What are the assumptions usually made to get simplified analysis of line
performance?
Define dissipation factor of a dielectric.
Define standing wave in a line.

versus impedance ratio, (8)
Or
Derive the transmission line equation and obtain the solution of it. (16)Explain the parameters of the coaxial line at higher frequencies.
Or
Describe input impedance of open and short-circuited lines and plot
variation of input impedance of dissipationless line as a function of
length for open circuited and short circuited lines.
Explain how a tapped quarter-wave line is used as an impedance
transformer and also its application in matching a line to an antenna of
length
Or
Illustrate the applications of the Smith Chart.
Design a low pass filter (both z and T° sections) having a cut-off
frequency of 2 KHz to operate with a terminal load resistance of 500
Or
Discuss the theory of band elimination filter for both T and
configurations and also plot the variation of reactances with respect to
frequency.
Explain the theory of design of a lattice attenuator
Or
Each of the two series elements of a ‘T-type low pass filter consists of an
inductance of 30 mH having negligible resistance and a shunt element
having capacitance of 0.16 F, Calculate the value of cut-off frequency
and determine the iterative impedance and the phase shift of the
network at 2 KHz.
