It was explained he would serve as Execu~ tive Secretary for the Tobacco Industry Research Comaittee. 4, Me. Cullean, Treasurer, reported on finances of the Tobacco Industry : Research Committee and explained that signatures of the Chairman, Vice Chairman and Treasurer are required on all expenditures. This document will be made available, as soon as possible, to all people seeking information on the subject. 7. Me, Kolodny, President of the National Association of Tobacco Dis- tributors, had mace known to some meabers of the Committee his in- tention to have sone speaker at the coming convention of his organi zation to discuss the widely circularized claims concerning cigarette smoking and health, which occasioned the recent publication by this Comittee, It the sense of the meeting that the Comittee could have no connection with dings of Mr. Kolodny's convention, but that the meabers of the CTR 6191 CTR MN 013269 REPORT ON MEETING 1/16/34 Industry Technical Committee would be free on their own responsibility to wake any suggestion of names that they might desire to Kr. Wr, Kolodny had aade the suggestion to effectuate the distribution of a million reprints of the Committee's advertisenent through the agency of Ais organization, It was considered that this was not an appropr: tivity for the Comittee and that the instrumentelities that were ted to be exployed were not appropria ‘The following program projects were discussed and treated as follows. Committee Information Service -- Hill and Knowlton will make available to the Committee such information as ‘they may gather that 1s pertinent to the Comite objectives.
