Poiché฀le฀arti฀si฀influenzano฀a฀vicenda฀e฀si฀contaminano฀fra
loro,฀ Riccardo฀ passa฀ volentieri฀ della฀ pittura฀ alla฀ scultura.

Bustiers of Napoleonic Trumpeters

Some time ago in the magazine we presented the "portfolios" with the plates in a limited edition edited by Riccardo Cerilli and Stefano De Gioannis dedicated to Napoleonic era
uniforms (musicians, diggers helpers of the field).
Since the arts influence each other and contaminate each other, Riccardo willingly switches from painting to sculpture. After having drawn and painted the most varied subjects
of the nineteenth century on the basis of the research and studies of his friend Stefano, he put down the brushes and gave hand to spatulas and putty to make a 1/16 corset of a
sixth cavalry-lancer. regiment at Waterloo with a Polish-style chapska. The subject, inspired by a drawing by Jolly,
came out last November (22 euros) and immediately sold out; it was therefore decided to replicate the experience.
In fact, in the same 1/16 format, another four busts of trumpeters from the Napoleonic period will soon be relea-
sed, chosen from among those for which a uniformolo-
gical table had already been created. The bustiers, pro-
duced in a limited edition and marketed by Riccardo
Cerilli Sculptures, will be ready by the end of May,
with a special discount for those wishing to purchase
the complete series. The relative tables will also be
available, in reduced format, to be placed next to each
subject as a guide for painting.
Interested parties will be able to follow the evolution of
the project and place orders on the "Riccardo Cerilli
sculptures" Facebook site.
To see new portfolios with standard format tables like
those already made in the past we will have to wait a
little longer.

mente฀riferibili฀ad฀eventi฀bellici.฀Ebbene,฀sono฀felice฀oggi฀di฀poter฀scrivere฀di฀una฀serie฀di฀soggetti฀nuovi!!฀La฀ditta฀cine-
se฀Robotime฀è฀specializzata฀nella฀riproduzione฀in฀scala฀di฀ambienti฀civili฀di฀varia฀estrazione,฀ambienti฀casalinghi,฀por-

risulta฀facilitata฀da฀incastri฀semplici฀e฀da฀istruzioni฀intuitive.
In฀pochi฀minuti฀ho฀coinvolto฀mia฀figlia฀nella฀costruzione฀della฀panchina฀già฀verniciata฀e฀compresa฀nel฀kit฀che฀vedete
in฀foto,฀e฀che฀riproduce฀un฀piccolo฀giardino฀casalingo฀con฀tanto฀di฀lucernaio,฀vasi,฀e฀piante฀da฀ritagliare฀in฀carta..
Il฀catalogo฀offre฀tantissimi฀spunti฀e฀non฀dimentichiamo฀che฀possiamo฀donare฀luce฀alle฀nostre฀scene฀con฀un฀piccolo
impianto฀già฀presente฀nella฀scatola฀alimentato฀a฀pile฀da฀orologio.฀Una฀buona฀occasione฀per฀aprire฀il฀nostro฀mondo฀a
chi฀lo฀conosce฀poco฀e฀naturalmente฀a฀noi฀maschiacci฀che฀montiamo฀solo฀robe฀di฀motori฀o฀di฀guerra฀!

I have always reviewed, of course, products related to male modeling, after all we certainly cannot think that gentle ladies are,
except for some cases, attracted by scale reproductions of tanks, airplanes, or other subjects historically referable to war events.
Well, I'm happy today to be able to write about a series of new subjects !! The Chinese company Robotime specializes in the
scale reproduction of civil environments of various extraction, household environments, portions of rooms, shops and workshops
with an antique flavor. In a small cardboard box we find everything we need to build the environments, all winks at the green
world since they are recyclable materials such as wood, paper and pressed cardboard, the only thing in plastic is the vial of the glue, of course! Did you think that the necessary
equipment to assemble the kit was missing inside? But no, there is everything you need to complete the construction, which among other things is facilitated by simple joints and
intuitive instructions.
In a few minutes I involved my daughter in the construction of the already painted bench included in the kit you see in the photo, and which reproduces a small home garden
complete with a skylight, vases, and plants to cut
out of paper.
The catalog offers many ideas and let's not forget
that we can give light to our scenes with a small

l'Artiglieria฀ a฀ Cavallo฀ della฀ Guardia
Imperiale.฀Egli฀era฀sempre฀stato฀un฀sosteni-
tore฀dell'uso฀dell'artiglieria฀a฀cavallo,฀poiché
poteva฀riposizionare฀rapidamente฀i฀cannoni
ovunque฀fosse฀necessario฀sul฀campo฀di฀batta-
glia.
Questo฀ ufficiale฀ di฀ artiglieria฀ della฀ guardia
indossa฀ l’uniforme฀ del฀ 1815.฀ La฀ figura฀ di
Graham฀ Scollick฀ -฀ CGS฀ Military฀ è฀ stata
scolpita฀da฀Carl฀Reid.
La฀ figura฀ è฀ splendidamente฀ scolpita฀ e฀ fusa
senza฀ imperfezioni.฀ L’ufficiale฀ scende฀ una
leggera฀pendenza฀tenendo฀in฀mano฀un฀can-
nocchiale,฀come฀se฀cercasse฀il฀bersaglio฀suc-
cessivo฀per฀i฀suoi฀cannoni.
La฀figura฀è฀stata฀dipinta฀in฀acrilico,฀usando
principalmente฀Scalecolor฀e฀AK.฀Ho฀anche
usato฀inchiostri฀per฀artisti฀della฀Vallejo.
Mark฀Chestnutt Il฀ piedistallo฀ è฀ degli฀ Oakwood฀ Studios,฀ nel
Regno฀ Unito,฀ e฀ presenta฀ l'angolazione฀ per-

On 8 March 1802 the Horse Artillery of the


Imperial Guard was formed by decree of
Napoleon Bonaparte. He was a big believer in
using Horse Artillery as he could quickly reposi-
tion the guns wherever needed on the battlefield.

This is the 200mm Guard Artillery Officer
depicting the uniform of 1815. The figure from
Graham Scollick at CGS Military and sculpted
by Carl Reid.
The figure is beautifully sculpted and cast with
no imperfections. It’s posed as though stepping
down a slight incline whilst holding up a telesco-
pe as though looking for his guns next target.
The figure was painted in acrylics mainly
Scalecolor and AK. I’ve also used artists inks
from Vallejo.
The plinth is from Oakwood Studios, UK and
featured the perfect angle to replicate the grassy
banking.

vehicles. The conspicuous presence of "flat"
figures in the competition, as well as their high
quality, is to be considered one of the most
pleasant surprises, so much so as to make the
inclusion of a specific category or rather its
reintegration plausible in the future as it was
already present in the past but abandoned due
to the scarcity of the figures received in the
competition.
From the quantity and quality of the figures
entered, the organizers draw the greatest
encouragement to continue in the future. Of
course, seeing many model-making friends in
flesh and blood after two years of pandemic
highlighted how right the restart of the
Calenzano event was, while acknowledging the
fundamental role played in the meantime in
keeping the knots knotted even in "remote"
mode to the media and social networks. threads
of movement thus not dispersing all the ele-
ments of evolution and interaction.
It was therefore nice to have live confirmation
of how the research capacity and technical qua-
lity of the modeling world is constantly growing
thanks to the commitment of an increasing
number of enthusiasts.

Raffaele Aulicino of the MASC of Santa
Maria Capua Vetere, has given the appropria-
te awards to the "bigs" in competition who
have proposed very valuable works, while the
numerous competitors in the "base" category
have nevertheless shared a large number of
very prestigious prizes.
The usual Lifetime Achievement Award was
awarded to Roberto Boschian of the San
Giusto Modeling Club in Trieste, who has long
been a skilled model maker and talented orga-
nizer of exhibitions.
Unfortunately, the ever-increasing costs of
"travel" make it challenging to participate in
person in exhibitions for which one prefers to
entrust one's pieces to the "shuttles" organized
by individuals and associations. While on the
one hand we cannot ignore how much this
practice is meritorious and appreciated by every
organizer of competitions, on the other hand it
seems fair to state how to be able to participate
in person, see the models live, compare with
other enthusiasts and, why not, access at the
flea market, touching with hand and not just
seeing on a screen, maybe that of a smartpho-
ne, that's a whole other stuff.
In conclusion, from the organizers, thanks to
all those who make these events possible and
good vision of the images, that represent only a
part of what was exhibited in “Fragments of
history 2022”.

gna฀ ben฀ testimonia฀ le฀ difficoltà฀ incontrate
dal฀ Corpo฀ di฀ Spedizione฀ Sardo;฀ indossa
pastrano฀ e฀ stivali฀ dando฀ l’immagine฀ di฀ un
soldato฀sul฀campo฀con฀la฀fidata฀pipa,฀com-
pagna฀ silenziosa฀ e฀ calda฀ durante฀ le฀ pause
operative.
Il฀pezzo฀si฀presenta฀con฀tre฀teste฀indossanti฀i
rispettivi฀copricapi฀in฀uso฀ai฀reparti฀di฀caval-
leria฀in฀Crimea:฀kepì฀originale,฀ricoperto฀da
cerata฀e฀il฀berretto฀da฀fatica฀per฀ufficiali.฀Le
indicazioni฀ reggimentali฀ permetteranno฀ di
realizzare฀ cavalleggeri฀ di฀ Milano,฀ Lodi,
Montebello,฀ Firenze฀ e฀ Lucca,฀ formati฀ suc-
cessivamente฀ e฀ indicati฀ con฀ la฀ colorazione
valida฀sino฀al฀1860.
Il฀ berretto฀ da฀ fatica฀ permetterà฀ con฀ poche
modifiche฀la฀trasformazione฀del฀figurino฀in
un฀ cavalleggero฀ della฀ guerra฀ di฀ Secessione
americana.฀Il฀figurino฀viene฀fornito฀insieme
a฀un฀esauriente฀foglio฀di฀istruzioni,฀comple-
to฀di฀note฀storiche฀e฀indicazioni฀uniformo-
logiche.
A฀ completare฀ le฀ note฀ riferite฀ alle฀ uniformi
abbiamo฀pensato฀di฀aggiungere฀alcune฀tavo-
le฀a฀colori฀realizzate฀anni฀fa฀dal฀nostro฀com-
pianto฀ socio฀ Andrea฀ Bonardini,฀ testimone

50%, and a hint of medium Andrea brown.
For the highlights, I added a blend of Barbarian
flesh from Army Painter and beige from
Andrea, to which I added Vallejo white for
maximum highlights. For the shadows, I combi-
ned the base with a mix of Prussian blue,

black.
For the painting of the parts in golden fabric I
used a base of Vallejo brown ocher to which I
