Dear Mr. Krenik:
It's my understanding that the regents will soon be considering a long
term lease to establish the future home of the Minnesota Gopher foot-
ball team, Please add my support for a long term lease in the Hubert
H. Humphrey Metrodome.
As a former football player and coach at the University of Minnesota
I've had the opportunity to play on teams and to coach teams that per-
formed in Memorial Stadium, 1 think I've missed the "brickyard" as
much, or more, as anyone. However, from the standpoint of how the
playing site will effect the football program there is really no
choice other than to renew the lease at the dome. Attendance,
recruiting, and enthusiasm are all impacted positively by the dome,
and they equate to future success. To consider a return to Memorial
Stadium is, in ay opinion, a step backwards.
Coach Holtz has the program moving in the right direction and a posi-
tive commitment towards the dome will help further his efforts. Thank
you for your consideration,
Sincerely,
Richard A, Larson, CLU, JD
