Join hosts Kristin Walker and Frank King, The Mental Comedian, for a talk about men's mental health especially young men. Cody Gauthier, ACSW joins the discussion because he works in the trenches providing individual therapy for children, adolescents, and young adults. He specializes in treating adjustment difficulties, anxiety, depression, substance abuse, and trauma. ​Cody has worked with children, adolescents, young adults, and families across 3 different states since becoming a clinician. His various profession roles in inpatient, outpatient, residential, and school/university settings has informed his practice with families and youth of all ages. As a Counselor for residential boys 12-21 at Wediko Children’s Services, Cody assisted clients with treatment planning, individual therapy, group therapy, goal setting, and recreational therapy that drew from the strengths of the individual as well as their primary support systems. As a primary therapist in Inpatient and Outpatient hospitals in Connecticut, Cody provided family sessions, behavioral therapy, and psychoeducation, as well as advocate for youth and their families. As a Therapist in training at the University Of Connecticut, Cody acquired a wealth of experience doing individual therapy with students who needed support academically, socially, and also helped in identity formation for students who struggled to relate to others in new environments. He also specializes in substance use treatment, and has vast experience working with children, teens, and young adults who have struggled with traumatic pasts and has special training in trauma informed care, not only in support of the child, but in alignment with the whole family and their recovery.

In addition to clinical work at South Bay Child and Family Therapy, Cody is also a staff counselor at Marymount California University.
