The Comenius programme is a European Union educational project, part of the EU's Lifelong Learning Programme. It aims "to help young people and educational staff better understand the range of European cultures, languages and values".
The goal of the program is to have participation of students and teachers in international activities, thus improving mobility of students and teachers in the EU.
The Liceo Scientifico Marconi (Chiavari) and Kauriala Lukio High School Hameenlinna ( Finland) have activated a 2-year bilateral project (August 2012-July 2014) which has offered the students the opportunity to work with their Finnish partners on a common project aimed at improving their cultural awareness and personal knowledge.
In my skin and a little in yours, too
Our project intends to focus on the multiple meanings within the word corporeity, on the many ways this concept can be expressed, be it through sport or any individual lifestyle proper to one country and culture, but also corporeity intended as the means we relate to other people namely our perception and image of wellbeing and last but not leat the way body expression has been used through the centuries and expressed in the artistic production of a people. The students have been asked to compare uses, customs, habits considering the cultural and geographical differences of their mutual homeland, to assess the emotional and relational components such a subject entails. They have been involved in debates, cultural visits, workshops in their own country and have exchanged the information thru the social networks commonly used by teenagers but the real added value of the partnership, have been the exchange weeks; on those occassions they have experimented first hand what they have been studying and learning about . Our common wish is for the students to have come
to a greater awareness in the belief that indeed

I Progetti
Through observation and questionnaires, we have compared eating habits and everyday behaviours in both countries and have come to some interesting conclusions. First of all: in each country the cultural background, the influence of climate and of the school system has created different nutritional contexts. Italian people spend more time outdoors while Finnish people spend a lot of time indoors the sauna is used daily to unwind the Finnish usually have as many meals as the Italians but they eat more often and their meals consists of fewer courses both Italy and Finland as most European countries are trying to move from traditional diets to healthier ones
ITALY-FINLAND: Italian statistic Where do you usually have your meals? ITALY-FINLAND: Finnish statistic Where do you usually have your meals I grafici mostrano le differenze nelle abitudini alimentari tra Italia e Finlandia The graphs show the differences in the Italian and Finnish eating habits What do you usually eat ? What do you usually eat?
2. PROGETTO GESTUALITA'
The body is a source of a lot of involuntary information. It is often used to communicate, to underline meanings expressed in words In everyday communication gestures have a fundamental role
The cognitive, emotional, relational sides of sports are well suited to make students consider the many facets of life, the importance of self evaluation and of using failures and losses as a basis for new beginnings.
On 20th December 2013 the students of our school and a representative of students from other local schools took part at a very interesting lecture- debate with Paolo Barghini. Barghini is a world wide known athlete who runs extreme marathons. He spoke about his life story, his travels, the sports challenges he has taken, his achievements. His words were intended to show the students how running has made him into a better man and how unbelievable determination has led him to fulfil his dreams. Discipline, resilience, and dedication, are values we all should follow in our life not only in sport he has
said. What matters is never stop trying, never give in or up and when or if we fail, consider failures and losses as something to learn from. This was the core issue. The ultimate message is clear: there are no limits you cannot overcome if you work hard and put all yourself into what you do.
Part of the project was devoted to show how the human figure has been at the centre of the artistic production from the antiquity up to modern times. The Italian students have led their Finnish partners on a virtual tour through Italian art.

5. PROGETTO MEDIA How far do media influence our daily life? Does advertising influence our choices? What image of the body do mass media suggest? What aspects are highlighted?
I cartelloni
The Italian and Finnish students have written a series of articles on the issues that have been discussed in the projects
The two exchange weeks during which the students have lived in their partner's family have been the most exciting and enriching. During this period not only have they worked on the project but they have also gone on cultural trips, visited museums and exhibitions, attended meetings and conferences aimed at giving them much more food for thought.

Sport a Chiavari Incontro con : MAURIZIO FELUGO MICHELE RUSSO E MASSIMO CAPECE
Un Bilancio Della Nostra Esperienza 'My experience in Finland was very interesting. I met new people but mostly I came in contact with a new culture. I found many differences between my way of life and habits and the Finnish ones. The Finns usually have dinner around 5p.m. because it gets dark earlier than in Italy. Moreover what they eat is different from what we eat because they grow different crops. Another big difference concerns transports. no one lives in the city centre so they always take the car to go anywhere and this was strange to me because in Chiavari everything is so close that you can easily walk or use your scooter' Sara 5C
'In Finland people love living far from the city centre so their houses are usually in the country. They have detached houses usually with a garden. Finnish students don't have to study as hard as Italian ones and though they spend at school a greater part of their day, they do not have much homework to do, then' Giulia 5C
'The neighbourhood where I lived was very different from what I'm used to living in. Big roads, lots of space , very few buildings while in Italy you can see houses everywhere' David 5D
'Finnish and Italian teenagers are quite the same in my opinion. we have the same problems and interests: school, friends, sports.' Alessio 5D
'In Hameenlinna life is less chaotic than in Chiavari. Nicola 5D
'I really enjoyed my stay in Finland. I had the chance to get to know a different culture. What surprised me of Finnish teenagers is their sense of responsability, They don't litter the streets and are more accurate when it comes to organizing events such as parties. On the other hand they are less outgoing and sociable at first.' Paolo 5C
'The southern part of Finland is very flat and there are a lot of green areas; there are forests with tall trees and the roads are straight and seem never-ending. There are a lots of lakes and they were still frozen when i went there!!! Alessia 5D
' In my 10 days in Finland I noticed that most of the girls dye their hair. They have a fair complexion, fair hair and blue eyes. Finnish people are very active and they have a tremendous appetite: they eat non stop! They go into the sauna completely naked, not even a towel to cover themselves. I had been told that Finnish people are not very talkative but it's not true, they are very friendly and they like joking but they can also spend a whole afternoon with their friends talking very little. In 10 days I hardly saw anyone smoke as it is considered a bad habit . teen-agers never smoke at school but they usually smoke at parties. Some like going around without shoes, they can take them off at school as well!' Valentina 5D
Leco Del Nostro Progetto Sul Territorio
The City authorities have been ready to greet the Comenius students and teachers
Entella (www.entella.it)
The local media have greatly helped us disseminate the content of our project Here follows the article published on A.C. Entella website (www.entella.it)
