AVVERBI DI FREQUENZA

Lo dice la parola stessa, “avverbi di frequenza” indicano la frequenza del ripetersi di

un’azione.

IN INGLESE GLI AVVERBI DI FREQUENZA PIÙ COMUNI SONO:

• ALWAYS = sempre
• USUALLY (o NORMALLY) = di solito
• OFTEN = spesso
• SOMETIMES = qualche volta
• RARELY = raramente
• NEVER = mai

Differiscono a seconda del livello di frequenza, come puoi osservare nella seguente
tabella:

LA POSIZIONE PIÙ COMUNE È TRA IL SOGGETTO E IL VERBO.

ECCO ALCUNI ESEMPI:

• My mum always goes shopping on Saturday.

• She usually drives to the shopping centre.
• They often hang out with their friends and go to the cinema.
• In the Winter they sometimes do Winter sport.
• They rarely go to the mountain in the Summer.
• They never get home late.

ATTENZIONE:

Nelle frasi dove compare il verbo TO BE, l’avverbio di frequenza segue il

verbo (viene messo dopo).

AD ESEMPIO:

• I like Maths tests. They are always easy.

• It’s often cold in February.
• Our friends are never late.

 AVVERBI DI FREQUENZA DETERMINATA
Gli avverbi di frequenza determinata si usano per indicare che un fatto si svolge con una
determinata periodicità.

1. Each Time: in italiano “ogni volta”.

2. Once / Twice / Three Times + a + day / week / month / year: in italiano “Una / Due
volte / 3 volte + a/al + giorno / settimana / mese / anno”.
3. Daily: in italiano “ogni giorno / quotidianamente”.
4. Weekly: in italiano “ogni settimana / settimanalmente”.
5. Monthly: in italiano “mensilmente”.
6. Annually: in italiano “annualmente”.
7. Every + [ Day / Week / Month / Quarter / Year ]: in base alla combinazione il significato
è identico ai precedenti punti (dal 3 al 7).

E’ possibile combinare Every anche con altre parole tipo: Morning, Afternoon, Evening,
Sunday, 10 minutes, etc… Il significato è simile ai precedenti: ogni mattina, ogni
pomeriggio, ogni sera, ogni domenica, ogni 10 minuti, etc…

Diversamente degli avverbi di frequenza principali, questi ultimi possono essere

posizionati ad inizio o fine frase.

• Every day I visit my parents. (Ogni giorno visito i miei genitori.)

• Do you go to the theatre monthly? (Vai a teatro mensilmente?)
• They go on holidays every summer. (Loro vanno in vacanza ogni estate.)
