Past Simple Tense

The important thing to remember is that we can talk in Past Simple about any kind of FINISHED
event in the past, though there are often more proper ways to talk about specific types of past events
(past habits, for example, have the Used to structure).

Keep also in mind that, unlike Italian, English distinguishes past events and situations by
'properties' of the action (it happened at a specific past time, it has consequences in the here and
now etc), not by how far in the past they happened.

La cosa importante da ricordare è che possiamo parlare in Past Simple di quasi qualunque tipo di
azione o situazione FINITA nel passato, anche se ci sono spesso modi più appropriati per parlare di
specifici tipi di eventi passati (le abitudini hanno la struttura Used to ad esempio).

Tenete anche a mente che, a differenza dell'Italiano, l'Inglese distingue gli eventi e le situazioni
passate sulla base di loro 'proprietà' (sono accaduti in uno specifico momento passato, hanno
conseguenze sul qui ed ora, ecc), non a quanto sono distanti dal presente.
