Convert revolutions per minute [rpm] to

radians per second [rad/s] and vice-versa

rpm stands for revolutions per minute. The aim is to convert N (expressed in rpm) to ω (expressed in rad. s−1 ). If N revolutions are
N
performed in one minute, 60 revolutions are performed in one second. As one revolution is equal to 2π radians, the conversion can be done
thanks to the following formula:

ω(rad.s−1 ) = .N (1)
and vice-versa: 60 (rpm)

60
N(rpm) = .ω −1 (2)
2π (rad.s )

Convert radians [rad] to degrees [°] and

vice-versa
Since 2 radians equals 360°, it is quite easy to use the rule of Three to convert any value :

Radians Degrees

0 rad 0°

π rad 180°

2π rad 360°

α rad ?

It becomes trivial to deduce the following formula:

360 × α(rad) 180 × α(rad)

α(deg) = = (1)
and vice-versa: 2π π

2π × α(deg) π × α(deg)
α(rad) = = (2)
360 180
