Dedication
To all the wounded kings out there,
Looking to come out of their current situation,
Seeking hope, healing, and growth,
May you find what you seek
And become the kings you were created to be
And rule your kingdom with wisdom, grace, forgiveness, and
Above everything else, love.
To my son
God gave me the privilege, the blessing, the responsibility to take care of you. Even more important, to be an example that you can follow as you navigate what it is to be a man. I have learned a lot about being a man through my life’s experience, and I have learned so much about my faith and the true love of God by just watching you. I know you may not read this, but maybe someday you will, and I want you to know that your dad loves you unconditionally. You are my son, and I am proud of you and love you. I want you to know that I may not be around for your entire life, but I am going to love you, protect you, instruct you, teach you, and honor you the rest of mine.
I Love You, Son! God be with you. One day, you will change your world!

The Journey
Text Description automatically generatedText Description automatically generatedChapter 1: The Introduction
Text Description automatically generatedI would love to tell you that great endings have great beginnings; however, I have to challenge that notion or that idea. In life, sometimes the most extraordinary things can begin from unexpected places or even from storms and tragedies. Sometimes the unexpected happens to us, and that marks every single one of us. In a way, it makes us who we are. I want to share a story with you.
This story took place a while ago in a carnival in a small town. In this small town, every resident went to this carnival. For the city, this event took place during the fall and was one of the very few places that people could come together as human beings. Entire families and individuals spent countless hours at the carnival, enjoying local music, food, shops, rides, and other shows. While some people loved the thrill of the rides, others went there to get some good carnival food, especially those fantastic funnel cakes. The food was what brought a young man there. Excited to try a good funnel cake, he found his life was changed forever. I want to share with you that moment in the young man’s life while waiting in a long line to get the best funnel cake in town. Suddenly, an older man stood in front of him, waiting for his turn to order a funnel cake. The young man quickly realized that the older man did not know that he was cutting the line. It’s funny how sometimes you do not mind someone cutting in line until they cut the line in front of you. The young man happened to be that person. He quickly tapped the older man on his shoulder and asked, "How are you doing, sir? These funnel cakes are the best in town. Have you ever had them?"
To which the older man responded, Hello, young man. Oh, sure, they are delicious. I come every year to this carnival to spend time with my family, but do not tell them, the main reason I come is to have one or maybe two funnel cakes.
After a moment, the young man realized that this gentleman was not aware that he was cutting the line. The people behind did not seem to care. In his mind, he wanted to ask him if he had purchased a fast pass ticket to the funnel cake line. That ticket allowed him to skip over everyone; I know I would ask that. However, his response was so warm that the young man smiled and replied, That is great. How many years have you been getting these funnel cakes?
That is a great question, young man, let me think. It may take me a moment,
with a smile on his face, If my memory serves me well, I have been eating these funnel cakes over 30 years,
he responded.
Surprised by his response, the young man said, Wow! I will be honest. I was not expecting that. That means you have plenty of experience, and you will be able to tell me if this one is better than all the other ones. You know what? It would be an honor for me to invite you to this one.
I am very grateful; however, I have one condition, young man!
he said, still smiling.
Sure, what is your condition?
he asked.
With a loving tone, he responded, I can only accept it from a friend, and I know all of my friends’ names; so if you do not mind me asking, friend, what is your name?
I do not mind at all, sir; my name is James.
Oh, please, do not call me sir, my name is Allan, but my friends call me Al.
Nice to meet you, Mr. Al. It will be an honor to invite you to a funnel cake since you have been eating them for over 30 years. You probably have more experience eating funnel cakes than anyone else in this line or even in this town
.
With a loud laugh, he said, Nice meeting you as well, James, and thank you for treating me to this funnel cake. I have a feeling this will be the best one yet. It may not have anything to do with the taste, but with the experience and the journey on how I got it.
He added, Let me ask you a question, James. Are you married?
He answers, "No, I am currently single. I am a college student. I have dated, but at this moment,
