3. TEST INSTRUMENTATION AND DEVICES

3.1 TEST INSTRUMENTATION

The test instruments listed on TABLE.1 can be used to perform FAT test procedures. They may or may not be
required; by the way the use of other suitable instruments is acceptable. The type, model and serial numbers of
all instruments used during the FAT are to be recorded in the appropriate table/s. For each test instrument that
will be used during the Factory Acceptance Test date of calibration and validity period shall be recorded in
accordance with the requirements and guidelines of ISO9001:2008 certification.

3.2 TEST BENCH

During the test the Central Unit will be installed in its final configuration. At least no. 3 Operative Positions devices
will be set-up during the test period. On these 3 Test Operative Positions any other system’s console equipment
and the whole spare part supply can be tested. All the position’s performance checks will be carried out on the
test position(s).

All the interfaces and units (spare parts included) have already tested by SITTI during the internal test activities.
During the FAT test bench could be equipped to test any interface, on Customer’s request.

4. SYSTEM COMPOSITION INSPECTION

The "System Unit Summary" identifies the composition of the supplied equipment providing a basis for the
verification of such equipment. Reference should be made to the system documentation showing the Central
Unit racks composition and console equipment layout.

5. VISUAL INSPECTION

A sample visual inspection can be performed to verify that the system units and sub-assembly are manufactured
in accordance to “State of the Art” practices and standards. Visual inspection during the FAT testing shall relate
to the "installed" system aspects, and permits to verify:

 mechanical working;
 varnishing and paint status;
 board and modules realisation;
 labelling and marking.

2
CE16084.ATP/A-FAT Rev.1
Factory Acceptance Test Procedures

6. GENERAL TEST CRITERIA

6.1 PROCEDURES FOR SYSTEM ACCEPTANCE

The system will be deemed to be accepted if recorded test results match with the "expected results" listed in the
various Procedural and Technical tests tables. Test results can be recorded in the appropriate Test Data Record
“T.D.R. Opn” tables.
All the interfaces and units (spare parts included) have already tested by SITTI during the internal test activities.
During the FAT each module/interface can be tested according to Customer’s request.

6.2 APPLICABLE DOCUMENTATION

The documents listed in previous Chap. 2 have to be used for the test procedure as and where applicable.
For any functional procedure or any technical value that is not well defined within these documents, and for any
item of not clear interpretation the information contained within the present documentation will prevail.

6.3 TEST TABLES ORGANISATION

The FAT Procedures are arranged in tables defining the particular test and the expected result. The tables differ
in accordance to the particular type of test and equipment under test.

 OPn type (n= progressive number)

These tables define the practical tests to be performed on all or on selected Operative Positions,
equipment and relevant sub-units. Each of the relevant test procedures appropriate to the Operative
Position equipment detailed in each of the "Pn" (Functional Test Procedure) and "Tn" (TechnicalTest
Procedure) test tables.

 S type
This table defines the system start up test procedure. The table is be “tick” in the appropriate column
space marked with “Chk” upon the successful completion of each test step.

 Pn type (n = progressive number)

These tables establish the test procedures for the various VCS system functional verifications. It is
assumed that each test will be referenced to an Operative Position and/or to a Line Interface. Each Pn
table is to be tick within the "Chk" column as a reference to be used when completing the TDR (OPn
Table). Selective testing is appropriate in this instance as much of the testing is repetitive and is
dependent on the firmware fitted within each sub-unit. As this firmware is identical the operation of each
and every position shall be identical hence a sample test is appropriate.

Accordingly the following principles can be adopted:

 for any tests related to any Operative Positions, it can be demonstrated and assumed that one
external interface operation can be utilised for testing purposes;
 for any tests related to an external interface (radio or Telephone), it can be demonstrated and
assumed that one Operative Position can be utilised for testing purposes.

 Tn type (n = progressive number)

These tables establish the procedures related to the technical testing and “as installed” settings of the
VCS system. Each test shall be referenced to a particular Operative Position (usually the maintenance
position due to it's closeness to the Central Unit equipment). Each Tn table can be completed with the
measured level marked inside the "Chk" column as a reference to be utilised in the completion of the
TDR (OPn Table).

Factory Acceptance Test Procedures

6.4 TEST OPERATIONS

All the interfaces and units (spare parts included) have been already tested by SITTI during the internal test
activities.

During the Factory Acceptance Test each module/interface can be tested according to Customer’s request.

Being a Factory Acceptance Test, Functional and Technical checks can be done by substituting the telephone
lines and the radio channels by appropriate simulators.

6.4.1 ENVIRONMENTAL TEST CONDITIONS

The Environmental test conditions are indicated on next Tab.2. Being the typical laboratory conditions, and due
to the very wide range allowed, no special checks are performed, unless the Customer does require specifically
their performing.

6.4.2 TEST INSTRUMENTS

Please refer to Tab.1 for the suggested test instruments list. Depending on Customer request or on unexpected
events any other equivalent instrument may be used to perform the test. In this case the list will be appropriately
corrected.

6.4.3 TEST DATA REPORT FILLING IN PROCEDURES

The test results will be recorded on the T.D.R. OPn Tables. Each of them refers to a testing table (Pn or Tn type)
where all the test procedure steps and the expected results are listed and properly described.

The tests will be carried out according to the following criteria:

Interfaces tests:

One test for each different line type will be done, assuming the default configuration as work base. Other
tests can be executed on the remaining on Customer request.

Position tests:

Test of the installed Operative Positions.

The results will be recorded on the relevant tables. Other positions can be tested, moving the
supplied (spare part included) boards to empty sockets (if present), on Customer request.

Any further subsystem testing Data Record will be recorded on the T.D.R. SUB (Subsystem) Table.

4

Factory Acceptance Test Procedures

6.4.4 TEST REPETITION

The test not passed will be recorded with indication of the parts to be tested again.

In case of discrepancies or minor troubles they can be eliminated without a particular test rejection.

6.4.5 SUGGESTED TEST PLAN

The present documentation is already organised to drive the people in charge of the test execution. As already
said, the test bench is organised to have three or four Operative Positions (this number can be increased during
the P.D.I. on customer request).
