 ATTENZIONE!
I riduttori a coppia conica CML Mastergear sono stati progettati per
il comando manuale o motorizzato di:
valvole / paratoia a vite saliente e non saliente.
I riduttori CML Mastergear possono essere sollecitati fino ai limiti
di coppia e spinta indicati nei ns. cataloghi secondo il criterio di se-
guito indicato valido per temperature ambiente –20°C/+80°C (-
4F/+176F).
Di seguito abbiamo rappresentato l’andamento tipico medio delle
spinte e delle coppie di una valvola nel diagramma 1 e l’andamento
delle spinte e delle coppie delle paratoie nel diagramma 2.
Nella selezione della grandezza del riduttore, tenere in considera-
zione questi criteri di dimensionamento.

Non applicare coppie torcenti superiori a quelle nominali indicate
sui nostri cataloghi tecnici.
I nostri riduttori conici non devono ricevere il colpo di martello ad
inizio di manovra apertura e chiusura (coppia di stallo dell'attua-
tore elettrico).
La massima velocita’ di rotazione ammessa all'albero di ingresso e’
di 160 giri al minuto.
ATTENZIONE!
• Azionare il volantino del riduttore con leve per aumentare la forza
di manovra.
• Rimuovere il riduttore dalla valvola con linea in pressione.
• Accoppiare un attuatore elettrico ad un riduttore motorizzabile
senza provvedere a regolare i finecorsa e i limitatori di coppia e
senza assicurarsi che il riduttore sia adatto a sopportare la cop-
pia di stallo dell’attuatore.
• Istallare i riduttori senza aver prima letto attentamente le se-
guenti istruzioni.
• NON SEGUIRE TUTTE LE ISTRUZIONI PUO’ PROVOCARE GRAVI PE-
RICOLI PER L’INCOLUMITA’ DELLE PERSONE!!
N.B. Eventuali limiti di applicazione diversi dai dati tecnici di cata-
logo, così come le istruzioni specifiche valide per le singole forni-
ture, sono da noi riportate nelle conferme d’ordine ai nostri Clienti.

WARNING!
CML Mastergear bevel gears are suitable for manual or motorizable
version of:
Valves and sluice gates with rising or no-rising threaded stems.
CML Masergear bevel gears can be stressed up to the nominal torque
and thrust as per our catalog and as the system below applicable
for temperature range – 4F / +176F (–20°C/+80°C).
In the diagram 1 we have simulated a medium typical valve charac-
teristic of the torque and thrust for the valves and in the diagram 2
the typical characteristic for the sluice gates.
For the selection of the bevel gear unit size, consider these criteria.

Not apply input torque over those shown on our technical catalo-
gue.
Our bevel gears must not receive shot of a hammerblow to start ope-
ning and closing operation.
Our bevel gears must not receive the hammerblow effect at the start
of opening and closing operation.
(stall torque of electric actuator).
Maximum inpuit speed allowed is 160 RPM.
WARNING!
• Do not use levers to increase the torque when opening or closing
the bevel gear handwheel.
• Do not remove the valve bevel gear when the line is under pres-
sure.
• Do not attach an electric actuator to a motor driven bevel gear wi-
thout adjusting the limit switches and the torque limit switch, and
without making sure that the bevel gear is suitably matched to
the actuator's stalling torque.
• Do not install the bevel gear before reading the following in-
structions carefully.
• FAILURE TO FOLLOW ALL THESE INSTRUCTIONS MAY PLACE OPE-
RATING PERSONNEL IN SERIOUS DANGER!!
N.B. Any application limits which differ from, or are additional to,
the technical information given in the catalog (such as information
concerning a specific order), will be given in the order confirmation.

 LUBRIFICAZIONE
I riduttori CML Mastergear vengono spediti completi di grasso a
vita; sarà tuttavia necessario, prima dell’istallazione, controllare ed
eventualmente aggiungere grasso nei punti di ingrassaggio posti in
corrispondenza di: pignone conico, ruota conica, base reggispinta e
dell’eventuale demoltiplicatore.
Per i riduttori tipo A sarà necessario ingrassare i cuscinetti reggi-
spinta prima del montaggio finale della chiocciola.
I riduttori e i demoltiplicatori sono lubrificati con grasso AGIP GR
MU/EP2, o equivalente, idoneo per temperature ambiente da -20
°C a +80 °C (grasso al litio con specifica additivazione per EXTREME
PRESSURE).
Per applicazioni diverse da quelle standard (basse temperature, alte
temperature, installazioni sottomarine, ecc.), che il Cliente avrà pre-
cisato al momento dell’ordine, i riduttori saranno forniti con lubri-
ficanti speciali le cui caratteristiche saranno riportate nella nostra
conferma d’ordine.
Le quantità di grasso AGIP GR MU/EP necessarie per i vari riduttori
e demoltiplicatori sono quelle sotto indicate:
LUBRICATION
CML Mastergear bevel gears are lubricated with grease when
shipped. Hawewer, it is advisable before installation to check the
level and add any grease required through the greasing inlets above
the pinion, the bevel gear wheel, out put flange - axial bearings, and
any spur gears.
For "A" type bevel gears, it is necessary to grease the thrust bearings
before finally assembling the stem nut.
Bevel and spur gears are lubricated with AGIP GR MU/EP2, or equiv-
alent grease, suitable for use within the -20 to +80°C range (lithium
based grease with a specific EXTREME PRESSURE additive).
For non-standard applications (e.g. low temperature, high tempera-
ture, underwater installations, etc.) which the customer has speci-
fied at the time of ordering, the bevel gears will be filled with special
lubricants and their characteristics will be given in our order con-
firmation.
The quantities of AGIP GR MU/EP1 required for the bevel gears and
spur gears, are given in the table below :

Prima di mettere in funzione riduttori rimasti immagazzinati per
oltre 3 mesi si consiglia di appoggiare i riduttori sulla base e di ese-
guire qualche manovra manualmente e non sotto carico al fine di
riassestare correttamente il lubrificante.
I riduttori CML Mastergear possono essere applicati in tutte le posi-
zioni purchè ciò sia stato precisato al momento dell’ordine per con-
sentire un’eventuale modifica del dosaggio e del tipo di lubrificante.

If bevel gears are stored for three months or more, we recommend
that they should be placed on their base and turned by hand with-
out any load until the lubricant is dispersed normally.
CML Mastergear bevel gears can be used in any position, pro-
vided that the positions are specified at the time of ordering.
This will enable us to change the type and quantity of lubricant,
as necessary.

 PROCEDURA DI INSTALLAZIONE
• Prima di procedere all’istallazione fare un’ispezione visiva al ri-
duttore per scoprire eventuali rotture o cricche causate dalla mo-
vimentazione e dal trasporto.
Per montare i riduttori conici sulle valvole o paratoie, seguire le
procedure di assemblaggio illustrate nella figura 3.
• Per la movimentazione e/o l’assemblaggio dei riduttori, utilizzare
gli appositi golfari di sollevamento come illustrato nella figura 4.
In ogni caso non potrà essere sollevata la valvola o qualsiasi altra
apparecchiatura collegata al riduttore, tramite il dispositivo di
sollevamento del riduttore e/o il riduttore stesso.
Tenere presente che:
• Durante la manovra di apertura e di chiusura, lo stelo della valvola
non deve generare carichi radiali.
Questi carichi radiali sono dannosi per il riduttore e non sosteni-
bili.
Il movimento assiale della stelo valvola/paratoia deve essere or-
togonale al piano valvola/base di fissaggio riduttore, con una tol-
leranza di +-0,5 mm.
• Lo stelo della valvola, i fori di fissaggio valvola riduttore e il cen-
traggio presenti sulla flangia valvola devono avere una concentri-
cità pari a +-0,2mm.
Riduttori tipo B (vedi Fig. 3, lato sinistro di pag.5)
Per eseguire la lavorazione della chiave smontare :
• l’anello elastico posto sulla chiave
• la chiave
• la guarnizione o-ring presente sulla chiave.
Dopo aver lavorato la chiave ,provvedere al rimontaggio .
fare attenzione a non danneggiare la guarnizione o-ring, rimontare
l’anelllo elastico sull’estermita’ della chiave (vedi Fig. 2).
INSTALLATION PROCEDURES
• Before installing the bevel gear, carry out a visual inspection to
ensure there are no cracks or breakages due to handling and
transport.
To assembling the bevel gears on the valves/sluice gate , follow
the asembly instructions described in the figure 3.
• To move and/or install our bevel gears, to use the lifting exes as
shown in Fig. 4. In any event, the valve or any other accessory
connected to the bevel gear, cannot be lifted using the bevel gear
lifting exes or through the bevel gear itself.
Remember that:
• During the opening and closing valve, the stem nut must not
generate a radial loads.
These radials loads are dangerous: the bevel gear, in standard
configuration, is not suitable to support these types of load.
The axial movement of stem valve/sluice gate must be orthogonal
compared to the valve flange/bevel gear base with a tolerance of
+- 0.5 mm
• Top mounting flange: stem valve, fixing holes and recess centering
must be a concentric: max 0,2 mm.

To machining the drive bush , remove the following components :
• elasting ring placed at the top of the drive bush
• the drive bush .
• the o-ring on the drive bush
When machining of drive bush is completed,re-assemble the com-
ponents .
Take care not damage the o-ring seal;
reassemble the drive bush with o-ring into the bevel gear;
replace the elastic ring (see Fig. 2).

ATTENZIONE:
1. Questa versione è in grado di trasmettere solo una coppia torcente.
2. Non sono ammesse spinte assiali: utilizzare riduttore conico versione ISO “A”.
3. Non sono ammessi carichi radiali: per queste applicazioni sono previste applicazioni speciali.
4. La bussola è sostenuta assialmente da un anello elastico.
E’ necessario rimuoverlo: pre disassemblare la chiave.

Riduttori tipo A (vedi Fig. 3, lato destro di pag.5)
• Per eseguire la lavorazione della chiocciola smontare:
I due grani filettati antirotazione posti nella ghiera.
La ghiera reggispinta filettata: svitare con rotazione antioraria.
I due cuscinetti reggispinta assiali completo di ralle.
La chiocciola.
La guarnizione o-ring presente sulla chiocciola.
Dopo aver lavorato la chiocciola, provvedere al rimontaggio.
Fare attenzione a non danneggiare la guarnizione o-ring.
Pulire bene le ralle e i cuscinetti reggispinta e lubrificare con grasso.
Rimontare la ghiera filettata, con rotazione oraria.
Avvitare completamente la ghiera fino ad arrivare in appoggio sui
cuscinetti e poi ruotare in senso antiorario per circa mezzo giro al
fine di lasciare un gioco assiale tra base reggispinta - cuscinetti -
flangia chiocciola - ghiera filettata, di almeno 0,2 mm.: dopo que-
sta rotazione antioraria, verificare la sporgenza della ghiera
filettata dal piano appoggio riduttore: vedi dimensione C2 della
tabella sotto.

Nel rimontaggio del gruppo reggispinta nel riduttore, prestare la
massima attenzione per non danneggiare le ralle dei cuscinetti reg-
gispinta.
• Per i riduttori motorizzabili al momento di applicare l’attuatore
elettrico, controllare la profondità della sede sull’attuatore e la
lunghezza dell’albero riduttore per evitare di forzare il pignone
verso l’interno e di danneggiare il cuscinetto del supporto radiale.
• Per la messa in opera e in servizio di riduttori motorizzati con at-
tuatori, dovranno essere seguite oltre alle istruzioni del presente
manuale, tutte le indicazioni riportate nell’apposito “ libro istru-
zioni “ dell’attuatore.
I riduttori CML Mastergear sono costruiti per applicazioni su val-
vole, paratoie, serrande, in versione per comando manuale o in ver-
sione per comando motorizzato con attuatore o provvisto di
comando manuale di emergenza.
Per applicazioni diverse da quelle sopra indicate, se non espressa-
mente approvate per iscritto nella nostra conferma d’ordine, CML
Mastergears si ritiene sollevata da qualsiasi responsabilità. In par-
ticolare è responsabilità del Cliente e/o utilizzatore dei riduttori far
rispettare tutte le norme di sicurezza in rigore predisponendo i ne-
cessari dispositivi e istruendo il personale preposto alla manovra
e/o alla manutenzione dei riduttori.

Bevel gears type A (see Fig. 3, right side of page 5)
• To machining the stem nut, remove the following components:
The two antirotation screws placed in the threaded thrust ring;
the threaded thrust ring: unscrew with anticlockwise rotation.
Two axial thrust bearings with washers; stem nut; o-ring on stem
nut.
When machining of stem nut is completed, re-assemble the com-
ponents .
Take care not damage the o-ring seal.
Clean the axial thrust bearings and grease them; reassemble the
threaded thrust ring, with clockwise rotation: screw it up to get
there in backed of bearings an then turn counterclocckwise for
about half turn in order to leave a space between "output flange-
bearings-threaded ring", at least 0,2 mm.: after this anticlockwise
rotation, check projection of threaded ring from of output flange.
(see dimension C2 in the below table) .

Reassemble the axial thrust unit into the gear and be careful not to
damage the axial thrust bearing and washers.
When the electrical actuators are assembled onto motorisable bevel
gears, check the depth of the actuator seat and the length of the
bevel gear shaft to ensure that the pinion will not be forced inwards,
damaging the radial support bearing.
• To install and use motorised bevel gears with electric actuators, in
addition to the instructions given in this manual, those in the
electric actuator "instruction book" must be followed. CML Ma-
stergear bevel gears can be applied to valves, sluice gates and air
lock, in the following versions : manual, motorised with actua-
tors, or those fitted with an emergency manual control.
If the bevel gear is fitted to any other item, unless approved in wri-
ting in our order confirmation, CML Mastergear will not take any re-
sponsibility whatsoever, for any consequent injuries to persons or
damage to things. It is the customer's or user's responsibility to en-
sure that all the current safety regulations are observed; and it is
his responsibility to provide the necessary training and equipment,
for the personnel required to use and maintain the bevel gears.

 MANUTENZIONE PERIODICA
Dopo che i riduttori saranno stati istallati sugli impianti, si sugge-
risce una ispezione visiva non inferiore a due volte per anno e di
provvedere a quanto segue :
• Eseguire una manovra completa di apertura e chiusura
• Ripristinare il grasso lubrificante
• Serrare le viti di fissaggio alla valvola
• Serrare le viti esterne del riduttore e quelle di attacco ad un even-
tuale attuatore elettrico o del volantino
• Verificare l’usura della chiocciola
• Verificare il serraggio del copristelo e dei tappi di lubrificazione
SPECIFICHE AMBIENTALI
I riduttori CML Mastergear sono costruiti secondo differenti speci-
fiche. I riduttori standard sono con protezione stagna solo se con
copristeli correttamente montati.
I riduttori conici tipo “H” sono provvisti di un copristelo flangiato.
Questa flangia e’ fissata al riduttore con viti .
La tenuta stagna ,waterproof , e’ garantita dalla presenza di una
guarnizione o-ring : vedi figura 4.
Durante il montaggio del copristelo flangiato, fare attenzione a non
danneggiare la guarnizione o-ring.
Se il cliente ordina solo la flangia e deve eseguire la saldatura del
tubo di protezione stelo valvola/paratoia, deve garantire che la sal-
datura sia eseguita correttamente e che non ci irregolarita’ tali da
causare trafilamenti .
CML Mastergear si ritiene sollevata da qualsiasi responsabilita’ le-
gate ad un non corretto accoppiamento tra flangia e tubo che puo’
compromettere la tenuta stagna.
Per i riduttori ordinati con copristelo CSI (con indicatore di posi-
zione), dovrà essere predisposto un foro M10 profondo 25mm sulla
parte superiore dello stelo della valvola. Detta predisposizione sarà
a cura del Cliente.

ROUTINE MAINTENANCE
When the bevel gears have been installed, we suggest that they
should be checked visually at least twice a year and the following
operations be carried out:
• Carry out a complete opening and closing operation;
• Make sure grease amount is adequate;
• Tighten the bolts holding it to the valve;
• Tighten the external bevel gear bolts, those attaching any electri-
cal actuator, and those of the hand-wheel;
• Check the stem nut for any signs of wear;
• Check the tightness of the shaft cover and the lubrication points.
ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIFICATIONS
CML Mastergear bevel gears have several different specifications.
The standard bevel gears only have sealed protection if the stem
protection is correctly assembled.
The bevel gears “H” type are equipped with a flanged stem covers.
This flange is fixed at the top of the bevel gear with screws.
The sealed, waterproof, is guaranteed by a seal o-ring: see figure 4.
During the stem cover assembly , be careful not damage the seal o-
ring: apply grease to facilitate this mating.
If the customer order just the stem flange and has to performe the
welding of stem valve/sluice gate tube protection, he must ensure
that the welding is done properly on whole circumference of tube ,
in order to prevent leakage.
CML Mastergear is not responsible for improper coupling between
stem cover flange and the tube.
The bevel gears ordered with a CSI shaft cover (with a position in-
dicator), must have an M10 hole 25 mm. deep on the upper part of
the valve stem. This is to be made by the customer.

Nel caso di danneggiamento del riduttore tale da rendere necessa-
ria la sostituzione di componenti, per la fornitura delle parti di ri-
cambio è opportuno che il Cliente comunichi i riferimenti della
fornitura (n° ordine cliente ) in modo da individuare correttamente
i componenti da fornire. Per le migliorie del prodotto alcuni com-
ponenti possono essere stati modificati nel tempo. Le tabelle dei
componenti possono venir fornite su richiesta.
SPARE PARTS
If the bevel gear is damaged and needs components to be replaced,
the customer needs to give us the order number, so that the part
required can be correctly identified (from time to time components
may be modified to improve the product).The components' list will
be supplied on request.

IMMAGAZZINAGGIO
I riduttori vengono spediti verniciati con una semplice mano di Pri-
mer idoneo solo nelle condizioni di stoccaggio protetto.
Prima di essere utilizzati all’aperto i riduttori dovranno essere sot-
toposti ad un adeguato ciclo di verniciatura finale.
I riduttori e demoltiplicatori CML Mastergear nella versione standard
non possono essere depositati all’aperto se non che adeguatamente
protetti contro l’umidità.
STORAGE
Ihe bevel gears are shipped with a primer coating only. This is only
adequate to prevent corrosion under protected storage conditions.
Before using the units outdoors, they must be given an adequate
paint protection.
The standard versions of CML Mastergear bevel gears and spur gears
must not be stored outdoors, unless they are adequately protected
from moisture.
