About this pattern:
Do you love the look of knit leaf lace? But then you also want the knit hat to be a warm one… Enter the double leaf lace pixie balaclava! It is lined – knit in two layers – and it is extra warm because of that! This is the perfect comfination for winter, a hat and a scarf, two in one. It stays put and keeps the ears covered and the neck warm. The pattern comes in many sizes: from newborn to teen size.
Gauge: 17st in 4inches (10cm) in stockinette stitch
You will need:
Yarn (up to 180 grams for the largest size), knitting needles to obtain the gauge for knitting flat and for knitting in the round, tapestry needle, one stitch marker.
The hat part is knit flat, the neck part is knit in the round.
Abbreviations and techniques used in the pattern:
Slip / sl – slip the stitch without it being knitted (or purled). It does not matter if it is slipped knitwise or purlwise.
K - knit
P – purl
K2tog – knit 2 stitches together (right leaning decrease)
Ssk – slip slip knit decrease (left leaning decrease)
K3tog – knit 3 stitches together
Yo – yarn over (increase)
RS – right side
WS – wrong side
RH – right hand
LH – left hand
R – row
St / sts – stitch/stitches
* - The asterisk is used as a marker for beginning and end of a stitch sequence or row sequence that is to be repeated
