Course Objectives
This course takes an integrated approach to learn AutoCAD in both theory and practice. Starting from the basics and
moving on to more complex drawings, students will be provided knowledge needed to enter the field of technical
drafting. After completing the course, students will be able to:
 use the functions and commands of AutoCAD software to develop civil engineering drawings.
 locate and apply many features of AutoCAD that automate drafting process with increased accuracy in lesser
time compared to manual drafting.
 locate and apply features of AutoCAD for the accurate addition of dimensions, drawings notes and labels.
 present drawings in a detailed and visually impressive manner.
 use the functions and commands of AutoCAD software to create isometric and three-dimensional drawings
and models.

Grading Criteria
 Attendance and class participation : 10%
 Assignments and quizzes : 15%
 Mid term exam : 25%
 Final term exam and viva : 50%

Classroom Policy & Students’ Responsibilities


 Remember to check instructor’s webpage to download notes for yourself before you arrive to attend the
lecture.
 It is recommended to bring your personal laptop for exercising lab sessions.
 Attendance is mandatory for all students.
 Assignments will be due by the next lecture. Late submissions will not be accepted.
 Dishonest work in assignments and exam tests is a serious offense. Anyone found cheating will be liable for
cancellation of his work.
 Ringing cellphones are considered as disruptive behavior. Keep your cellphones switched off or silent during
the lab session.
 Keep all your assignments safe with yourself as they will be required in the viva exam at the end of semester.
