SINOSSI

Elisa, seduta davanti all’ingresso del Museo Deleddiano, aspetta l’arrivo di Chiara.
Nel giardino del Museo, che una volta era la sua casa, la giovane Grazia Deledda
lancia tristemente in aria le pagine del suo ultimo manoscritto. Passato, presente
e futuro si incontreranno con la grazia femminile di una visione.

NOTE DI REGIA

Il film prende spunto da “La via del male”, uno dei primi romanzi di Grazia
Deledda, vincitrice del Premio Nobel per la Letteratura nel 1926. Il libro fa da
sfondo a un incontro fuori dal tempo tra Elisa e Chiara, due ragazze dei giorni
nostri, e la scrittrice nuorese, ancora giovane. Le parole del romanzo catturano
le protagoniste che a loro volta le reinterpretano disegnandole, riscrivondole,
recitandole, sognanandole. Realtà e immaginazione si fondono in un gioco le
cui regole si ispirano alle principali caratteristiche del libro: l’amore, la passione
per le cose vere, quelle sofferte e desiderate, quelle che la stessa giovane
Grazia ancora non riusciva a ottenere ma per le quali aveva deciso di lottare.
Contro il provincialismo chiuso e le convenzioni sociali, contro un mondo che
soffoca i sogni di tutte quelle donne divise tra desiderio e rassegnazione. Donne
determinate e passionali, costrette a una continua lotta con se stesse dalla
società bigotta in cui vivono, che si esprimono talvolta attraverso una esplosione
di sensualità primitiva e selvaggia. E come forse la giovane Grazia chiudeva gli
occhi al mondo circostante per sognare i suoi personaggi e le sue storie, così
Elisa e Chiara, nel film, chiudono gli occhi per poter rinnovare quegli stessi sogni
con la propria immaginazione, in quel rapporto reciproco che solo la grande
letteratura può intrattenere coi lettori di ogni tempo. Nel corso del film, i riferimenti
spazio temporali abituali si disperdono progressivamente, chi sogna è a sua
volta sognato, Elisa e Chiara immaginano Grazia Deledda nel passato e Grazia
Deledda immagina le due ragazze nel futuro. Le lettrici immaginano la scrittrice
e la scrittrice le lettrici. Il montaggio ci racconta un incontro che può avvenire
solo nel campo della finzione ma che paradossalmente esprime la ricerca delle
autentiche emozioni dell’artista nell’atto del creare l’opera e del pubblico nell’atto
di riceverla, entrambi attraverso l’immaginazione.

FRANCESCO PIRISI

Francesco nasce a Nuoro il 25 Agosto del 1980.

Si diploma al Liceo Psico-pedagogico della sua città natale. Nel 2001 si
trasferisce a Roma per studiare cinema, frequentando i corsi di recitazione della
NUCT (Nuova Università del Cinema e della Televisione) a Cinecittà. Nel 2007
inizia a scrivere e dirigere cortometraggi. Gli ultimi tre cortometraggi sono: FIZOS
(2016) prodotto dall’ISRE e selezionato al Babel Film Festival (edizione 2017) e
al Sardinia Film Festival (edizione 2016); DOVE SONO (2017) prodotto da ONE
WAY e selezionato al Sardinia Film Festival (edizione 2018); WARLORDS (2018)
prodotto da ONE WAY, distribuito da OLBIA FILM NETWORK e vincitore del
“Premio Moviementu”, del “Premio Sardegna Teatro” presso il concorso Premio
Centottanta 2018 e del premio “Best Regional Film” presso il Figari Film Festival
2019. Inoltre, dal 2016 al 2018 ha curato la rassegna cinematografica “CineMan”
per il MAN_Museo d’Arte Provincia di Nuoro. Sempre per il MAN realizza il
cortometraggio “Kino revolutia - Cinema della Rivoluzione e Rivoluzione del
Cinema” proiettato in sequenza al Museo durante la mostra “Amore e rivoluzione”
(2017).

SYNOPSIS

Elisa, sitting in front of the entrance of the Grazia Deledda Museum, awaits the
arrival of Chiara. In the garden of the Museum, which was once her home, the
young Grazia Deledda sadly throws the pages of her latest manuscript into the air.
Past, present and future will meet with the feminine grace of a vision.

NOTES

The film is inspired by “La via del male”, one of the first novels by Grazia Deledda
(1871-1936), winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1926. The book is the
backdrop to an out-of-time meeting between Elisa and Chiara, two present-day
girls, and the still young writer from Nuoro. The words of the novel capture the
protagonists who in turn reinterpret them by drawing, rewriting them, reciting them,
dreaming of them. Reality and imagination come together in a game whose rules
are inspired by the main characteristics of the book: love, passion for real things,
those suffered and desired, those that the same young Grazia still could not get
but for which she had decided to fight. To fight against closed provincialism and
social conventions, against a world that suffocates the dreams of all those women
torn between desire and resignation. Determined and passionate women, forced
into a continuous struggle within themselves by the bigoted society in which
they live, who sometimes express their own feelings through an explosion of
primitive and wild sensuality. As perhaps the young Grazia closed her eyes to the
surrounding world to dream of her characters and her stories, so Elisa and Chiara,
in the film, close their eyes as well to be able to renew those same dreams with
their own imagination, in that mutual relationship that only great art can entertain
with the people of all times. During the film, the usual space-time references
gradually disperse, whoever dreams is in turn dreamed, Elisa and Chiara imagine
Grazia Deledda in the past and Grazia Deledda imagines the two girls in the
future. Readers imagine the writer and the writer the readers. The montage tells
us about an encounter that can only take place in the field of film fiction but which
paradoxically expresses the search for the authentic emotions of the artist in the
act of creating the work and of the public in the act of receiving it, both through the
imagination.

FRANCESCO PIRISI

Francesco was born in Nuoro on August 25, 1980.

He graduated from the Psycho-pedagogical high school in his hometown. In 2001
he moved to Rome to study cinema, attending the courses of the NUCT (New
University of Cinema and Television) in Cinecittà. In 2007 he began writing and
directing short films. The last three short films are: FIZOS (2016) produced by
ISRE and selected at the Babel Film Festival (2017 edition) and at the Sardinia
Film Festival (2016 edition); DOVE SONO (2017) produced by ONE-WAY (a film
production label he founded) and selected at the Sardinia Film Festival (2018
edition); WARLORDS (2018) produced by ONE-WAY, distributed by OLBIA
FILM NETWORK and winner of the “Moviementu Award”, the “Sardegna Teatro
Award” at the Centottanta 2018 Award competition and the “Best Regional Film”
award at the Figari Film Festival 2019. Moreover, from 2016 to 2018 he curated
the “CineMan” film festival for the MAN_Museo d’Arte Provincia di Nuoro. Also
for the MAN he made the short film “Kino revolutia - Cinema of the Revolution
and Revolution of the Cinema” screened in sequence at the Museum during the
exhibition “Love and revolution” (2017).
