Electric motor.
An electric motor transforms electrical energy into mechanical energy
following the principle of electromagnetic reaction.
A motor is made up of several different pieces:
There is the armature, that consists essentially of coils of wire wrapped
around a metal core in which electric current is induced. Then there is the
axle, which is the central shaft of the motor structure, the stator which is the
part of the motor that does not move, and the last one is the rotor which is
the part that spins inside the motor. Lastly there are the commutator and the
brushes that are strictly linked together. The commutator is a ring of
contacts that turns different coils on and off as the armature of the motor
spins. While the brushes are the sliding contacts that make contact with the
commutator and conduct electric current to it.
