In this podcast, Dr. Berg talked about the importance of the hormone called progesterone. During menopause, there will be a severe drop in progesterone. Progesterone is important because it serves as a pre-hormone that is there to turn into other hormones like estrogen, cortisol and some other adrenal hormones. A severe drop in progesterone could cause to not having enough adrenal hormones that is necessary to even compensate for the loss of ovarian hormones and would end up having various symptoms.
