IMPERATIVO

affermativa sia negativa (Dedicate, Don’t try, Avoid, Make, Don’t give up,
Visualize...).
seguito dall’infinito senza to:
Go! Vai! Andate!
Don’t go! Non andare! Non andate!
Se nella frase negativa è presente l’avverbio never, il do non si inserisce:
Never lie!
senza to. Alla forma negativa si usa let’s not seguito dall’infinito senza to:
Let’s go! Andiamo!
Let’s not go! Non andiamo!

Traduci.

1) Sii coraggioso! Non ti preoccupare!

2) Non dimenticare i biglietti.

3) Gira a destra!

4) Non essere sciocco!

5) Andiamo al nuovo ristorante indiano.

6) Seguitemi!

7) Prendete un panino!

8) Sii onesto!

9) Servitevi pure.

10) Mai dire mai.

VOCABULARY 3.1

Why, that would really be worth while, aunt.

di Why potrebbe essere più chiaro se inteso come: "Why do you ask such an
obvious question?" oppure "Why do you need me to tell you?".

he has fallen into a consumption

racconto) significava tuberculosis of the lungs (polmoni).

His wife takes in sewing sometimes

and sometimes goes out washing).

COSTRUZIONE DI WANT

Abbiamo incontrato nell’articolo:

She didn’t want him to become complacent.
STESSO SOGGETTO Voglio andare = I want to go.
SOGGETTO DIVERSO Voglio che tu vada = I want you to go.
soggetto + verbo + complemento oggetto + infinito
Peter voleva che lei andasse via
Peter wanted her to leave

Traduci.

NOMI USATI COME AGGETTIVI

the school year l’anno scolastico

school years gli anni scolastici
London theatres i teatri di Londra
living rooms i soggiorni

POSSESSIVI

Abbiamo incontrato nell’articolo la frase:

A student of mine went to study in Liverpool.
determinativo (the), che quindi viene omesso:
il mio gatto = my cat e NON the my cat
of + pronome possessivo (mine, yours, his, hers. ours, yours, theirs):
un mio amico = a friend of mine e NON a my friend
La stessa costruzione è necessaria:
• con gli aggettivi dimostrativi (this, that, these, those):
questo mio amico = this friend of mine e NON this my friend
• con gli aggettivi indefiniti (some, any, no, many, few, a few...):
alcuni miei amici = some friends of mine e NON some my friends
• con gli aggettivi numerali (two, three, ten...):
tre miei amici = three friends of mine e NON three my friends

Completa usando colleague + of mine, yours...

1) I’m going out with that .

2) Have you met those ?
