Survivors include a brother, Jesse, of Los, Angeles; Galif,, sister, Mrs. Lena Bridge: De Noma of. Belle Plaine, a grand daughter, Mrs. Earl (Lavona) Fickess, and a great grandson, Edward Fickess, both of Cedar Falls. | He was preceded in death by his wife, who died July 15, 1950, their daughter, Mrs. Ed (Jerrine) Reid, who died Jan. 80, 1948, two brothers, Joseph Sherman and George ‘Shugart, a sister, Mrs. Lucinda Evaline Boyer, a half-brother, Kelita Shugart; and a half-sister, Mrs. Laura Belle Beale. _ Funeral. services were. held at Hrabak’s Funeral Home_in Chelsea Saturday at 2 p.m. Rev. E. F. Polson of Haven church officiated. Gasket -bearers were ‘Frank Johns- ton, Joseph Benésh, Emil D. Vavra, ‘Walter. Rich, Charles P. Swalm, and Glen Norell. © S : _ Interment was’ in Rector cemetery south; of Chelsea: /4 av, ee | Wirs., ohugart, 69, Dead; Was ll Two Years (Chelsea News) Mrs. Mery Kensinger, Shugart, 69 Marshalltown, who was ill of diabetes, lied early Saturday morning at the Lawless Convalescent Home in Tama. She had been a patient there for two years. Funeral services were held Sunday ai he Hrabak Funeral Home with Rev. Cc. F. Polson of the Haven Community shurch in charge. Burial was in Rector cemetery south of Chelsea. Mrs. Shugart is survived by her hus- sand, L. D. Shugart of Chelsea, a sis- ter, Miss Ida Kensinger of Tama and a sranddaughter, Mrs. Carl Fickess, and 1 grandson, Edward Fickess, both of Cedar Falls. A daughter, Jerrine Reid oreceeded her in death. Pallbearers were Roy Ryan, E. D. Vavra, C. P. Swalm, C. L. C. F. -elson, pastor of the Haven Commun- ty Church, officiating. Pall bearers were Emil D. Vavyra, Roy R. oh Charles P. Swalm, Jo- eph Benesh, Edward Johnston, and Slarence Kenner. Burial was in Rector cemetery south yf Chelsea. Mrs. Shugart died of a heart: ail- nent at 5 a.m. Saturday, July 15, 1950, 1t the Lawless convalescent home in| [ama where she had been a diabetic-| satient for a year. As Mary Kessinger, daughter of Wm. and Mary Kessinger, she was yorn Aug. 20, 1879, in Columbia town- ship, south of Tama, Ia. Her marriage io L.. D. Shugart occurred May 1,| 1901, at Elberon.. The couple lived in Chelsea following their marriage. Later, Mrs. Shugart made her home in Marshalltown for 28 years where she was employed in the factory of the Marshall Canning Company until her nealth failed. Surviving are the husband, L. D. Shugart of Chelsea; a sister, Mrs. Ida Simmert of Tama; a granddaughter, Mrs. Lavone Fickiss, and a great grandson, Edward Fickiss, both of Cedar Falls; and the following neph- ews and nieces: Ralph Shaw, Leonard Shaw, Lawrence Shaw, Clifford Shaw, Mrs. Earl Doran and Mrs. Elsie Jor- jan, all of Tama, and Miss Austie Shaw of Boone. Mrs. Shugart was preceded i in death by an only daughter, Mrs. Edward (Jerrine) Reid, on Jan, 30, 1948, in Chi- cago; and 3 sisters and a brother.
