Irefer to your request, dated 15 May 2008, under the Freedom of Information Act,
1997 (FOI Act) for access to records held by this Department.
In response to your request, I have found seven records which are relevant to your
enquiry. As detailed in the attached schedule, I have refused the release of three,
part-released one and the remaining three are publicly available. Enclosed is a copy
of the part-released document.
‘You may appeal this decision. In the event that you need to make such an appeal, you
can do so by writing to the Freedom of Information Unit, Department of Foreign
‘Affairs, 76-78 Harcourt St, Dublin 2. Your correspondence should include a fee of
€75 for processing the appeal. Payment should be made by way of bank draft, money
order, postal order or personal cheque made payable to the Secretary General,
Department of Foreign Affairs, You should make your appeal within 4 weeks from
the date of this notification, however, the making of a late appeal may be permitted in
appropriate circumstances. A week is defined the Act to mean 5 consecutive
weekdays, excluding Saturdays and public holidays (Sundays are also excluded, as
they are not weekdays). The appeal will involve a complete reconsideration of the
matter by a more senior member of the staff of this Department.
