The Focus of This Lesson Is on the Passato Remoto Tense of Third Conjugation Regular and Irregular Verbs. Ti ricordi cosa mi disse quella volta che la incontrai all'aeroporto? "Do you remember what she said to me that time I met her at the airport?"

While forming the passato remoto of third conjugation regular verbs, we must drop the infinitive stem and replace it with the following endings: (io) -ii, (tu) -isti, (lui/lei) -, (noi) -immo, (voi) -iste, and ( loro) -irono. For Example: capire ("to understand") Italian Io cap-ii Tu cap-isti Lui/Lei cap- Noi cap-immo Voi cap-iste Loro cap-irono "English" "I understood" "You understood" "He/She/It understood" "We understood" "You understood" "They understood"

Verbs belonging to the group -ire are mostly all regular; however, there are some common verbs that don't follow the pattern above, such as venire ("to come") (io venni, lui/lei venne) or dire ("to say"). For Example:

dire ("to say") Italian Io dissi Tu dicesti Lui/Lei disse Noi dicemmo "English" "I said" "You said" "He/she/it said" "We said"
