    Preface

    At the beginning of 2020, a new virus began creating chaos worldwide. It was first presented in the news as something that affected people far away in Wuhan, China, something similar to the flu that did not represent a deadly threat to the general population.

    The first patient in the United States was diagnosed in Washington state on January 20, 2020.

    Subsequently, we were confronted with the realities of COVID-19. We learned the hard way that the virus was highly contagious and deadly. It was not until March 2020 that COVID-19 was officially declared a global pandemic.

    Anxiety and uncertainty took a toll on people's mental health worldwide as many feared contamination and the information provided by worldwide health officials seemed contradictory. Guidelines for prevention and treatment became moving targets. People felt frustrated and confused.

    I was among these people, and I had been working full time on healing the wounds of my heart left by the loss of my baby boy, Mateo Serrano, who was born and died on July 11, 2018. He lived for nine minutes. His life was a short but most beautiful and meaningful one.

    I was expecting my second baby, Maya, as the pandemic peaked in my state of Oregon. It is not uncommon for pregnant women to experience high levels of anxiety. I had to deal with the common fears of giving birth and the constant worries of losing a second child. To add to the anxiety, there was COVID-19. Maya, my rainbow baby, was due on April 10, 2020.

    The birth of precious Maya came with supreme happiness and renewed hopes for the future. However, a mix of post-partum hormones and constant negative news associated with the pandemic motivated me to help fellow human beings mitigate their anxieties by using my own healing tools of guided imagery.

    I decided to create a new podcast called Rainbow Meditations. The podcast's name was inspired by the ever-present theme in my life: gain after loss, sunshine after the rain, silver linings. My life story is of a bright, colorful rainbow that appears after a raging storm. It has been defined by death and birth. By grief and joy. By Mateo and Maya. Mateo is my angel baby, and Maya is my rainbow baby.

    The first episode, Finding Inner-peace During the COVID-19 Pandemic, started with a list of affirmations I wrote to myself and decided to record so that I could listen to them while doing my daily practice of yoga and meditation. After sharing them with a couple of friends, they encouraged me to upload the recording to YouTube. Consequently, inspiration took off and new stories began to emerge. I have not been able to stop.     Rainbow Meditations has been streamed and downloaded thousands of times by people in more than twenty-three countries. It helped individuals heal and find peace while continuing to navigate the horrors of the pandemic. Through Rainbow Meditations, I have found a life purpose as I continue to fulfill my dreams of writing and helping others on their journeys of healing. It is my sincere hope that we become humbler, stronger, and more resilient after these difficult times.

    This book is a compilation of the stories on my podcast, Rainbow Meditations. To get the most out of this experience, I recommend the practice of journaling as you embark on this one-of-a-kind journey.

    Finding Inner Peace During the COVID-19 Pandemic

    The chaos around us is draining our spirits and negatively affecting our physical and mental health. Many of us have never felt so disempowered and afraid. Can we see and feel the end of this pandemic? Join me in visualizing a world free of barriers and fears. Let us dream for the end of this pandemic together in spirit, today!

    Find a place free from distractions where you will feel safe and comfortable. This place can be outside or inside.

    Visualize yourself in the world you have been wishing for since the beginning of the pandemic.

    This world you will visualize is your world; you get to decide what is in it.

    Perhaps you see people smiling? You hear chatting? Do you feel the warm weather on your skin giving you comfort? Or perhaps you feel tropical rain on your skin, refreshing and energizing you? Imagine, or visualize yourself being caressed by sunshine rays. Imagine for a moment that you are completely safe and free.

    See and feel the end of this pandemic.

    Look around you. You hear children playing freely. There is no more fear, no barriers in this new world you have created and are experiencing right now.

    Take a moment to write down what you see in your renewed world. All is well, and healing has occurred. Imagine clear waters, healthy people, a blue sky, green nature, happiness, peace, health all around you. Take a moment to enjoy your new world.

    Always remember that if negative thoughts interrupt your precious moment, you may talk to these thoughts gently by saying, Thank you for your desire to protect me, but I do not need you right now.

    You now walk in the company of a person. This is not just any person; it is someone you love and admire, someone who always makes you feel safe, someone whose words are kind and is enthusiastic about life. Who is this person? What are his or her physical and emotional characteristics? Take a few moments to describe this person.

    You two arrive home and enter your house. You have a safe home. Light radiates from every corner. The house has everything you have always wanted: the furniture, decorations, and things you have always imagined. This is a sacred, safe, and beautiful place.

    Visualize the portraits you have placed around your house. These reflect joyful moments that you will experience in this lifetime. There is a calendar near your kitchen. It contains commitments that will be fulfilled. Fun moments you are looking forward to. You will get to spend precious moments with your family and friends. Family reunions, birthdays, holidays.

    What are those activities and events you are looking forward to attending at the end of the pandemic? What are your dreams for your post-pandemic chapter? Think of the places you would like to visit and the people you would like to reunite with, then take a few moments to describe these people, places, and events.

    Nothing in your world will stop you from being happy. Happiness is here now. Happiness
