OBJECTIVE(S):
General objective
Obtain a crystalline product that is as pure as possible, eliminate impurities present in
the solid sample
Specific goal
 identify if when using benzoic acid it reacts quickly and it is possible to
visualize the crystals formed.
 Specify whether the reactions can purify solid compounds.

4. RESULTS OBTAINED

The effectiveness of the technique can be assessed by measuring the melting point of
the resulting crystalline compound, where a high melting point indicates a higher degree
of purity. Furthermore, sublimation can be used as an alternative technique for the
purification of volatile solids. There are also different methods for the crystallization of
benzoic acid, including the use of a cooling bath and the addition of a seed crystal.

5. CONCLUSIONS

 It can be seen that the conditions when impure solid is used for crystallization
are methods that when filtering for the first time, small crystals can be observed,
but when filtering for the second time, the presence of crystals can be observed.

 The methods of separation and purification of a solution are in equilibrium with

those that are part of the crystal lattice. A crystal lattice excludes the
participation of impurities in it, since the filtration heats up, thereby causing a
slight cooling of the solution, causing crystallization.

6. RECOMMENDATIONS

JUSTIFICATION The present work will focus on the study of crystallization and its
elaboration process in the laboratory. It is important in the industrial process, since it
allows certain products to be commercialized in the form of crystals. It provides the
product with uniformity in shape, thus making it easier to transport the material. What
makes it even more important is the amount of energy expenditure, since
crystallization uses much less energy compared to other purification methods
generally used. Thus, the present work will allow to show us the crystallization process,
and to deepen the theoretical knowledge. It offers a comprehensive view of the use of
crystals in everyday life.
