Baldmore Police Department
(601 East Fayette Street
Baldmore, MD 21202
‘Dear Commissioner Bealefld
‘We ae writing to urge you to review incident reports related to Suite Ulralounge athe
Belvedere Hotel to establish grounds for itating a Padlock Hearing in accordance with
Baldmore City Code Anicle 19 section 43, Public Nuisances--Padlock Law.
We are confident that a careful and thorough review of violent incidents related to Suite
Ultralounge wil produce a srong, and compelling case forthe Police Department wo exercise its
legal authority to shuter this dangerous establishment.
‘Over the past year, law-abiding residents have been assaulted and terorized. We are deeply
‘woubled by recent—and regular—repots of assaults within a block of Suite Ukralounge that are
reportedly motivated by hate. City Government must exercise every legal option to adres his
public safer threat,
As you know, in May of 2008, the City Council enacted legislation to strengthen the public
nuisance law, enabling police to beer enfore the ordinance and safeguard neighborhoods from
iesponsible businesses, When applied, the new lv has been extremely effective in dealing with
bd actors who disregard public safety. Our hope is that the Police Department wil continue to
‘enforce the newly stengthened ordinance so that we can hod irresponsible business owners
Accountable and protect the safety and welfare of our citizens.
‘Thank you for your immediate tention to this matter.
Sincerely,
