    Introduction

God said, "I have prepared a table before you in the presence of your enemies (Psalms 23:5). Whatever God prepared on the table will give the believer victory on every front and it’s meant to be eaten. It’s up to the believer to eat. Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks" (Matthew 12:34). The Word enters the heart from the mind. Therefore, when believers meditate, the Word enters the heart and exits out of the mouth and actions. In other words, the Word enters the heart and is transformed into power, exiting through the mouth and deeds.

It pleases God when believers eat the Word. (See Jeremiah 15:16.) His Words cause rejoicing and they are sweet. (See Psalm 119:103.) When believers meditate on the Word of God, the Word is being chewed and digested by their minds. The mind is transformed and sends that Word to your heart. The more you meditate on it, the stronger your inner man becomes in that Word. Again, whatever is in the heart proceeds through the mouth and actions. (See Joshua 1:8.) Are you a believer? Be one today!

Each lesson in this book contains a meal. Each meal consists of the following: Drink, Appetizer, Main Course, Dessert, and Leftovers. My heart was filled with joy when I completed a lesson and I looked forward to the next one. I believe you’ll have a similar experience.

    Study Buddy

Behind each lesson is a study buddy. Study buddy is designed to help you gain more knowledge from each lesson.

    Drink - A thought-provoking aim

Appetizer - Scripture reading before lesson

    Main Course - the Lesson

Dessert - Recap the main aim

Leftovers - Your thoughts on what you received from the lesson?

Preparation If you are using this book alone, delve into the lesson and then complete the study buddy.

If you are studying with a group, use the following guidelines to complete each section:

Prayer Prayer is not listed as a section, it is understood. Jesus said, "Without me, you can do nothing" (John 15:5). It is imperative that everyone in the group pray. Pray for your teacher (leader), class, understanding, and participation. Pray the prayer in Ephesians 1:16-19. You’ll be amazed at the wonderful time everyone will experience because of prayer. It’s not the eloquent prayers that make a difference – it’s the heart prayers! It’s the prayers of faith. Everyone can do that, including you! Be encouraged.

Drink Prepare this section before the group meets. The purpose is to prepare ahead of time so you can be ready to participate with your study buddies.

Appetizer Read and get an understanding of the scriptures prior to your study buddy meeting. Think about the scriptures and how they apply to the topic or the aim. Write your thoughts and be ready to share.

Main Course Read the lesson prior to attending your study buddy meeting. "Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God" (Romans 10:17). Every lesson is filled with scripture. Be sure to read the scriptures that are embedded within the lesson.

Participate Ask questions. Share responses when asked. Be ready.

Cooperate Be receptive and work together to resolve any scriptures or thoughts that are not clear. Be sure not to overpower or belittle others. The lesson is for everyone to glean whatever they need from that moment in the Word of God.

Dessert Discuss the aim and why it is important to understand it.

Leftovers Share Anyone may share whatever he or she has gleaned from the lesson. Encourage each other to prepare for the next study buddy meeting. Reiterate the time and location.

    Prayer Close with prayer.

Remember The Word of God is meant to be studied (2 Timothy 2:15). God is pleased when we study and learn of Him. Whatever we learn, we should apply to our lives. (See James 1:22.)

Tools Needed Bible, Study Buddy, Pen, and Dictionary for understanding words or biblical terms.

Enjoy!

    Today’s Menu Jesus is Powerful

Drink When you think about Jesus is powerful, what comes to your mind? (One-word answers only.)

    Appetizer Mark 5:11-13; 5:39-42; Luke 7:12-15

    Main Course

Jesus is powerful. He triumphed over diseases, devils, and death. Not one time have we ever read that He was sick or a sickness cleaved to Him. But we do read how He healed people with various diseases and sicknesses. He made the lame to walk and raised the dead! He cast out devils and He rose from the dead.

Jesus is powerful. When He spoke to a legion of devils (about 2,000), they obeyed His word. He spoke to a stormy sea and it obeyed His Word! He ministered to a man who had lost his mind and lived in the graveyard. When Jesus finished ministering to him, the man’s mind was restored and he was ready to follow Jesus! Jesus is powerful! He opened blind eyes and caused deaf people to hear! He’s so powerful He interrupted a funeral! He touched a coffin and spoke to a dead boy and the child came alive! What joy Jesus brought to that mom, many friends, and infinite number of communities! Jesus is powerful!

Jesus is radical and powerful! When the people tried to throw him off
