Il mosaico è una strana somma d’arte, alto
artigianato e progetto industriale: un semplice
rivestimento intriso di storia e ricco di senso,
una contemporanea forma di comunicazione
per esprimere emozioni nel colore e nella
materia.
Il mosaico artistico trova posto nell’universo
Mosaico+ collocandosi nella punta più elevata
della personalizzazione e del prodotto di
prestigio. Affiancare tessere, assemblare
frammenti, selezionare materiali, adattare
la giusta forma al giusto spazio con sapiente
esperienza, sono le azioni che rendono unico
ed irripetibile il progetto che viene realizzato.
Un mosaico artistico non può che essere
fatto a mano, ma Mosaico+ ha integrato
l’artigianato alla tecnologia dotandosi di
strumenti informatici e avanzate procedure
caratteristiche del design industriale per
elaborare o sviluppare le richieste dei
committenti nella fase progettuale. Nasce così
ProgettoMosaico+, una sezione dedicata alle
realizzazioni nelle varie tecniche manuali di
mosaico artistico. La sede è a Spilimbergo
nel centro della tradizione e della cultura
millenaria del mosaico italiano.

Mosaico+
and the culture of mosaics
Mosaics is a unique combination of art,
fine craftsmanship and industrial design:
a simple covering steeped in history and
rich in meaning, a contemporary form of
communication to express emotions in colour
and in material.
Artistic mosaics finds a place of its own in
the Mosaico+ universe, offering only the
highest level of personalisation and products
of prestige. Juxtaposing chips, assembling
fragments, selecting materials, adapting an
ideal shape to a specific space with the utmost
expertise: these are the actions that make
each project created unique and unrepeatable.
An artistic mosaic can only be done by hand,
but Mosaico+ has succeeded in integrating
craftsmanship with technology, adapting
IT tools and advanced procedures typically
used in industrial design to elaborate or
develop requests made by clients during
the planning phase. This was the genesis
of ProgettoMosaico+, a section dedicated to
the creation of various manual techniques
for artistic mosaics. The headquarters are in
Spilimbergo (Italy), in the heartland of the age-
old tradition of Italian mosaics.

Das Mosaik ist eine merkwürdige Mischung
aus Kunst, Kunsthandwerk und
Industriedesign: ein einfacher Belag voller
Geschichte und reich an Substanz, eine
zeitgenössische Kommunikationsform,
die Gefühlen in Farbe und Material
Ausdruck verleiht.
Innerhalb des Universums von Mosaico+
nimmt das Kunstmosaik eine Spitzenposition
ein, da es in hohem Maße personalisierte
und prestigeträchtige Produkte bietet.
Mit Geschick und Erfahrung werden hier
Mosaiksteine aneinandergelegt, Scherben
zusammengesetzt, Materialien ausgewählt
und Formen und Flächen aufeinander
abgestimmt – Tätigkeiten, die das
umgesetzte Projekt einzigartig und
unwiederholbar machen.
Ein Kunstmosaik kann zwar nur von Hand
hergestellt werden, doch Mosaico+ hat
Kunsthandwerk und Technologie miteinander
verbunden: Durch die Anschaffung
rechnergestützter Werkzeuge und den Einsatz
moderner, für das Industriedesign typischer
Verfahren ist es möglich, die Anfragen
der Auftraggeber in der Planungsphase
auszuwerten oder auszuarbeiten. So
entstand die Abteilung ProgettoMosaico+,
die den Arbeiten in den verschiedenen
Handwerkstechniken des Kunstmosaiks
gewidmet ist. Sie hat ihren Sitz in
Spilimbergo (Italien), im Zentrum der
Jahrtausende alten Tradition und Kultur
des italienischen Mosaiks.

La mosaïque est une union insolite entre
l’art, le haut artisanat et le projet industriel :
un simple revêtement baigné d’histoire et de
significations, une forme contemporaine de
communication pour exprimer les émotions
de la couleur et de la matière.
Dans l’univers Mosaico+, la mosaïque
artistique se place au sommet de la
personnalisation et du prestige. Poser côte à
côte les tesselles, assembler les morceaux,
sélectionner les matériaux, adopter la forme
à l’espace avec classe et savoir-faire, autant
d’opérations qui donnent au projet un
caractère unique et sans égal.
Une mosaïque artistique est un produit
inévitablement fait main. Cependant,
Mosaico+ a su perfectionner l’artisanat
par la technologie, en intégrant des outils
informatiques et des procédés d’avant-garde,
typiques du design industriel, afin de préparer

cet effet, la division ProgettoMosaico+ a été
mise en place pour pratiquer les techniques
manuelles et créer ainsi la mosaïque

fragmentos, seleccionar materiales y adaptar
la forma adecuada al espacio oportuno, gracias
al saber hacer de la experiencia, son las
acciones que convierten el proyecto realizado

Un mosaico artístico no puede no hacerse
a mano; sin embargo Mosaico+ ha sabido
integrar la labor artesanal con la tecnología,
dotándose de herramientas informáticas y
avanzados procedimientos, propios del diseño
industrial, para, durante la fase de concepción
del proyecto, elaborar o desarrollar las
demandas de los clientes. Así es como nace
ProgettoMosaico+, un departamento dedicado
a la realización de mosaicos artísticos
siguiendo las diversas técnicas manuales. Su
sede se encuentra en Spilimbergo (Italia), en
el núcleo de la tradición y la cultura milenaria
del mosaico italiano.

Materiali
Smalto veneziano
è ottenuto dalla fusione in crogiolo ad oltre il
1400°C di sabbia silicea, soda e calce idrata. La
pasta di vetro fusa viene schiacciata con una
pressa e successivamente portata a ricottura per
poi raffreddarsi lentamente. Le piastre ottenute
risultano particolarmente lucide e brillanti ed i
colori, ottenuti dosando manualmente ossidi e
pigmenti naturali durante la fusione, possono
essere diverse migliaia.
Vetro
Tecnicamente il vetro è un fluido ad alta densità
viscosa, costituito da diverse materie prime quali
sabbia silicea, soda solvay, feldspato, nefelina
ecc... alle quali vengono aggiunti diversi ossidi
(borace, selenio cadmio...) a seconda dei colori e
delle finiture che si vogliono ottenere.
Prodotto industrialmente in grandi forni, il
mosaico vetroso può essere semitrasparente
o opaco. Rispetto agli smalti veneziani, si
possono ottenere quantità limitate di tonalità.
Le colorazioni più intense sono costituite
da vetro trasparente, mentre le gradazioni
più chiare si ottengono introducendo minor
quantità di colorante e cristallino bianco
che aumenta l’opacità.
Oro
Le tessere d’oro sono realizzate con un
procedimento industriale inserendo una foglia
d’oro normalmente a 24 carati tra due vetri
trasparenti. la lavorazione può produrre una
finitura liscia o ondulata. Le tessere possono
essere anche tagliate manualmente.
Pietre naturali
Marmo, pietre preziose o umili ciottoli... ogni
materiale lapideo viene selezionato sulla base
del colore e opportunamente sagomato con gli
strumenti manuali del mosaicista.
Altri materiali
Nel concetto stesso di mosaico c’è il principio
di assemblare materiali disomogenei; con la
tecnica del mosaico artistico tradizionale, e la
consulenza di un bravo maestro mosaicista, è
possibile accostare qualsiasi tipo di materiale per
un originale effetto visivo.

Materials
Venetian enamel
is obtained by the melting silica sand, soda, and
slaked lime in a crucible at more than 1400°C.
The melted glass paste is pressed and later
liquefied again so it can cool slowly. The plates
obtained are particularly glossy and bright and
the colours, obtained by manually dosing oxides
and natural pigments during the melting process,
can number in the thousands.
Glass
Technically glass is a high-density viscous
fluid made of a variety of raw materials, like
silica sand, soda, feldspar, nepheline etc...
to which different oxides are added (borax,
selenium, and cadmium...), depending on the
colours and finishes desired.
Produced industrially in large furnaces, vitreous
mosaics can be semi-transparent or opaque.
Compared to Venetian enamels, only a limited
number of hues can be obtained. The more
intense colours are those of transparent glass,
while the lighter shades are obtained by adding
smaller quantities of colouring and white
crystalline powder to increase the opacity.
Gold
Gold chips are created through an industrial
process that involves inserting a gold leaf,
normally 24-carat, between two transparent
glasses. This process may produce either a
smooth or wavy finish. The chips may also
be cut by hand.
Natural stone
Marble, precious stones, or simple pebbles...
each stone material is selected according to
its colour and suitably shaped with the master
mosaicists hand tools.
Other materials
The very concept of mosaics embraces the
principle of juxtaposing a variety of materials;
with the traditional artistic mosaic technique
and the advice of a master mosaicist, it is
possible to mix and match any type of material
for an original visual effect.
Materialien
Venezianische Smalten
Entstehen aus der Verschmelzung von Kieselsand,
Soda und Calciumhydroxid im Tiegel bei über 1400
°C. Die geschmolzene Glasmasse wird mit einer
Presse plattgewalzt und anschließend geglüht, bevor
sie danach langsam abkühlt. Die entstandenen
Platten sind besonders glänzend und brillant und
die Farben, die beim Schmelzen durch die manuelle
Dosierung von Oxiden und natürlichen Pigmenten
entstehen, können tausende verschiedene Nuancen
erhalten.
Glas
Technisch gesehen ist Glas eine viskose Flüssigkeit
hoher Dichte, die sich aus verschiedenen Rohstoffen,
wie Kieselsand, Solvay-Soda, Feldspat, Nephelin
etc. zusammensetzt, denen je nach gewünschtem
Farb- und Oberflächenresultat verschiedene Oxide
(Borax, Selen, Kadmium usw.) hinzugefügt werden.
Industriell in großen Öfen hergestellt, kann das
Glasmosaik semitransparent oder lichtundurchlässig
sein. Im Gegensatz zu venezianischen Smalten
kann nur eine begrenzte Anzahl an Farbtönen
erreicht werden. Bei durchsichtigem Glas entstehen
intensivere Farbgebungen, während hellere
Abstufungen durch die Verwendung kleinerer
Mengen an Farbe und kristallinem Weiß zur
Erhöhung der Opazität erzielt werden.
Gold
Goldsteine werden mit einem Industrieverfahren
hergestellt, bei dem eine Goldfolie von normalerweise
24 Karat zwischen zwei durchsichtige Gläser gelegt
wird. Mit der Bearbeitung lässt sich eine glatte oder
wellige Oberfläche herstellen. Die Mosaiksteine
können auch von Hand geschnitten werden.
Naturstein
Egal ob Marmor, Edelsteine oder einfache
Kieselsteine, jedes Steinmaterial wird anhand seiner
Farbe ausgewählt und mit den Handwerkzeugen des
Mosaikmeisters in die richtige Form gebracht.
Sonstige Materialien
Das Konzept des Mosaiks beinhaltet das Prinzip
der Vereinigung ungleicher Materialien; mit
der traditionellen Kunstmosaiktechnik und der
Beratung eines kompetenten Mosaikmeisters
lassen sich alle Materialtypen zu einem
originellen visuellen Effekt kombinieren.

Matériaux
Smalte vénitien
Le smalte vénitien est obtenu par la fusion, dans
un creuset, à plus de 1 400 °C, de sable siliceux,
de soude et de chaux éteinte. La pâte de verre en
fusion est comprimée par une presse, puis recuite
avant de refroidir lentement. Les galettes obtenues
sont particulièrement brillantes et éclatantes, et
les couleurs peuvent être pratiquement infinies,
parce que les oxydes et les pigments naturels sont
dosés manuellement pendant la fusion.
Verre
Sur le plan technique, le verre est un fluide
très visqueux à base de différentes matières
premières, comme le sable siliceux, la carbonate
de soude, le feldspath, la néphéline, etc., avec
adjonction de plusieurs oxydes (borax, sélénium,
cadmium, etc.) en fonction des couleurs et des
finitions souhaitées.
Fabriquée industriellement dans des grands fours,
la mosaïque de verre peut être semi-transparente
ou mate. Contrairement aux smaltes vénitiens,
l’éventail couleur est limité. Les colorations plus
intenses se basent sur le verre transparent, alors
que les nuances plus claires sont obtenues en
augmentant la matité par la diminution de la
quantité de colorant et de cristal blanc.
Or
Les tesselles d’or se basent sur un procédé
industriel qui consiste à ajouter une feuille d’or,
en principe de 24 carats, entre deux verres
transparents. Les tesselles peuvent avoir une
finition lisse ou ondulée. Les tesselles peuvent
aussi être découpées à la main.
Pierre naturelle
Marbre, pierres précieuses ou simples galets...
chaque matériau pierreux est sélectionné en
fonction de sa couleur ou façonné avec les outils
manuels du mosaïste.
Autres matériaux
D’après son concept, la mosaïque consiste en
un assemblage de matériaux hétérogènes. Avec
la technique de la mosaïque artistique et l’aide
d’un excellent maître mosaïste, tous les types de
matériaux peuvent être unis et mélangés pour
composer un effet visuel très original.
Materiales
Esmalte veneciano
Se obtiene a partir de la fusión en un crisol a más
de 1400 °C de arena silícea, sosa y cal hidratada.
La pasta de vidrio fundida se prensa, se somete
a nueva cocción y se deja enfriar lentamente.
Se obtienen unas hermosas lastras, de lo más
luminosas y brillantes, teñidas de miles de colores
conseguidos dosificando manualmente óxidos y
pigmentos naturales durante la fusión.
Vidrio
Técnicamente el vidrio es un fluido de alta densidad
viscosa, constituido por diversas materias primas como
arena silícea, sosa Solvay, feldespato, nefelina, etc. a las
que se agregan varios óxidos (bórax, selenio, cadmio...)
según los colores y acabados que se desee lograr.
Fabricado industrialmente en grandes hornos,
el mosaico vítreo puede ser semitransparente u
opaco. A diferencia de las que brindan los esmaltes
venecianos, infinitas, ofrecen una cantidad limitada
de tonalidades. Las coloraciones más intensas están
constituidas por vidrio transparente, mientras que
las gradaciones más claras se logran introduciendo
una menor cantidad de colorante y cristalino blanco,
que aumenta la opacidad.
Oro
Las teselas de oro se realizan siguiendo un
procedimiento industrial consistente en introducir una
lámina de oro, generalmente de veinticuatro quilates,
entre dos vidrios transparentes; la elaboración puede
dar lugar a acabados lisos u ondulados. Las teselas
también se pueden cortar manualmente.
Piedra natural
Ya se trate de mármol, ya de piedras preciosas, ya
de modestos guijarros, todos los materiales lapídeos
se seleccionan según su color y son debidamente
perfilados con las herramientas de uso manual del
maestro mosaiquista.
otros materiales
En el concepto mismo de mosaico se halla
implícito el principio de juntar materiales
heterogéneos; aplicando la técnica del mosaico
artístico tradicional, y con el asesoramiento de un
buen maestro mosaiquista, se pueden combinar
materiales de cualquier naturaleza y conseguir un
efecto visual de lo más original.

С технической точки зрения стекло - это очень
вязкое текучее вещество, состоящее из разных типов
сырья, таких как: кремниевый песок, аммиачная
сода, полевые шпаты, нефелин и т.д., к которым
добавляются различные оксиды (бура, селен,
кадмий...), в зависимости от цветов и отделки,
которые должны быть получены.
Промышленно производимая в больших печах,
стеклянная мозаика может быть полупрозрачной или
матовой. По сравнению с венецианской смальтой
может быть получено ограниченное количество
тонов. Наиболее насыщенные цвета получаются из
прозрачного стекла, в то время как более светлые
оттенки получаются введением меньшего количества
красителей и белого кристаллического кремния,
который повышает матовость.
золото
Золотые элементы выполняются в результате
промышленного процесса, помещая сусальное
золото, как правило, 24 карата, между двумя
прозрачными стеклами. Этот метод может
создавать две отделки: гладкую или волнистую.
Элементы можно разрезать даже вручную.
натуральный камень
Мрамор, драгоценные камни или же простая галька
- все камни отбираются по цвету и принимают
необходимую форму в ручных инструментах
мастера-мозаиста.

Концепция мозаики предусматривает принцип
сборки воедино неоднородных материалов.
Благодаря технике традиционной художественной
мозаики и консультации опытного мастера-
мозаиста можно совмещать любой тип
материала для получения оригинального
визуального эффекта.

Tessere irregolari tagliate manualmente
è considerata la tecnica più nobile del mosaico, dove con
sapiente maestria il mosaicista con il suo strumento, la
martellina, ottiene con precisione la forma esatta di ogni
singolo tozzetto di vetro.
Le tessere in genere sono realizzate in smalti veneziani ottenuti
dalla fusione del vetro in un crogiolo e dalla successiva
pressatura che trasforma la materia grezza in un arcobaleno
di dischi colorati. La gamma cromatica è praticamente infinita
e si distingue per la vivida brillantezza dei colori.
La tecnica artistica tradizionale consente di ottenere risultati
di grande valore e prestigio per l’accuratezza dei dettagli
figurativi, per il valore dell’interpretazione artigianale e per
l’unicità dell’opera realizzata. Il mosaico tradizionale può
essere eseguito in via indiretta, con lavorazione su carta a
rovescio a cui segue l’applicazione su parete o pavimento,
oppure in via diretta su un supporto definito o su rete in fibra
di vetro e successiva applicazione sul supporto finale.
Irregular hand-cut chips
this is considered the most noble of all mosaics, where the
master mosaicist wields his little hammer to obtain the precise
size and form of each piece of glass.
The chips are generally created in Venetian enamels,
obtained by melting the glass in a crucible and then pressing
it to transform the raw material into a rainbow of coloured
disks. The colour range is virtually infinite, while the colours
themselves are vividly brilliant.
The traditional artistic technique enables the mosaicist to
achieve results of great value and prestige, thanks to the
accuracy of the figurative details, the value inherent to the
craftsman’s artistic interpretation, and the uniqueness of the
work. The traditional mosaic can be created indirectly, by
working on a paper backing that is then applied onto the wall
or floor, or directly, onto a permanent support or glass fibre
mesh that is later applied to the final support.

Mosaiksteine
Hierbei handelt es sich um die edelste Mosaiktechnik, bei
welcher der Mosaikmeister mit Geschick und Können präzise
mit seinem Werkzeug, dem Hammer, die genaue Form jedes
einzelnen Glasstückchens erhält.
Die Steine werden in der Regel aus venezianischen Smalten
hergestellt, die aus der Verschmelzung von Glas in einem
Tiegel sowie der darauf folgenden Pressung entstehen, welche
das Rohmaterial in einen Regenbogen aus farbigen Scheiben
verwandelt. Die Farbpalette ist praktisch unbegrenzt und
zeichnet sich durch einen lebhaften Glanz der Farben aus.
Mit der traditionellen Kunsttechnik lassen sich hochwertige
Resultate erzielen, die sich durch die Genauigkeit der
bildlichen Details, die wertvolle kunsthandwerkliche
Interpretation und die Einzigartigkeit der erstellten Arbeit
auszeichnen. Das traditionelle Mosaik kann indirekt
ausgeführt werden, wobei das Mosaik zunächst umgekehrt
auf Papier aufgeklebt und anschließend auf die Wand oder
den Boden aufgebracht wird, oder es kann direkt auf einer
Unterlage oder einem Glasfasernetz und anschließend auf der
endgültigen Unterlage befestigt werden.
Tesselles irrégulières découpées à la main
Cette technique de mosaïque est considérée comme la plus
noble. Le mosaïste doit faire preuve d’une adresse extrême
et reproduire avec son outil, la marteline, la forme exacte de
chaque cabochon de verre.
En général, les tesselles sont fabriquées avec des smaltes
vénitiens, obtenus par la fusion du verre dans un creuset, puis
comprimés pour transformer la matière brute en un arc-en-ciel
de galettes colorées. L’éventail couleur est pratiquement infini,
et il se distingue par l’extraordinaire éclat des couleurs.
La technique artistique traditionnelle garantit des résultats
de grande valeur et de grande classe. La mosaïque présente
une composition figurative parfaite dans les moindres détails,
une interprétation artisanale impeccable et une très grande
originalité. La mosaïque traditionnelle peut être réalisée
indirectement, avec préparation sur l’envers du papier, puis
avec l’application sur mur ou sur sol, ou directement sur
un support défini ou sur un filet en fibre de verre, puis avec
l’application sur le support final.

Se considera la más noble de las técnicas musivas: empleando
con sabia maestría su herramienta, la martellina, el
mosaiquista recorta con precisión la forma exacta de cada
una de las piezas de vidrio.
Las teselas en general están hechas de esmaltes venecianos
obtenidos a partir de la fusión del vidrio en un crisol y de su
posterior prensado, que transforma el material basto en un
arco iris de discos de colores.
La gama cromática es prácticamente infinita y se distingue
por la viva brillantez de los colores. La técnica artística
tradicional permite conseguir resultados de gran valor y
prestigio por la precisión de los detalles figurativos, por el
valor de la interpretación artesanal y por el carácter único de
la obra realizada. El mosaico tradicional se puede realizar de
manera indirecta, trabajándolo vuelto del revés sobre papel
para después aplicarlo a la pared o el pavimento, o bien de
forma directa, colocado sobre un soporte definido o sobre red
en fibra de vidrio para después fijarlo al soporte definitivo.

Una tecnica che affonda le sue radici nelle opere edilizie
romane. Le tessere che compongono il mosaico sono
in pasta di vetro nel formato industriale che vengono
tagliate manualmente con una pinza speciale a metà
ed in quarto secondo percentuali stabilite. I colori sono
limitati alla gamma della produzione standard, quindi la
realizzazione, pur ricca di dettagli, risulta più economica
rispetto alla tecnica tradizionale. I frammenti vengono
assemblati seguendo l’andamento del disegno su fogli di
carta in dimensioni variabili, numerati e tagliati. Il piano
di posa, elaborato dal software, fornisce tutte indicazioni
per ottenere una realizzazione a regola d’arte.

A technique that is deeply rooted in the construction
works of ancient Romans. The chips that make up the
mosaic are in glass paste in an industrial format and then
cut by hand with special pliers into halves or quarters,
according to specific proportions. The colours are limited
to the standard range of production, so the final effect is
somewhat economic compared to traditional technique,
although rich in detail. The fragments are assembled
according to the drawing on sheets of paper of various
sizes, which are then cut and numbered. The layout plan,
processed by the software, provides all the indications
necessary to obtain a state-of-the-art creation.

Eine Technik, die auf römische Bauwerke zurückgeht.
Die Steine dieses Mosaiks bestehen aus Glasmasse im
Industrieformat und werden mit einer Spezialzange von
Hand geschnitten und zu festgelegten Anteilen halbiert
und geviertelt. Die Farben sind auf das Standardsortiment
begrenzt, wodurch die Herstellung günstiger ist als bei
der traditionellen Technik, ohne jedoch an Detailreichtum
einzubüßen. Die Scherben werden entsprechend dem
Entwurf auf nummerierten und zugeschnittenen
Papierbögen unterschiedlicher Größe verklebt. Der von der
Software erstellte Verlegeplan enthält alle Angaben für
eine kunstgerechte Gestaltung.

L’opus incertum est une technique de maçonnerie de la
Rome antique. Les tesselles de la mosaïque sont des tesselles
industrielles en pâte de verre, découpées manuellement en deux
avec une pince spéciale, et en quatre selon les pourcentages
déterminés. Les couleurs sont limitées à celles de la production
standard. Par conséquent, même si les détails sont nombreux, la
réalisation est plus économique que la technique traditionnelle.
Les morceaux sont assemblés d’après la forme du dessin, sur des
feuilles de papier de différents formats, numérotées et découpées.
Le schéma de pose préparé par ordinateur fournit toutes les
instructions pour garantir un projet dans les règles de l’art.
Teselas cuadradas o rectangulares cortadas a mano
a partir de teselas fabricadas industrialmente.
Una técnica que hunde sus raíces en las obras de construcción
de la antigua Roma. Las teselas que componen el mosaico,
de pasta de vidrio, se presentan en el formato industrial en el
que son cortadas con unas tenazas especiales, por la mitad o
en cuartos, de acuerdo con unos porcentajes establecidos. Los
colores se circunscriben a la gama de fabricación estándar,
por lo que la elaboración, aun abundando en detalles, resulta
más económica que la técnica de realización tradicional. Los
fragmentos se juntan siguiendo la pauta del dibujo estampado
sobre folios de papel de dimensiones variables, numerados y
cortados. El plan de colocación, elaborado por el programa
informático, proporciona todas las indicaciones necesarias
para conseguir una realización perfecta.

I mosaici realizzati con questa tecnica sono composti da
tessere quadrate tagliate a mano in forme irregolari di circa
10x10mm in materiale vetroso. La gamma cromatica è limita-
ta alla produzione industriale delle tessere, garantendo però la
definizione dei dettagli dell’immagine rappresentata.
Anche in questo caso il mosaico è incollato su fogli di carta
numerati di dimensioni variabili secondo una trama irregolare
e seguendo l’andamento del disegno da riprodurre.

The mosaics created with this technique are made of square
chips cut by hand. Although slightly irregular, they measure
about 10x10mm, and are made of a glassy material. The
colour range is limited to the industrial production of the
chips, but the definition of the details of the image depicted is
guaranteed.
Also in this case, the mosaic is glued onto numbered sheets of
paper of various sizes, according to an irregular pattern and
following the contours of the design to be reproduced.

définition des détails est garantie.
Dans ce cas également, la mosaïque est collée sur des feuilles
de papier numérotées de différents formats, avec une trame
irrégulière et selon le dessin reproduit.

Los mosaicos realizados aplicando esta técnica se componen
de teselas cuadradas cortadas a mano de formas irregulares,
de 10 x 10 mm aproximadamente, de material vítreo. La gama
cromática, sin menoscabar la resolución en los detalles de la
imagen representada, se circunscribe a la de la producción
industrial de las teselas.
También en este caso, el mosaico se halla pegado a folios de
papel numerados de dimensiones variables en función de una
trama irregular y siguiendo la guía del dibujo a reproducir.

È una tecnica di assemblaggio di tessere in vetro prodotte
industrialmente montate su una griglia ortogonale su rete o
su carta. La trama consente di trasformare in mosaico un di-
segno geometrico, figurativo o una fotografia con l’esperienza
di un maestro mosaicista e l’utilizzo di una sofisticata tecnica
computerizzata di elaborazione di immagini.
Il software permette di elaborare il progetto, trasformando un
disegno o un soggetto fotografico in mosaico. Le tessere pos-
sono essere di diverse dimensioni: 10x10, 15x15, 20x20, ma
anche 23x23mm. Ovviamente più la dimensione aumenta,
meno dettagliato sarà il risultato finale.
Il processo si svolge attraverso la lettura iniziale del bozzetto.
L’immagine viene elaborata dal computer: i pixel dell’imma-
gine si tramutano nelle tessere di mosaico del campionario
cromatico che si ha a disposizione. Esaminando i particolari
ingranditi è possibile apportare qualsiasi variazione, anche di
colore e stampare una mappa del mosaico. Attraverso questo
sistema di simulazione è possibile, quindi, vedere il risultato
dell’opera musiva prima della sua realizzazione.
Per ottenere un buon risultato, bisogna ricordare che :
- le dimensioni del pannello in mosaico dovranno aumentare
in proporzione alla quantità di particolari del soggetto da
riprodurre;
- la distanza di lettura ottimale dovrà consentire una chiara
visione d’insieme del soggetto realizzato. Aumentando le
dimensioni dello stesso, dovrà proporzionalmente crescere
anche la distanza da cui il mosaico verrà visto;
- l’immagine da elaborare dovrà essere perfettamente definita
nei colori e nelle linee.
Il mosaico è sempre fornito incollato su fogli di carta numerati,
di dimensioni a seconda del formato scelto, corredato da uno
schema di posa.

Square glass chips
This is a technique for assembling the glass chips that are
produced industrially and assembled on a mesh grid or on
paper. The pattern makes it possible to transform a geometric
or figurative design or a photograph into a mosaic with the
experience of a master mosaicist and the use of a sophisticated
computerised image-processing technique.
This software enables the project to be realised, transforming
a drawing or a photographic subject into a mosaic. The
chips may be of different sizes: 10x10, 15x15, 20x20, or even
23x23mm.
Obviously, the larger the chips, the less detail will be evident in
the final result.
The process begins with the initial reading of the sketch.
The image is processed by the computer: the pixels of the
image are transformed into the mosaic chips of the chromatic
samples available.
By examining the enlarged details, it is possible to make any
variation, even in colour,
and print a map of the mosaic. This simulation system there-
fore makes it possible to see the final result of this work of art
before it is actually created.
In order for this process to yield the best results possible, it
must be remembered that:
- the dimensions of the mosaic panel must increase in propor-
tion to the quality of the details of the subject to be depicted;
- the optimal viewing distance must allow the spectator to
take in the entire subject in a glance. If the dimensions of the
subject are increased, the distance from which the mosaic is
observed must also increase proportionately;
- the image to be created must be perfectly defined in both
colours and lines.
The mosaic is always delivered glued onto numbered sheets
of paper, sized according to the selected format. It also comes
complete with installation instructions
Quadratische Glasmosaiksteine
Hierbei handelt es sich um eine Technik zur Verlegung von
industriell hergestellten Glasmosaiksteinen, die auf einem
rechtwinkligen Netz oder Papier befestigt sind. Mit der
Erfahrung eines Mosaikmeisters und dem Einsatz einer ausge-
feilten Computertechnik zur Bildbearbeitung lässt sich dank
des Gewebes ein geometrisches, figürliches oder fotografiertes
Bild in ein Mosaik verwandeln.
Die Software ermöglicht die Bearbeitung des Projekts, indem
sie ein Bild oder eine Fotografie in ein Mosaik verwandelt.
Die Mosaiksteine können verschiedene Abmessungen haben:
10x10, 15x15, 20x20, jedoch auch 23x23 mm.
Je größer die Abmessungen, umso weniger detailliert fällt
natürlich das Endergebnis aus.
Bei dem Verfahren wird zunächst der Entwurf eingelesen.
Das Bild wird vom Computer bearbeitet: Die Pixel des Bildes
verwandeln sich in die Mosaiksteine der zur Verfügung
stehenden Farbkarte.
Bei der Durchsicht der vergrößerten Details können beliebige
Änderungen, auch Farbänderungen, vorgenommen
und ein Plan des Mosaiks gedruckt werden. Mit diesem
Simulationssystem ist es daher möglich, das Ergebnis der
Mosaikarbeit vor ihrer Umsetzung zu sehen.
Damit dieser Prozess zu einem guten Ergebnis führt, muss
Folgendes beachtet werden:
- Die Abmessungen der Mosaikplatte müssen in proportio-
nalem Verhältnis zur Anzahl der Details im abzubildenden
Objekt stehen.
- Der optimale Leseabstand muss eine deutliche Gesamtsicht
des abgebildeten Objekts gewährleisten. Je größer das Objekt,
umso größer muss auch der zum Betrachten des Mosaiks
vorgesehene Abstand sein.
- Die Farben und Linien des zu bearbeitenden Bildes müssen
genau definiert sein.
Das Mosaik wird stets im gewählten Format auf nummerierten
Papierbögen aufgeklebt und mit einem Verlegeplan geliefert.

Des tesselles carrées de verre

industriellement. Avec l’expérience et le savoir-faire d’un
maître mosaïste d’une part, et avec la sophistication technique
d’un traitement d’images par ordinateur de l’autre, la trame
transforme, en mosaïque, une forme géométrique, une compo-
sition figurative ou une photo.
Le logiciel convertit un dessin ou le sujet d’une photo en mo-
saïque. Les tesselles peuvent être de plusieurs tailles : 10x10,
15x15, 20x20 et 23x23 mm.
Bien évidemment, plus le format est grand, moins le résultat
final est détaillé.
Le procédé de transformation commence par la lecture du
croquis. L’image est ensuite traitée par ordinateur : les pixels
de l’image se métamorphosent en tesselles de mosaïque dans
le nuancier disponible.
Après l’agrandissement des détails, des variations, même de
couleur, peuvent être apportées.
Un plan de la mosaïque peut alors être imprimé. Ce système
de simulation permet donc de visualiser le résultat du projet
mosaïque avant sa réalisation.
Pour obtenir un bon résultat, il faut se rappeler que :
- les dimensions du panneau de mosaïque devront augmenter
proportionnellement à la quantité des détails à reproduire ;
- la distance de lecture optimale devra garantir une vision
d’ensemble claire du sujet réalisé. Si les dimensions du sujet
augmentent, la distance de lecture optimale augmentera
proportionnellement ;
- les couleurs et les contours de l’image à reproduire devront
être parfaitement définis.
La mosaïque est toujours collée sur des feuilles de papier
numérotées, dont les dimensions dépendent du format choisi.
Un schéma de pose est également fourni.
Teselas cuadradas de vidrio
Se trata de una técnica de ensamblaje de teselas de vidrio
fabricadas industrialmente y montadas sobre una parrilla or-
togonal sobre malla o papel. La trama permite transformar en
mosaico cualquier dibujo geométrico, figurativo o fotografía
con la experiencia de un maestro mosaiquista y la utilización
de una sofisticada técnica computarizada de procesamiento
de imágenes.
El programa informático permite elaborar el proyecto transfor-
mando en mosaico cualquier dibujo o imagen fotográfica. Las
teselas pueden ser de varias medidas: de 10 x 10, de 15 x 15,
de 20 x 20 e incluso de 23 x 23 mm.
Obviamente, cuanto mayor sea el tamaño menos detallado
será el resultado final.
El procedimiento se desarrolla a través de la lectura inicial
del boceto. El ordenador procesa la imagen convirtiendo los
píxeles que la componen en teselas de mosaico del muestrario
cromático que se tiene a disposición.
Examinando los detalles aumentados se puede introducir toda
suerte de variación, incluso de color,
e imprimir un mapa del mosaico. A través de este sistema de
simulación, por tanto, se puede ver el resultado de la obra
musiva antes de su realización material.
Para que todo el proceso pueda desembocar en un resultado
satisfactorio habrá que atenerse a varias condiciones:
- las medidas del panel del mosaico deberán incrementarse
de manera proporcional a la cantidad de detalles de la figura
que se quiera reproducir;
- la distancia de lectura ideal deberá permitir una visión
clara del conjunto de la figura realizada; la distancia desde
que la que se verá el mosaico deberá incrementarse de modo
proporcional a las medidas de la figura;
- la imagen que se vaya a procesar tendrá que mostrar unos
colores y unas líneas perfectamente definidos.
El mosaico se suministra siempre pegado a folios de papel nu-
merados, de las medidas correspondientes al formato elegido,
acompañado de un esquema de colocación.

Crono di Giugiaro Design
Crono è una collezione ad alta tecnologia, firmata Giugiaro
Design, indissolubilmente intrecciata al design industriale: le
tessere sono tridimensionali in vetro sinterizzato, con le quali è
possibile comporre decori modulari o figurativi con i medesimi
software utilizzati per il mosaico computerizzato. Per alcune
tipologie di layout non è prevista la stuccatura. Le tessere sono
quadrate, collezione Nova, o rettangolari collezione Pulsar.
Il mosaico è sempre fornito incollato su fogli numerati
corredato da uno schema di posa.

Crono is a high-tech collection, styled by Giugiaro Design,
indissolubly interwoven with industrial design: the
three-dimensional sintered glass chips can be used to create
modular patterns or figurative decorations, using the same
software as for computerised mosaics. For some types of
layout, no grouting is required. Chips may be square from the
Nova or rectangular from the Pulsar collections.
The mosaic is always delivered glued onto numbered sheets. It
also comes complete with installation instructions.
