nuale.
diverso (CST, DCTC, ecc.), fare riferimento a quanto indicato nelle relative Appendici.

I 2 SOFTWARE WINKRATOS™

519847 - 210410
4
Supporto multilingua
Winkratos™ versione 4.xx supporta: Italiano, Inglese, Francese, Tedesco e Spagnolo (camere standard).
operare e le eventuali attivazioni (contatti ON/OFF) da gestire.
anticipo rispetto all’effettiva esecuzione.
Test design
MAX VELOCITÀ, RAMPA CONTROLLATA, MANTENIMENTO disponibili in modalità standard.
5 519847 - 210410
Attivazione di contatti ON/OFF
Winkratos™ permette di definire lo stato ON/OFF di un max di 16 contatti organizzati in due gruppi: dedicati (8
mento in modo programma.
In particolare è disponibile:

Acquisizione dati: stampa grafica
Pertanto:
• tenete il vostro PC libero da qualsiasi software rimuovendo i programmi non utilizzati;
• disabilitate lo “screen saver”;

• Terminologia
teriali sottoposti a test (DUT o EUT dal termine inglese Device Under Test o Equipement Under Test). A tale scopo
- definire un diagramma con il profilo che si vuole avere per tutti i canali;
- inserire il valore di setpoint nei segmento e definire in quale maniera si vuole raggiungere tale valore;
- definire lo stato logico delle attivazioni per ogni segmento;
più avanti);
segmento, ecc.
(gradiente).
• Gradiente
Velocità con cui viene eseguito un segmento. Viene espresso come rapporto fra l’unità di misura e il tempo (°C/min.;
RH%/min; ecc.).
519847 - 210410
12
• Set-point
• Flag
Variabili di programma che possono assumere solo due valori o due stati diversi (per esempio: 0 o 1; ON o OFF).
• Attesa durata
amente.
• Controllo
- ON: controlla il canale relativo (temperatura, umidità, ecc.).
- OFF: non controlla il canale relativo (temperatura, umidità, ecc.).
• Massima velocità
- ON: il valore impostato (SET POINT) viene raggiunto alla massima velocità possibile.
- OFF: il programma tiene conto del gradiente impostato.
• Attesa set-point
point” sia attivo (ON).
• Ripetizioni

te.
Tipo segmento Flag Controllo Flag Max velocità Flag Attesa set Flag Attesa durata
MAX VELOCITA’ ON ON ON OFF
MANTENIMENTO ON OFF OFF ON
RAMPA CONTR. ON OFF OFF ON
Tipo segmento Flag Controllo Flag Max velocità Flag Attesa set Flag Attesa durata
MAX VELOCITA’ ON ON ON ON
tipo:
Tipo segmento Flag Controllo Flag Max velocità Flag Attesa set Flag Attesa durata
RAMPA CONTR. ON OFF OFF ON
tempo:
Tipo segmento Flag Controllo Flag Max velocità Flag Attesa set Flag Attesa durata
RAMPA CONTR. ON OFF ON ON

I 6 WINKRATOS™: FUNZIONAMENTO BASE

I 16 GESTIONE ARCHIVIO REGISTRAZIONI

È possibile spostarsi su ognuna della camere presenti nella lista usando i tasti UP e DOWN.

(tramite mouse o pulsanti UP e DOWN).
17.4
WK332I090

o programma, comunicazione, registrazione e allarme).

4
(ad esempio dopo 45 minuti) e viene genera-
to un allarme.
3
La camera non viene controllata pertanto dal
punto 2 al 3 tenderà a raggiungere la tempe-
ratura ambiente.
3 In questo punto viene rimosso l’allarme e 1 2 5

I 21 GESTIONE DATI
NOTE GENERALI
3.
@CONCATENATE(A1; “ “; B1)
La for-

1) avvio del test da camera fredda e permanenza per un certo tempo nella stessa;
2) passaggio in camera ambiente e permanenza nella stessa per un certo tempo;
3) passaggio in camera calda e permanenza nella stessa per un certo tempo;
modificato rispetto a quello standard:

When a temperature gradient (Centigrade per minute) is set, it is inadvisable to set a humidity gradient
at the same time. The two grades interfere with each other and whereas the temperature gradient is reco-
gnised, the humidity gradient would not be.
The humidity gradient should, therefore, be set only when there is a constant temperature.
We advise you to refer to the MOLLIER diagram in order to establish the logical order in which to carry
out temperature and humidity grades during the test.
This handbook is to be used for the Winkratos™ version only. Winkra- AMBIENT SPECIFICATIONS

cifications of the chamber. Relative humidity RH max 80%
• This WINKRATOS™ version requires a Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista or later operating system.
In order to use the Windows system please refer to the specific instruction handbook.
• WINKRATOS™ activities take advantage of Windows specifications: all the work with Winkratos™ is done using
virtual graphic pages and instruments which make operations easy and obvious.
• This handbook should be considered an integral part of the machine.
• This manual describes how the Winkratos™ software operates for standard chambers; for different types of cham-
bers (CST, DCTC, etc.), refer to that indicated in following and in the Appendixes.
• Always make backup copies of any important programmes and test profiles so that data is not lost accidentally.
• The PC must be connected to a mains socket. It must not be connected to the socket on the chamber itself, other-
wise when the main switch on the machine is switched off, the computer will also be switched off while Windows is
still running.
IMPORTANT! The normal Windows closure procedure should be carried out before switching off the
machine.

GB 2 WINKRATOS™ SOFTWARE
Control system
The real control system of ANGELANTONI chambers consists of a PLC inside the machine.
The Winkratos™ software complements these controllers by supplying all monitoring functions, graphic interface and
data analysis so that both performance and results of the tests can be used and verified.
On demand, Winkratos™ can control several chambers (up to max. 16) even of different types. This system may run
on Ethernet connection (default set-up, local or company network: please refer to chapter 3 for configuration details
and any required hardware) or on the typical RS232 or RS422 serial configurations (available on demand; it may
require one or more multi-serial cards in the PC: please refer to chapter 3).

Controller

PLC 4
Controller
This device runs the climatic chambers: all adjustment operations, actual tests, alarm checks etc. are carried out at
this level.
All operations to visualise and save measurements on the disk within the controller are passed on to the Winkratos™
software by means of a Ethernet or serial line.
Supervisor
This is the role of Winkratos™ so that it naturally complements the system controller and provides the operator with
an advanced graphic interface, in a Windows application, in order to use the chamber supplied to carry out all the
operations required to run a test (throughout the various steps) to the best possible advantage.
83 519847 - 210410
Multilanguage support
The 4.xx version of Winkratos™ has 5 languages, Italian, English, French, German and Spanish (standard cham-
bers).
The language can be changed on-line when the system is in operation without interrupting the test.
In some special versions of Winkratos™, fewer languages may be available than those indicated above.
Operative modes
The software is divided into clearly defined “areas”, each logically associated to specific operations:
• manual mode: this enables the operator to set the set-point that has to be reached and the slope with which to
operate directly, as well as to use any actuators (ON/OFF contacts). The test is started directly by the operator and
continues with the set parameters until the operator stops it himself.
• Programme mode: this runs tests automatically. Each test created with the internal editor can be activated to
carry out the selected test profile in automatic mode.
The entire selected profile can be carried out up to a maximum of 100 times (once by default).
The profile can also be started, if necessary, from any segment other than the first.
• Delayed Start Mode: allows the operator to set the date and time when the machine will start in the program
mode. In this way the chamber operation activities and recording sessions (log) can be programmed in advance,
before the actual operation.
Test design
This is the function to create and/or modify a test profile (programme) that will be saved on a disk in order for it to be
used at a later stage. Winkratos™ supplies you with a very advanced graphic editor with which to design directly the
test profile the chamber has to carry out.
Up to a maximum of 100 segments, together with internal repetitions, may be generated for a single programme.
The number of programmes that can be run depends only on the dimensions of the PC hard disk on which Winkra-
tos™ has been installed.
Of course the Test Editor can function independently of the test actually being carried out in the chamber. And there-
fore new tests can be created while the machine is operating in order to optimise the operator’s time.
The possibility to visualise only the channels (e.g. Temperature and humidity) that are of interest makes it far easier
to manage the entire test creation stage.
The possibility to rename and edit the existing files also enables already available information to be used with the
minimum number of modifications without having to rewrite the entire test profile.
Control flags, in advanced mode, are available to define the segment type in order to create, where necessary, spe-
cial chamber operations, as well as the classical well-known operations such as MAX. SPEED RAMP, CONTROL-
LED RAMP, HOLD available in standard mode.
In special cases the control of a specific channel in a segment can be switched off while the other channels continue
to function normally.
Test monitoring
Winkratos™ enables all the variables of the system process to be visualised in order to give an immediate evaluation
of the situation within the chamber. All the information concerning the condition of the dedicated and auxiliary con-
tacts as well as the presence of any alarm conditions is also visualised.
Each significant change in the state of the system is communicated to the operator by means of video messages
containing the date and time as well as the actual message itself. If a log session is in progress, these messages will
be saved on the disk so that the test is given a complete history.
519847 - 210410
84
How to switch the contacts ON/OFF
Winkratos™ defines the ON/OFF state of a maximum of 16 contacts organised into two groups: dedicated (8 con-
tacts, each with a specific identification name) and auxiliary (8 general contacts available to the user). The contacts in
question have to be switched on directly by the operator if the chamber is operating in manual mode, or they can be
linked to the segments of a test profile if the chamber is operating in programme mode.
The number of contacts actually available in the final application depends on the customer’s requests before the offer
is made.
Password organisation
Different password levels may be defined in order to give different levels of access to machine operation. The following
are available:
• “Supervisor” level (an account): this enables the password to be inserted or not. The software is supplied initially
with no password control: it is the job of the system supervisor to switch on this function or not.
• “Administrator” level (an account): this gives complete control of all the machine functions. The Administrator
can also change the “user name” (account) and the lower level password.
• “Operator” level (max. eight accounts): a number of 8 operators are available who can use the chamber in order
to start/stop and monitor the tests but not to create or modify tests.
Alarm organisation
The PLC informs Winkratos™ of all the alarm conditions present in the chamber. The software gives the operator all
the information concerning the alarms that have been triggered and enables an alarm reset procedure to be carried
out so that the test will restart. All the operations necessary to control the alarm condition are automatically taken by
the chamber controller (PLC inside the chamber), so that by the time the message appears on the video, the alarm
condition has already been controlled by the controller.
It is also possible to visualise a recording that has already been archived when a normal log session or the present
test is under way.
When the recording is switched on, all the events that took place during the test are memorised on the disk; in this
way when you exit from Winkratos™ either voluntarily or involuntarily due to a black-out all data will be available for
future analysis.
85 519847 - 210410
Data acquisition: graphic printing
As it is the Windows operative system that will run the printing, there are no limits to printer type or specifications that
can be used: just make sure that the drivers for the printer in question are available.
Technical assistance
A menu is available for maintenance and control operations from which the ANGELANTONI technicians can get infor-
mation on the condition of the machine and can, where necessary, make the necessary adjustments.
• It is preferable to use only the Winkratos™ application as the use of other applications at the same time may cause
problems in the PC and Winkratos™ software operations.
The larger the number of programmes working at the same time, the lower the performance of the PC.
• The larger the number of applications that are switched on, the slower the PC will be.
• Avoid installing software you do not really need; neither the type of driver installed into the system by the various
programmes nor the modifications these may make to the PC register can be foreseen.
Therefore:
• free your PC of any unused software programmes;
• switch off the “screen saver”;
• switch off the “power save”.

GB 3 DESCRIPTION OF THE SYSTEM
From this point on, the term “chamber controller” refers to the PLC that controls and regulates the chamber.
The controller makes the tests, controls the alarms and carries out all the control functions. Winkratos™ can both
visualise and programme the cycle.
If you wish to use an external PC to control the chamber, we advise you to read the following paragraph carefully.
3.1.1 Example of how to connect a single chamber (Ethernet connection or serial line)
ETHERNET CONNECTION

3.1.2 Example of how to connect a single chamber with RS422
This is a balanced, Full Duplex interface to be used in industrial environments where there is a high level of noice.
It is used to cover large distances (maximum 1200 m). In order to connect the RS422, the PC must be equipped with
a specific RS422 board or an external converter C (232/422).
The chamber should be equipped with an analog converter D which may be installed inside or outside the chamber.

GB 4 LIST OF THE MOST FREQUENTLY USED TERMINOLOGY
• Terminology
Before we continue to discuss how the Winkratos™ software operates, we should define certain terms which will be
used amply in the following pages.
• Environmental tests
The aim of environmental tests is to bring to light and to identify any defect in the components and materials su-
bjected to tests (DUT or EUT i.e. Device Under Test or Equipment Under Test). For this reason the operative condi-
tions of the components are forced, by means of the chamber, to “critical” values and held for an adequate period of
time. The terms “critical values” and “adequate period of time” obviously depend on the type of test required, on the
component subjected to testing and on the type of stress used to check the component. In other words, the chamber
enables those environmental conditions to be generated that the operator considers opportune in order to test the
component: in this way it is possible to simulate in days or weeks how the component could react in the real world in
years of working life.
As always, the first step is to draw the required profile on paper and this must then be analysed in more detail.
For example:
- Draw a diagram of the profile required for all channels.
- Enter the set-point value in the segment and define how this value should be reached.
- Outline the logic condition of each segment when it is set into action.
- Check whether there are any segments that can be repeated using a “repetition table” (see at a later sta-
ge)
- Give the profile a name in order to identify it as easily and as quickly as possible (Winkratos™ will, howe-
ver, give a name in sequence from 0001 a 9999 by default).
Finally, the only thing left to do will be simply to transfer this information to Winkratos™ by means of the profile editor,
as described in the relevant paragraph.
• Segment
Also referred to as “step” or “knot”. This is the basic unit of a test programme and it contains the set-points of one or
more controlled variables, as well as other additional information such as the ON/OFF condition, segment duration
etc. Three “basic” segment types are usually used to create any kind of thermo-climatic profile:
- HOLD segment: a segment in which the set temperature (°C) and/or relative humidity (RH%) values are held for
a certain period of time.
- Maximum speed segment: a segment that is carried out at the maximum possible speed to reach a given set
point.
- Controlled ramp segment: a segment in which the chamber must reach the set-point at the required speed (gra-
dient).
• Gradient
The speed at which a segment is carried out. It is expressed as a ratio between the unit of measurement and the time
(°C/min.; RH%/min. etc.).
91 519847 - 210410
• Set-point
The set value (temperature or relative humidity) to which the controller must bring the chamber.
• Flag
Programme variables that can assume only two different values or conditions (for example: 0 or 1; ON or OFF; OK
or OFF; SAVE or OFF; etc.).
• Duration wait
- ON: the segment is considered to have finished only when the set time has finished. After this period of time the
programme moves on to the next segment.
- OFF: the segment is considered to have finished when the set point value is reached, independently of the time it
takes.
• Control
- ON: this controls the relevant channel (temperature, humidity, etc.).
- OFF: this no longer controls the relevant channel (temperature, humidity, etc.).
• Maximum speed
- ON: the set value (SET-POINT) will be reached at the maximum possible speed.
- OFF: the programme considers the set gradient.
• Set-point wait
- ON: the segment is considered to have finished only when the set-point value has been reached. After this period
of time the programme moves on to the next segment.
- OFF: the segment is considered to have finished at the end of the set time, whether the set-point has been reached
or not.
N.B.: The “Duration wait” and “Set-point wait” flags should never both be switched OFF at the same time.
• Near set
Tolerance within which the set point is considered to be reached.
A default value is already memorized; it is recommended that this value not be changed.
In order for this indication to have an effect in the running of the program, the “set point wait” flag must be ON.
• Repetitions
This enables an entire programme to be repeated automatically, starting from a specific segment. Up to 9999 re-
petitions can be made of the entire programme. When the machine is switched on, the default value is 1 so that the
number of repetitions does not have to be reset. The operations included in this phase are not memorised so that data
has to be reinserted each time a programme has to be repeated.
• Loop table
This enables up to 10 repetitions of parts of a programme (series of segments or single segment) to be set.
Within a loop another nested loop can be carried out; this, however, must be a part of the main loop. In this example
16 segments are not written; the programme is told to carry out segments 1, 2, 3, 4 four times (fig. 4.1).

• Special and/or auxiliary contacts
These provide electrical energy to switch on certain characteristic functions of the system and auxiliary contacts
(external equipment).
• Controlled channel
Normally there are two or more channels, and they regard the variables that can be controlled by means of regula-
tors. In the standard chambers, the first channel is for temperature, the second for relative humidity. As regards the
channels for the CSTs, the DCTCs and vacuum chambers (TD and UD series), refer to the appendixes. For special
chambers, refer to the enclosed documents.
• Process variables
Also referred to as CONTROLLED VARIABLES (also referred to later on as simply “variables”).
This is the way in which the physical parameters that are to be adjusted are indicated, that is to say those physical
parameters linked to a regulator inside the chamber controller.
Typical process variables are Temperature and Relative Humidity and the action of the system controller may be:
- Monitoring: reading and any eventual memorisation on the disk of the measurements.
- Control: adjustment of the size (e.g. Temperature) around the required value (i.e. set by the operator, manually or
from the programme).
Other variables may also be present, according to the type of machine. These further variables may also be monito-
red or controlled according to the type of system.
• Regulation
Each controlled variable needs a specific regulator in order to be able to reach and maintain the value required by the
operator for the variable itself. For example, in a system where the aim is to regulate the temperature, the regulator
will operate in such a way as to minimise the difference between the temperature value requested by the operator
(required value: set-point) and the real value.
• Regulator
An algorithm which enables the actual energy requested by the chamber to be calculated in order to minimise the
error between the set-point and the measurement. The most common regulator is the one referred to as PID (used
in the ANGELANTONI Industrie systems).
• Measurement
A value measured inside the chamber by special sensors (usually a PT100 for the temperature, another type for other
parameters).
• Segment attributes
DURATION WAIT: If it is ON, it ensures that the time specified in the special “DURATION” field actually passes be-
fore moving on to the next segment.
• Channel attributes
- CONTROL: If it is ON, it specifies that the variable in question has to be checked, in other words, the regulator
linked to the variable must be switched on.
- SET WAIT: If it is ON, the segment will move on only when the measurement of the controlled variable in question
(e.g. temperature) will have reached the requested set-point (to reach the set-point really means to end the seg-
ment exchange band: +-1 degree Celsius for temperature, +-3% for relative humidity in standard chambers).
If this flag is OFF for a MAX SPEED ramp and the DURATION WAIT segment is also OFF, the system will move on
directly to the next segment, as no condition has been requested to end the segment.
93 519847 - 210410
- MAX SPEED: the present segment must be carried out at the maximum possible speed, and therefore the cham-
ber will try to reach the final value as quickly as possible. This time depends on both the chamber specifications
and the load inside.
N.B.: all the above-mentioned flags are linked together by an AND condition. Therefore, if more than one is
switched ON, there will be a segment change only when all the specified conditions of the various flags have been
fulfilled.
For example, if the DURATION WAIT and SET WAIT flags are both ON, then the segment change will take place
when the measured temperature reaches the set-point and the set time has passed.
The flag operations indicated below correspond to the various keys in the WinKratos™ editor.
Segment type Control flag Max. speed flag Set Wait Flag Duration Wait Flag
MAX SPEED ON ON ON OFF
HOLD ON OFF OFF ON
CONTR. RAMP ON OFF OFF ON
The classical configuration shown above is for traditional segments. Please note that as every possible combination
of keys is available, special purpose chamber operations can be created to adapt to customer test requirements.
Let us imagine, for example, that a particular set-point has to be reached (e.g.: 80 degrees Celsius) at maximum
speed, but you also want to be sure that the temperature is stable enough (very small oscillations around the set-
point) before moving on to the following segment.
Segment type Control flag Max. speed flag Set Wait Flag Duration Wait Flag
MAX SPEED ON ON ON ON
As you can see, both the MAX SPEED and the DURATION WAIT flags are ON: in this case the chamber will reach
the set-point as quickly as possible (MAX. SPEED ON), but will move on to the next segment only after the time set
in the DURATION field.
Controlled ramps provide us with another interesting situation. Imagine that we have the following type of combina-
tion:
Segment type Control flag Max. speed flag Set Wait Flag Duration Wait Flag
CONTR. RAMP ON OFF OFF ON
This will enable us to reach the final set-point in a specified time (e.g.: 30 minutes), starting from the present set-point.
The controller will increase (more or less according to the initial and final set-points) the real value of the set-point so
that the final value requested will be reached in the time requested. At this point the system will move towards the
next segment. In this case “priority” is given to the time and not to the set-point, as if, for any reason, the chamber
has not reached the set-point, there will still be a segment change after the requested time.
At this point the combination of flags can be modified for a specific request to wait for the final set-point, as well as
for the time:
Segment type Control flag Max. speed flag Set Wait Flag Duration Wait Flag
CONTR. RAMP ON OFF ON ON
As the SET WAIT has been set to ON, the controller has been asked to wait both for the set time as well as for the
final set-point. In this case, although the final set-point will be respected, the duration will not necessarily be, if the
chamber should not carry out the theoretical steps requested for any reason.

channels will have reached the set set-point.
B The temperature segment is carried out at maximum speed and the machine then waits for the duration
time before moving on to the next segment.
The humidity segment is on hold.
N.B.: the segment is considered completed when both these conditions have been fulfilled.
E Relative humidity control is switched “No control” when controlling of the channel is not desired.
The controls are all linked with each other by a condition of “AND” logic.
If more than one control is running, their respective conditions will all have to be che-
cked in order to be able to move on to the next segment.

GB 14 ACCESS TO THE SYSTEM (Password)
Winkratos™ offers you the possibility of having three different access levels:
• Supervisor
Maximum level. It has access to all the system functions.
• System Administrator
Second level. It can modify the programmes and has access to top level functions.
• Operator
It can be set for up to 8 operators each with his own password. The operator has access to the basic system fun-
ctions such as start-up and shutdown, but he cannot modify a programme.
Only the supervisor or system administrator can change the operators’ passwords and accounts,
therefore they should plan the number of people who will be involved in using the system.

GB 16 HOW TO ORGANIZE DATA LOGGING ARCHIVES
Winkratos™ gives you the possibility of memorising on the hard disk all the important test data, so they are available
for future analysis, visualisation or printing.
The recording system is completely independent of the other systems, therefore, a log recording session can be
started or stopped without influencing the condition of the chamber.
It is possible to:
• Start a session: the system memorises the measured data on the hard disk.
• Use a session in progress: all the acquired data are available for visualisation, printing and so on.
• Stop a session: it does not matter whether the test has finished or not; the recording system will ope-
rate until you decide to stop it. When the log session has stopped, it will be available
for analysis, under the <previous session>.

All this is to help the user that can need to set a particular configuration for a particular used program.
The delayed start is a function designed to allow a test to be started at a specific date and precise time, set directly by
the operator. The starting of the test can be synchronized with the start of a log session. The special “navigator” panel
makes it possible to monitor the status of the chamber and to set the functions connected with the delayed start.
From the < Control > menù, selecting < Navigator > (or simply pressing CTRL + N keys) a panel will bring to front
with information on the chambers available to the user, accordingly to the system configuration:
17.1
17.2
WK332GB920
WK340GB910
Each chamber is an entry in a list control. Each entry contains the basic information regarding the chamber; starting
from left to right we can find:
- Chamber number (ex: 01)
- Chamber status (Waiting, Program, Manual, Idle)
- Test file name (if available)
- Expected start time (if in waiting mode)
- Log status (waiting for synchro start, active or not)
The names are self explanatory: “Waiting” means that the chamber has been requested for a delayd start and it is
really waiting for the time reported in the appropriate field.
You can move across the chamber using Navigator: up and down keys will bring you on the chamber you want. The
information displayed on the panel will change accordingly (for example, if a delayed start has been requested a
countdown field will appear on the bottom right part of the panel when that chamber is selected.
Buttons on the right side of the panel gives the user the way to act the operations for the chamber: start/stop a test,
start/stop a log session and so on.
Each operation always refers to the selected chamber (that is the chamber highlighted on the list box).
• START NOW
If the chamber is in “waiting mode”, the user can immediately run the test via the button “Start now!”.
519847 - 210410
132
• CLOSE PANEL
Simply close the panel.
If for some reason chamber is not communicating with PC, no operation will be taken into consideration by the Navi-
gator: a message will infor you that it is not possible to operate:
17.3
WK332GB930
As already said, left and mouse buttons are available to the user instead of the corresponding buttons. Be aware
that the operations will take place regarding the chamber currently selected on the navigator, that is on the chamber
highlighted: if you double click in the line that specifies the second chamber the panel will refer anyway to chamber
number 1, if this is the highlighted one. To select a chamber you need to move on the appropriate entry using the up
and down keys or a single left mouse button click. From operation point of view, it appears that double clicking on the
left mouse button selects the chamber and take the action, while double clciking the right mouse button simply takes
the action without changing the selected chamber (with the mouse or the UP and DOWN keys).
17.4
WK332GB090
By default the “Enable delayed start” button is disabled, that means that if you select a file and press the “Start Test”
button, the program will start immediately.
If you check the “Enable delayed start” button you will gain access to the fields that give you the way to change the
date and time for the start. Please note that the values are forced at the panel opening to the current date and time.
You can now select the date at which you want the test will be running and act in the normal way. In the below picture
everything is ready to run a delayd test: the test name, the “Enable delayed start” button and the date/time at which
we want the system running. It’s just matter to press “Start test” button to enable the operation.
WK332GB091
If you want to run a recorder session automatically when the delayed test program starts, you need to check a specific
check box in the “New data acquisition panel”.
17.6
WK332GB220
If you check the button “Only run on program start”, the recording session will take place at the start of the test. If you
leave it unchecked, no recording session will take place. Note that the Delayed log sessionn request must be done
before starting a delayed test program.
17.7
WK340GB010
You are informed on the fact that the system is ready to start a delayed log by the means of the “Data recording” led
in the Winkratos™ toolbar: it will falsh in yellow, indicating that it is ready to start.
It will turn to green when the start will occour.

19.8 THE ALARMS
We now wish to explain how the system reacts under an alarm condition.
2
First of all we would like to remind you how the system is structured:
5 6
1 4
1 PC with Winkratos™
2 Chamber 7 3
3 Controller (PLC)
4 Ethernet or serial line
5 Alarm coming from the chamber
6 Reaction of the PLC towards the chamber
7 Information about an alarm
• The PLC deals with the alarm by taking opportune actions towards the chamber 6.
• The PLC sends the relevant alarm 7 information to the PC by means of a serial line 4.
The PLC has complete control over the chamber; it is responsible for obtaining, analysing, and checking data from
the real system and then taking action according to the information it has obtained.
In this organisation system, the PLC is the “server” that generates data used by the “client” software.
When an alarm condition is triggered, the PLC stops the chamber and notifies the event to the software that in turn
shows a message informing him of the problem.
By using the information supplied by the software, the operator can identify the cause of the problem and, if possible,
resolve it (see chapter “Troubleshooting”).
At this point a reset operation is required, as described in the relevant paragraph in this handbook.
• The PLC (controller) identifies this condition and in order to guarantee the safety of the system, stops the cham-
ber.
The system behaves according to the type of test (manual or programme).
- If the system was working in manual mode, the chamber simply switches OFF and the regulators are disa-
bled.
- If the system was in programme mode, the chamber switches OFF, the regulators are disabled and the test
profile is suspended so that the length of time is no longer measured. In other words, if a 10-hour HOLD segment
was in progress and the alarm triggered after 2 hours, the timer will suspend the countdown.
• Any other operations depend on the type of system or the customer’s needs if he requires a special machine. In
this case, please refer to any attachments to this handbook.
• The operator receives information concerning the type of alarm from the PC and operator panel.
Both of these give information about the type of alarm, so that the user can take the necessary steps.
The operator will receive information about the type of alarm on the PC.
The alarm is notified by the PC and by the operator panel (if any).
An acoustic and visual alarm sets off (if any).
The interrupted segment will only be restarted if the system is able to return to its initial conditions. If for any reason the
chamber should not reach the condition it was in before the alarm was triggered, the segment will not be restarted.

GB 20 TROUBLESHOOTING
The maintenance operations authorised by ANGELANTONI INDUSTRIE are those indicated in the
chapter ENTITILED “Regular maintenance”. The information given in the column entitled “SOLU-
TION” in the table below does not authorise any action that will endanger your safety; the informa-
tion is to help any technicians specialised in troubleshooting.
In order to communicate any kind of problem, please contact your authorised technical assistance service or ANGE-
LANTONI NDUSTRIE directly. Please prepare the following documentation carefully and send it by fax or by E-mail:
• A print of the log session recording the data so that these can be examined as quickly as possible.
• A print or file of the cycle carried out and of the presumed error.
The user must have sufficient knowledge of the spreadsheet he wishes to use before treating the data information; in
order to do so, please refer to the instruction handbook accompanying the product you use.
The ASCII files created by preceding versions of Winkratos™ (3.x – 2.x – 1.x) follow rules of formatting and
therefore of importing, that differ from those used by the 4.xx version.
GENERAL NOTES
During a log session Winkratos™ records all the measurements in a binary file in order to be able to carry out an
analysis of these measurements at a later stage, by means of its own graphic recorder/display device.
These measurements can also be exported in ASCII format, so that the information can be made available to all text
management programmes, or at least to those able to operate with this format.
Spreadsheet programmes are of particular interest to us because their functions make them very simple to use to
create graphs and to prepare reports.
N.B.: before starting to work on your favorite spreadsheet make sure that:
• The Winkratos™ decimal separator (the default “ . ”) is the same as your program. If not, move to “International set-
ups” on the control panel and change the default separator to “ . ” or, alternatively, change the Winkratos™ settings
from the ASCII conversion advanced operations panel.
• All the ASCII file columns are marked with a tabulator or by a comma. When you import the files into the spreadshe-
et and you have to use a space mark, select the same as Winkratos™.
• Each spreadsheet has a limited number of lines (which can vary between 8192 and 65536). If you need to cut part
of the ASCI file, take care not to modify the format or erase the tabulating while you save.
• Winkratos™ ASCII 4.x files have been modified, in version 2, so that they are easier to import:
- the first two columns represent the date and time respectively in the “gg/mm/aa” and “hh:mm:ss” format.
In fact Excel enables you to represent the two series (date and time) along the X axis, whereas all the other columns
will be the data series. Note that EXCEL recognises the date and time column as a specific “date” and “time” format
so that all available date and time operations can be carried out within the programme.

21.3 DATA MANAGEMENT USING LOTUS 1, 2, 3
The original ASCII file has the following format:
• Create a column in which to insert the final label you want to use for the X axis in order to have the date and time
information in a single column so that it can be used as the label for the X axis.
In order to do so:
• Insert an empty column immediately after the time column (second column):
+A1+B1
where A and B are the Date and Time columns, respectively (i.e. the first and second columns). The above formula
simply sums up the Date and Time fields.
The cell format is exactly the same as the “Date” and “Time” format and Lotus 1-2-3 uses the “+” operation for this
type.
• Copy the entire length of the column of the above-mentioned cell: Lotus will automatically adjust the addresses so
that you will have a column with all the necessary temporal information.
• Select the range you wish to show in the graph and use column C as reference for the X axis (columns A and B
are not taken into consideration).
• We need to create a new column in which to put the final label for the X axis; for example we want date and time
information in a single column to use as indicator for the X axis.
@CONCATENATE(A1; “ “;B1)
where A and B are the date and time columns respectively, whereas “ ” is an empty space (one space). The above-
mentioned formula simply states that we require the date and time in the same field.
Remember that the cell format is exactly the same as the date and time format and this operation is available in the
QUATTRO PRO spreadsheet.
• Copy the entire column of the above-mentioned cell: QUATTRO PRO will automatically adjust all the addresses
so that you will have a column with all the date and time information:
03/11/99
03/11/99 14.55.15 50.13 50 98.75 98 85.4 48.84

03/11/99 14.55.20 50.26 50 98.69 98 85.6 48.92
14:55:20
• Select the field in which you want to draw the graph and use column C as reference for the X axis (in other words,
ignore columns A and B).

21.5 DATA MANAGEMENT USING STAROFFICE 5.1 (STARCALC)
When the import operation is completed, you will have the usual date in the electronic spreadsheet:
We need to create a new column in which to put the final label for the X axis; for example we want date and time
information in a single column to use as indicator for the X axis.
• Copy the entire column of the above-mentioned cell: STARCALC will automatically adjust all the addresses so that
you will have a column with all the date and time information:
03/11/99
03/11/99 14.55.15 50.13 50 98.75 98 85.4 48.84
14:55:15
03/11/99
03/11/99 14.55.20 50.26 50 98.69 98 85.6 48.92
14:55:20
• Select the field in which you want to draw the graph and use column C as reference for the X axis (in other words,
ignore columns A and B).

In the parameter mode as well, the particular nature of this family of chambers made it necessary to use specially-
created interfaces, which make it more user-friendly.
The cycle editor for the CST takes into account the fact that a thermal shock test takes place in the following man-
ner:
1) start of the test in the cold chamber and hold in that chamber for a given period of time;
2) move to the ambient chamber and hold in that chamber for a given period of time;
3) move to the hot chamber and hold in that chamber for a given period of time;
4) return to the ambient chamber and hold in that chamber for a time not necessarily the same as the initial period.
22.4
WK340GB1030
The cycle can be repeated for the number of times set by the user; the defrost cycles can be set in the same manner
(for the meaning of these, refer to the chamber manual).
The type of mask makes it easy and intuitive to create a cycle for this type of chamber, which would be more complex
with the traditional Winkratos™ editor; in a cycle created in this way the management of the dedicated contacts is
automated, and the various segments are placed in the correct run order for this type of chamber.
The fact that the cycle to be run is particular is found also in the monitoring panel, which is slightly modified compared
to the standard panel:
