Job Position: Speakeasy Interpreter

Reports to: General Manager of Food Service & Director of the Historic Operations
Hours: Hourly, part-time

Primary Function
Responsible for overseeing beverage preparation and offer guest experiences in the 1920’s Main
Street Broken Barrel Speakeasy for immersive Speakeasy experience, ensuring superior quality
and consistency while engaging guests in opportunities to learn historic information.

Essential Functions (Responsibilities) include the following.

1. Engage guests in opportunities to learn historical information regarding 1920s prohibition and
classic cocktails, following historic interpretation guidelines as outlined in interpretation training
manuals.
2. Personally engage with guest and offer great guest experience.
3. Take drink orders, prepare and serve classic cocktails to guests according to prescribed
recipes.
4. Maintain a clean work and dining environment by removing trash, cleaning tables, washing
glasses and equipment.
5. Ensure compliance with safety regulations.
6. Communicate effectively with guests, team leaders, management and coworkers of all areas in
Sauder Village.
7. Keep the safety of guests, staff, and self a priority.
8. Work as needed including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

1. Knowledge of or willingness to learn the basics of bartending.


2. Meets state minimum age to serve alcohol.
3. Commitment to providing exceptional guest experiences.
4. Reliable, enthusiastic, and trustworthy team player.
5. Reflects and advocates for the mission, purpose, goals and values of Sauder Village.
6. Strong organizational and time management skills.
7. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
8. Physical skills include, but are not limited to, frequent standing, walking, and lifting.
9. Manual dexterity to prepare and serve beverages.
10. Complete training programs such as the ServSafe Manager Certification course, and others as
determined necessary.
11. Must follow the appearance and attire guidelines as outlined in the employee manual.
12. Must follow regulations/guidelines/codes as directed by the Department of Health; comply with
State of Ohio liquor regulations.
