Dear Mr. Byme,
I refer to the request which you made under the Freedom of Information Acts 1997
and 2003 for (u) details of all recorded crimes committed (or recorded as allegedly
committed) by foreign diplomats who were subject to diplomatic immunity in Ireland
in the past 10 years since 1998 and what crimes were committed and by
representatives of which country; prosecution figures, if any, of the same and details
of the country which the diplomat represented. details of diplomats who have had to
leave the country following committing a erime and which country they represented.
You also requested (b) details of how many people residing
entitled to diplomatic immunity.

In relation (o (a) above, I wish to advise that I am refusing your request under the
following Section of the Freedom of Information Act;
Section 10 (1) (a): A head may refuse to grant a request under Section 7 if the record
concemed docs not exist or cannot be found after all reasonable steps to ascertain its
whereabouts have been taken.
1 wish to advise that the Department has taken all reasonable steps to search for these
records and wish to confirm that records on statistics of crimes (or recorded as
allegedly committed) by foreign diplomats in Ireland, do not exist in the Department.
In relation to (b), [ wish to advise that a list of diplomats in exch Embassy in Ireland
(and acoredited to ireland) is up-dated each year by the Department of Foreign AMfiss
and is available in the Diplomatic List on the Department's webs
Should you wish to appeal this decision, you may do so by writing to the Freedom of
Information Unit, Department of Foreign Affairs, 80 St Stephen's Green, Dublin 2. In
making an appeal, please quote the above reference number and enclose a cheque or
posial order for €75 made payable fo the Secretary General, Department of Foreign
AMtairs,You should make your appeal within 4 weeks from the date of this notification,
However, the making of a late appeal may be permitted in appropriate circumstances.
