Rimini International Choral Competition

Welcome to Rimini, the capital of hospitality and culture!
It gives me great pleasure to organise the City of Rimini International Choral Competition,
which will take place from 25 to 28 September 2014. Choral music, especially in the last few
years, has improved in quality thanks to the precious and tireless contribution of thousands of
supporters. It is no longer a subject for only a niche audience but, on the contrary, has gained
an important place in the musical feld.
Te aim of the Choral Competition is not only to have groups competing against one another,
but also to present to the audience the characteristics and diversities of each choir and
repertoire. Te event will take place in the beautiful setting of this ancient Roman city, well-
known for the beauty of its beaches and rich in monuments from a splendid past.
I shall be happy to welcome you to Rimini to celebrate together the beauties of music and
friendship.

Benvenuti a Rimini, capitale di ospitalit e cultura!
E con grande piacere che vado ad occuparmi dellorganizzazione del Concorso Internazionale
Corale Citt di Rimini che avr luogo dal 25 al 28 Settembre 2014. La musica per coro,
specialmente in questi ultimi anni, qualitativamente cresciuta grazie allapporto prezioso e
instancabile di migliaia di appassionati. Non pi materia per soli ascoltatori di nicchia ma, al
contrario si ricavata uno spazio importante nel panorama musicale.
Il Concorso non vuole soltanto mettere in competizione le formazioni corali ma intende
presentare al pubblico le caratteristiche e le diversit di ogni gruppo e repertorio. Il tutto nella
splendida cornice di questa antica citt romana, conosciuta per la bellezza delle sue spiagge ma
soprattutto piena di vestigia di un glorioso passato.
Vi aspetto numerosi per celebrare insieme un momento di musica ed amicizia.

Il Teatro Novelli
Il 27 marzo 1895 il consiglio comunale decide la costruzione di un palcoscenico in muratura nel centro dellarea dellex
ippodromo, tra lo stabilimento balneare e il porto canale. Il provvedimento ritenuto necessario per ospitare nella
stagione dei bagni le primarie compagnie di prosa e di variet, alcune delle quali, in passato, hanno declinato linvito
proprio per la precariet del tavolato di scena. La decisione del municipio di rendere stabile il luogo degli spettacoli,
da qualche tempo sistemato provvisoriamente in aree vicine al Kursaal, d il via alla storia del teatro di marina,
inizialmente chiamato Arena al Lido e poi Ermete Novelli. Per oltre un decennio questo simpatico baraccone
interamente di legno, montato in giugno e smantellato al termine della stagione, rappresenta uno di pi importanti
appuntamenti serali dellestate, contendendo il pubblico dei vacanzieri agli altri due mostri sacri del divertimento
riminese: il Kursaal e la piattaforma. Nel 1911 lArena al Lido, di propriet comunale, ma in concessione insieme
con tutte le attivit dellazienda turistica alla Societ anonima bagni, rischia di non ottenere il permesso di agibilit
da parte della pubblica sicurezza. Con il passare degli anni, infatti , la struttura diventata logora e traballante e la
impalcature poco afdabili. In queste decrepite condizioni il teatro assunto in gestione da Ermete Novelli. Il grande
mattatore del palcoscenico vi fa eseguire una serie di importanti lavori di restauro e di abbellimento. Il Momento del 10
agosto, commentando lopera svolta dallartista, scrive: Il commendator Ermete Novelli ha compiuto uno dei suoi soliti
miracoli: ha dato la vita ad un morto. E i riminesi, riconoscenti, dopo qualche giorno gli intestano il teatro. Il battesimo
ufciale avviene il 29 agosto 1911, nellintervallo di una commedia interpretata dallo stesso Novelli, a conclusione di
un ciclo di recite di grande successo. Quella sera il conte Carlo Biancoli, presidente della SAB, dopo essere salito sul
palco per ringraziare pubblicamente, a nome della cittadinanza, lillustre divo dello spettacolo, tra applausi calorosi
della platea, intitola il teatro Politeama Ermete Novelli. Con la direzione del benemerito attore larena di marina
diventa un punto di riferimento, ambito e richiesto, delle migliori compagnie artistiche dItalia, oltre che un centro
di eleganza e di mondanit. La guerra chiude questafascinante capitolo. Il 30 gennaio 1919 muore Ermete Novelli
e larena prelevata dallimpresa che gestisce il Politeama riminese. Dopo quattro anni di deplorevole abbandono, il
teatro non ofre pi alcuna garanzia di sicurezza: le impalcature sono corrose, le gallerie pericolanti e tutto linsieme
minaccia di crollare da un momento allaltro. Assestata alla meglio la struttura portante, la nuova direzione riesce ad
avviare lattivit artistica del dopoguerra e per sei stagioni il dignitoso calendario del Novelli torna ad accontentare
gli appassionati della scena. Nellagosto del 1925 il simpatico baraccone, diventato ormai una vecchia e indecente
carcassa, demolito. Dopo 10 anni, sulla stessa area, viene costruito un nuovo teatro intitolato ancora ad Ermete
Novelli. Lopera, moderna, funzionale e in perfetto stile 900 sobrio e elegante, tutta in cemento armato ed ha una
capienza di 1.500 posti tra platea e galleria. Progettato e costruito dal geometra Oddo Rondini e dallingegner Enrico
del Piano, il Novelli risolve, fnalmente, la grossa lacuna del settore artistico-ricreativo del lido. Sul nuovo Novelli
tornano a recitare le pi accreditate compagnie sceniche dItalia e per qualche anno ancora la citt si trova ai vertici
degli interessi artistici rinnovando i fasti e gli entusiasmi dei tempi dellArena al Lido. Risparmiato fortunosamente
dai tremendi bombardamenti a tappeto del 1943-44, il teatro esce dalla guerra con qualche ammaccatura nella parte
del palcoscenico. Per due anni requisito dagli alleati e usato per allietare il forzato soggiorno della truppa occupante.
Nellestate del 45 allestita una modesta stagione lirica e nel 46 vengono programmati alcuni spettacoli di variet. Nel
1947 restituito alla citt. Senza spiegazione di sorta, gli alleati lo consegnano sudicio e gravemente danneggiato: tetto,
softto, vetrate, pareti e addobbi devastati; palchi, poltrone e sedie irrecuperabili, limpianto elettrico completamente
distrutto e le attrezzature sceniche scomparse. Quella stessa estate il Novelli, dopo ingenti lavori di rispristino, apre la
sala al pubblico e torna a ricoprire il ruolo di centro artistico, ricreativo e culturale della marina.

Te Novelli Teatre
On 27
th
March 1895 Rimini town council decided to build a brick stage in the centre of the horse racetrack area
between the beach and the harbour. Tis measure was considered necessary to host top prose and variety companies
during the tourist season, some of which had declined the invitation in the past, precisely because of the precarious
state of the old wooden stage. Te town councils decision to build a permanent site for the shows, which for a long
time had been temporarily staged in the area near the Kursaal, was the beginning of the story of the theatre, initially
called Lido Arena and later Ermete Novelli. For over a decade this nice shed built entirely in wood, set up in
June and dismantled at the end of the season, was the scene of summer evenings most important appointments,
competing for audiences with the other two legendary Rimini entertainment venues: the Kursaal and the platform.
In 1911, the Lido Arena, owned by the Town Council, but licensed along with all the tourist board activities to the
Bathing Company, ran the risk of not obtaining the police permit to open to the public. In fact, through the years,
the structure had become worn and shaky and the framework unreliable. Under these conditions, Ermete Novelli took
over the management of the decrepit theatre. Te great stage star decided to carry out a series of important restoration
and decoration projects. On 10
th
August, the Momento newspaper, commenting the work done by the artist, wrote:
Mr. Ermete Novelli has performed one of his customary miracles: he has brought back to life something that was
dead. A few days later, the grateful people of Rimini named the theatre afer him. Te ofcial baptism took place on 29
th

August 1911, in the interval of a play featuring Novelli himself, afer a series of extremely successful performances. Tat
evening Count Carlo Biancoli, chairman of the Bathing Company, afer going on stage to publicly thank the famous
star on behalf of the population, to warm applause from the audience, named the theatre Politeama Ermete Novelli.
Under the direction of the famous actor the Marina Arena became a coveted popular reference point for the best
Italian companies and a centre of elegance and high society. Te war ended this fascinating chapter. On 30
th
January
1919, Ermete Novelli died and the arena was closed by the frm that managed the Rimini Politeama. Afer four years
of deplorable neglect, the theatre was no longer able to ensure safety: the structure was corroded, the galleries unsafe
and the whole building threatened to collapse at any moment. Afer dealing with the main structure somehow or other,
the new management was able to start post-war artistic activity and for six seasons the calendar of the Novelli Teatre
once again entertained theatre fans. In August 1925 the nice shed had become an indecent old carcass and was
demolished. Ten years later a new theatre, also named afer Ermete Novelli, was built on the same site. Te building,
modern, functional and in perfect sober and elegant 1900s style, was built entirely in reinforced concrete and had
a seating capacity of 1,500 between stalls and gallery. Designed and built by surveyor Oddo Rondini and engineer
Enrico Plan, the Novelli fnally flled the big gap in the artistic and recreational facilities of the Rimini Lido. Top Italian
companies performed again at the new Novelli and for some more years the city was located at the top of artistic
interests, renewing the pomp and enthusiasm of the days of the Lido Arena. Luckily avoiding the tremendous 1943-44
carpet-bombing, the theatre came through the war with just some dents in the stage area. For two years it was occupied
by the Allies and used to entertain the occupying troops during their forced stay. In the summer of 1945, a modest
opera season was staged and in 1946 several variety shows were held. In 1947 it was returned to the city. Without any
explanation whatsoever, the Allies consigned the theatre dirty and severely damaged: the roof, ceiling, windows, walls
and decorations were devastated; boxes and seating irreparable, the electrical system was completely destroyed and the
stage equipment had vanished. Tat same summer, afer considerable restoration work, the Novelli opened its hall to
the public and once more assumed its role of artistic, cultural and recreational centre of the coast

La Chiesa di S. Agostino
Costruita nel XIII secolo, in stile romanico - gotico, rappresenta la pi antica
chiesa di Rimini. Era dedicata a San Giovanni Evangelista ma, eretta dagli
Eremitani di S. Agostino fu sempre, per il popolo, la chiesa di S. Agostino. La
prima nota storica che si ha di questa chiesa un atto di donazione del 1069.
Si trattava allora di un piccolo oratorio che fungeva da parrocchia con il titolo
di S. Giovanni Evangelista. Nel 1256 il piccolo edifcio veniva afdato allordine
dei frati Agostiniani. Con i suoi 55 metri di altezza il campanile il pi alto
della citt e per molto tempo ha assunta anche la funzione di faro per i marinai
di Rimini. Su disegno di un architetto veneziano fu eretto sulla cappella destra
della chiesa che gi era stata afrescata nei primi decenni del 300. Esso termina
con unaltissima cuspide piramidale. Limportanza di S. Agostino indiscutibile,
basti pensare allapittura riminese del 300che si pu dire nata allombra del suo
campanile.Giovanni da Rimini, infatti, considerato il caposcuola del trecento
riminese abitava nella contrada di San Giovanni Evangelista cio di S. Agostino,
e gli Agostiniani per primi afdarono a questa scuola lesecuzione degli afreschi
della loro grande chiesa costruita ex novo. Gli afreschi della cappella maggiore e
di quella del campanile possono considerarsi la sola testimonianza rimasta nella
citt di Rimini dellattivit della scuola giottesca. Limportanza eccezionale di
questa chiesa dovuta in particolare agli afreschi venuti alla luce in seguito al
terremoto del 1916. Si tratta di un complesso di afreschi che rievocano scene
della vita del Santo e Il giudizio universale attribuibili al Maestro dellArengo.
Questultimo afresco, restaurato e staccato dal sottotetto, venne collocato in
principio nella sala dellArengo, poi trasferito allinterno del museo della citt
(Via Tonini).

Te St. Agostino Church
Tis imposing church, built by Augustine monks at the end of the 13th century, was a rectangular
hall with a trussed roof. Tere was a large apse at one end with a chapel at each side, one of
which formed the base of the bell tower. Te faade you see today is the result of extensive
eighteenth century intervention that also altered the appearance of the interior. But the sides
with their slender pilasters, the area of the apse and the lofy bell tower constitute a worthy
testimony of Gothic religious architecture in Rimini. Inside the church, the apse and the bell
tower chapel preserve the best evidence of the Rimini art school, which constitutes one of the
most important artistic movements of the 14th century in northern Italy, and which began with
the artists Giuliano e Giovanni of Rimini and the miniature painter Neri. Te surviving, early
14th century decorations consist of various sequences of frescoes and a large wooden Crucix.
Te 14th century frescoes were concealed by later interventions until a violent earthquake in
1916 revealed their existence. Not until 1926, however, was it possible to remove and restore the
splendid Last Judgement painted over the triumphal arch and now housed in the Civic Museum.
Te 18th century reconstruction enriched the church with notable works of art among which the
Baroque plasterwork on the ceiling by Ferdinando Bibiena and the frescoes by Vittorio Maria
Bigari. Only a few traces remain of the large Convent that was built next to the church and that
is known to have housed an important Library and a famous Studio with a college attached.
It was incorporated into the eighteenth century structure, designed by Giuseppe Achilli from
Cesena, afer the disastrous earthquake of 1786. Closed down in1798 at the passing of the
French troops, the convent was characterised by its size, its solemn architecture, the symmetry
of its proportions and the presence of large courtyards.

Te Canzona Choir of Cultural Centre 105 in Koszalin was founded in March 1999. Since
November 2009, the conductor of the ensemble has been Radosaw Wilkiewicz. Choir members
are mainly graduates of the Technical University of Koszalin, but also high school students and
graduates of other national universities; together they represent various professions. Te groups
repertoire is very varied, ranging from early music to contemporary, religious, secular and folk as
well as the development of negro spirituals, gospel, jazz standards and popular music. Te major
recent successes of the choir are the following: 3 Bronze Diplomas at the International Choir Festival
in Tampere in Finland (2011), 2nd Prize in the category of mixed choirs at the Fourteenth Cantio
Lodziensis Choir Festival in d (2011), Winner of the Provincial Review Choir and Chamber
Ensembles in Szczecin (2013), Te Brown Diploma at the Second National Marian Song Festival Ave
Maria in Chojnice (2013), 2nd Place and Silver Torch in the Sixth International Festival of Marian
Choral Song in Czstochowa (2013). Other signifcant events in the history of the choir include
the performance of the following works for voices and instruments: Jan Szopiski Missa Brevis,
Marek Jasiski Domini est terra, Aleksander Greczaninow MissaFestiva, Francesco Durante
Magnifcat, Urmas Sisask Eesti Missa, Pawe ukaszewski Litany of the Martyrs of Midzyrzecze.
Il Coro Canzona del Centro Culturale 105 di Koszalin stato fondato nel Marzo 1999. Da
Novembre 2009 il direttore dellensemble Radosaw Wilkiewicz. I membri del coro sono
laureati dellUniversit di Tecnologia di Zoszalin, ma anche studenti e laureati di altre universit
e rappresentano diverse professioni. Il repertorio del gruppo spazia dalla musica antica a quella
contemporanea, sacra, profana e folk, con brani spiritual, gospel e jazz. Signifcativi gli ultimi
successi del coro: tre diplomi di Bronzo al Festival Corale Internazionale di Tampere, Finlandia,
nel 2011; Secondo Premio nella categoria cori misti al XIV Festival Corale Cantio Lodziensis di
d (2011); vincitore al Concorso per cori ed ensemble a Stettino (2013); Diploma di bronzo
al II Festival Nazionale mariano Ave Maria di Chojnice (2013); Secondo posto al VI Festival
Internazionale mariano di Czstochowa (2013).Signifcativi eventi nella storia del coro sono le
esibizioni dei seguenti brani vocali e strumentali: Jan Szopiski - Missa Brevis, Marek Jasiski

In 19 years of activity, the Brasilia Chorale has become a landmark both in Brazil and
abroad. Te group has made several national and international tours, participating in
competitions and festivals where it won fourteen awards. Currently there are about
40 members and the Choir devotes itself almost exclusively to the promotion of the
Brazilian choral repertoire, performing the best compositions and arrangements.
Te Choir has sung in Argentina, Austria, Chile, Czech Republic, Germany, Greece,
Hungary, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden. In the two most recent
competitions, in 2010 and 2012, the Choir was awarded a Gold Medal in the category
Mixed Choirs, at the Sixth International Robert Schumann Choir Competition
(Germany); frst prize in the Folklore Music category, two second prizes in the Mixed
Choirs and Religious Music categories, and a special prize for the best performance
of the Russian composers work, in the Tenth International Festival of Choral Art
Te Singing World and Eighth International Competition of Choral Art Te
Singing World (Russia). Currently the conductor of the choir is Mr. Eder Camzis.
In 19 anni di attivit, la Corale Brasilia diventata una delle corali pi afermate
in Brasile e allestero. Il gruppo ha efettuato numerosi viaggi nazionali e allestero,
partecipando a concorsi e festival dove ha ricevuto complessivamente quattordici
premi. Attualmente, con i suoi 40 membri, si dedica esclusivamente alla difusione
del repertorio corale Brasiliano, nel quale sono rappresentate le migliori composizioni
ed arrangiamenti. Il coro ha cantato in Argentina, Austria, Cile, Repubblica Ceca,
Germania, Grecia, Ungheria, Polonia, Portogallo, Slovenia, Spagna e Svezia.
Ultimamente, nel 2010 e nel 2012, il coro stato premiato con una medaglia doro
nella categoria Cori Misti al VI Concorso Corale Internazionale Robert Schumann
(Germania); inoltre ha ottenuto il primo premio nella categoria Musica Folk, due
secondi premi, nella categoria Cori Misti e Musica Sacra ed un premio speciale per
la miglior esecuzione di un lavoro di un compositore Russo al X e allVIII Festival
Internazionale di Arte Corale Te Singing World. Il direttore del coro Eder Camzis.

Te Laiks Choir (Liepaja city, Latvia) was founded in 2005 and has participated
successfully in several choral music events of various kinds, and in a number of
competitions and festivals. Te choir has given concerts in Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania
and Germany. Important events include: 2013 Nineteenth International Stasys imkus
choir competition, Grand Amber Prize (Klaipeda, Lithuania); 2013 Sixth Liepaja
concert 4+4 squared by R.Zalupe world premiere in collaboration with Liepaja
Symphony Orchestra (LSO) and Riga Saxophone Quartet (Liepaja, Latvija); 2012
Stabat Mater by Karl Jenkins to celebrate the 760th anniversary of Klaipeda city in
collaboration with the orchestra of Klaipeda State Musical Teatre, Lithuanian choirs
and soloists (Klaipeda, Lithuania); 2012 G.F.Handel Messiah in collaboration with the
conductor Andris Veismanis, LSO, Ave Sol chamber choir (Riga, Latvia), the soloists of
the Latvian National Opera (Liepaja, Latvia); 2009 Duke Ellingtons Sacred Concert
in collaboration with LSO and the composer Raimonds Pauls (Liepaja, Latvia); 2009
Second International Emls Drzi choir competition, fourth place in the Mixed
Voice Choirs category (Riga, Latvia); 2007 Seventh International festival of sacred

Coro Tonos Humanos - Colombia

Te Tonos Humanos Choir, based in Medellin, Colombia, comprises about 32 amateur singers
who have built a reputation for performing a wide-ranging repertoire of both a cappella and
accompanied music from the ffeenth century to the present day, including several First
Performances in Colombia. In 1996 Tonos Humanos performed for the frst time outside the
country at an International Choral Festival in Guayaquil, Ecuador. In 1997, the ensemble
participated in the Fifh International Choir Competition G.P. da Palestrina in Rome, where it
was awarded the Silver Medal in the Category A: mixed choirs with compulsory work. In 1998 it
took part in the Fifh International Choir Festival in Yucatn, Mxico and in 1999 Tonos Humanos
reached the third place at the International Choir Contest Cantate Maasmechelen in Belgium.
In 2004 Tonos Humanos was the winner of the Malta Choir Festival and competition which
took place on the Island of Malta. Tonos Humanos has also received a number of invitations
from the Biblioteca Luis Angel Arango, one of the most important concert halls in the country,
and performed there in 1998, 2004 and 2006. Te choir recorded the CDs Vamos al Portal in
1998 and Seores Vengo del Cielo in 2006. Its more recent recording comprises childrens
songs for four voices by Colombian and Latin-American composers. For its 25th anniversary
celebration the choir performed the Vespro della Beata Vergine by Claudio Monteverdi, which
was presented in Medellin and Bogot. In 2010 the most notable repertoire was the series of
Bach Cantatas. In 2011 the choir took part in the Arezzo International Competition where it
was awarded frst place in the folklore category. In 2013 it was one of the Leading Choirs of
America Cantat 7 in Bogot, Colombia. Te choir is conducted by Cecilia Espinosa Arango.

amatoriali che si sono costruiti una reputazione nel canto, spaziando in un vasto repertorio che
comprende sia brani a cappella che con accompagnamento musicale, dal XV secolo ai giorni nostri,
incluse alcune prime esecuzioni in Colombia. Nel 1996 il Coro Tonos Humanos si esibito per
la prima volta fuori dal proprio Paese, al Festival Internazionale Corale di Guayaquil, in Ecuador.
Nel 1997, lensemble ha partecipato al V Concorso Corale Internazionale G.P. da Palestrina a
Roma, dove stato premiato con la Medaglia dArgento nella Categoria A (cori misti con brano
obbligatorio). Nel 1998 ha partecipato al V Festival Corale Internazionale in Yucatn, Messico e nel

Te Choir Gaudeamus was founded in November 1999. Te members of the choir are
students and graduates of the Irkutsk State University. Te choir is an active participant
in the local Christmas and Easter Music Festivals and gives solo concerts every year in the
Organ Hall of Irkutsk. In August 2005, Gaudeamus participated in the International Choral
Festival Singing world in St Petersburg, Russia. Te choir was awarded a commemorative
medal and an honorary diploma. In 2010, the choir won the Cup and Silver Diploma
in the Second International Music Festival (Bratislava, Slovakia) in the Sacred music
and A cappella category. Te choir took part in the Eleventh International Festival of
University Choirs Universitas Cantat 2013 in July 2013, receiving well-deserved praise
from the Polish audience. Gaudeamus gave two charity concerts in November 2013. In
January 2014, the choir participated in the Grand Christmas Concert at Irkutsk Teater.
At present, the choir is seeking new ways to continue its development and improve its
performing skills. Today the choir of the Law Institute of the ISU Gaudeamus under
the leadership of Oksana Bukreeva is the pride of the University and its visiting card.
Te choir is a friendly team of students, united through music, singing, and creativity.
Il Coro Gaudeamus stato fondato nel 1999. I membri del coro sono studenti e
diplomati dellUniversit Statale di Irkutsk. Il coro partecipa attivamente ai Festival
locali che si svolgono nel periodo di Natale e di Pasqua. Ogni anno il coro tiene concerti
nella Organ Hall di Irkutsk. NellAgosto del 2005 Gaudeamus ha partecipato al Festival
Corale Internazionale Singing World di San Pietroburgo, Russia. Il coro ha ricevuto una
medaglia commemorativa ed un diploma onorario. Nel 2010 il coro ha vinto la coppa
e il diploma dargento al 2 Festival Internazionale Musicale di Bratislava (Slovacchia)
per la musica sacra. Il coro ha inoltre partecipato all11 Festival Internazionale per Cori
Universitari denominato Universitas Cantat 2013 che si svolto dal 26 al 29 Luglio
2013. Il coro ha meritato i riconoscimenti del pubblico Polacco. Il Coro Gaudeamus ha

partecipato al grande Concerto di Natale nel Teatro di Irkutsk. Attualmente il coro sta
cercando nuove opportunit per sviluppare e migliorare le proprie capacit. Oggi il coro
dellIstituto di Legge di ISU Gaudeamus un vanto e un biglietto da visita dellUniversit,
sotto la direzione di Oksana Bukreeva. Il coro dellIstituto di Legge un amichevole

Te Uka Cultural Association was founded in Matulji in 1954, and in 1962, inside the
association, Leo Ivani founded the Uka Female Choir. Troughour the 1980s the
choir increased in number thanks to the transition of singers from the elementary choir to
the female choir. Uka Choir has performed in many concerts both at home and abroad.
In 1995 Nedeljka Srebovt became the conductor of the choir. In 2002 the choir gave an
important concert at the Government Palace in Fiume; the concert was flmed and was
recorded on the CD entitled Dar od srca. Te choir has collaborated with the composer
Ljubomir Kuntari and performed the premiere of two Slovenian Songs Munska maa
and Ote na. In 2011, for its 50 years under the conductor of Saa Matovina, the choir
made a CD Zlato po Ukun and a video Djevojka sa sela. In its varied repertoire
the choir has pieces from Istria and Croatia, and songs by the composer Ivan Mateti
Ronjgov, including ae moj, Vrnitev, Pod Ukun. Many generations of singers have
participated in the choir with enthusiasm and love. Today the choir has 23 members.

pjevaki zbor Uka Matulji. Fino alla fne degli anni ottanta il numero di membri
si moltiplica grazie allafusso delle cantanti che passano dal coro elementare al grande
coro femminile. Gi allora la compagnia si esibisce con tanto successo sia in patria che
allestero. Nedeljka Srebovt prese le redini della dirigenza nel 1995. Nel 2002 si tenne il
concerto nel Palazzo del Governatore a Fiume; tutto il concerto fu flmato e inciso sul
CD intitolato Dar od srca. Poco dopo il coro collabor con il compositore Ljubomir
Kuntari ed esegu in anteprima due antichi canti sloveni Munska maa (Messa
di Mune) e Ote na (Padre nostro). Nel 2011 il coro comp i suoi 50 anni sotto la
direzione di Saa Matovina che consent di incidere il CD Zlato po Ukun (Sotto il
Monte Maggiore) ed di flmare il primo video Djevojka sa sela. Nel variegato repertorio
di canzoni si mise laccento sulle melodie istriane e del litoraneo croato, soprattutto
sulle canzoni di Ivan Mateti Ronjgov, come ae moj, (Padre mio), Vrnitev, Pod
Ukun (Sotto il Monte Maggiore). Diverse generazioni di cantanti frequentarono
il coro partecipando con entusiasmo e amore. Oggi il coro Uka ha 23 cantanti.

Grniczy Chr Mski (Miners Male Voice Choir), whose patron is KGHM Polska Mied
SA O/ZG LUBIN, was established in the year 1980. Lubin is a town situated in Lower
Silesia in the south-west of Poland. It is the capital of the Polish Copper Region one of
the biggest copper and silver producers in the world. Te members of the Choir consist
mainly of employees of the copper industry, but also includes retired miners and students.
Te core activity of the Choir is to make the culture of music more widely known among
the miners. Te Choirs activity is voluntary. Te ensemble is continuously enriching its
repertoire, which includes hundreds of songs. As ofen as possible, it takes part in choir
competitions and tournaments. Since its beginnings the choir has given over 1100 concerts
in Poland and abroad. Hundreds of hours spent on rehearsals has contributed to many
successes, distinctions and awards (including gold and bronze medals at the International
Choir Competition and Festival Canco Mediterrania 2013). Te conductor of the choir
is Mr Krzysztof Kujawski, music teacher and graduate of the Music Academy in d.
He is also a graduate in mining engineering of the University of Technology in Wrocaw.

proprio repertorio, che consiste di centinaia di brani. Il pi spesso possibile il coro
partecipa a concorsi corali. Dal suo inizio ad oggi, il coro ha eseguito oltre 1100
concerti in Polonia e allestero. Le centinaia di ore dedicate alle prove hanno contribuito
ai successi ed ai riconoscimenti ottenuti (medaglia doro e di bronzo al Concorso

Diponegoro University Choir was founded in October 1972 by the students council
of Diponegoro University (Semarang, Central Java, Indonesia). Diponegoro University
Choir is not only a place where students who love music and singing may gather,
but also a symbol proving that hard work and commitment are necessary in order
to achieve ones aims and reach perfection. Diponegoro University Choir now relies
on Jefry Franklin Bode as coach, brother, and motivator all at once for all members.

studenti dellUniversit Diponegoro (Semarang, Central Java, Indonesia). Il coro non

che dimostra come il duro lavoro e limpegno siano necessari al fne di raggiungere i

Te INTIS (Te Irrational Synthesis of Imaginary Unsurpassable Noise) Youth Choir from
Liepajas was founded in 1987 by its conductor Ilze Valce. INTIS is the frst choral group
in Liepaja to enter competitions at international level, as well as participating in festivals
and concerts afer Latvia regained its independence in 1990, thus making Liepaja known
on the world music scene. Te choir promotes the music of Latvian and specifcally Liepaja
composers, and has gained recognition and appreciation in numerous choir competitions:
it has participated in more than twenty diferent choir festivals and international choir
competitions. Te choir has collaborated successfully with Liepaja Symphony Orchestra and
with Liepaja Teatre, taking part in the staging of seven operas and musical performances.
Liepaja Youth Choir INTIS took part in the Twentieth and Twenty-ffh Nationwide Latvian
Song Celebration events and was a fnalist in Choir Wars. Te members of INTIS Choir
are pupils of secondary education institutions in Liepaja, students of Liepaja University
and also other residents of Liepaja and the surrounding area. Te choirs repertoire consists
of original music by Latvian and foreign composers and of folk music arrangements.
Il Coro Giovanile Liepajas INTIS (LIrrazionale Sintesi dellImmaginario Rumore
Insuperabile) stato fondato nel 1987 dal direttore Ilze Valce. INTIS il primo gruppo della
citt di Liepaja che si inserisce in un contesto di livello internazionale, partecipando a festival
e concerti dopo lottenimento dellindipendenza della Lettonia nel 1990 che ha portato la
citt di Liepaja a livello mondiale, attraverso la promozione della musica Lettone e nello
specifco dei compositori di Liepaja, e attraverso il riconoscimento e lapprezzamento in
concorsi corali. Il coro ha partecipato a pi di venti festival corali e concorsi internazionali.
Durante la sua attivit il coro ha avuto una attiva cooperazione con lOrchestra Sinfonica di
Liepaja e con il Teatro di Liepaja; il Coro INTIS ha partecipato a sette opere ed esecuzioni
musicali. Il Coro Giovanile Liepaja INTIS ha partecipato al XX e XXV Festival Musicale
Lettone. I membri del coro sono ragazzi della scuola secondaria di Liepaja, studenti

Concerto Glacensis Choir, Klodzko, (Poland) is made up of amateur singers of diferent ages
and occupations. It was established in 1998 by conductor Katarzyna Maka. Te choirs aim is to

oratory and a cappella pieces from diferent periods and in various styles, and also works with the
Czestochowa Philharmonic Orchestra (Poland). Concerto Glacensis Choir has won awards in both

Choir Festival in Glogow (Poland); 2007, second place, National Festival of Christmas Carols in

Te Students Choir of HulakArtemovsky Cherkassy Musical College consists mainly of students
in the second, third, and fourth years of study. Te choir is very versatile; its repertoire includes
compositions of world classical music, arrangements of folk songs, and pieces of contemporary
music. Te members of the choir take an active part in the musical life of the city; the choir is the
centre of cultural and spiritual enrichment for these young people. Last year the choir successfully
cooperated with brass and chamber orchestras. In April 2013 the Students Choir of Cherkassy
Music College was the proud winner of the Grand Prix and two gold medals at the International
Choir Competition Slovakia Cantat 2013 (Bratislava, Slovakia). Te gold medals were awarded in
two diferent categories: academic mixed choir and folk songs. In November 2013 the Students
Choir of Cherkassy Music College was the winner of the Gold Cup in the folk category at the
International Choir Competition Praga Cantat 2013 (Prague, Czech Republic). Furthermore, an
Honor Cup was awarded to the choir conductor for excellent conducting. Choirmaster Natalia
Shmaraieva-Gozha graduated from the Dragomanov National Music Teaching University with
a Masters degree in Voice Preparation and Choir Conducting. She also graduated from the
A.V. Nezhdanova State Academy of Music, Odessa, receiving a degree in Choir Conducting.

La maggior parte dei componenti sono studenti al 2-4 anno di studio. Il coro molto versatile.
Il repertorio del coro include composizioni di musica classica internazionale, arrangiamenti di
canzoni folk e brani di musica contemporanea. I membri del coro partecipano attivamente alla vita
concertistica della citt. E il centro dellarricchimento culturale e spirituale che permette ai giovani
di crescere. Lanno scorso, il coro ha collaborato con successo con orchestre di ottoni e orchestre
da camera. NellAprile 2013 il coro Studentesco del Collegio di Musica Cherkassy ha conquistato
il Gran Premio e due Medaglie dOro al Concorso Corale Internazionale Slovakia Cantat 2013, a
Bratislava (Repubblica Slovacca) per la categoria Cori Misti e Musica Folk. Nel Novembre 2013 il
coro ha vinto la Coppa dOro nella categoria folk al Concorso Corale Internazionale Praga Cantat

LEnsemble Vocale Rondo stato creato nel 2006 ed formato da diplomati di primo
livello della Scuola di Musica Bacewicz di Wroclaw e da ex-membri del Coro Con Brio,

Ars Canto G. Verdi Choir was founded in 1990 as a childrens choir. Over the years the
choir developed into diferent levels: preparatory, childrens choir, youth choir. Since 2010
the choir has been conducted by Gabriella Corsaro, a graduate in singing at Vibo Valentia
Conservatoire. Te members of the choir are currently aged between six and twenty-one
years. As the Teatro Regio Childrens Choir, it has taken part in opera and symphonic
productions in Parma. Te repertoire ranges from Gregorian chants to contemporary
music, and recently also to jazz. Ars Canto G. Verdi Choir was the only choir to win an
award at the Fify-Fifh Arezzo International Competition (childrens choir category); in
2009 the choir won the Franchino Gafurio Competition (youth choir category). Te choir
has taken part in all the iterations of the Verdi Festival. For its social activity the choir
received an award for its work in popularizing musical culture as an essential part of the
intellectual and ethical growth of the person. Since 2012 the choir has cooperated with Les
Petits Chanteurs de Strasbourg. Te choir sang the frst performance of Alice, Cantata per
bambini by Ailem Carvajal. Bartoletti defned it one of the best European youth choirs.
LArs Canto G.Verdi, nasce nel 1990 come coro voci bianche. Si evoluto in varie formazioni:
propedeutica, voci bianche e gruppo giovanile. Dal 2010 diretto da Gabriella Corsaro,
diplomata in Canto al Conservatorio di Vibo Valentia. Attualmente i cantori coprono larco di
et dai 6 ai 21 anni. Riconosciuto quale Coro Voci Bianche del Teatro Regio di Parma, partecipa
alle produzioni liriche e sinfoniche. Il suo repertorio spazia dal gregoriano al contemporaneo
e recentemente anche al jazz. Unico coro premiato al 55 Concorso Polifonico Internazionale
Guido dArezzo (categoria voci bianche), nel 2009 vince il Concorso Franchino Gafurio
(categoria giovanile). Presente in tutte le edizioni del Festival Verdi con concerti a tema.
Nel segno dellimpegno sociale premiato Per la capacit di trasmettere una cultura della
formazione musicale nella sua accezione pi alta ed universale come parte essenziale della
crescita intellettuale ed etica dellindividuo. Dal 2012 collabora con Les Petits Chanteurs

Te Ensemble Cantoholics is recruited from the great choir of the Musikgymnasium
Innsbruck, in existence since 1990 at the school for young musicians in Innsbruck. Te
group comprises eight women and seven men. Founded by Siegfried Portugaller the choir
has taken part in numerous competitions: Musikfestival for the Young in Neerpelt/
Belgium twice, where it won the frst prize cum laude and in Canta al Mar, Barcelona 2013.
Also in the Austrian Federal Choir Competition (Bundesjugendsingen) the ensemble was
successful seven times running in recent years and was repeatedly classifed as excellent.
What brings the group together is its love for music, its enthusiasm for expressing feeling
through voices in perfect harmony, allowing the singers to appreciate the richness of music
and really enjoy it. Moreover, singing promotes friendship and brings people together.
LEnsemble Cantoholics proviene dal grande coro del Musikgymnasium di Innsbruck,
che esiste dal 1990 allinterno della scuola per giovani musicisti. Lensemble formato
da otto donne e sette uomini. Fondato da Siegfried Portugaller, il coro ha partecipato a
numerosi concorsi: Musikfestival for the Young in Neerpelt (Belgio), due volte, dove ha
ottenuto il Primo Premio e Canta al Mar, Barcelona (Spain) 2013. Anche al Concorso

Te Resonance Childrens Choir is made up of pupils of the Resonance vocal department at
Teb School for the Arts. In its four departments it works with singers aged 4 to 18 years.
Key events include the Festival of Sacred Music Musica Sacra ber die Grenzen, which is
held alternately in Austria and in the Czech Republic. Te choir has received awards in many
competitions: gold zone of the regional round of the DPS in Brno (April 2002); prize for the
best conductor and gold band in the regional Highlands in April 2003 with participation in the
national show in Rychnov. In 2012 the choir won the silver medal in the National Competition
Porta Musicae New Jicin. In the years 2005 2012 the choir fnished in the gold zone at regional
and county show DPS and advanced to the National show in Rychnov, Pardubice and Uniova.
Te choir regularly participates in the Garden Prague song competition, where this year it also
took the silver position. Te choir organizes its own concert performances such as the Tebsk
Rezonovn Song Festival, and also organizes parades and festivals. Te choir actively participates
in the so-called educational concerts entitled Playful Resonovn or accompanies the Christmas
concert of popular singer Petra Bendeho. Te repertoire is chosen mainly by the director and
includes classical and folk songs, spirituals and jazz, musicals and pop. One hundred and twenty
singers have been members of the choir over the years; currently it has forty-six members.
Il coro a voci bianche formato da bambini del dipartimento vocale Resonance della Scuola delle
Arti di Teb. Nei suoi quattro dipartimenti lavora con cantanti da 4 a 18 anni di et. Uno degli
eventi principali il Festival di Musica Sacra che si svolge alternativamente in Austria e nella
Repubblica Ceca. Il coro ha ottenuto il diploma doro al Festival Corale di Brno nel 2002 e il
diploma doro e il premio per il miglior direttore al Festival Corale di Rychnov, nel 2003. Nel
2012 il coro ha vinto la medaglia dargento al Concorso Nazionale Porta Musicae New Jicin. Dal
2005 al 2012 ha partecipato con successo a manifestazioni corali a Rychnov, Pardubice e Uniova
(Repubblica Ceca). Questanno, al Concorso corale di Praga ha ottenuto il diploma dargento.
Il coro organizza concerti e festival, come il Festival Corale Nazionale Tebsk Rezonovn.
Attivamente il coro partecipa al progetto educativo musicale denominato Playful Resonovn o
accompagna al concerto di Natale la cantante di musica popolare Petra Bendeho La selezione
dei brani viene curata dal direttore e comprende musica classica e folk, spirituals, jazz, e musica
pop. Dal suo inizio, hanno fatto parte del coro 120 cantanti, attualmente formato da 46 membri.

Te Academic Choir Coro Da Camera of the Pozna University of Life Sciences was established
in 1993 on the initiative of the present conductor Barbara Dbrowska-Silska. Initially, the choir
functioned as an association, and then it was under the patronage of the Agricultural Academy.
Members of the choir include students and graduates of the University of Life Sciences and other
higher education institutions in Pozna. Te choirs repertoire includes a variety of styles and
musical forms ranging from early to contemporary music, from classics to more entertaining,
lighter songs. Te choir regularly appears at academic ceremonies held at the University of Life
Sciences. Moreover, the choir is actively engaged in concerts held in Pozna. Troughout its
history apart from participation in numerous cultural events in Pozna the choir has also
participated in many festivals and competitions both in Poland and abroad, where the group was
ofen successful and proudly represented Polish musical culture and its Alma Mater. Last year the
choir celebrated the 20th anniversary of its artistic activity. On this occasion, the choir performed,
in cooperation with the Baroque Orchestra of the Academy of Music in Pozna, Magnifcat
in G minor by Antonio Vivaldi and also released a jubilee album including this masterpiece.
Il Coro Accademico da Camera dellUniversit delle Scienze di Pozna stato fondato nel
1993 su iniziativa dellattuale direttore Barbara Dbrowska-Silska. Inizialmente il coro funzionava
come associazione ed era sotto il patronato dellAccademia dellAgricoltura. I membri del coro
sono studenti e diplomati dellUniversit delle Scienze e di altre istituzioni educative di Pozna.
Il repertorio del coro comprende una grande variet di stili e forme musicali, spaziando dalla
musica antica a quella contemporanea, dalla musica classica a quella di intrattenimento, alla
musica leggera. Il coro regolarmente si esibisce durante le cerimonie accademiche che si
svolgono allUniversit delle Scienze. Inoltre il coro attivo nella vita concertistica di Pozna. Il
coro ha partecipato a numerosi festival e concorsi in Polonia e allestero, dove il gruppo ha con
successo e con orgoglio rappresentato la cultura musicale della Polonia. Lo scorso anno il coro
ha celebrato i suoi 20 anni di attivit. In questa occasione il coro si esibito in collaborazione
con lOrchestra Barocca dellAccademia Musicale di Pozna, nel Magnifcat in Sol minore di

Te Avrora Childrens Choir was founded in 2009. It is the longest-standing choir of
Number Sixteen Childrens School of Arts . Anastasia Belyaeva has been the director of the
choir since its inception. Children of 10-15 years sing in the senior chorus. Te choir has
been awarded prizes at several national and international competitions, such as Victorious
Spring (2010), Sing me that song (2010), With Love to Russia (2011), Clear is the Azure
Firmament (2012), History of the Russian State (2012), Singing Universe (2013), Silver
Sound (zech Republic, 2013). Te choirs repertoire is wide and varied. Over the years it has
sung various pieces of classical music from diferent eras, countries, styles and genres. Te
director of the choir Anastasia Belyaeva has won several prizes and has been especially
commended both as a conductor and as a teacher. In 2011 Anastasia was awarded a prize at
Best in Trade Competition held for Moscow music teachers working at childrens schools of
music. In 2013 she won the frst prize at the Competition for Young Conductors in Moscow,
and a special prize at the Seventh International Competition for Young Choral Conductors.

allinterno della Scuola delle Arti per Bambini n.16. Fin dalla sua fondazione direttore del
coro Anastasia Belyaeva. I bambini di et compresa tra 10 e 15 anni cantano nel coro dei
grandi. Il coro ha ottenuto premi in diversi concorsi nazionali ed internazionali, tra cui:

In 2007 the council of the Choral Association and of the Music School of Koblenz asked themselves
why young people in the town did not sing in choirs, while there were many singers among children
and adults. Te conclusion was that they needed a choral project for this age group with fexible
time for rehearsals and arrangements from pop, jazz and gospel music. Jrgen Bhme, for his
creativeness, his determination and personal diligence, became the conductor of this new choral
reality in Koblenz. Since its foundation Bhme has been choir manager, artistic director, conductor,
composer, arranger, singer, pianist, and vocal coach. In the executive team we have Mohani Poulet,
who conducts the choir while Bhme sings with the basses or plays the piano. Poulet takes care of
public relations. Te repertoire of the choir ranges from popular songs in modern arrangement, to
gospel, spiritual, swing and blues music to pieces by German composers such as Die rzte or Tim
Bendzko. Since its inception over seventy young singers have taken part in the Junger Chor Koblenz.
Nel 2007 i responsabili dellassociazione corale e della scuola di musica di Coblenza si sono
chiesti perch i giovani tra i 14 e 24 anni della citt cantassero molto pi raramente in cori di
quanto non facessero bambini o adulti. Le cause sono state individuate velocemente: mancava
un complesso corale progettato specifcamente per questa fascia det, che unisse sia un impegno
corale orientato al risultato che tempi fessibili per le prove e arrangiamenti impegnativi tratti
dal mondo pop, jazz e gospel. In Jrgen Bhme stato subito individuato il direttore che con
la sua creativit inventiva, il suo polso fermo ed il suo impegno personale ha portato avanti
la fondazione di questa nuova realt corale a Coblenza. Da allora Bhme manager del coro,
organizzatore, direttore artistico, compositore, arrangiatore, cantante, pianista, preparatore
vocale e direttore di coro in una sola persona. Per il supporto musicale e organizzativo, nello
stesso anno di fondazione Bhme ha chiamato nel team direzionale Mohani Poulet, che dirige
il coro quando Bhme canta nei bassi o accompagna lesecuzione al pianoforte. Poulet si occupa
dei anche contatti sociali nel coro. Il repertorio del coro spazia da canzoni popolari proposte in
una veste moderna, musica Gospel e Spiritual, Swing e Blues, fno ad arrangiamenti di musicisti
tedeschi di spicco come Die rzte o Tim Bendzko (Welt retten). Dalla fondazione del coro
nel 2007 hanno partecipato fnora pi di 70 giovani ai progetti dello Junger Chor Koblenz.

Vokalna Skupina Aurora, Ljubljana (Vocal Group Aurora Ljubljana) has grown out of the
friendship and love for singing of some of the former members of the Aurora Girls Choir
SVGL which for twenty years has worked with great success at the Secondary School for
preschool teachers and the gymnasium in Ljubljana SVGL under the leadership of Janja
Dragan Gomba. In the last three years, since its inception in 2011, Vocal Group Aurora
has been developing, together with conductor and artistic leader Janja Dragan Gomba,
an ambitious repertoire comprising Slovene and international choral music. In 2013
Brittens Ceremony of Carols with the harpist Sophia Ristic was especially well received
by the audience. Janja Dragan Gomba graduated from Ljubljana Music Academy. As
a choir conductor she has worked with children, youth and mixed choirs. With Girls
Choir Aurora she achieved gold prize and category winner at Riva del Garda 2002, Young
Prague 2007, Bratislava 2008, Cum laude at Neerpelt 2006. She has attended master
classes with Tnu Kaljuste and Frieder Bernius. She works as a music teacher at SVGL.

alcuni ex- membri del Coro Femminile Aurora che ha lavorato con grande successo alla

Te Prismatico InCanto Vocal Group was founded in the frame of a contemporary
music project organized by Fabrizio Bartalucci at the Livorno Mascagni Music School
in the academic year 2012-2013. Its members are students from several disciplines. Te
debut of the choir was on 10 April 2013, when the group performed the piece Considera il
vetro by Pavel A. Florenskij (eight voices, fve parts) at the Suoni Inauditi International
Contemporary Music Festival. Te voice search is focused mainly on the word and its
developments, the stratifcation of sound of its references, both in equal-voice and
mixed-voice singing. In November 2013 the group took part in the Tird International
Choral Competition in Matera, Italy, where it won the First Prize and two Special Prizes.
Fabrizio Bartalucci is a composer, teacher and choral conductor; he has published
the book Teoria della musica. Simbolo, numero e bellezza (second edition in 2011).
Il Gruppo Vocale Prismatico InCanto, di recente formazione, sorto allinterno di
un progetto di musica corale contemporanea tenuto dal maestro Fabrizio Bartalucci
nellanno accademico 2012-2013 presso lIstituto Superiore di Studi Musicali P.
Mascagni di Livorno, e raccoglie studenti di varie discipline. Ha debuttato il 10 aprile
2013 presentando, tra laltro, alla IV Rassegna Internazionale di Musica Contemporanea
Suoni Inauditi, il brano per esso appositamente composto: Considera il vetro, pensieri di
Pavel A. Florenskij (su tempo eternit e visione) per otto voci, in cinque parti. La ricerca
vocale si incentra principalmente sulla parola ed i suoi esiti, sullo stratifcarsi sonoro
dei suoi rimandi, lavorando sia a voci pari che dispari. Allargando il proprio repertorio,
il Gruppo ha poi partecipato con successo, nel novembre 2013, al III Concorso Corale
Internazionale A. Guanti di Matera, vincendo il Primo premio e ben due premi speciali.

An enthusiasm for classical music converged in the ffies with the presence of Maestro Pablo Casals
in Puerto Rico and the creation of the Puerto Rico Casals Festival. Tis dynamic musical atmosphere
gave life to the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra and the Puerto Rico Music Conservatory. Te
Coro de Nios de San Juan made its appearance on the local cultural scene in 1966, with
Maestro Casals as its mentor. He discovered in Evy Luco Crdova a unique gif for choral
direction and the development of artistic talent in children. Under the trained hand of its founder
and current artistic director, the choir grew and evolved into a musical group with international
transcendence. Te choir received the distinction of Goodwill Emissaries by the Puerto Rico State
Department. Today they can proudly state that they are considered one of the best childrens choirs
in the world according to the opinion of renowned musicians such as Polish composer Krzysztof
Penderecki and maestro Constantin Orbelian, director of the Moscow Chamber Orchestra. Te
choir has a special niche in Puerto Rican music history. Te choir has represented Puerto Rico
and the United States through its concerts in prominent international venues such as the Wiener
Musikverein in Vienna, the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Hermitage Palace in St. Petersburg,
Russia, Teresa Carreo Teater in Bogot-Colombia, the Kennedy Center for the Performing
Arts in Washington D.C., Alice Tully Hall at the Lincoln Center, and Carnegie Hall in New York.
Lentusiasmo per la musica classica coincise con la presenza del maestro Pablo Casals, negli anni
cinquanta, a Porto Rico e con la creazione del Puerto Rico Casals Festival. Questa dinamica
atmosfera musicale diede vita allOrchestra Sinfonica di Porto Rico e al Conservatorio di Musica di
Porto Rico. Il Coro dei Bambini di San Juan fece la sua comparsa sulla scena culturale locale nel

Te Wroclaw University of Economics Ars Cantandi Choir started its activity in 2005. Most of
its participants are students and graduates of Wroclaw University of Economics people who
love singing and music. Te choir participates in ceremonies at the University of Economics
and in special events around Wroclaw and the Lower Silesia academic scene. Te choir has
also taken part in festivals, concerts and competitions in Ukraine, Belarus, Italy, Greece, Czech
Republic, and Macedonia. Te choirs most recent successes are: frst place at the thirty-second
Carols and Popular Songs Choral Festival in Myslenice, (January 2013); two Gold Medals
at the forty-frst International Choir Festival of Songs in Olomouc, Czech Republic (June
2013); First Prize at the Ohrid Choir Festival in Macedonia (August 2013); First Prize and
special prize for the best conductor at the Wratislavia Sacra International Choral Festival in
Wroclaw (April 2014). Te Ars Cantandi Choir has a wide-ranging repertoire including music
by national and foreign composers from various ages with both religious and secular themes.
Te ensemble performs many kinds of music, from classical to gospel and pop music. Te
conductor is Anna Grabowska-Borys, and the assistant conductor is Magdalena Truszkowska.

Damenes Afen (Ladies Evening) celebrated their twentieth anniversary in 2012, and
they can look back on twenty-one years of activity in the area of Hamar, as well as several
trips to other countries. Some of the highlights are three frst places and Grand Prix at an
international choir competition in Sligo, Ireland, in 2013. Other highlights include three frst
places in Vienna, Austria in 2009 and Riva del Garda, Italy in 2007, and one frst place and
two second places at an international choir competition in Sligo, Ireland, in 2005. Damenes
Afen has recorded two CDs. Te choir has also toured in Spain several times, and competed
in a Habaneras competition against some of the worlds best choirs. Damenes Afen is
ranked as number thirteen among the Top Fify choirs for sacred music in Interkultur,
Musica Mundi world ranking list, and number ffy-three among all choirs in their Top
Tousand ranking list. Erland Dalen was educated at the University of Oslo and Hedmark
University College. He conducts a number of choirs and has toured all over the world. He
composes music for choirs and is also an adjudicator at international choral competitions.

Te Mundus Cantat SSW Sopot Festival Choir was founded in August 2009. Mundus Cantat unites singers
from various backgrounds, including both experienced vocalists and students. As a mixed chamber choir, its
diverse repertoire includes sacred and secular works spanning from the early to contemporary musical eras as
well as popular music from today. Its members have performed in many major musical events, most notably
a recent concert of great flm hits from the rich repertoire of Ennio Morricone during the Solidarity Festival.
August and September of 2010 took Mundus Cantat to Mexico, to take part in the Eleventh International
Choral Festival Mundial de Coros and its frst performance tour. Songs by Frederic Chopin rang out in Iskuar
de Matamoros, Choluli, Tepeace, Pueblo and Cautatli and in the capital, Mexico City. In August 2011 Mundus
Cantat took part in the International Choral Festival in Kragujevac in Serbia, where the choir performed in
several concerts in umadija. Later that year, the Sopot Festival Choir was awarded Second Prize at the Festival
of Kashubian Carols in Pierwoszyno. In June 2011, Mundus Cantat undertook a major artistic tour of Columbia,
singing on stages from Bogota to Medellin. In September 2012, the artistic direction was given to a young
graduate of the Music Academy in Gdansk, Wiktoria Batarowska. She has already achieved many artistic goals
and is now a lecturer at her Alma Mater. In January 2013 Mundus Cantat won the Gold Ribbon at the Eighth
Competition of Carols and Christmas Songs in Chemno. Mundus Cantat won its frst Grand Prix award at the
Antonin Dvorak International Choir Festival in Prague, Czech Republic. Every May, Mundus Cantat, the Baltic
Artistic Agency BART and the City of Sopot co-host many choirs from all over the world during the Mundus
Cantat Sopot International Choir Festival. Mundus Cantat is united by the love and joy of making music together.

di backgrounds diferenti, compresi vocalist e studenti. Essendo un coro da camera misto, il suo repertorio
comprende brani di musica sacra e profana, spaziando dalla musica antica a quella contemporanea, e
popolare. I suoi componenti si sono esibiti nei maggiori eventi musicali, in particolare un recente concerto

Noktirne Female Choir from the city of Tukums, Latvia, was founded in 1973. Since
then the choir has taken part in competitions and festivals with excellent results,
most recently at the Silver Bells international competition in Daugavpils, Latvia,
where it reached third place in the equal voice choirs category, and at the nineteenth
Stasys imkus International Choir Competition where it reached frst place in the
equal voice choirs category. Since its inception, the choir has been composed mainly
of mothers and daughters, making it unique. Te Noktirne Female Choir is currently
conducted by Jnis Almanis and Ritma Zere. Jnis Almanis graduated from the
Jazeps Vitols Music Academy of Latvia in 2013; he has won the competition for
young choir conductors (2008 Latvia) and participated in international competitions
for conductors at Budapest (2011) and Saint-Petersburg (2013). Ritma Zere is well
known as a singer, vocal teacher and choir director in Latvia. Noktirne Choir mainly
sings modern and folk music and has given countless concerts in Latvia and abroad.

Te Priamo Gallisay Cultural Association and its choir were founded by a group of singers with diferent
experiences; the conductor is Sandro Pisanu. Te inhabitants of Nuoro have a notable passion for music:
the city numbers eleven choirs. Te groups repertoire ranges from popular music to sacred and secular
music, from gospel to opera music. In 2010 the choir took part in the Riviera Etrusca National Competition
in Piombino where it won the First Prize for popular music and the Second Prize in the sacred music
category. Te choir has performed concerts with numerous music associations and singers: Diapason
Music Association (Nuoro), L. Canepa Music Association (Sassari), Musica Per Tutti Association (Sestu),
Sonos de Sardigna Brass Quartet (Sassari), San Giorgio String Orchestra (Sestu), Intermezzo Association
(Nuoro), TAIFA (Nuoro), Logudorese Polyphonic Choir (Bonorva), Maurizio Carta Choir (Oristano) ,
soprano Maria Bonaria Monne, actor and theatre director Alessandro Arrabito (Nuoro), organist Andrea
Sarigu (Cagliari). In July 2012 the Priamo Gallisay Cultural Association organized the frst Singing and
Sacred Music Festival in Santa Maria della Neve Cathedral in Nuoro, with other choirs, sopranos Maria
Bonaria Monne and Maria Ladu, pianist Andrea Certa and organist Simone Porcu. In May 2013 the choir
took part in the Sangerstevne Choral Festival in London. In June 2013 the choir recorded its frst CD,
and in August 2013 it organized the second Singing and Sacred Music Festival, with other choirs, soprano
Maria Bonaria Monne, organist Antonella Chironi, saxophonist Mauro Usai and Il Violino string quartet.
LAssociazione Culturale Priamo Gallisay di Nuoro e la sua corale, nasce grazie a un gruppo di coristi
provenienti da varie esperienze ed diretta dal M Sandro Pisanu, consapevole che Nuoro ha nei suoi
abitanti la passione per la musica. La citt ha al suo attivo pi di 11 realt corali. Il repertorio spazia dalla
musica popolare alla polifonia sacra e profana, dal gospel al brano dopera. Nel 2010 partecipa al Concorso
Nazionale Riviera Etrusca a Piombino e vince il 1 Premio nel canto popolare e il 2 Premio nel canto sacro

Belcanto is a choir of the Music Primary School; it was established in 1973 by Iwona Mrz-Dudek.
Since then Belcanto has performed at many school concerts and on stages outside school. With
their conductor, the choir has won numerous prizes and honors at Polish and international
festivals. Te young singers have co-operated with Szczecin Opera, performed on the radio and
television, and recorded CDs. As a result of its many achievements, Belcanto has been invited
to perform at Szczecin Philharmonic Hall, together with professional musicians. Te choir sang
music written by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy for the Shakespeare comedy A Midsummer
Nights Dream, with the Philharmonic Orchestra and soloists Eleonora Bednarska and Tamara
Czapliska. Very valuable and important for Belcanto was its long-standing co-operation with
Marek Jasiski, who is now the schools patron. He was responsible for the arrangement of many
pieces, including Christmas carols, which the choir has sung a number of times on diferent stages.
Roman Kraszewski, Piotr Klimek, Krzesimir Dbski, Aleksander Koszewski, and Jzef wider
are also important fgures for the Belcanto Choir. Currently the conductor of Belcanto Choir is
Szymon Wyrzykowski. He is a graduate of Antoni Wit class, at the Music University in Warsaw.
Belcanto un coro della Scuola Primaria di Musica. Il coro stato fondato nel 1973 da Iwona
Mrz-Dudek. Fin da allora il coro ha eseguito molti concerti in diverse scuole e in altri contesti.

Cantus Ante Omnia Girls Choir was founded in August 2007 as a citizens association of choral
singing enthusiasts. Te aim of the Association is to bring together and educate as many young
singers as possible and to contribute to the ongoing development of the Croatian choir scene in
the country as well as abroad, through its diverse and artistically challenging repertoire. In the
choir today there are around ffeen girls of various ages and occupations who have found an
admirable way to build friendships through systematic artistic work in the noble atmosphere of
good music. Te repertoire of the choir consists of valuable pieces of the countrys artistic and
folklore heritage from various periods of history and geographical areas, languages and dialects.
Recently, the choirs concert repertoire has been enriched with successful adaptations of popular,
gospel and jazz music, and the choir has shown particular sensibility in interpreting contemporary
pieces. Since its establishment in 2007, Cantus Ante Omnia has performed on numerous
occasions and in various choir competitions including the ffy-sixth Europees Muziekfestival
Voor de Jeugd (Neerpelt, Belgium), the twenty-seventh Internationaler Franz Schubert
Choirwettbewerb (Wien, Austria, 2010), Praga Cantat (2012), and the frst European Choir Games
(2013) and it has won numerous prizes. Te choir is conducted by its founder Sneana Pono.
Il Coro Femminile Cantus Ante Omnia stato fondato nellAgosto 2007 come associazione di
cittadini entusiasti del canto corale. Lo scopo dellAssociazione riunire ed educare il maggior
numero di giovani possibile per contribuire ad incrementare il miglioramento del panorama
corale Croato sia allinterno del Paese che allestero attraverso il suo diverso ed impegnativo
repertorio. Nel coro oggi ci sono circa una quindicina di ragazze di diversa et e occupazione
che hanno trovato un ammirevole modo per stringere amicizie attraverso un sistematico
lavoro artistico nella nobile atmosfera della buona musica. Il repertorio del coro consiste di
preziosi brani del patrimonio artistico e folkloristico di diversi periodi e di diferenti aeree
geografche, lingue e dialetti. Recentemente il repertorio dei concerti stato arricchito con
adattamento di brani popolari di successo, gospel e musica jazz, e il coro ha mostrato una
particolare sensibilit nellinterpretazione di pezzi contemporanei. Sin dalla sua costituzione
nel 2007, il Coro Cantus Ante Omnia si esibito in diverse occasioni e in concorsi corali quali
il 56 Europees Muziekfestival Voor de Jeugd (Neerpelt, Belgium), il 27 Internationaler Franz

Te Beijing Asian Sports Village Choir was founded in September 1992 and has over ffy
members; the conductor is Ms Chen Jian and the manager is Mr Li Guangxue. Te choir has
four mixed voices and has taken part in various events in Beijing, Chaoyang District. It has
received over twenty prizes; in 2011 the choir received a special prize. Te members of the choir
fulfll with joy their dream of singing together. Te choir represents China in communication
with other organizations: receiving visitors for games or choir concerts refects the Asian
Sports Village style. Te choir conductor, Ms Chen Jian, engaged in music education for forty
years; now retired she is still active in the feld. She is also one of the examiners of the China
Conservatory of Music Grading Test Committee, of the China Dance Association and of the
Beijing Asian Sports Village Choir. Ms Chen Jian studied under conductors Yan Liangkun, Nie
Zhongming, Hu Defeng, Zhong Weiguo and also under the famous conductor Mr Qiu Li. Te
choir has participated in various competitions and exchange activities, achieving good results.

Mehrevatan Choir was founded in 1998. It has given many concerts in Bahonar University,
in Kerman. Mehrevatan Choir participated four times in the competition Fadjr Music
Festival in Iran, between 2008 and 2012, and it was one of the best choirs in this
international festival. In 2011 it performed at the South Korea International Competition
and held a concert in the same year in Tailand. Te repertoire of Mehrevatan Choir
includes historic songs such as Mafshoo, Lalaei, Leila and Badoh. Te general idea and
the main aim of the choir is to revive the native music of Iran with special emphasis on the
songs in Kerman dialect, which is being forgotten. Te conductor of Mehrevatan Choir
is Masoud Nekooei. He is the manager of the Institute of Music and the author of eleven
books of poetry and music; he has also published four choral a cappella music albums.

Te Academic Choir College Gnesin Russian Academy of Music is a training team, in which students
attend two, three and four courses of the Vocal Art. Since 1996, the choir has been headed by Elena
Kolmakova. Te choir regularly participates in the concerts of the College, joins in independent
programs, and takes part in various projects. With the participation of soloists of the Bolshoi Teatre
of Russia and the Moscow Philharmonic it performed important works including Dvoraks Stabat
Mater and Mozarts Requiem among others. Te choir has performed frequently with the Symphonic,
Chamber and Folk Orchestras College. With the active participation of the choir, the College has
produced operas including Rimsky-Korsakovs Te Tale of Tsar Saltan; Purcells Dido and Aeneas;
Mozarts Le Nozze di Figaro; Glucks Orpheus and Eurydice; Prokofevs Te Love of Tree Oranges;
Mussorgskys Sorochintsy Fair; Donizettis LElisir dAmore, and Tchaikovskys Eugene Onegin.
Concerts have been staged in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, Svetlanov Hall of the
House of Music, the Concert Hall of the Gnesin College. In 2010, the choir won the First Prize at the
International Competition of Choral and Vocal Music Days of Slavic Literature and Culture. In 2012, the
choir became the winner of the Fifh International Festival of non-commercial choir art Chorus Inside
in Moscow. In May 2012, together with the Academic Choir of the M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State
University, the Academic Choir and Symphony Orchestra of the College were present at the Svetlanov
Hall of the Moscow International House of Music with the performance of Taneyevs cantata Ioann
Damaskin. In 2013 and 2014 the choir won the title of Laureate of the contest Festos Choral Spring.

vinto il Primo Premio al Concorso Corale Internazionale Days of Slavic Literature and Culture. Nel 2012
il coro stato il vincitore del V Festival Internazionale Chorus inside di Mosca. Nel Maggio 2012, insieme
al Coro Accademico dellUniversit Statale M.V.Lomonosov di Mosca, il Coro Accademico e lOrchestra
Sinfonica del College, nella Svetlanov Hall della Casa della Musica, ha eseguito la cantata Ioann Damaskin
di Taneyev. Nel 2013 e 2014 il coro ha vinto il titolo di Laureato nellambito del Festos e del Choral Spring.

Romans Vanags - President of the Jury - Latvia
Romans Vanags, president of the jury, a graduate
of Emils Darzins specialized music college and of
the Department of Choir and Orchestra Conducting
of Jzeps Vitols Latvian State Conservatory in Riga
(currently named Jzeps Vitols Latvian Academy
of Music). He received diploma in choir conducting
as well as in music pedagogy. In addition, he was
studying also symphonic orchestra conducting. In
2003 he received professional masters degree in
music. Romans Vanags professional work has been
connected with conducting and pedagogy. Romans
Vanags has been the chief conductor of teachers
choir named Vanema for years (1984-2004) and
since 1990 he has been the principal conductor of
the Latvian University female choir named Minjona.
Since 1987 he has been chief conductor and artistic
director of Jzeps Medi Music School Boys`
Choir. In 1990-1993 he worked with Jazeps Medins
Music College Symphonic Orchestra. Since 1987 Romans Vanags was employed at the Latvian
Music Academy in Riga as professor of choir conducting. He has been the organizer of various
courses for conductors in numerous countries around the world and also jury member of many
international choral competitions. He has also been appointed as one of the chief conductors
of the All Latvian Song Celebration (in 1993, 1998, 2001, 2003, 2008 and 2013) and the Youth
Song Festival (in 1995, 2000, 2005 and 2010) as well. Since 2008 he are also council member
of World Choir Games (WCG) organisation. Since 2012 prof. Romans Vanags is the artistic
director of WCG 2014 in Riga. Te choirs conducted by Romans Vanags have won numerous
awards at international competitions (Arezzo, Debrecen, Tour, Varna, Powel River etc.) and made
concert tours all over the world. In 2008 Romans Vanags received the highest civil decoration
in Latvia the Tree Star Order. As Artistic Director and Choral Conductor, Romans Vanags
took part in the most important musical events all over the world (Finland, Hungary, Croatia,
USA, Austria, Russia, Malaysia, Italy, Lithuania, Indonesia, Malta, Spain). Since 2010 he has been
professor in master-classes and workshops in Conservatories, Musical Academies and Festivals in
Italy, South Africa, Croatia, Iceland, China, Finland, Malaysia, Singapore, Denmark, Indonesia.

Vanags lavora presso lAccademia Musicale Lettone di Riga come professore di direzione di
Coro. E stato lorganizzatore di numerosi corsi per direttori in vari Paesi del mondo ed stato
membro di giuria in diversi concorsi corali internazionali. E stato designato come uno dei
direttori del Festival Musicale All Latvian Song Celebration (nel 1993, 1998, 2001, 2003, 2008
e 2013) e del Youth Song Festival (nel1995, 2000, 2005 e 2010). Dal 2008 anche membro del
Consiglio organizzativo dei World Choir Games (WCG). Dal 2012 Direttore Artistico dei
WCG 2014 che si sono svolti a Riga. I cori diretti da Romans Vanags hanno vinto numerosi

Artists in Salt Lake City, Utah, Brady R. Allred, member
of the jury, has developed an international reputation
for excellence. Under his direction the Salt Lake Choral
Artists, a non-proft arts organization of seven choirs and
300 singers, has achieved critical acclaim for their innovative
concerts, Summer Choral Institute program, international
tours, and YouTube channels. Dr. Allred was honored by
Te Salt Lake Tribune and named as one of Utahs Top
25 Cultural Power Brokers. Known around the world for
exquisite choral singing, Dr. Allreds ensembles have been
invited to participate in major festivals and competitions
around the world. Tey won the Grand Prize at the Florilge
Vocal de Tours (France), the European Grand Prix, and
First Prizes at the Marktoberdorf International Chamber
Choir Competition, the Tolosa (Spain) International Choir
Competition , and the Concorso Polifonico Internazionale
in Arezzo, Italy. He was also awarded the Conductors Prize
in Marktoberdorf, Germany. Te Salt Lake Vocal Artists
represented the USA at the World Choral Symposium in
Argentina and have recently toured to Bulgaria, Turkey,
and Japan. Prior to his full-time appointment as Artistic Director of SLCA, Dr. Allred was Professor
of Music and Director of Choral Studies at the University of Utah. He was also the Music Director
and Conductor for the Butler Symphony Orchestra in Pennsylvania, Director of Choral Activities
at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, and Artistic Director and Conductor of the Bach Choir of
Pittsburgh. He has been a guest conductor for the Schumann Chamber Orchestra in Italy, the Wroclaw
Philharmonic in Poland, the Symphonic Orchestra of the Russian Ministry of Defense, and the Salt Lake
Mormon Tabernacle Choir. He has performed with the Robert Shaw Festival Singers and the Oregon
Bach Festival Chorus under Helmuth Rilling. He has served on international juries for competitions
in Germany, Belgium, France, Slovenia, Spain, Ireland, Brazil, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, and
Tailand. Dr. Allred earned his Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts in Conducting degrees
from the Eastman School of Music, and his undergraduate degree in Teory/Composition and Flute
Performance from Brigham Young University. He and his wife, soprano Carol Ann Allred, have
traveled and performed extensively as Artistic Ambassadors for the United States Information Agency.

Javier Busto, member of the jury, was born in
Hondarribia (Gipuzkoa) on 13 November 1949.
A choral singer since childhood, in his youth
he was part of various rock and folk music
groups. He was awarded a degree in medicine
by the University of Valladolid. Selected through
national entrance exams for the role of family
doctor with the Servicio Vasco de Salud
Osakidetza, he currently practices his profession
in Lezo (Gipuzkoa). As a musician he is self
taught. He began to enter the world of choral
music with the help of the maestro Erwin List.
While at the University of Valladolid he became
conductor of the Ederki Basque choir (1971-
1976), a position in which he won Tird Prize at
a competition in Tolouse in 1975. It was during
this time that he began to write his frst choral works. Founder and conductor of the Eskifaia
Choir of Hondarribia (1978-1994), he won First Prize at Ejea de los Caballeros, Tolosa,
Avils, Tours (France), Gorizia (Italy), Spittal an der Dru (Austria) and Mainhausen,
Marktoberdorf (Germany). He also founded and conducted Kanta Cantemus Korua (1995-
2007), in Gipuzkoa, a female choir with which he won frst prize at Tours (France) (1997-
2007) and in Tolouse (1999). He won prizes for composing at Bilbao, Tolosa, Igualada and
Madrid. His works have been published in Germany (Carus Verlag and Ferrimontana);
France (Editions Coeur Joie); the Basque Country (Bustovega and CM Ediciones
Musicales); the UK (Oxford University Press); Sweden (Gehrmans Musikfrlag) and
the USA (Walton, Alliance Music Publishers and Santa Brbara). He teaches courses and
workshops on choral conducting and sits on the jury at choral composition and performance
competitions in Germany, Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Croatia, Spain, the
USA, France, the Netherlands, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Sweden, Taiwan and Venezuela. He
is a member of the technical committee of the Certamen de Masas Corales in Tolouse.

Cristian Gentilini, member of the jury, Composer and
Choral Conductor, earned a degree in classic guitar at the
Conservatory of Music Giovan Battista Martini of Bologna,
under the guide of M Eugenio Becherucci. He specialized
with professors A. Ponce, A. Diaz and O. Ghiglia. At the
same institution G.B. Martini he took the degree in choral
music and choir conduction (M Pier Paolo Scattolin)
and the degree in composition (M Francesco Carluccio).
He attended master classes of choir conductions with G.
Graden, L. Larsen, G. Grun, F. Heyerick. In october 2003
he was among the 12 fnal contestants at the International
Competition Mariele Ventre for choir conduction.
Founder and director of the vocal ensemble Ars Cantus
(Bologna), he awarded the 1st Absolute Prize at the
3rd National Contest Riviera Etrusca. He awarded also
many Prizes as composer in National and International
Contests: 2nd Prize at the National Competition of
composition Mozart oggi (Milano 2006); 1st Prize at
the National Competition of choir composition Simone
Gentile Arezzo 2006); 2nd Prize at the International
Competition of choir composition organized by FTSC (Lugano, 2007); 3rd Prize at III International

importanti istituzioni corali italiane come docente di direzione di coro in corsi e seminari ed invitato come
giurato in vari concorsi di composizione. Nellottobre 2003 stato ammesso alla fase fnale del Concorso
Internazionale per direttori di coro Mariele Ventre. Ha debuttato come compositore nel 2007 nella 62
Stagione Sinfonica del Teatro dal Verme di Milano con la composizione Rosabel serenata per orchestra. Ha
ottenuto importanti premi e riconoscimenti in concorsi di composizione nazionali ed internazionali (Mozart
oggi, Milano 2006; Simone Gentile, Arezzo 2006; Fosco Corti, Arezzo 2006; Nuvole sopra Torino, Torino
2006; FTSC, Lugano 2007; Musica Sacra, Cambridge 2007; Citt di Vittorio Veneto, 2007 e 2008; Seghizzi,
Gorizia 2007; La vallonea, Lecce 2008; Antonio Manoni, Ancona 2009; Suono Sonda, Genova 2010; Rosolino
Toscano, Pescara 2011). Le sue composizioni sono edite dalle edizioni Sconfnarte (Brescia), Sinfonica

ha fondato il Coro da Camera Eclectica, formazione specializzata nel repertorio corale contemporaneo. Col
gruppo vocale Speculum Ensemble ha inciso per le etichette discografche Tactus (Italia) e Centaur Records
(USA), e collaborato con il Ravenna Festival e il Teatro dellOpera di Roma allallestimento di Tenebrae
nuova opera del compositore Adriano Guarnieri. Dal 2007 si specializza nella prassi flologica del canto

Pawe ukaszewski - Member of the Jury - Poland
Born in Czstochowa in 1968, Pawe ukaszewski, member
of the jury, is a graduate of the Fryderyk Chopin Music
Academy in Warsaw, where he studied the cello (with
Andrzej Wrbel, diploma in 1992) and composition (with
Marian Borkowski, a diploma with distinction in 1995).
In 2000 he gained his Ph.D. in composition (supervisor:
Professor Marian Borkowski), in 2007 he received a
post-doctoral degree and in 2010 the title of Professor.
He worked as a visiting professor in Chile and Argentina
(2003, 2006). He has received numerous commissions
from Poland and abroad (Japan, Germany, Great Britain,
Switzerland) and has held many grants. His honours
include First Prize at the Composers Competition in
oma (1988), an honourable mention at the Tadeusz Baird
Composers Competition (1994), First Prize at the Warsaw
Music Academy Competition (1994), Second Prize at the
2nd Young Composers Forum in Krakw (1994), Second
Prize at the Adam Didur Competition in Sanok (1996), and
Second Prize at the 27th International Florilege Vocal de
Tours Competition in France (1998). He won the Fryderyk Awards of the Polish Phonographic Academy
(2005, 2006), the Award of the town of St Quentin (for the best performance of a contemporary work) at the
Concours Europeen de Choeurs et Maitrises de Cathedrales (2006). He has received the Commanders Cross of
the Order of Polonia Restituta (1998), the award of the Mayor of Czstochowa for outstanding compositional
achievements (1995), the award of the Rector of the Music Academy in Warsaw (2005), the Saint Brother Albert
Chmielowski Award for outstanding achievements in composition, conducting and organization of musical life
(2006), the Gloria Artis Medal of Merit for Culture (2011) and the Award from the Primate of Poland (2011).
Pawe ukaszewski has served as the Director of the International Festival Laboratory of Contemporary
Music (since 1995) and as President of the Musica Sacra Association (since 2000). He is a member of the
ZAiKS Association of Authors and Composers, the Presidium of the Council of the Phonographic Academy
and of the artistic council of the Gaude Mater International Festival of Sacred Music in Czstochowa.

Ilario Muro - Member of the Jury - Italy
Ilario Muro, member of the jury, was born in
Vercelli where he studied at the Viotti School
of Music. His introduction to singing came at
the age of six, when he joined the treble voice
choir at San Cristoforo church, Vercelli, under
the guidance of the Dominican friars. He was a
pupil of the late musician and composer Father
Dante Destefanis. He subsequently joined the
San Cristoforo polyphonic choir, becoming
Choir-Master at the age of just eighteen. He
moved to Rimini in 1988 and became Director
of the Youth Choir founded three years
previously, in 1985, at the parish church of Ges
Nostra Riconciliazione; the choir later took the
name Jubilate Deo. Mr Muro attended courses
held by Marco Gemmani, by Giovanni Acciai
and courses in Gregorian Chant and Semeiotics
held by Professors Oscar Chiodini and Massimo Pacifero at the Santa Cecilia Diocesan
School of Music, Rimini. Mr Muro has also taken part in each of the annual Rimini
International Choral Workshops for choristers and choir directors, held by Andrea
Angelini and by Peter Phillips, Director of the Tallis Scholars. With the Jubilate Deo
Choir, Mr Muro performs almost exclusively sacred music, specialising in Renaissance
polyphonic music. Over the years he has directed the choir in numerous concerts and
liturgical celebrations in Rimini and in many other cities in Italy, including St Peters
Basilica and Santa Susanna church, Rome; Milan Cathedral; Basilica of San Francesco,
Assisi and many others. He has taken part in international events including the Diocesan
Pilgrimage to Rome in the Jubilee year 2000 where the Jubilate Deo Choir formed part
of the Diocesan Choir which sang Mass in St Peters Square. Ilario Muro is the Province
of Rimini Deputy Delegate to A.ER.CO, the Emilia-Romagna Choirs Association.

Musicale Viotti. E stato allievo di Don Dante Destefanis. Passato al coro polifonico
fondato nel frattempo sempre in San Cristoforo, ne divenne il direttore a soli diciotto anni.
Dal 1988 si trasferito a Rimini ed ha ottenuto la direzione del Coro Gruppo Giovani gi
fondato nel 1985 presso la Parrocchia della Riconciliazione, che in seguito ha assunto il
nome di Jubilate Deo. Ha seguito corsi con Marco Gemmani, Giovanni Acciai. Ha anche
partecipato a tute le edizioni del Rimini International Choral Workshop per direttori di

Con il Coro Jubilate Deo si occupa quasi esclusivamente di musica sacra, in particolare di
polifonia rinascimentale, e in questi anni ha efettuato concerti e celebrazioni liturgiche a
Rimini, e nelle principali citt italiane, tra le quali spiccano Roma (S.Pietro, S. Susanna),
Milano (Duomo), Assisi (Basilica di S. Francesco), e tante altre, partecipando ad alcune
rassegne internazionali e ad eventi come il Pellegrinaggio Giubilare del 2000 in qualit
di coro della diocesi di Rimini (Messa in Piazza San Pietro). Nellambito dellA.ER.CO
(Associazione Emiliano-Romagnola Cori) vice delegato per la Provincia di Rimini.

Fabio Pecci - Member of the Jury - Italy
Fabio Pecci, member of the Jury, born in Rimini,
he studied violoncello at Ravennas ofcially
recognized G. Verdi Music School graduating
with brilliant results. As a cellist his busy concert
activity has led him to perform in theatres and
concert halls in Italy and abroad. Awarded in many
competitions, he recorded seven cds for Tactus,
Bongiovanni and other labels. He founded and
directs Le Allegre Note treble voice choir and
Note in Crescendo youth choir, with which he has
also performed in prestigious theatres. With these
two choirs he has over 400 performances, audio
and television recordings to his credit. With them
he also recorded 3 albums which include his own
choral arrangements. With Note in Crescendo he
has held concerts in Berlin, Saint Etienne (Lyon)
and in Czech Republic. With Le Allegre Note he also took part in the production of Te Deum
by H. Berlioz, held in Bologna in October 2008, under the direction of Claudio Abbado, and
was responsible for the preparation of the treble voices in Puccinis Boheme. An enthusiast of
childrens vocalism, he also directs the activity of Riminis Piccole Voci di Carla Amori and
Una Canzone per Crescere at Valconca Comprehensive School. As choir director, he has
received awards and gained recognition in National and International Competitions.From 2013
he is a member of the Artistic Committee of A.E.R.CO Te Regional Choirs Association.

il coro giovanile Note In Crescendo i cori a voci bianche Le Allegre Note (Riccione), Una Canzone
per Crescere (Morciano di R.), Piccole Voci di Carla Amori (Rimini). Ha curato la preparazione
delle voci bianche per il Te Deum di H. Berlioz (Bologna 2008 Direttore Claudio Abbado),
Bohme (Teatro della Regina di Cattolica e Teatro Borgatti Cento), Tosca (Rimini 2010), Carmen
(Stagione Lirica del Teatro Regina di Cattolica, Rimini Capodanno 2011 e Teatro dellOpera
Giocosa Savona Fortezza del Priamr, estate 2011), Focolare Invernale di S. Prokofev, Carmina
Burana con i Percussionisti dellAccademia di Santa Cecilia in Roma e vari cori lirici. Ha ricevuto
tre primi premi assoluti in Concorsi Corali Nazionali a Faenza (RA) e Treviso, oltre a numerosi
altri premi e riconoscimenti. Docente per le tematiche relative alle voci bianche per il Corso di
Direzione Corale di A.E.R.CO, dal 2013 membro della Commissione Artistica di A.E.R.CO.;
attualmente Presidente dellAssociazione di Pedagogia Musicale e Musicoterapia Papageno.

Andrea Angelini - Artistic Director - Italy
Born in Bologna, Italy, Andrea Angelini began his piano
studies as a child, at the Rimini Lettimi School. He later earned
a Doctorate of Music at Ferraras Frescobaldi Conservatory. His
interests led him to the choral feld, and he earned a Bachelor
studying Liturgical Music at Modena and at the International
Art Academy in Rome with Fulvio Angius. He also studied
organ at Pesaros Conservatory of Music. Finally he got his
PHD in Choral Music at the Cesena Conservatoire of Music.
He is the Artistic Director and Conductor of the professional
group Musica Ficta Vocal Ensemble that frequently performs in
important Festivals in Italy and abroad. For many years, Andrea
Angelini has conducted concerts with the choir Carla Amori,
in Italy and abroad. He has also conducted the Lithuanian
Jauna Muzika Choir, the Belarusian State Choir, the Latvian
Ave Sol and the Tudor Consort from New Zealand. He is the
Artistic Director and member of the Jury of the international
organ competition, Marcello Galanti. He has been member of
the Jury at many International Choirs Competitions in Italy,
Europe and Asia. He frequently leads choral workshops in
Italy and abroad. Recently his Masterclass about the Venetian
Renaissance choral music has been presented to the students of the prestigious Liszt Music Academy of
Budapest and in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) for the Young Choral Academy. He is the artistic director and one
of the tutors at the Rimini International Choral Workshop, where he teaches with Peter Phillips of the Tallis
Scholars. Mr. Angelini is also the artistic director of the Rimini International Choral Competition and of the
Liviu Borlan Choral Competition (Romania). His professional memberships include the Artistic Committee
of AERCO (Regional Association of Choirs), ACDA (American Choral Directors Association). He is a regular
reviewer for the press. He is the Chief Editor of the International Choral Bulletin (ICB), the membership
magazine of the IFCM (International Federation for Choral Music). He has written numerous transcriptions
and arrangements for choirs and chamber ensembles. His transcription of Faures Requiem is published by
Gelber Hund Verlag of Berlin, who are also publishers of a book of repertoire for organ and violin, edited
by Mr. Angelini. For the American CanticaNOVA Publication, he has prepared transcriptions of important
Renaissance Motets. He has published his composition with Eurarte and Ferrimontana.
Andrea Angelini ha iniziato presto lo studio del Pianoforte presso il Liceo Musicale Lettimi di Rimini per
diplomarsi poi presso il Conservatorio Frescobaldi di Ferrara. Ha studiato anche organo sostenendo gli
esami al Conservatorio di Pesaro. Dedicatosi contemporaneamente allattivit corale compie studi di Direzione
allAccademia Internazionale delle Arti di Roma ove si diploma con il M Fulvio Angius. Si perfezionato
in questa disciplina con Giovanni Acciai e con Peter Phillips dei Tallis Scholar allInternational School of
Oakham (Inghilterra). Ha conseguito il diploma in Direzione di Coro al Conservatorio di Cesena. E direttore
del Coro Polifonico Carla Amori di Rimini e dellEnsemble professionale Musica Ficta con i quali ha
diretto concerti in Italia e allestero. Ha collaborato, come direttore ospite, con il Coro Jauna Muzika a
Vilnius, con il Coro Ave Sol a Riga, con il Belarus State Choir e con il Coro Neozelandese Te Tudor
Consort. E ideatore, Direttore Artistico e membro della Giuria del Concorso Organistico Internazionale
Marcello Galanti di Mondaino. E stato membro della giuria di numerosi Concorsi Internazionali Corali
e di Organo. E spesso chiamato a tenere corsi di musica corale antica presso prestigiose istituzioni estere.
E direttore artistico e docente dei Corsi Internazionali per direttori di Coro organizzati dallAssociazione
Musicale Musica Ficta ove insegna con Peter Phillips (Te Tallis Scholars). Ha pubblicato trascrizioni per le

Te Rimini International Competition includes fve normal Classes (A, B, C, D, E) and a special Class (X). Te same
competing Group may participate in all the fve normal Classes, if it wishes.
A - Equal VoicesChoirs (Male or Female)
B - Mixed Voice
C - Children and Young Choirs (Male, Female and Mixed. Singers maximum age is 20 years old. It is accepted that not more
than 10% of the singers may have more than 20 years but anyway no more than 24 years. Te Organizers reserve the right to

of the performed pieces excluding applause and going onto or leaving the stage) Te choir must sing at least 2 pieces a

CLASS D: Te programme choice for Class D, is lef to each ensemble, but it must include four works, as follow:
a programme including choral arrangements of folk and traditional songs from the choirs native country OR spirituals
and gospels.
An Italian or English translation of the lyrics or a summary of each score must be sent. Te use of idiophonic or ethno-
musicologically or historically justifed instruments is allowed. Te combination of (stylistically justifable) choreographic
movements together with singing is also permitted and desirable. Tis may deserve special merits. Te total duration of
performed repertoire must be between 8 and 12 minutes of pure singing time (it is the duration of the performed pieces
excluding applause and going onto or leaving the stage)
CLASS E (Sacred Music): Te programme choice, for Class E is lef to each ensemble, but it must include four works, as
follow:
a) One piece by a composer of the Renaissance, Baroque or Classical period. Te Jury will evaluate especially fdelity to
