Comparative Forms in Italian

There are three kinds of comparatives in Italian:

Comparatives of majority
Comparatives of minority
Comparatives of equality

Comparatives of majority and minority:
To make the comparative form we should place the adverbs pi (for a comparative
of majority) or meno (for a comparative of minority) before the adjective. We
should then use the preposition di or che.

Lei pi ricca di lui.
She is richer than him.
Mio fratello meno alto di me.

2. When we use a number.

Examples:

Petrol costs more than 1.50 euros a litre now.

That house is more than 200 years old.
When we use CHE:
1. When there are 2 adjectives and 1 noun.
Example:
Il libro pi interessante che bello.
The book is more interesting than good.
2. When we use 2 verbs in the infinitive form and 1 adjective.
Example:
Giocare pi divertente che guardare.
Playing is more fun than watching.
3. When there is a preposition before the noun or pronoun.
Example:

Comparatives of equality:
To make a comparative of equality, we use tanto or cos before the adjective
and come or quanto after.

We can omit tanto or cos but we have to use come and quanto.
