Description

Today on the Tales of a Red Clay Rambler Podcast I have the first of two interviews with John Gill. John is one of the truly unique thinkers and educators in American ceramics. Gill started teaching at the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred in the mid 1980’s and has helped shape a generation of ceramic artists pushing the boundaries of the field. He is a member of the International Academy of Ceramics and in 2014 became a Fellow of the American Crafts Council. His work is represented in the collections of the Brooklyn Museum, New York; the Victoria and Albert Museum, London; Newark Museum, New Jersey and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, California. In our interview we talk about his teaching philosophy, developing a personal sense of touch and becoming a “visual journalist”. To see examples of his work, visit www.harveymeadows.com.     Hey Red Clay Rambler fans, I need your help to keep this show on the air. We need 10 new patrons to reach our monthly fundraising goal.
