelagert werden.
Zusätzlich nutzten sie Holzbalken um
das Boot ins Nasse zu rollen.
Weiterhin waren sie auf Svartisen,
nahmen an einem Hundeschlittenrennen
teil und sahen jemandem beim kajaken
im reißenden Fluss bei Oppdal zu.
Die Filmcrew sagte: Wir haben sehr
großartige Erlebnisse gehabt, aber das
was uns am meisten beeindruckt hat,
war wie leidenschaftlich die Menschen
sind. Und natürlich die norwegische
Natur! Speziell der nördliche Teil des
Landes ist überwältigend.
Die Mitternachtsonne in Bergen von
Båtsfjord mit 6 Hunden auf dem
Hundeschlitten zu erleben, hat tiefe
Eindrücke hinterlassen. Ähnlich war es
auch mit dem Transport der Rentiere
per Boot zum Sommerweideplatz in
Hammerfest.
Und natürlich muss es auch Trolle in so
einem Film geben! Einer der Mitarbeiter
erzählte uns, dass er einige norwegische
Volksmärchen gelesen hat und er genau
weiss, wo man Trolle findet!

Germania
Quest’estate due squadre di ripresa
della TV Tedesca ZDF hanno viaggiato
in lungo e in largo tutta la Norvegia,
filmando Hurtigruta e i panorami che
si nascondono dietro le montagne sul
loro cammino. Hurtigruta è una grande
nave che naviga da Bergen lungo la
costa occidentale della Norvegia fino a
Kirkenes, nel Nord.
Naturalmente le troupe volevano anche
incontrare I famosi Troll Norvegesi della
NyForm, sia come statuine sia dal vivo
nei boschi.
Poiché noi siamo

Per aiutarli a

abbiamo portati

troll stavano

alberi. Hanno filmato per ore, trovando i
troll molto affascinanti e divertenti.
Nella versione finale del servizio che
apparirà sullo schermo, le varie storie
saranno combinate fra loro, avendo
le riprese del Hurtigruta come tema
principale. Altre riprese sono state fatte
in un mercato Vichingo, al balene safari
di Andøya, alla “fabbrica” di stoccafisso
gestita da una coppia entusiasta a
Balstad e finalmente al varo di una
originale barca in legno del Nordland,
fatta a mano.
Uno dei membri della squadra ci ha
raccontato che c’è stato bisogno di
quindici uomini su ciascun lato della
barca per vararla. La ragione per
cui erano così tanti è che c’erano
tonnellate di pietre sul fondo della
barca, necessarie per stabilizzarla.
Hanno usato un tronco per farci
scorrere sopra la barca, in modo
da non doverla sollevare ma
semplicemente farla scivolare in mare.
Sono stati anche a Svartisen, hanno
partecipato ad una gara di cani da
slitta, hanno assistito ad una discesa
in kayak lungo un torrente molto
impetuoso ad Oppdal.
Come loro stessi ci hanno detto:
“Abbiamo fatto molte esperienze
eccitanti, ma la cosa che li ha
impressionati di più è stata la passione
che la gente mette nelle cose che fa. E
poi, ovviamente, la natura Norvegese!
Specialmente al Nord la natura è
spettacolare. L’esperienza a Båtsfjord
con la muta di sei cani su per la
montagna Båtsfjord, a vedere il
sole di mezzanotte, ha fatto molta
impressione, al pari del trasferimento
in barca delle renne verso i loro pascoli
ad Hammerfest.
E naturalmente ci devono essere dei
troll in un servizio come questo!

“Trollwife 2007”
This years Troll Wife Prize went to Mahdi Hassan. He has
distinguished himself as a network builder in the local society
between immigrants and the locals. He has engaged himself
politically as well as in sports. Mahdi is now both well known
and respected in his new home district.

– Through his versatile engagement and capability Mahdi

Hassan show that he is worthy the Troll Wife Prize, said Mayor
Borgar Valle, during the ceremony this summer.
– Thank you very much, from the bottom of my heart, said a
touched Mahdi Hassan. He thanked his family for being so
supportive in a way that makes it possible for him to engage as
much as he does.

Positive and constructive

The jury laid focus on his ability to concern himself with
different kind of problems and challenges in a positive and
constructive way. He has not only been an important role
model but also inspirational to many refugees and others with
foreign origin, and not at least for
us Norwegians. Mahdi has, like a
real troll wife, who is energetic and
courageous, shown that you do it
if you really want! They have also
paid importance to his heartfelt
and strong engagement in the local
society. Mahdi holds many ofices
and he is the initiator of Tynset
Judo Club.

Mahdi Hassan è il fortunato vincitore del premio “Troll Wife
Prize” di quest’anno.
Si è distinto per aver costruito una rete di relazioni a livello
locale fra immigranti e persone del posto. Si è impegnato
politicamente e nel settore sportivo. Ora è ben conosciuto e
rispettato nella sua nuova residenza.
Durante la cerimonia di consegna del premio, la scorsa
estate, il sindaco di Tynset, Borgar Valle, ha detto – Mahdi
Hassan, attraverso il suo impegno versatile e le sue capacità,
a dimostrato di meritare il Troll Wife Prize–.
– Grazie infinite, dal fondo del mio cuore - ha dichiarato
Mahdi, commosso – ringrazio la mia famiglia, che mi dà
supporto e mi mette in condizioni di fare quello che faccio.
Positivo e costruttivo
La giuria ha dato molta importanza alla sua capacità di
occuparsi di differenti problemi e di affrontare le sfide in
modo positive e costruttivo. Non solo è stato un modello di
buon comportamento, ma ha inspirato molti rifugiati ed altri
stranieri, e non solo i Norvegesi. Come una vera “Troll wife”,
energico e coraggioso, ha dimostrato che “volere è potere”!
La giuria ha considerato anche il suo sincero e forte impegno
sociale a livello locale. Mahdi ha molti incarichi ed è stato il
fondatore del Tynset Judo Club.
Il “Troll Wife Prize” è stato assegnato quest’estate per la

Positiv und konstruktiv
Die Jury ihre Entscheidung besonders daran fest, dass
Hassan während seiner Tätigkeit sehr gute Fähigkeiten zeigt,
verschiedenste Problemstellungen und Herausforderungen
positiv und konstruktiv zu begegnen. Er ist nicht nur ein wichtiges
Vorbild, sondern auch eine Inspiration für viele Flüchtlinge mit
ausländischem Wurzeln, und nicht zuletzt für uns Norweger.
Mahdi hat, wie eben ein richtiger “Trollweib”-Preisträger, mit
seiner Tatkräftigkeit und seinem Mut bewiesen, dass alles geht,
wenn man will, sagte die Jury. Ein anderer ausschlaggebender
Punkt war auch sein aufrichtiges und starkes Engagement im
lokalen Umfeld. Madhi begleitet viele Ämter und ist der Initiator für
die Gründung des Tynset Judoclubs.
Der “Trollweib”-Preis wurde in diesem Jahr zum neunten mal
vergeben.

primo troll che comprai lo trovai in una cartoleria ad Ivrea
e lo regalai al mio ragazzo che ora è mio marito. Da allora se
ne sono aggiunti un po’ presi qua e là finchè non ho trovato
un negozio ora di mia fiducia, la Tata a Novara. La nostra
famiglia troll è composta da 46 elementi di cui 2 doppi perché
un mio fratello qualche anno fa ha fatto un giretto in Norvegia
e sapendo della nostra passione ne aveva presi 2, novità di
quell’anno, ma io nel frattempo li avevo gia comprati qua; ma
non fa nulla, si fanno compagnia!! Oltre i 46 abbiamo i 9 Troll

The story of Giramondo
Guys come here; I want to tell you my story!
Oh sorry, I have to introduce myself. My name is Giramondo
and from my name perhaps you will understand what I want to
tell you.
I’m a son of the Trolls who live in the woods. My father is
always out to gather firewood and my mum is looking for food
(berries, roots, tender leaves).
When I was born, I brought in a wave of changes. When I was
a child my curiosity for the evening around me was so big that
I continued to ask my father and my mother about the reason
for things I didn’t know. I wanted to know everything, also what
was outside the woods!!
So, when I became a little older, unwillingly, I said goodbye to
my parents and begun my adventure. I traveled around far and
wide, thirsty for discovering everything I didn’t know. Every now
and then I went back to my parents and told them about my
adventures, everything I saw and learned.

Every time my mother cuddled me she prepared my favourite

dishes because she said she I was slim and worn-out. After
some days, having recovered my good shape with the good
and abundant food, I restarted my walk looking for new places
to discover. And so, year after year, I became old as well.
My parents are no more there. But until I can, I still travel
around, because I’m not able to do anything else.
What is good about this life is that you realize that you can live
with little, simple things, without luxury and you can meet a lot
of people with their customs and habits. My only regret is that I
never found a wife, but now it’s too late.

Ciao, sono Barbara, sono nata a Ferrara, dove risiedo,

Sono diventata collezionista di Troll tanti anni fa, quando un
giorno la mia mamma Ombretta e il mio Papà, Elvo, andarono
in montagna e come regalo mi portarono a casa un troll. Me ne
innamorai subito, e da allora ogni anno quando torno con loro
in montagna, me li compro. Nella mia casa ormai ci vivono ben

Sono in ogni angolo della casa e devo dire che con tutti loro
mi sento protetta e al sicuro, mi sanno trasmettere tranquillità e
serenità. Anche mio figlio Alex e mio marito Luca li adorano. Ho

Di Lavoro faccio la porta lettere, magari vi do lo spunto per fare
uno che rappresenti il mio lavoro, così avrei un motivo in più

Troll weekend in Belgium
On 31 march and 1 April this year the troll weekend was organized for the 5th time at
Het Oude Schuurtje in Hamont Belgium
There where a lot of things to see and
the troll collectors where very surprised
that they got a gift from Ny Form trolls, a
calendar. They appreciated it a lot.
There where also stickers and pins
made by Stefan, the owner of Het oude
Schuurtje, that was given away with the
trolls.
The very first edition of the Dutch troll
magazine came out that weekend and
was handed out to the visitors. We got
good response on that, too. Some of
the troll collectors reactions where;
fantastic, finally, perfect, good and
great. Therefore we will try to make a
second Dutch magazine for the next troll
weekend.
Roughly 250 to 300 troll collectors came
to the troll weekend with all different
numbers of trolls in their collection,
from 1 to 170 Ny Form trolls. They
came all the way from Oud Beyerland/
Netherlands to Melle/Belgium.
We could see some very old trolls in a
display.
The troll king was visiting us, and
surprisingly also a couple of other trolls
came by. We met a lot of old and new
troll collectors this weekend and I think
that in the Benelux we have a lot of troll
collectors we don’t know yet. I hope that
they will come out and say I am a Ny
Form troll collector too!
With pride I can tell that we will arrange
the troll weekend in 2008 as well. And
with more pride Stefan, the troll team
and I are saying: Hope to see you at the
next troll weekend!

Troll weekend in Belgio
Nel fine settimana 31 Marzo di
quest’anno si è tenuto il 5° “Troll weekend”
nella località di Het Oude Schuurtje presso
Hamont in Belgium.
Da 250 a 300 troll collezionisti si sono
ritrovati per questi due giorni, portando I
troll della loro collezione (fino a 170 diversi
Ny Form troll). Sono venuti da varie zone
dell’Olanda e del Belgio. C’erano molte cose
da vedere e I collezionisti hanno avuto la
sorpresa di ricevere in regalo dalla Ny Form
un calendario, che hanno molto apprezzato.
C’erano anche adesivi e pin fatti da Stefano,
il proprietario di Het oude Schuurtje, che
venivano regalati insieme ai troll. La prima
edizione del “Dutch troll magazine” è
uscita in occasione di questo week end
ed è stata distribuita ai visitatori. Anche su
questa iniziativa abbiamo avuto una buona
risposta. Le reazioni dei collezionisti sono
state del tipo: - E’ fantastico …. Era ora …..
Perfetto …… Grande idea …… -. Quindi
cercheremo di farne una seconda edizione
per il prossimo troll weekend. Abbiamo
potuto ammirare alcuni troll molto vecchi in
esposizione. Il re dei troll è venuto a trovarci,
insieme ad una coppia di altri nuovi troll.
Abbiamo incontrato molti vecchi e nuovi
collezionisti durante questa due giorni e
penso che in Benelux ci siano ancora molti
collezionisti che non conosciamo ancora.
Spero che si facciano vivi e dichiarino anche
loro di essere collezionisti di troll NyForm!
Posso affermare con orgoglio che saremo
noi ad organizzare anche il troll weekend
del 2008 e, insieme a Stefan e al “troll team”
vi dico: Spero di vedervi al prossimo troll
weekend!

Trollwochenende bei Het Oude Schurrtje in

Es gab viele Dinge zu sehen und die
Trollsammler waren sehr überrascht, dass
sie ein Geschenk von den Ny Form Trollen
– einen Kalender – bekamen. Alle waren
sehr dankbar dafür. Zusätzlich gab es
auch Aufkleber und Anstecker, die eigens
von Stefan, dem Besitzer von Het Oude
Schuurtje, kreiert wurden. Die allererste
Ausgabe des holländischen Trollmagazins
wurde an diesem Wochenende veröffentlicht
und an die Besucher verteilt. Die Resonanz
war sehr gut. Hier sind einige Reaktionen
der Trollsammler: fantastisch, endlich,
perfekt, gut und großartig. Deshalb werden
wir versuchen, zum nächsten Trollwochende
ein zweite holländische Ausgabe
herauszubringen.

die Sammlungen der Teilnehmer. Einige
hatten sich sogar auf die lange Reise von

überraschenderweise auch ein paar andere
Trolle, statteten uns auch einen Besuch ab.
Wir haben viele alte und neue Trollsammler
an diesem Wochenende getroffen und ich
denke, dass es in den Beneluxländern
noch viel mehr von ihnen gibt, die wir noch
gar nicht kennen. Ich hoffe, dass sie sich
irgendwann zeigen und sagen ‘Ich bin auch
ein Ny Form Trollsammler’! Mit Stolz kann
ich verkünden, dass es auch im Jahr 2008
ein Trollwochende geben wird. Und mit noch
mehr Stolz sagen Stefan, das Trollteam und
ich: Wir hoffen euch beim nächsten Treffen
begrüßen zu können!

Club. sfortunatamente ho solo 7 pezzi, come si può vedere
dalla foto. Per molti anni ho cercato troll nelle vetrine dei
negozi. Mi piacciono molto e dicevo a me stesso “sono brutti
ma anche così graziosi e carini”. Un giorno ne ho comprato uno
per mio marito (il pescatore), poi, sapete come vanno queste
cose, una cosa tira l’altra ed un giorno mi sono ritrovata con
ben 30 trolls e non sto affatto pensando di fermarmi.
Mio marito, quando qualche volta è di cattivo umore o si sente
triste, si mette di fronte a loro a guardarli finchè si mette a
ridere ed improssivamente malinconia e tristezza scompaiono.
Adesso lui è in pensione e dice che quando è da solo a casa gli
tengono compagnia e che anche parla loro.
Gli piacerebbe veramente molto visitare la terra dei Trolls e
spero che ne abbia la possibilità prima o poi. Dear Sir or madam,

Ich habe in eurem Magazin über den Club-Troll Daniela De March and husband
Wettbewerb gelesen. Wir ihr sehen könnt, besitze ich leider nur
7 Stück. Seit mehreren Jahren habe ich sie mir im Schaufenster
angeschaut. Ich mochte sie sehr und sagte mir: “sie sind
hässlich, aber irgendwie liebenswert und nett.” Eines Tages
kaufte ich dann einen für meinen Ehemann (den Fischer). Und
ihr wisst ja wie das ist, das eine führt zum anderen und heute
nenne ich 30 Trolle mein eigen. Und ich denke nicht dran, damit
aufzuhören.
Wenn mein Mann manchmal schlechte Laune hat oder
traurig ist, steht er vor ihnen und starrt sie an. Und plötzlich
verschwindet Melancholie und Traurigkeit. Er ist schon im
Ruhestand und er sagt, wenn er alleine zu Hause ist, dann
leisten die Trolle ihm Gesellschaft. Manchmal spricht er sogar
mit ihnen..
Wir würden sehr gerne das Land der Trolle besuchen kommen
und hoffen, dass wir irgendwann die Möglichkeit dazu
bekommen.

wurde uns von Kevin Kooymans zugesand. Die Figuren auf
dem Bild müssen (von links nach rechts): 208, 208, 207, 209
und 209 Jahre alt sein. Da sie handgemacht sind, gibt es ein
paar Abweichungen zwischen ihnen. Wahrscheinlich stammen
sie auch aus verschiedenen Zeiten und von verschiedenen
Menschen. Wenn der Trollmodellierer den Troll aus der Form
nimmt, ist die Figur noch nicht ganz ausgehärtet. Dies kann zu
kleinen Abweichungen in der Haltung der Trolle führen.

The guys in the picture must be, from left to right; 208, 208,
207, 209 and 209. You have some variations here because they
are handmade and probably made both in different times and
by different people. When the troll modeller takes the troll out
of the mould it is not completely hard yet, and that can give the
trolls small variations in the postures.

Ad oggi ho 57 troll e sono sicura che
in futuro aumenteranno ancora. Il mio
favorito è il ”Robin-troll”, n° 210,
Ma penso di amarli tutti in uguale misura.
In una di queste foto, tutti i miei amici
troll corrono giù per le scale per venirmi
incontro. Poi li ho convinti a farsi fare
una bella foto di famiglia. Mi sembra che
siano veramente carini, siete d’accordo?

Trollfreunde!
Mein Name ist Ilona und ich komme
aus Deutschland. Meinen ersten Troll
(Nr. 265) kaufte ich während eines
wundervollen Urlaubs in Norwegen.
Seit dem bin ich eine leidenschaftliche
Sammlerin und ein echter Fan dieser
liebenswerten Kreaturen.
Bis zum heutigen Tag besitze ich 57
Trolle und ich bin mir sicher, dass es in
der Zukunft noch mehr werden. Mein
Favorite ist der “Robin-Troll Nr. 210”,
aber ich denke, dass ich im Großen und
Ganzen alle gleich gerne habe.
