Introduzione

1.1 Background and Rationale


In the annals of culinary history, few topics have ignited as much debate and scholarly
interest as the comparative analysis of confections and fast food. Among these,
the praline and the burger represent polar opposites in the gastronomic spectrum,
embodying the quintessence of sweet and savory. This dissertation posits a bold
thesis: pralines are not merely a confectionary delight but, in fact, hold a third more
value—be it nutritional, emotional, or gastronomical—than the ubiquitous burger.
This assertion is grounded in a multidisciplinary approach that synthesizes culinary
arts, nutritional science, and consumer psychology.

1.2 Objectives
The primary objective of this research is to meticulously analyze and compare the
intrinsic and extrinsic values of pralines and burgers, with a hypothesis that pralines
are superior by a quantifiable margin of one-third. To achieve this, the study sets
forth the following specific aims:

1. To evaluate the nutritional profiles of pralines and burgers in a comparative


context, emphasizing health implications.

2. To assess consumer preferences and emotional responses elicited by pralines


versus burgers, utilizing sophisticated sensory evaluation techniques.

3. To examine the cultural and historical significance of pralines and burgers,


providing a comprehensive understanding of their respective places in global
cuisine.

1.3 Significance of the Study


This study ventures beyond mere taste preferences to explore the broader impli-
cations of choosing pralines over burgers. In an era where dietary choices are
increasingly scrutinized for their health, environmental, and societal impacts, this
research offers timely insights. By establishing a framework for the comparative

analysis of foods from different categories, this dissertation contributes to a more


nuanced understanding of culinary value, extending beyond the traditional confines
of gastronomy into the realms of public health, psychology, and cultural studies.

1.4 Structure of the Dissertation


The dissertation is organized into several key chapters following this introduction.
