MANUALE REVISIONE / CATALOGO RICAMBI

La cartuccia forcella ABA è un importante componente del motoveicolo
e in questo manuale è descritto il migliore metodo per revisionarla
correttamente.
Vi preghiamo di leggere attentamente questo manuale prima di
procedere alla revisione; se avete qualche dubbio riguardo alla
procedura da seguire, contattate il nostro Ufficio Tecnico.

Tenete sempre presente che la cartuccia ha il corpo in pressione perciò

è molto pericolosa: qualche componente potrebbe uscire ad altissima
velocità e provocare seri danni alla salute vostra e/o ad altri nelle
vicinanze.
Leggete attentamente questo manuale per eseguire il corretto
procedimento di smontaggio ed evitare le negative conseguenze di una
procedura errata.

- Grasso per guarnizioni cod. 997615
- Fluido Sospensioni Bitubo cod. 997618 (SAE 7)
4) Fissare in morsa la Cartuccia in posizione
rovesciata, serrando tra le ganasce il tappo
superiore

Attrezzatura necessaria:

BITUBO
- Chiave per tappo ghiera-corpo Ø 25mm cod. 00214
- Attrezzo blocca cartuccia Ø 25mm cod. 00396
- Manometro inserimento gas Ø 25mm cod. 00231 5) Svitare e togliere il dado di blocco dallo stelo
- Ganasce morsa per steli Ø 8-10-12-14 cod. 00318

GENERICA
- Chiave poligonale da 13 mm
- Chiave poligonale da 32 mm e 36 mm
- Nastro guarnizione in teflon

6) Sfilare e togliere il piattello portamolla

SEQUENZA DI SMONTAGGIO
1) Smontare i gambali forcella dalla moto, seguendo
le procedure descritte nel Manuale di Officina del
Costruttore della motocicletta.

2) Estrarre tutto il complesso cartuccia dal gambale

forcella, seguendo la procedura descritta nel
Manuale di Officina del Costruttore della
motocicletta.

3) Allentare con la chiave fissa da 13 mm il dado di

bloccaggio dello stelo sul tubo distanziale
originale, e separare la cartuccia dal resto.

7) Eseguire alcuni movimenti di compressione ed 10) Svitare completamente, e togliere il tappo,
estensione dello stelo, fino ad avvertire che il primo sfilandolo lungo lo stelo
tratto di corsa (5-6 mm) avviene liberamente, senza
avvertire il passaggio di olio sul pistone

11) Estrarre dal tubo cartuccia lo stelo, completo di

gruppo idraulico
8) Per fissare in morsa il corpo cartuccia, inserire sul
tubo cartuccia l’attrezzo Bitubo cod. 00396, e
fissarlo in morsa come visualizzato in foto

12) Svuotare l’olio dal tubo cartuccia, versandolo in

apposito recipiente.
9) Con l’ attrezzo Bitubo cod. 00214, svitare lentamente
il tappo di chiusura cartuccia, per depressurizzarla

 16) Disassemblare i componenti del gruppo idraulico,
13) Rovesciare e fissare in morsa il tubo cartuccia come verificando l’ordine di montaggio delle lamelle, e
visualizzato in foto, e con la chiave da 32mm o la loro perfetta integrità (nel caso, sostituirle)
36mm (a seconda del tipo di tappo superiore),
svitare e togliere il tappo di chiusura superiore

14) Si accede così agli O-ring di tenuta del tappo, per la

loro eventuale sostituzione. Poi riavvitare il tappo
di chiusura, con coppia di serraggio finale di 28 Nm
17) Sfilare il pistone idraulico e pulirlo soffiando con
aria compressa i suoi passaggi calibrati

15) Serrare in morsa lo stelo cartuccia utilizzando le

ganasce morsa per steli cod. 00318, e con la chiave
poligonale da 13mm allentare e togliere il dado di
blocco del gruppo idraulico

 SEQUENZA DI RIMONTAGGIO
1) Riassemblare il gruppo idraulico seguendo le
operazioni inverse descritte ai punti 16-17.
NOTA: la quantità di olio al riempimento varia a
seconda del codice della cartuccia. Fare riferimento
alla tabella T 2.2 a pagina 7.
4) Applicare sulla filettatura dello stelo del nastro in
teflon (per proteggere il paraolio di tenuta durante
l’inserimento del tappo–ghiera di chiusura tubo
cartuccia)

2) Avvitare il dado di blocco del gruppo idraulico, e

fissarlo con coppia di serraggio di 8 Nm 5) Cospargere con grasso cod. 997615 il nastro in teflon

6) Applicare sul pistone la nuova fascia di tenuta-

scorrimento (presente nel Kit Revisione), e inserire
lo stelo (con il gruppo idraulico) nel tubo cartuccia

3) Fissare in morsa il tubo cartuccia (come spiegato al

punto 8), e versare nel tubo nuovo olio Bitubo cod.
997618.

 10) inserire nello stelo il piattello portamolla, nel giusto
7) Inserito il tappo ghiera, farlo scorrere sullo stelo verso (sagomatura verso l’alto)
fino al tubo cartuccia, quindi avvitarlo a mano fino
all’O-ring in gomma.

11) avvitare sulla filettatura dello stelo cartuccia il dado di

bloccaggio, quindi procedere nel montaggio seguendo
8) Applicare sul tubo cartuccia (come mostrato in foto) il a ritroso la procedura descritta nei punti 1-3 della
manometro inserimento gas cod. 00231 (Ø 25 mm) sequenza di smontaggio.

… collegare il tubo dell’erogatore Azoto, ed inserire il

gas alla pressione di 6 bar.

9) Applicare ora l’attrezzo Bitubo cod. 00214, e serrare

a fondo il tappo-ghiera di chiusura tubo cartuccia.
Così facendo, la cartuccia resterà in pressione.

SERVICE MANUAL / SPARE PARTS LIST

The fork cartridge is an important component of the motorbike, and in
this Service Manual is explained the correct method to revise it.
Please study and make certain that you fully understand all the
instruction before handling this component; if you have any questions
regarding proper service procedures, please contact a Bitubo
technician.

Remember that the cartridge is pressurized ant its may be very

dangerous: some component may be expulsed at very hight speed and
cause serious damage to your healt and/or other people nearby.

Read carefully this manual in order to follow the right dismounting

procedure and avoid the negative conseguences of a wrong procedure.

BITUBO USED AND RECOMMENDS LUBRICANTS

All images, data and/or remarks in this booklet are given exlusively as an indication. All data are modificable without
advance notification.

Necessary BITUBO spares: 4) Fix the cartridge in a vice, tightening the upper cap
between the jaws, as shown in photo
- Overhauling kit ABA cod. GR 0038
- Grease for seals code 997615
- Suspension fluid code Bitubo cod. 997618 (SAE 7)

Working tools:

BITUBO
- Tool for cap body Ø 25mm cod. 00214
- Cartridge lock tool Ø 25mm cod. 00396
- Bush and pressure gauge for gas, body Ø 25mm
cod. 00231
- Vices jaws for rods Ø 8-10-12-14 cod. 00318 5) Unscrew and remove the lock nut from the rod

GENERAL USE
- Polygonal key 13 mm
- Polygonal key 32 mm or 36 mm
- Teflon tape

6) Remove the spring plate

DISASSEMBLY SEQUENCE
1) Remove the fork from the bike leg, as described in
Manufacturer's Workshop Manual

2) Remove the cartridge from the leg fork, following the

procedure described in the Workshop Manual the
motorbike manufacturer.

3) Loosen with the poligonal 13mm key the lock nut of

the rod to the original spacer, and separating the
cartridge from the rest.

 7) Perform some movements of compression and 10) Uscrew and remove the cap, sliding along the rod
extension of the rod, until hear the first part of the
stroke (5-6 mm) occurs freely, without passage of oil
trought the hydraulic piston

11) Remove the rod from the cartridge tube, complete

with the hydraulic group

8) To clamp the cartridge in the wice, insert in the

cartridge tube the Bitubo tool cod. 00396, and tighten
in the jaws as shown in photo

12) Drain the oil from the cartridge tube, pouring it in a

special container.

9) Using the tool Bitubo cod. 00214, slowly unscrew the

body cartridge cap to depressurized the tube.

13) Upset and fix in vice the pipe cartridge as visualized 16) Disassemble the components of the hydraulic unit,
in photo, and with the key 32mm or 36mm verifyng the order of assemblage of the disk plates,
(according to the type of the top cap), unscrew and and their perfect integrity (in the case, replace)
remove the top cap of the cartridge tube.

14) Now you log on at the two O-ring seal cap, for their
(eventually) replacement. At the end, screw the cap,
with the final torque of 28 Nm
17) Remove the hydraulic piston and blowing clean
with compressed air its calibrated passages

15) Tighten the cartridge rod using the Bitubo jaws cod.
00318, and with the poligonal 13mm wrench
loosen and remove the nut that locks the hydraulic
group

 MOUNTING SEQUENCE NOTE: the level of oil in the cartridge varies
according to the length of the tube cartridge. See
1) Reassembly the hydraulic group following the inverse the scheme T 2.2 at page 7 for the correct oil level
operations described to the points 16-17. for each model cartidge code

4) Apply on the thread of the rod of the teflon tape (to

protect the oil seal during the insertion of the body
cartridge cap)

2) Screw the lock nut and thighten at the torque of 8 Nm.

5) Apply on the teflon tape Bitubo grease code 997615

6) Apply on the hydraulic piston the new sliding band

(present in the Bitubo Overhauling Kit), and insert the

 … connect the pipe of the Nitrogen dispenser, and insert
the gas at a pressure of 6 bar.

9) Now apply the Bitubo tool cod. 00214, and tighten the
body cartridge cap. This way doing, the cartridge will
stay in pressure.

7) Insert the body cartridge cap, slide it in the rod until the
tube cartridge, then screw by hand until the O-ring 10) insert the spring plate, in the righ direction (shape
rubber (as shown in photo) upward)

11) Screw the rod nut lock until the end of the thread,
and then go back in the assembly following the
procedures described in steps 1-3 of the
