Cari amici,

è con grande piacere che mi avvio a curare l’organizzazione della sedicesima edizione del
Festival e Concorso Corale Internazionale di Rimini che si svolgerà dal 15 al 18 settembre
2022.

L’anno scorso, inutile dirlo, è stato segnato dalla tragedia del coronavirus che non ha reso
possibili tanti eventi in presenza, tra cui il nostro Concorso. Abbiamo pensato che sarebbe
stato molto triste rinunciarvi completamente, così abbiamo organizzato un’edizione virtuale.
Quest’anno, visto il miglioramento della situazione sanitaria, abbiamo deciso che sarebbe
stato il momento di tornare al Concorso in presenza.

Il Festival e Concorso Corale Internazionale di Rimini non ha solo lo scopo di mettere in

competizione le formazioni corali, ma anche di presentare al pubblico le caratteristiche e la
diversità di ogni gruppo e repertorio.

Sono desideroso di incontrarvi, finalmente di presenza, per celebrare un momento di musica

e di amicizia. Benvenuti a Rimini, capitale di ospitalità e cultura!

Dear friends,

it is with great pleasure that I am going to take care of the organisation of the sixteenth edition
of the Rimini International Choral Festival and Competition which will take place from 15 to 18
September 2022.

Last year, needless to say, has been marked by the tragedy of the corona-virus that has not
made possible so many events in attendance, including our Competition. We thought it would
be very sad to give it up completely, so we organised a virtual edition. This year, because of the
improvement in the health situation, we have decided that it is time to return to the competition
in presence.

The Rimini International Choral Festival and Competition not merely aims to put choral ensembles
in competition, but also to present to the public the characteristics and diversity of each group
and repertoire.

I look forward to meeting you, finally in presence, to celebrate a moment of music and friendship.

Nato a Bologna, Andrea Angelini si trasferisce da bambino a Rimini dove intraprende lo studio
del pianoforte presso l’Istituto di Alta Formazione Artistica e Musicale ‘G. Lettimi’. Parallelamente
inizia la sua esperienza come cantore e, in seguito, come direttore del Coro Polifonico Carla Amori.
Consegue il Diploma Accademico in Pianoforte al Conservatorio di Ferrara. Nel frattempo, studia
anche Organo al Conservatorio di Pesaro, Composizione e Direzione di Coro con Fulvio Angius, Peter
Phillips, Michele Peguri e Leonardo Lollini presso l’Accademia delle Arti di Roma, la Scuola di Oakham
(UK) e i Conservatori di Adria e Cesena. Presso quest’ultimo Conservatorio consegue il Diploma
Accademico di secondo livello in Musica Corale e Direzione di Coro. Andrea è fondatore e direttore
artistico dell’Associazione Musicale Musica Ficta che opera dal 2000 in Italia e all’estero. All’interno
di questa Associazione fonda e dirige l’Ensemble Vocale Musicaficta con il quale esegue concerti in
Italia, Israele e Stati Uniti d’America. Con il Coro Polifonico Carla Amori ha diretto oltre 200 concerti
in Italia, Inghilterra, Germania, Svezia, Polonia, Ungheria e Francia. Vincitore del concorso indetto da
IFCM nel 2009 diventa Direttore Responsabile della Rivista Corale ICB (International Choral Bulletin),
posizione che mantiene sino al 2020. Durante l’esperienza maturata all’interno dell’International
Federation of Choral Music ha l’opportunità di partecipare a Simposi e Meeting corali in tutto il mondo,
conducendo corsi e workshop durante i maggiori convegni corali internazionali. Precedentemente è
stato Direttore Responsabile di FarCoro, la Rivista Corale di AERCO e tuttora è Direttore Responsabile
di DIRIGO, la Rivista dell’Associazione Nazionale Direttori di Coro Italiani di cui è anche membro
del Comitato Scientifico. Andrea Angelini è direttore di alcuni Festival e Concorsi Corali tra i quali
il Rimini International Choral Competition (Rimini, Italia), il Claudio Monteverdi International Choral
Festival (Venezia, Italia), il Queen of the Adriatic Sea Choral Festival and Competition (Cattolica, Italia),
il Liviu Borlan Choral Festival (Baia Mare, Romania), il Romano Gandolfi International Competition
for Choral Conductors (Parma, Italia), il Concorso Corale Nazionale Giuseppe Savani (Carpi, Italia).
È chiamato continuamente come membro di giuria a concorsi di esecuzione corale e per direttori
di coro in Italia e nel mondo (Europa, Russia, Giappone, Cina, Corea, Indonesia, Malesia, Stati Uniti
d’America). Ha condotto masterclass corali presso Istituzioni pubbliche (Conservatori di Mosca, Minsk,
Budapest, Seoul, Timisoara, Praga) e private. Ha scritto numerose trascrizioni e arrangiamenti per
coro. La sua trascrizione del Requiem di Faure è pubblicata dalla Gelber Hund Verlag di Berlino. Per la
pubblicazione americana CanticaNOVA ha preparato trascrizioni di importanti mottetti rinascimentali.
Ha pubblicato le sue composizioni con Eurarte e Ferrimontana. In campo educativo è molto attivo
sia come docente (insegna Direzione di Coro per Didattica della Musica al Conservatorio Cesare
Pollini di Padova) che come direttore artistico dell’AERCO Academy e dei Corsi Internazionali di Rimini.
Dal 2015 è Presidente di AERCO, l’Associazione Emiliano-Romagnola Cori. È stato rappresentante
per l’Italia al World Choral Council mentre per i suoi meriti in campo corale è membro onorario di
ACDA (American Choral Directors Association) e dell’Associazione Direttori di Coro della Croazia.
Born in Bologna, Andrea Angelini moved to Rimini as a child where he began studying piano at the ‘G. Lettimi’
Conservatoire of Music. At the same time, he began his experience as a singer and later as director of the
Carla Amori Polyphonic Choir. He obtained an Academic Diploma in Piano at the Ferrara Conservatory. In the
meantime, he also studied Organ at the Conservatory of Pesaro, Composition and Choir Conducting with Fulvio
Angius, Peter Phillips, Michele Peguri and Leonardo Lollini at the Academy of Arts in Rome, the Oakham School
(UK) and the Conservatories of Adria and Cesena.At the latter Conservatory he obtained a second level Master’s
Degree in Choral Music and Choir Direction. Andrea is the founder and artistic director of the Associazione
Musicale Musica Ficta, which has been operating since 2000 in Italy and abroad. Within this Association he
founded and conducts the Vocal Ensemble Musicaficta with which he performed concerts in Italy, Israel and the
United States of America. With the Carla Amori Polyphonic Choir, he has conducted over 200 concerts in Italy,
England, Germany, Sweden, Poland, Hungary and France. Winner of the IFCM competition in 2009, he became
Editor-in-Chief of the International Choral Bulletin (ICB), a position he will hold until 2020. During his experience
within the International Federation of Choral Music he has the opportunity to participate in Choral Symposia
and Meetings around the world, conducting courses and workshops at major international choral conferences.
He was previously Editor-in-Chief of FarCoro, AERCO’s choral magazine, and is still Editor-in-Chief of DIRIGO,
the magazine of the National Association of Italian Choral Conductors, of which he is also a member of the
Scientific Committee. Andrea Angelini is the Director of several Festivals and Choral Competitions including the
Rimini International Choral Competition (Rimini, Italy), the Claudio Monteverdi International Choral Festival
(Venice, Italy), the Queen of the Adriatic Sea Choral Festival and Competition (Cattolica, Italy), the Liviu Borlan
Choral Festival (Baia Mare, Romania), the Romano Gandolfi International Competition for Choral Conductors
(Parma, Italy), the Giuseppe Savani National Choral Competition (Carpi, Italy). He is continuously called upon
as a jury member at choral performance and choral conductor competitions in Italy and worldwide (Europe,
Russia, Japan, China, Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, USA). He has conducted choral masterclasses at public
(Conservatories of Moscow, Minsk, Budapest, Seoul, Timisoara, Prague) and private institutions. He has written
numerous transcriptions and arrangements for choir. His transcription of Faure’s Requiem is published by Gelber
Hund Verlag in Berlin. For the American publication CanticaNOVA, he also wrote transcriptions of important
Renaissance motets. He has published his compositions with Eurarte and Ferrimontana. In the educational
field, he is very active both as a teacher (he teaches Choir Direction for Music Education at the Cesare Pollini
Conservatory in Padua) and as artistic director of the AERCO Academy and the International Courses in
Rimini. Since 2015 he has been President of AERCO, the Associazione Emiliano-Romagnola Cori. He has been
Italy’s representative at the World Choral Council, while for his merits in the choral field he is an honorary
member of ACDA (American Choral Directors Association) and of the Choir Directors Association of Croatia.

Aldo Cicconofri si è diplomato in Canto (ramo didattico) ed in Musica corale e

Direzione di Coro presso il Conservatorio L. Cherubini di Firenze. Ha insegnato
nei Conservatori di Foggia e Perugia ed ha concluso la sua attività di Docente
presso il Conservatorio “G. Rossini” di Pesaro dove ha tenuto i Corsi di Esercitazioni
Corali, Prassi esecutiva (per il Biennio di Direzione di Coro), Formazione corale e
ha curato la preparazione del Coro di Voci bianche. Ha partecipato in qualità di
Membro della Commissione all’ultimo Concorso a Cattedre per i Conservatori
italiani e svolge da molti anni l’attività di Direttore di coro collaborando con diverse
formazioni (Coro dell’Università di Macerata, Coro Polifonico Città di Tolentino,
Ensemble Comedia Harmonica). È stato fondatore e presidente dell’A.R.CO.M.
(Associazione Regionale Cori Marchigiani), vicepresidente e componente della
Commissione artistica della FENIARCO (Federazione Nazionale Italiana delle
Associazioni Regionali Corali). È Presidente dell’Associazione Chorus Inside Marche
aderente alla Federcori Nazionale. Fondatore e Direttore artistico dell’Accademia
corale “Ottaviano Petrucci di Urbino e Direttore artistico dell’Associazione Giardino
delle voci di Pesaro. Tiene Corsi di direzione di coro e didattica musicale su invito
di istituzioni musicali ed è stato spesso invitato a ricoprire l’incarico di membro di
giuria in Concorsi Nazionali ed Internazionali di Canto Corale (Arezzo, Riva del
Garda, Vittorio Veneto, Praga, Foligno, Fermo). Ha tenuto Masterclass di Direzione
di Coro presso importanti università straniere (Vienna, Granada e Astana).
Aldo Cicconofri graduated in Singing (teaching branch) and in Choral Music and Choir
Direction at the L. Cherubini Conservatory in Florence. He taught at the Conservatories
of Foggia and Perugia and concluded his teaching activity at the Conservatorio “G.
Rossini” in Pesaro, where he held the courses of Choral Practices, Performance Practices
(for the Biennial Course of Choral Conducting), Choral Formation and supervised the
preparation of the Children’s Choir. He participated as a member of the Commission
at the last Competition for Italian Conservatories and has been working for many
years as a Choir Director collaborating with various formations (Choir of the University
of Macerata, Polyphonic Choir City of Tolentino, Ensemble Comedia Harmonica). He
was founder and president of A.R.CO.M. (Associazione Regionale Cori Marchigiani),
vice-president and member of the Artistic Commission of FENIARCO (Federazione
Nazionale Italiana delle Associazioni Regionali Corali). He is President of the Chorus
Inside Marche Association, a member of the National Federcori. Founder and Artistic
Director of the Choral Academy “Ottaviano Petrucci” in Urbino and Artistic Director of
the Association Giardino delle voci in Pesaro. He holds Choral Conducting and Music
Didactics Courses at the invitation of musical institutions and has often been invited
to serve as a jury member in National and International Choral Singing Competitions
(Arezzo, Riva del Garda, Vittorio Veneto, Praga, Foligno, Fermo). He has held Masterclasses

Johann van der Sandt ha ricevuto la sua istruzione formale universitaria e post-
universitaria presso l’Università di Pretoria. Ha inoltre proseguito gli studi di direzione
corale nei Paesi Bassi presso l’Institute of Choral Conductors training di Gorinchem
(Paesi Bassi). Nel corso della sua carriera è stato coinvolto in attività corali come
compositore, direttore, arrangiatore e giudice a livello nazionale e internazionale. Nella
sua veste di giudice, direttore di coro e docente, è molto ricercato. Johann ha diretto
numerosi cori; la sua esperienza spazia da cori di bambini a cori giovanili, cori di studenti
e cori di adulti. Il suo coro da camera per adulti Singkronies mira specificamente alla
registrazione, allo sviluppo e alla conservazione del Sudafrica. Il suo lavoro con la
Camerata dell’Università di Pretoria (un coro misto di studenti) è caratterizzato da
numerosi riconoscimenti. Sotto la sua guida, il Drakensberg Boys choir si è affermato
come uno dei migliori cori maschili a livello internazionale. Attualmente Johann è
professore di Educazione musicale presso l’Università di Bolzano, in Italia. In precedenza,
è stato professore di direzione corale presso l’Università di Pretoria e ha ricoperto

Johann van der Sandt received his formal undergraduate and post-graduate education at
the University of Pretoria. He also furthered his studies in Choral Conducting in the Netherlands
at the Institute of Choral Conductors training, Gorinchem (the Netherlands). He has been
involved in choral work as a composer, conductor, arranger and adjudicator on national as
well as international level throughout his career. In his capacity as adjudicator, conductor
and lecturer, he is well sought after. Johann has conducted numerous choirs; his experience
stretches wide, from working with Children’s Choirs toYouth Choirs, student’s choirs and Adult
choirs. His adult Chamber choir Singkronies specifically aimed at the recording, development
and preservation of South African. His work with the University of Pretoria Camerata (a
mixed student’s choir) is characterized by numerous accolades. Under his leadership, the
Drakensberg Boys choir established itself as one of the best boys’ choir internationally.
Currently Johann is professor in Music Education at the University of Bolzano, Italy. Before
that, he was professor in Choral Conducting at the University of Pretoria and served as the
conductor and the Director of Music at the Drakensberg Boys Choir School, South Africa. His
research interests are focused on the Multicultural Perspectives in Music Education, Social
Capital Benefits of Choral Singing,Youth/Children Choral Singing, Music education teachers.

 Teatro degli Atti

Il Teatro degli Atti è situato nel centro storico di Rimini, in via Cairoli 42, nel vasto
complesso edilizio dell’ex Convento degli Agostiniani, sorto a ridosso della chiesa
eretta intorno al 1069 e dedicata a S. Giovanni Evangelista ma che, concessa nel 1256
agli Eremitani di S. Agostino, divenne per tutti la chiesa di S. Agostino. Gli Agostiniani
ebbero tra l’altro la felice intuizione di affidare alla scuola pittorica locale l’esecuzione
di un ciclo di affreschi nella loro grande chiesa costruita ex novo, riconoscendo il
valore di quella che sarebbe stata definita e apprezzata in seguito come la “scuola
riminese del ‘300”. Giovanni da Rimini, considerato il caposcuola del ‘trecento
riminese’, abitava del resto proprio nella contrada di San Giovanni Evangelista cioè
di S. Agostino. L’ex convento degli Agostiniani, ricostruito in parte nel XVI secolo e
riedificato nuovamente dopo i danneggiamenti provocati dal terremoto del 1786
dall’Architetto cesenate Giuseppe Achilli, si caratterizza per le grandi dimensioni, la
sobrietà e l’equilibrio delle architetture e la presenza di grandi cortili. Il Teatro degli
Atti è stato inaugurato nel 2001 e prende il nome da Isotta degli Atti, amante e sposa
di Sigismondo Pandolfo Malatesta. Si tratta di un teatro moderno privo di sipario
con oltre 280 posti, tra platea e galleria. Le particolarità: la platea è mobile, non ha
posti fissi e può essere utilizzata anche come palco. Il palco a sua volta, può essere
prolungato verso la platea, in modo da consentire lo svolgimento dei più diversi
tipi di spettacoli adattandosi agli impieghi scenici diversi in un ambiente che, con
l’utilizzo di una pietra porosa e il legno di ciliegio, garantisce un’ottima resa acustica.
 The Atti Theatre

The Atti Theatre is located in the historic center of Rimini, in the vast building complex
of the former Agostinian Monastery, built near the church constructed around 1069
and dedicated to St. John the Evangelist but which, granted in 1256 to the Hermits
of St. Augustine, it became for all, the church of St. Augustine. Among other things, the
Augustinians had the happy intuition of entrusting the execution of a cycle of frescoes
in their great church built from scratch to the local pictorial school, recognizing the value
of what would later be and defined and appreciated as the “Rimini school of the 13th
Century “. Giovanni from Rimini, considered the leader of the 13th Century Rimini area,

 Chiesa dei Servi

Agli inizi del XIV secolo la famiglia Malatesta dona alcune proprietà all’interno della
città di Rimini ai Servi di Maria che vi costruiscono una prima cappella. Pochi anni
dopo i frati decidono di ampliare la propria chiesa costruendone una maggiore,
della quale oggi si può osservare il fianco lungo il Corso d’Augusto. La chiesa era
ad unica navata, all’interno si trovavano numerosi altari ed opere d’arte, la zona
absidale era caratterizzata da tre cappelle con quella centrale di dimensioni maggiori.
La cappella laterale destra era stata fatta costruire dalla nobile famiglia degli Agolanti,
alla quale si deve lo stemma in una lesena sul fianco della chiesa, della metà del
Trecento. Fra il 1774 e il 1777 la chiesa ed il convento vennero rinnovati su disegno
dell’architetto bolognese Gaetano Stegani (1678-1777); collaborò come stuccatore e
plasticista il riminese Antonio Trentanove. Nel 1798 l’Ordine dei Serviti fu soppresso
e il convento passò ai Domenicani che erano stati allontanati dal loro convento
di San Cataldo. I Domenicani vi portarono numerose opere d’arte appartenenti
alla loro precedente sede ma il loro ordine venne revocato nel 1799. Dal 1806
la chiesa è divenuta parrocchia di Santa Maria in Corte. Nel 1885 il parroco don
Ugo Maccolini istituì la Pia Opera del Rosario e grazie ai fondi raccolti con essa,
poté ricostruire la facciata della chiesa realizzata nel 1894 su disegno dell’ing.
Giuseppe Urbani (1861-1937), riedificare la parte superiore del campanile e
decorare l’interno della chiesa con dorature realizzate dal bolognese Luigi Samoggia.
 Church of Servi

At the beginning of the XIV century the Malatesta family donated some properties within
the city of Rimini to the Servants of Mary who built a first chapel. A few years later the
friars decided to expand their church by building a larger one, of which today you can see
the side along the main street, Corso d’Augusto. The church was a single nave, inside there
were numerous altars and works of art, the apse area was characterized by three chapels
with the central one of greater dimensions. The right side chapel had been built by the
noble family of the Agolanti, to whom we owe the coat of arms in a pilaster on the side
of the church, of the mid-fourteenth century. Between 1774 and 1777 the church and
the convent were renovated according to a design by the Bolognese architect Gaetano
Stegani (1678-1777); Antonio Trentanove worked as a plasterer and plasticist. In 1798
the Order of Servites was suppressed and the convent passed to the Dominicans who had
been transferred from their convent San Cataldo. The Dominicans brought many works of
art belonging to their previous headquarters but their order was revoked in 1799. Since
1806 the church has been a parish of Santa Maria in Corte. In 1885 the parish priest
Don Ugo Maccolini established the Pious Work of the Rosary and thanks to the funds
collected with it, he was able to reconstruct the façade of the church built in 1894 to a
design by Eng. Giuseppe Urbani (1861-1937), rebuild the upper part of the bell tower and
decorated the interior of the church with gilding made by Luigi Samoggia from Bologna.
 Chiesa di Sant’Agostino

Costruita nel XIII secolo, in stile romanico - gotico, rappresenta la più antica chiesa
di Rimini. Era dedicata a San Giovanni Evangelista ma, eretta dagli Eremitani di S.
Agostino fu sempre, per il popolo, la chiesa di S. Agostino. La prima nota storica
che si ha di questa chiesa è un atto di donazione del 1069. Si trattava allora di un
piccolo oratorio che fungeva da parrocchia con il titolo di S. Giovanni Evangelista.
Nel 1256 il piccolo edificio veniva affidato all’ordine dei frati Agostiniani. Con i
suoi 55 metri di altezza il campanile è il più alto della città e per molto tempo ha
assunto anche la funzione di faro per i marinai di Rimini. Su disegno di un architetto
veneziano fu eretto sulla cappella destra della chiesa che già era stata affrescata nei
primi decenni del ‘300. Esso termina con un’altissima cuspide piramidale. L’importanza
di S. Agostino è indiscutibile, basti pensare alla pittura riminese del ‘300 che si può
dire nata all’ombra del suo campanile. Giovanni da Rimini, infatti, considerato il
caposcuola del ‘trecento riminese’ abitava nella contrada di San Giovanni Evangelista
cioè di S. Agostino, e gli Agostiniani per primi affidarono a questa scuola l’esecuzione
degli affreschi della loro grande chiesa costruita ex novo. Gli affreschi della cappella
maggiore e di quella del campanile possono considerarsi la sola testimonianza rimasta
nella città di Rimini dell’attività della scuola giottesca. L’importanza eccezionale di
questa chiesa è dovuta in particolare agli affreschi venuti alla luce in seguito al
terremoto del 1916. Si tratta di un complesso di affreschi che rievocano scene della
vita del Santo e Il giudizio universale attribuibili al Maestro dell’Arengo. Quest’ultimo
affresco, restaurato e staccato dal sottotetto, venne collocato in principio nella
sala dell’Arengo, poi trasferito all’interno del museo della città (Via Tonini).
 Church of St. Agostino

This imposing church, built by the hermit Augustine monks at the end of the 13th century,
was a rectangular hall with a trussed roof.There was a large apse at one end with a chapel
at each side, one of which formed the base of the bell tower. The façade you see today is
the result of extensive eighteenth century intervention that also altered the appearance
of the interior. But the sides with their slender pilasters, the area of the apse and the lofty
bell tower constitute a worthy testimony of Gothic religious architecture in Rimini. Inside
the church, the apse and the 55 meters tall bell tower preserve the best evidence of the
Rimini art school, which constitutes one of the most important artistic movements of the
14th century in northern Italy. The surviving, early 14th century decorations consist of
various sequences of frescoes and a large wooden Crucifix.The 14th century frescoes were
concealed by later interventions until a violent earthquake in 1916 revealed their existence.
Not until 1926, however, it was possible to remove and restore the splendid Last Judgement
painted over the triumphal arch and now housed in the Civic Museum. The 18th century
reconstruction enriched the church with notable works of art among which the Baroque
plasterwork on the ceiling. Only a few traces remain of the large Convent that was built next
to the church and that is known to have housed an important Library and a famous Studio
with a college attached. It was incorporated into the eighteenth century structure, designed
by Giuseppe Achilli from Cesena, after the disastrous earthquake of 1786. Closed down
in 1798 at the passing of the French troops, the convent was characterised by its size, its
solemn architecture, the symmetry of its proportions and the presence of large courtyards.
 Museo della Città

Rimini è città di testimonianze millenarie e il Museo della Città racconta la sua identità
storica e culturale. Ospitato nel settecentesco Collegio dei Gesuiti e intitolato dal 2015
allo storico riminse Luigi Tonini, il Museo racchiude memorie civiche provenienti da
scavi, chiese ed edifici cittadini e importanti opere in deposito. Qui si snoda il racconto
del cammino dell’uomo nel territorio riminese dalla preistoria all’età contemporanea.
Un racconto lungo un milione di anni che inizia sulla spiaggia, dove l’uomo primitivo
scheggiava la selce, e che prosegue, fra archeologia e arte, proponendo straordinarie
unicità. Unico è il corredo di strumenti chirurgici di un medico vissuto nel III secolo,
così come rarissimo è il quadro in vetro (pinax) che ornava la sua domus. In
Pinacoteca sono esposti i capolavori della “Scuola Riminese”, una delle più importanti
realtà del Trecento, ispirata alla lezione di Giotto mentre, del periodo aureo della
signoria dei Malatesta, le tavole di artisti di grandissimo rilievo come Giovanni Bellini,
Domenico Ghirlandaio, Agostino di Duccio, Pisanello e Matteo de’ Pasti. Il Seicento
è rappresentato da straordinari dipinti, opera di maestri di rilevanza internazionale,
dall’esuberante Guido Cagnacci al più meditativo Centino, al Guercino, pittore di
grande sensibilità cromatica e Simone Cantarini. Uno spazio permanente è dedicato
alla grafica di Renè Gruau, protagonista internazionale nel campo dell’illustrazione
di moda. Un percorso che disegna i cambiamenti del volto della città fino allo
scorcio di piazza Cavour, ritratto da Filippo De Pisis nel suo soggiorno del 1940.
 The City Museum

Rimini is a city of millenary witnesses and the City Museum narrates its historical and
cultural identity. Housed in the eighteenth-century Jesuit College and named since 2015
after Rimini historian Luigi Tonini, the Museum contains civic memories from excavations,
churches and city buildings and important works in storage. Here the story of man’s
journey through the territory of Rimini from prehistory to the contemporary age unfolds. A
tale a million years long that begins on the beach, where primitive man chipped flint, and
continues, between archaeology and art, with extraordinary uniqueness. Unique is the set
of surgical instruments of a doctor who lived in the 3rd century, just as rare is the glass
painting (pinax) that adorned his domus. The Art Gallery exhibits the masterpieces of the
“Riminese School”, one of the most important schools of the 14th century, inspired by
Giotto’s teachings, while the golden age of the Malatesta seigniory is represented by the
paintings of such outstanding artists as Giovanni Bellini, Domenico Ghirlandaio, Agostino di
Duccio, Pisanello and Matteo de’ Pasti. The 17th century is represented by extraordinary
paintings by internationally renowned masters, from the exuberant Guido Cagnacci to the
more meditative Centino, to Guercino, a painter of great chromatic sensitivity, and Simone
Cantarini. A permanent space is dedicated to the graphics of Renè Gruau, an international
protagonist in the field of fashion illustration.An itinerary that traces the changes in the face of
the city up to the view of Piazza Cavour, portrayed by Filippo De Pisis during his stay in 1940.

Il coro misto universitario lettone Dziesmuvara è stato fondato nel 1925. Da allora è
stato uno dei principali cori universitari della Lettonia e ha tenuto concerti in Lettonia e
all’estero. A causa delle restrizioni e della censura introdotte dal regime sovietico negli anni
Quaranta, l’attività del Dziesmuvara in Lettonia fu sospesa. Il coro è rinato nel 2000 e da
allora è sempre stato attivo. Composto da studenti universitari e laureati entusiasti, il coro
si esibisce regolarmente in Lettonia, partecipa al rinomato Latvian Song and Dance Festival
e ha tenuto concerti all’estero in Paesi come Polonia, Repubblica Ceca, Germania, Francia e
altri. Dziesmuvara ha partecipato a concorsi internazionali quali il Prague Cantat (2013), il
Varsovia Cantat (2015) e il Silver Bells (2015 e 2017) ottenendo premi speciali e diplomi. Dal
2018, Dziesmuvara ha avviato un nuovo movimento di singalong, ChoirUp, che consiste in
eventi che riuniscono persone che desiderano cantare in un ambiente libero e senza vincoli.

Latvian University Mixed Choir Dziesmuvara was first established in 1925. Ever since, it has been
one of the leading University choirs in Latvia giving concerts in Latvia and abroad. Due to restrictions
and censorship that the Soviet Regime brought in the 1940s, Dziesmuvara’s activity in Latvia was put
on hold. The choir rebirthed in 2000 and has been active since. Consisting of enthusiastic university
students and graduates, the choir regularly performs in Latvia, takes part in the renowned Latvian
Song and Dance Festival and gives concerts abroad in countries such as Poland,The Czech Republic,
Germany, France and others. Dziesmuvara takes part in international competitions such as Prague
Cantat (2013), Varsovia Cantat (2015), and Silver Bells (2015 and 2017) earning special prizes
and diplomas. Since 2018, Dziesmuvara has initiated a new singalong movement ChoirUp, which
consists of events that bring together people who wish to sing in a free and unconstrained setting.

Il Coro Femminile Interscolastico della Scuola secondaria n. 3 di Bialystok è stato fondato

nell’ottobre 2004. Ha iniziato come coro misto e dopo due anni, nel settembre 2006, si
è stato trasformato in coro femminile. Il coro si esibisce non solo a Bialystok ma anche
nel resto del Paese. Inoltre, partecipa con successo a numerosi concorsi e festival musicali.
L’alta qualità del coro è stata ripetutamente riconosciuta e apprezzata sia dalle giurie dei
concorsi che si svolgono in Polonia, sia da quelle che hanno sede all’estero. Nel 2021
il coro ha vinto il Grand Prix, un premio speciale per la migliore esecuzione di un brano
scritto da un compositore di Poznań, premio speciale assegnato da una giuria informale i
cui membri erano studenti post-laurea di studi corali e pedagogia vocale dell’Accademia di
Musica Feliks Nowowiejski di Bydgoszcz, durante il concorso Stefan Stuligrosz, Grand Prix
of Polish Choral Music a Poznań. Il coro ispira molti compositori polacchi della generazione
più giovane a creare nuovi brani che vengono poi eseguiti in prima assoluta dal coro.

Interschool Female Choir at Secondary School no. 3 in Bialystok was founded in October, 2004.
It started out as a mixed choir and after two years, in September 2006, was transformed into a
female one. The choir performs not only in Bialystok but also in the rest of the country. Moreover,
it is a successful participant of numerous music contests and festivals. The choir’s high quality has
repeatedly been acknowledged and appreciated both by juries of competitions taking place in
Poland, as well as those based abroad. In 2021 the choir won the Grand Prix, a Special Prize for
the best performance of a piece written by a Poznań-based composer, a Special Prize granted by
the Informal Jury, the members of which were Postgraduate Students of Choral Studies and Vocal
Pedagogy from The Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz during the Stefan Stuligrosz
Grand Prix of Polish Choral Music competition in Poznań.The choir inspires many Polish composers of
the youngest generation to create new pieces that are later premiered and performed by the choir.

Nordisk Vokalensemble è un coro a voci pari fondato nel 2019 con sede a Randers,
Danimarca. Il coro ha esperienza soprattutto nel repertorio nordico più recente, come
suggerisce il nome, perché il coro si concentra in modo particolare su questo tipo di sonorità.
Il coro è composto da 18-20 cantanti, sia uomini che donne. I cantori maschi sono anche
impiegati per la sezione dei contralti, il che contribuisce a rendere il coro unico nel suo genere.
Il Nordisk Vokalensemble si esibisce sin dalla sua fondazione e ha registrato una selezione
di brani nell’autunno del 2020. Il coro è stato originariamente fondato da cantanti dell’ex
St. Peders Ungdomskor, che era diretto dal defunto Karsten Blond, organista della chiesa
di St. Peders a Randers. Blond ha creato una tradizione corale unica che vive nel Nordisk
Vokalensemble. Vibeke Bonde Persson è stata scelta come direttrice del coro nel 2019.
Ha conseguito il Master in pianoforte classico presso la Royal Academy of Music di Aarhus
nel 2016. Poco dopo ha iniziato a lavorare come organista e dal 2018 è direttrice di coro.

Nordisk Vokalensemble is an equal voices choir founded in 2019 and is based in Randers, Denmark.
The choir is mostly experienced in the newer Nordic repertoire, as the name suggests, because
the choir has as special focus on that kind of sound. The choir consists of 18-20 active female
and male singers. The male singers are placed in the alto section which contributes to the choir´s
unique sound. Nordisk Vokalensemble has been performing since its founding and recorded a
handful of works in the autumn of 2020. The choir was originally founded by singers from the
former Sct. Peders Ungdomskor, which was conducted by the late Karsten Blond, the organist of
Sct. Peders Church in Randers. Blond created a unique choral tradition that lives on in Nordisk
Vokalensemble. Vibeke Bonde Persson was chosen as the conductor for the choir in 2019. She
finished her Master´s degree in classical piano from The Royal Academy of Music, Aarhus, in 2016.
Shortly hereafter she started working as an organist, and has been a choir conductor since 2018.

Da Jersey, nelle Isole del Canale Britannico, i Musical Originals Singers eseguono un repertorio
classico contemporaneo e a cappella, che comprende musica composta appositamente per
voci giovani, ma che è comunque impegnativa e artisticamente gratificante. Il coro ha un’età
compresa tra i 10 e i 18 anni ed è aperto a tutti; l’unico requisito è l’amore per il canto di
alto livello e l’impegno a lavorare sodo. Sotto la guida della sua fondatrice e direttrice, Imogen
Nicholls, il coro ha ottenuto molti successi a livello internazionale negli ultimi dieci anni. Tra
questi, nel 2017, è stato finalista del concorso Let the Peoples Sing dell’Unione Europea di
Radiodiffusione a Helsinki e ha tenuto un concerto dal vivo alla BBC per celebrare questo
risultato. Questa è la quarta visita del Coro al Concorso Corale Internazionale di Rimini. Il
coro si esibisce regolarmente a Jersey, anche in occasione della commemorazione annuale
della liberazione dell’isola dall’occupazione bellica nel 1945 - la giornata nazionale di Jersey, il 9
maggio.Tutti i suoi membri sono orgogliosi di rappresentare oggi il loro piccolo Paese insulare.

From Jersey in the British Channel Islands, The Musical Originals Singers perform contemporary,
a cappella, classical repertoire, including music composed specifically for young voices but
which is nonetheless challenging and artistically rewarding. The Choir’s age range is 10 to
18 and is open to all, the only requirement being a love of singing to a high standard and a
commitment to hard work. Under its founder and conductor, Imogen Nicholls MBE, the Choir
has achieved much success internationally over the last decade. This includes, in 2017, being
finalists in the European Broadcasting Union’s Let the Peoples Sing competition at Helsinki
and giving a live BBC concert to mark that achievement. This is the Choir’s fourth visit to the
Rimini International Choral Competition. The Choir performs regularly in Jersey, including at the
annual commemoration of the Island’s liberation in 1945 from wartime occupation – Jersey’s
national day, 9 May. All its members are proud to be representing their small island country today.

Il Conservatorio di Musica e Ballo di Maribor è stato fondato nel 1945 e poco dopo fu
creato un coro femminile. Il coro è passato più volte da coro femminile a coro misto, ma
da quando è subentrato il giovane direttore Peter Novak Smolič, entrambi i cori coesistono.
In passato i cori hanno partecipato a numerose competizioni e hanno ricevuto numerosi
premi. Nel 2012, quando Maribor è diventata Capitale europea della cultura, oltre 100
studenti hanno eseguito un nuovo pezzo “Funerale alla Santa Croce” per orchestra sinfonica
e coro di Robert Kamplet, un compositore sloveno. Insieme all’Orchestra dell’Università
di Vilnius, hanno eseguito lo Stabat Mater di Rheinberger al ‘Lent International Summer
Festival’ di Maribor nel giugno 2019. Pochi mesi dopo, nel settembre 2019, hanno dato
un’altra memorabile esecuzione dei Carmina Burana di Carl Orff a Varaždin (Croazia)
e Maribor (Slovenia). Inoltre, durante il lock-down degli anni passati, il coro ha effettuato
importanti registrazioni virtuali, che sono state utilizzate in occasione di eventi culturali
degni di nota nel 2021, quando la Slovenia ha ricoperto la presidenza del Consiglio dell’UE.

The Conservatory of Music and Ballet Maribor was established in 1945. As one of the first
ensembles, a girls’ choir was created shortly afterward. The choir changed back and forth from
girls to a mixed choir multiple times but since the young conductor Peter Novak Smolic took
over, both choirs coexist. The choirs have competed a lot in the past and received numerous
awards. In 2012, when Maribor became the European Capital of Culture, over 100 students
performed a new piece »Funeral at the Holy Cross« for a symphonic orchestra and a choir by
Robert Kamplet, a Slovene composer. Together with the Orchestra of the University of Vilnius, they
performed Rheinberger’s Stabat Mater at the Lent International Summer Festival in Maribor in
June 2019. A few months later, in September 2019, they gave another memorable performance
of Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana in Varaždin (Croatia) and Maribor (Slovenia). Additionally, during
the lock-down in the past years, the choir made significant virtual recordings, which were used at
noteworthy cultural events in 2021, when Slovenia held the Presidency of the Council of the EU.
