8B GRAMMAR there is / there are, some / any + plural nouns

a Write the questions and short answers.

1 shower / bathroom? Is there a shower in the bathroom? Yes, there is.


2 pictures / hall? Are there any pictures in the hall? No, there aren’t.
3 double bed / bedroom? Is there a double bed in the bedroom? No, there isn't.
4 piano / living room? Is there a piano in the living room? No, there isn't.
5 plant / study? Are there any plants in the study? No, there aren’t.
6 dishwasher / kitchen? Is there a dishwasher in the kitchen? Yes, there is.
7 cupboards / bathroom? Are there any cupboards in the bathroom? Yes, there are.
8 chairs / bedroom? Are there any chairs in the bedroom? No, there aren't.

b Write + or − sentences.

1 table / kitchen There’s a table in the kitchen.


2 plants / living room There are plants in the living room.
3 mirror / hall There is a mirror in the hall.
4 books / living room There are books in the living room.
5 computer / study There is a computer in the study.
6 clock / kitchen There is a clock in the kitchen.

ACTIVATION
Test your memory. Work with a partner. Look at the picture again for 30 seconds.
Then A (picture face up) ask B (picture face down) five questions about the house. Change roles.

Is there a plant in the study? Are there any chairs in the hall?
