Vicino una Barra con liscrizione arcenzios, nella cui
descrizione si legge : stessa provenienza dello Zeus?

Pi in dettaglio sembra che la statuetta ( e la barra?)

provenga dalla localit Vulcano del Peglio di Firenzuola,
posto sullantica strada etrusca che scendeva nella valle
del Santerno, dal Passo dellOspedaletto (poi Passo
dellOsteria Bruciata), passando da Roncopiano e passato il
Santerno, risaliva poi al Peglio e Pietramala, poi valicava il
Colle di Canda e passando dal Sasso di San Zanobi per
raggiungere la Valle dellIdice dove esistevano gli abitati
etruschi di Monte Bibele e Monterenzio (BO).

Ospedaletto in una carta del 500

Tinia o Vertumna la massima divinit etrusca,

corrispondente a Zeus e a Giove. Spesso rappresentata con
la barba, mentre pi raro vederla rappresentata con un
aspetto giovanile. Il suo attributo distintivo la folgore,
specie di fulmini da lui scagliati. Oltre alla folgore, pu
portare anche uno scettro, talvolta simile a un tridente.

Domenico Giordano Venuti (Cortona 1663

Firenze 1729) di nobile famiglia di origine Longobarda,
stato un personaggio importante di Cortona tra il XVII e
XVIII secolo, laureatosi a Pisa in diritto diviene giudice a
Genova, nelle legazioni pontificie d' Urbino e di Bologna,
quindi a Siena ed a Firenze col titolo d'auditore di Rota,
infine nel 1718 nominato auditore fiscale della Toscana,
carica di grande importanza. Da sempre interessato alle
opere darte ed allarcheologia educher in tal senso i suoi
tre nipoti, che una volta rientrati a Cortona, saranno tra i
fondatori dellaccademia etrusca (1727).

I fuochi di Pietramala
Per molti secoli fu creduto
che i terreni ardenti
costituissero la bocca di un
vulcano nascosto fra le
viscere della terra. Attorno ai
fuochi sono stati rinvenuti in
passato monete d'oro, idoli e
amuleti pagani, gettati probabilmente dai viandanti come
doni propiziatori vicino a questi spiragli dell'Inferno. Pare
che le sorgenti dei fuochi fossero localizzate in quattro
differenti punti, tutti situati nelle vicinanze di Pietramala, e
conosciuti con il nome di Fuoco del Legno, Fuoco del
Peglio, Acqua Buia e Canida.
Questo fino al novembre del 1939 quando fu inaugurato il
primo gasdotto che portava a Firenze il gas estratto a
Pietramala.

The young Etruscan Zeus of Firenzuola
In the Museum of the Etruscan Academy and the City of Cortona, this
small statue of Etruscan bronze, from Peglio - Firenzuola, is preserved in the
Baldelli room.
This is the description that presents it:

Restoration of 1728
Gift of Domenico Girolamo Venuti (1666-1729) tax auditor of the Grand Duke
From 1718 he was educator of his grandchildren Marcello, Ridolfino and
Filippo Venuti.

Near a Bar with the inscription arcenzios', in the description of which

reads: the usual origin of Zeus?

More in detail it seems that the small statue (and the bar?) Comes from the
"Vulcano" Peglio di Firenzuola, located on the ancient Etruscan road that
descended into the Santerno valley, the Ospedaletto Pass (then the Pass of
the Osteria Bruciata) Passing through Roncopiano and crossing the river
Santerno, then climbing to Peglio and Pietramala, then going through the
Colle di Canda and passing through the Sasso di San Zanobi to reach the
Idice River Valley where there were Etruscan villages of Monte Bibele and
Monterenzio (BO) .

Tinia or Vertumna is the highest Etruscan divinity, corresponding to Zeus and

Jupiter. Often represented with beard, while it is rarer to see it represented
with a youthful appearance. Its distinctive attribute is the lightning, especially
lightning strikes. In addition to the lightning, it can also bring a scepter,
sometimes similar to a trident.

Domenico Giordano Venuti (Cortona 1663 Florence 1729) of noble family of

origin Longobarda, was an important character of Cortona between the
seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, graduating in Pisa as a law judge
in Genoa, in the papal legacies of Urbino and Bologna, Then in Siena and
Florence with the title of auditorium of Rota, finally in 1718 is appointed
tax auditor of Tuscany, which is of great importance. He has always been
interested in art and archeology, so his three grandchildren, who once
returned to Cortona, will be among the founders of the Etruscan Academy
(1727).

The fires of Pietramala

For many centuries it was believed that the ardent soils formed the mouth of
a volcano hidden within the bowels of the earth. Around the fires, gold coins,
pagan idols and amulets have been found in the past, probably cast by
travelers as propitiatory gifts near these "spiragli di inferno". It seems that the
sources of the fires were located in four different points, all located near the
Pietramala, and known as the Fire of the Wood, the Fire of the Peglio, the
Buia Acqua and Canida.
This was until November 1939 when the first gas pipeline was brought to
Florence to extract the gas extracted from Pietramala
