Salzburg and Hallein
Puch (elev. 446 m above the sea leavel) and the idyllic villa-
ge of St. Jakob (581 m) are both surrounded by magnificent
mountain scenery, located in the broad Salzach Valley only
10 km south of Salzburg, the “City of Mozart”.
The train and bus connections to Salzburg and Hallein are
perfect (only € 2,– with the Tennengau Card). The highway
exit Puch-Urstein invites for a short stay.
Romantic walks along the Salzach or a mountain hike is for
hiker, walker or nordic walker who will enjoy the silence.
Discover the region by bike, for example “Tauernradweg” or
the “Salt and Lake Tour”.
For entertainment there are different events in the new
“Jakobisaal” as well as the traditionell Austrian Evenings at
the Kirchenwirt.
Skiers like to come on weekends and explore the ski arena
“Sportwelt Amadé” (only 30 min on the highway).

lometri a sud di Salisburgo, città di Mozart. I collegamenti con
il bus e il treno locale (S-Bahn) per Salisburgo e Hallein sono
molto buoni (corse a solo € 1 per i titolari di tessera dell'ospi-
te). La comoda uscita autostradale Puch-Urstein rende il paese
adatto anche come punto tappa durante i viaggi. Chi ama fare
passeggiate, escursioni e nordic walking apprezza senz'altro
la pace e il silenzio che regnano sui romantici sentieri lungo
il fiume Salzach o sulle mulattiere che salgono alle malghe.
Esplorate i dintorni in bicicletta arrivando a Salisburgo lungo
la pianeggiante pista ciclabile dei Tauri oppure per il più
impegnativo Tour del Sale e dei Laghi (Salz- und Seen Tour).
Le serate non sono mai noiose grazie alle tante manifestazio-
ni culturali che si tengono nel nuovo salone Jakobisaal a St.
Jakob e alle allegre serate folcloristiche nella trattoria
Kirchenwirt. Molti sciatori vengono volentieri a Puch per il fine
settimana, e da qui vanno a sciare nel Mondo Sportivo Amadé
(30 minuti di viaggio in autostrada).

Enjoy emotional and impressive pre-Christmas atmosphere at the
famous Salzburg Christmas Market in front of the unique setting of
the Cathedral. A cup of mulled wine and hot sweet chestnuts will
put you in the right mood. In the evening experience Advent singing
in Salzburg’s large Festival Hall. A visit to Hallein’s old salt mine and
its Advent Market or St. Jakob am Thurn will round off your visit and
give it a special touch. Take a stroll through the Silent Night Museum
at Hallein and see how the composer Franz Xaver Gruber lived.

Gaissau/Hintersee (13 km away) offers a big choice of well-
prepared selective ski slopes (40km) for the whole family.
Efficient uplift capacities a boarder park and many cosy inns,
specializing in traditional home cooking with fair prices, recom-
mend this ski-region.
Hallein’s striking Zinkenkogel is a local favourite; the area is
not very big but it still offers good skiing and is very family
friendly. Snowmakers prolong the season.
