The Donkey, the Fox and the Lion
A Donkey and a Fox had become friends and were always in
each other's company. While the Donkey ate some fresh grass,
the Fox would devour a chicken from the neighbouring farm.
One day, the pair unexpectedly met a Lion.
The donkey was very much frightened, but the Fox calmed
his fears. "I will talk to him," she said. So the Fox walked bravery
up to the Lion. "Your Highness," she said with a low voice so the
Donkey could not hear her, "I have a fine plan in my head. If you
promise not to hurt me, I will lead that stupid creature where he
can't go out, and you can feast at your pleasure."
The Lion agreed, and the Fox returned to the Donkey. "I
made him promise not to hurt us," said the Fox. "But come, I
know a good place to hide untill he is gone". So the Fox led the
Ass into a deep pit. But when the Lion saw the couple, he
attacked the traitor Fox.
Moral
Traitors have to expect treachery.
L’Asino, la Volpe e il Leone
Un Asino e una Volpe erano diventati amici ed erano sempre
in compagnia l'uno dell'altro. Mentre l'Asino mangiava dell'erba
fresca, la Volpe divorava un pollo della fattoria vicina.
Un giorno, la coppia incontrò inaspettatamente un Leone.
L'asino era molto spaventato, ma la volpe calmò le sue paure.
"Gli parlerò", disse. Così la Volpe si avvicinò coraggiosamente al
Leone. "Vostra Altezza," disse a bassa voce in modo che l'Asino non
potesse sentirla, "ho un bel piano in testa. Se prometti di non
farmi del male, condurrò quella stupida creatura dove non può
uscire." e potrai banchettare a tuo piacimento."
Il Leone acconsentì e la Volpe tornò dall'Asino. "Gli ho fatto
promettere di non farci del male", disse la Volpe. "Ma vieni, cono-
sco un buon posto dove nasconderci finché non se ne sarà
andato." Allora la volpe condusse l'asino in una fossa profonda.
Ma quando il Leone vide la coppia, attaccò la Volpe traditrice .
Morale
I traditori devono aspettarsi un tradimento.
