Una produzione tutta italiana
Il ciclo produttivo inizia con il taglio del materiale grezzo delle fibre composite in pezzi unici e forme diverse in base alla taglia della calotta da produrre ed ai requisiti di omologazione. Il processo di stampaggio viene quindi effettuato a mano e la calotta controllata per verificarne la conformit del peso e dello spessore stabilito.
In ogni fase della produzione, vengono eseguiti rigorosi controlli di qualit. La frequente presenza di controlli durante tutta la fase di produzione garantisce la qualit superiore Suomy. Il processo di verniciatura automatizzato costituito da due fasi. Nella prima fase si applica uno strato di colore che facilita lapplicazione delle decalcomanie sul casco. Nella seconda fase viene applicato un rivestimento trasparente ai raggi UV, che evita ogni scolorimento della grafica del casco. Lautomazione di alcune fasi del processo produttivo e lutilizzo di tecnologie e materiali allavanguardia sono molto importanti al giorno doggi ma il lavoro manuale gioca un ruolo importante nella produzione dei caschi Suomy e fa la differenza.
Segue il taglio completamente automatico con getto d'acqua. In questo passaggio viene data al casco la forma finale. Tutte le parti non necessarie vengono eliminate ed incisi bordo inferiore, fori per la ventilazione e per la visiera. Successivamente il casco viene smerigliato e lucidato a mano per ottenere una superficie perfettamente liscia ed omogenea prima di passare alla fase della verniciatura.
Le grafiche sono applicate in un ambiente a umidit e temperatura controllate, tassativamente senza polvere per assicurare che la loro applicazione sia esente da qualsiasi contaminante. Lapplicazione delle decal rappresenta una fase complessa, che solo mani esperte ed allenate possono svolgere. Il cinturino del casco viene fissato alla calotta con laiuto di una macchina automatica, mentre linterno in EPS viene inserito a mano. Le prese daria, i meccanismi, le imbottiture e la visiera vengono poi assemblati con estrema cura. Le ultime fasi della linea di produzione sono l'assemblaggio e il confezionamento.
Una volta che il casco assemblato viene nuovamente controllato per garantire la massima qualit di lavorazione. Prima del confezionamento, il personale effettua l'ultimo controllo per poi apporre letichetta CONTROLLO QUALITA sulla parte esterna della scatola. Il casco pronto per la spedizione. Un casco eccellente, curato nei minimi particolari in tutte le fasi del processo produttivo per essere indossato da motociclisti esigenti ed esperti.

The manufacturing cycle starts by cutting the raw fibreglass material into single pieces and different shapes based on the shell and homologation requirements. The moulding process is then done by hand and the weight of every shell is checked and approved when it is within the specified weight range.
At each stage of production, strict quality controls are adhered to ensuring that every distinct component of the helmet is inspected and checked for optimum quality. In addition, every shell is prepared by hand to obtain the smoothest surface possible before moving on to the painting stages.
The graphic decals are applied in a humidity and temperature controlled clean room to ensure their precise application free of any contaminants. The helmets chinstrap is affixed to the shell by an automated machine, while the energy absorbing EPS liner is inserted by hand.
Next a fully automated water jet cutter cuts out the primary parts of the shell like the eye portal/visor, lower border and holes for ventilation, as well as, other key parts.
The automated shell painting process consist of two stages. Stage one applies the base coat so that helmet decal/graphics can then be applied. Stage two applies a UV clear coat, which prevents any fading of the helmet graphics.
The visor installation process assures its correct positioning with an airtight seal and proper adjustment of the visor mechanisms.
Before packaging, the staff carries out the last visual check before affixing the QUALITY CONTROL CHECK sticker on the outside of the box assuring that the helmet has passed Suomys stringent quality control inspection before shipment. The helmet is now ready to be worn by skilled motorcyclists.
The last steps of the production line are the assembly and the packaging. Once the helmet is assembled it is then checked to ensure the highest quality workmanship.

Il progetto 1000Miglia-SUOMY nasce in collaborazione con gli organizzatori di quella che stata definita da Enzo Ferrari la corsa pi bella del mondo: la Millemiglia. Un progetto che parte dalla realizzazione di due linee di caschi, una stile Vintage, laltra stile Urban. La linea caschi Vintage rispecchia il sapore antico e la storia di questa grande corsa. Tre modelli di cui uno da usare rigorosamente con gli occhialoni. La linea caschi Urban moderna ed include caschi dalle colorazioni sobrie dei bianchi e dei neri. Emozioni, ricordi e sogni di una corsa leggendaria in un prodotto di classe e tradizione tutta italiana: Millemiglia-Suomy.
The 1000Miglia-SUOMY project is a collaboration between the company Suomy and the organizers of what has been described by Enzo Ferrari "The most beautiful race in the world": the Mille Miglia. A project that starts with the creation of two lines of helmets, the Vintage style and the Urban style. Vintage style reflects the olden and the history of this great race. Three models, one to be worn strictly with the goggles. The Urban style is modern and includes sober colours of whites and blacks helmets. Visiera stampata e ricavata da una lastra in piano e successivamente, termoformata. Ogni visiera un pezzo unico e con propriet ottiche e di resistenza meccanica, senza eguali. In pi grazie a questo processo non necessaria lapplicazione allinterno della visiera, di lenti sovrapposte in quanto gi provviste di trattamento permanente anti-fog e anti-scratch.
La calotta interna removibile stata studiata ergonomicamente, per un appoggio uniforme e controllato su tutta la testa. Le feritoie daerazione in vista, fanno si che il flusso daria in ingresso termoregoli la parte interna del casco e il flusso daria calda venga scaricato agevolmente dalla parte posteriore.

Spoiler posteriore: prodotto in policarbonato stato studiato e testato in galleria del vento, in modo che il punto di distacco del flusso aerodinamico venga traslato il pi lontano possibile dalla calotta. Questo si traduce in meno turbolenze e quindi vibrazioni sul casco stesso.

Rear spoiler is made from polycarbonate. The spoiler has been subjected to wind tunnel research and testing so that the point of detachment of the aerodynamic flow is shifted as far away as possible from the shell. This results in less turbulence and therefore fewer vibrations on the helmet itself.

SHARP il nuovo punto di riferimento per la sicurezza del motociclista. SHARP provides consumers with an independent assessment of the safety performance of helmets sold in the UK. The SHARP RATING reflects the performance of each helmet model following a series of advanced laboratory tests and rates helmets from 1-5 stars.
Laboratory tests show there are real differences in the safety performance of motorcycle helmets available in the market. All helmets must meet minimum legal safety standards but the SHARP scheme uses a wider range of tests to provide riders with more information on how much protection a helmet can provide in a crash. This objective advice will help riders to choose the safest helmet suitable for them. .

Thanks to wind tunnel studies and the new mechanism designed by SUOMY, the helmet has a very low aerodynamic impact, both frontally and when completely open. This makes the D2O much more stable than other flip-up helmets since aerodynamic interference is decreased consequently eliminating the creation of minor turbulences known as the sail effect in aeronautics. 51

The new SCS product (Suomy Communication System) offers important new features for the market of Bluetooth inter-com systems for helmets. In addition to the typical functions that enable connection with a mobile phone (to speak in safety and listen to mp3 files in hi-fi stereo) and communication with the passenger, SCS also has an integrated FM radio and Bluetooth class 1 system in version 2.1. The excellent quality of the FM radio does not require further descriptions and thanks to the new Bluetooth sub-system it is possible to speak at a distance of even 200m (according to the conditions of the road) with the other travellers and much more. For example, during journeys it is possible to set the SCS to the search friend modality and when two SCS meet they exchange a vocal introduction file thus activating connection with other people travelling along the same road.
Operation: The "Start Communication System" kit (K1) provides the assembly base required for the operation and use of the "Bluetooth Communication System" kit (K2). For installation carefully follow the instructions contained in the booklet inside the box.

- Single helmet: when purchasing just one D2O it is mandatory to purchase kit K1 and kit K2. It is therefore possible to exploit all the functionalities of the SCS system (for the explanation of the K2 kit see relating sheet). - Two D2O helmets: when purchasing no. 2 D2O helmets, we have two choices. The first and easiest is to install kit 1 and kit 2 on both helmets, thus exploiting all the functionalities of the SCS system on the single helmets and especially the connection between the two helmets. Otherwise, one helmet can be fitted with kit 1 and kit 2; the second helmet can be fitted with kit 1 and kit 3 (for explanation of kit K3 see relating sheet). The first helmet will exploit all the functionalities of the SCS system whereas the second helmet will be powered by the first and will have limited functionalities. We recommend referring to the installation booklet inside the box.
Furthermore, the SCS can be easily configured thanks to the supplied PC software. It is possible to create a list of favourite radio stations, set helmet friends to communicate with and other more general configurations.
- Single helmet: when purchasing just one D2O it is mandatory to purchase kit K1 and kit K2. It is therefore possible to exploit all the functionalities of the SCS system which means connecting your mobile phone or mp3 to the helmet; this will allow you to listen to your favourite music or answer your mobile phone while riding your motorcycle (ALWAYS remember to comply with the laws in force on road safety in the country of sale). It is also possible to connect your helmet through Bluetooth to the passengers helmet fitted with another kit K2 or connect it using the supplied wire with the kit K3 (this option foresees the installation of kit K1 as explained previously). The new polycarbonate front sunshield has been tested and studied, along with the entire TRIAL design, in a wind tunnel. Its shape permits excellent ventilation in the upper front part of the shell; whats more, it reduces turbulence generated by the penetration of the helmet inside the air flow. This results in less turbulence and hence less vibrations on the helmet itself.
